This weekend, it was announced that John Durham had abruptly announced his resignation from the US Attorney’s office.

Most Trump supporters hearing the news immediately assumed, “Well, that’s it: the real insurrectionists, the coup plotters who abused the power of the federal government to try to overthrow the results of the 2016 election, will get off scot-free and probably get cushy jobs in the Biden Administration.” And while I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that does happen, this news doesn’t mean that Durham’s investigation of the Crossfire Hurricane targeting of the Trump Administration is over.

Fortunately, Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr foresaw this possibility before the election (Biden has already fired a number of US Attorneys, including one investigating Democrat corruption in Illinois) and named Durham as special counsel, a role in which he will continue. Only the Attorney General (presumably, Merrick Garland) could fire him.

Garland was pressed on that during his confirmation hearing, but as with most questions, he dodged taking a firm stand, other than that he sees no reason why Durham shouldn’t be left in place (you know someone is trying to avoid giving you a straight answer when it takes them two negatives to make a positive statement.)

Ordering his AG to fire a special counsel who’s investigating a scandal in which Biden and other members of Obama's circle were allegedly deeply involved would be very bad optics, and the kind of thing that would have Republicans demanding that a Republican President resign over (see Richard Nixon.) But Democrats have built such a strong record of circling the wagons when one of their own commits impeachable offenses and looking the other way in order to hang on to power that I can’t see that being much of a concern for Biden – unless he’s afraid that his fellow Democrats are looking for an excuse to show him the door and bring in Kamala Harris, and then all bets are off.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever actually met this man? I read an article about him today. It said that after much searching, they could not find one video, and very few pictures of him. The pictures looked pretty much the same, except for neck ties. Supposedly, Trump claims he never saw or met him, but heard he was good. The writer has come to the conclusion that this guy might not even exist. I tried looking him up, but all I could find were the same pictures the writer already had posted. And, yes, some of them looked like identical photos that had been photoshopped. The only "videos" were still pictures with a voice that could have been anyone. How mysterious! Have you met him?? Inquiring minds want to know!!

They won't care if the optics are bad, they're all fenced in and safe!!! We are witnessing the rape of our nation, and I cannot put into words how it disgusts me, and the level of outrage I experience from this injustice!!!!

How can Durham continue as special counsel? The DNC has deep tentacles. The investigation on the Fisa abuse and the Hunter activities should have brought fruit a long time ago. Justice delayed is justice denied. Are there strong and brave investigators left?

Well what about the indictments that were supposed to be in the Report? I still don't understand what is going on with this man resigning, suddenly. Most Americans have been waiting patiently for Barr and Durhams report. Both resign and where the hell are the reports? What is really going on here............just want the TRUTH.

The Democrats were screaming bloody murder that should there be even a hint of interference with the Mueller investigation there would be dire consequences. We need to hold them to the same standards and not be such pushovers.

I don't get it. You're saying he's a special council and difficult for Biden and garland to fire. But then you say he quit. Does that mean his deputy continues the work or that the shop is closed and the rascals will get away with all their misdeeds??

Even if Garland, or whoever ends up AG, after all this time, surely Durham has enough to deliver a report????

The man never investigated a damn thing....just another example of how corrupt our country has become. So much for his reputation being above board....just another fairy tale like Bill Barr!

As long as Biden keeps signing their EO’s and bills they ram through they won’t 25th him even though he clearly can’t string a coherent sentence together without his notes or a teleprompter. Garland can’t either!
