On Sunday, CBS personality (don’t make us say journalist) Lesley Stahl did a report on the resurgence of “misinformation” online, now that Elon Musk has loosened up the speech policies for his social media platform X and other platforms have started downsizing their “fact-checking” teams.  She interviewed several “misinformation researchers,” including Kate Starbird, lead researcher at the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public (CIP).

What was not mentioned was that CIP is one of the groups enlisted by the consortium called the Election Integrity Project (EIP), which pressured platforms such as YouTube and Twitter to suppress conservative speech relating to the 2020 election.  Starbird is mentioned by name in House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan’s report on government censorship --- 14 times.

Also not mentioned was that in August 2021, Starbird’s CIP was awarded $3 million by the Biden administration, through the National Science Foundation, to study “ways to apply collaborative, rapid-response research to mitigate online disinformation.”  Also, she has worked on the advisory committee for CISA --- the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.  From what we’ve seen, stopping “misinformation” is only a pretext for what they do.  They would shut us down in a heartbeat if they could --- certainly flag us on social media --- even if they couldn’t find a single misstatement of fact, simply because our opinion differs from theirs.  And we have a BIG difference of opinion about free speech.

So get ready:  We’re going to be seeing a lot more about the need for “misinformation police” ahead of the 2024 election, and we’d bet that funding from the Biden administration will be in the mix somehow.  It’s government-sanctioned election interference.  60 MINUTES and other mainstream shows will gladly do their part.
