BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

This is a nice idea, but a little too late

By Mike Huckabee

With President Biden wreaking havoc by reversing all of Trump’s pro-American executive orders, Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson of Iowa (Huck PAC-endorsed and newly elected by the way) has introduced a bill to make five of Trump’s executive orders permanent, to protect American businesses from ruinous regulations.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s a little too late. The time to have codified pro-American executive orders into permanent legislation was during the first two years of Trump’s term when Republicans held the White House and both Houses of Congress. Instead, we had never-Trump Republicans blocking issues they had claimed for years to support, because Trump was proposing them. They frittered away their opportunity, and now, Biden is erasing Trump’s legacy, just as Trump erased Obama’s

Let’s all hope that Republicans take power again (very soon), and that they will have learned their lesson, knock off the in-fighting, come together and permanently erase the legacy of leftist lunacy that Biden is leaving.

Perfect prop

By Mike Huckabee

Turning one of the left’s favorite tactics against them (“Ridicule is a potent weapon”), some House Republicans came up with the perfect prop to illustrate how Kamala Harris has gone missing from both the border and press conferences for over three weeks, ever since she was put in charge of cleaning up the disaster President Biden created at the border.

And just because, with news like we have this week, we could all use a good laugh

Why the facemask Joe?

By Mike Huckabee

Please note that I am not criticizing President Biden for walking through Arlington Cemetery to honor fallen veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. But did he have to wear his facemask?

This took the focus off the point of honoring fallen veterans and just set everyone talking about why a fully-vaccinated man who was walking outdoors alone through a cemetery needs to wear a facemask.

More on the J&J Vaccine pause

By Mike Huckabee

The “pause” in administering the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine has been extended after a 7th case of blood clotting was revealed. This one was different since it involved a man (the others were all women), it didn’t happen in the brain as all the others did, and it happened during a clinical trial and couldn’t be linked to the vaccine. There’s more at the link.

Incidentally, I find it interesting that there is so much speculation and research about the different reactions of men and women. It’s almost as if, despite what the NCAA believes, males and females are biologically and anatomically different.

What we know about two new shootings

By Mike Huckabee

Again, there are two major stories in the news involving shootings. I won’t go into detail here since the narratives are changing quickly as more information comes in, but here are the basics of what we know now.

Video was released of the recent fatal police shooting of 13-year-old Adam Toledo in Chicago as he was raising his hands. The State’s Attorney’s office said the local prosecutor “failed to fully inform himself” before saying in court that Toledo had a gun in his hand, and that “the video speaks for itself.” Always ready to throw gasoline on a brushfire, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to social media to accuse the prosecutor of not making an error but of “lying about the police killing a child.”

However, CBS News is being accused of tweeting a misleading version of the video that cropped out Toledo's hands. Critics say the full police bodycam video showed that he did have a gun which he discarded just before being shot.

Also, at our press time, there are incoming reports of a mass shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. Eight people are reported dead, plus multiple injuries, some critical. The alleged shooter reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot. More information should be coming in throughout the day. In the meantime, I hope you’ll join me in praying for the victims and their families.

The Big Wheel Spins

By Mike Huckabee

Once again, it’s time to spin the Big Wheel of Random Oppression! And today, it clicks to a stop on…"Cheese!” Yes, cheese is now officially racist! Pass it on.

Plus, here’s a story especially for the “Racists don’t deserve due process” crowd. It’s all about how Papa John’s Pizza founder and CEO John Schnatter was branded as a racist, publicly vilified and forced out of his own company, and how a newly-released transcript of the conversation reveals that he never said anything racist. It appears that the accusation was a defamatory lie and that people he’d hired to help him deliberately set him up.

Of course, you have to remember: cheese is racist, and pizza has cheese on it, so Papa John is still racist.

Turley: "Hostile takeover" of SCOTUS "should horrify

By Mike Huckabee

On Thursday, we examined the dangers of court packing (“Democrats have gone full-on dictator mode”), with a warning that now just one Democrat senator --- Joe Manchin --- might stand between sanity and the complete politicization of the Supreme Court. That is too close for comfort.

Let’s turn to George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, one of our favorite legal experts, who has been following every move since the Democrats started talking seriously last fall about doing this. He describes their effort as “about as subtle as a B-52 run.”

“It dispenses with any pretense of principle,” he said Thursday on FOX & FRIENDS. “It’s like a hostile takeover of the court.” He called it a test of principle for Democrat members of Congress.

Uh-oh. If Democrats are being tested on principle, we know how that will go.

Turley, a Democrat, wants to see some fellow Democrats come forward and say, “This is raw, unadulterated court-packing” (which it is). He’s correct in saying that this has always been viewed as wrong, ever since President Franklin Roosevelt tried to do it in the 1930s. Democrats jumped ship then --- will they do it now? Given the nature of today’s Democrat Party, that seems highly unlikely.

Turley pointed out something I said yesterday, that some leftist icons, even Justices Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsberg, have opposed expanding the Court. He also noted that when Breyer very reasonably criticized the move, leftists started a billboard campaign calling for him to retire.

“I never thought I would see the day,” Turley said, “when the House Judiciary Chairman [Jerrold Nadler, a co-sponsor of the bill] would stand up for raw court-packing. It’s really breathtaking.”

He said Biden was correct in 1983, when he said this was “a terrible, terrible idea.” But now Biden is “equivocating, trying to play to the far left.” He said that “you can’t be a party that stands for constitutional values and be in favor of court-packing.” Turley is worried even that we have members of Congress willing to participate in the effort to do this.

“What they’re doing should horrify Americans.”

“This is not 'reforming' the Court,” Turley said, “it’s packing it.” I would add that any time Democrats use the word “reform,” watch out. It means they want to tear down and replace with something terrible.

He noted that even though he disagreed with Republicans when they refused to give Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland a hearing, Democrats’ calling THAT “court-packing” and using it to justify what they’re doing now is “as bizarre as their definition of ‘infrastructure.’” And what the Republicans did was entirely constitutional.

Turley was making the rounds of talk shows on Thursday, on the heels of Nadler’s introduction of the bill that would expand the Court from 9 to 13 justices. “What’s driving this is the most extreme voices in our politics,” he said on TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT.

This is entirely political, he said. “It’s treating the Supreme Court like it is a glorified FCC with life tenure, you’re just adding members, essentially because of their alliance with your agenda.”

He said that today’s politics is about being “a berserker...who’s willing to lay waste to any institution or tradition on the way to final victory.” He's right; we’ve seen them do it.

On April 10, after President Biden announced his intention to form a commission to study this idea, Turley said that even though he himself has long spoken favorably of very gradually adding justices, the way this is being done is “raw court-packing,” pure and simple, “a quick expansion to create an unassailable liberal majority.” Here is that commentary in full.

In October, when Democrats were floating the possibility of doing this, it was apparent that voters were opposed.

But since when have Democrats cared what voters wanted? The government is supposed to take its power from the consent of the governed, but Democrats don’t give a flip. We know voters don’t want no-ID voting. They don’t want thousands of people pouring over the southern border. They don’t want police departments defunded –- let alone disbanded –- with violence escalating and cities burning. Court-packing is one more terrible idea. So in order to get it past the voters who really don’t want it, Democrats are trying to reframe the discussion and confuse them as to exactly what “court-packing” is. To fool them.

“We’re not packing the Court,” said Jerry Nadler. “We’re unpacking it.”

Believe it or not, they’re saying we need more justices because the country is growing. I know, this make no sense. Why not have expand the Presidency then, and make it a committee? Besides, the Court is supposed to rule on the Constitution, basic laws and freedoms, and these have nothing to do with the size of the population.

Even last fall, Rep. Chris Coons was trying to tell voters that simply replacing a liberal justice with a more conservative one such as Amy Coney Barrett was court-packing. That’s not what it is.

Here’s how they’re falsely presenting it to the “progressive” audience, as stated by New York Rep. Mondaire Jones. Prepare to be disgusted, particularly by his produced political ad that the DAILY CALLER includes. You have my permission to bail if your head feels ready to explode.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy spoke to Sean Hannity Thursday night about the reason leftists are pushing so hard for this, explaining that the Supreme Court is the one branch of government that potentially stands in the way of an extreme agenda. Right now, they’ve got the Executive and Legislative branches; the Judiciary is the last domino. The only thing that stands in their way is the Constitution.

“Do not trust Nancy Pelosi,” he warned, “when she says she will not move it. Remember, that’s what she said about impeachment, before she moved impeachment twice.” He also pointed out that with just three more legislators, Republicans would be the House majority. That’s how slim the margin is. (Again, they don't care about “consent of the governed.")

He said that what Democrats are doing, changing the system to cement their power after winning an election, is very much like what Hugo Chavez did in Venezuela. He started out as a democratically elected leader, and then the changes began.

Tammy Bruce of the Independent Women’s Forum, also a FOX NEWS contributor, made it clear on Thursday how serious this is. She used to be on the left herself, and she knows how they operate. “For them, power is the animating factor,” she said. “Not negotiating, not the American people...” She pointed out that they’ve already “packed” many of our cultural institutions –- why would they stop now?

The only people who can stop them are THE REPUBLICANS, she said. “And Mitch McConnell needs to step up and do what he threatened to do once before, which was gum up the works so that nothing would get through. We need to hear that kind of fight in him and other Republicans again.”

He MUST stop this. And if we want him and the rest of them to fight, we have to demand it.

A Reader Writes Back...

It is frustrating trying to find the truth in the press. God bless you Mike and family. Now is the time for all of us to participate in the political process. I am tempted to put up signs on the front lawn but do not want my house burned down. In Phoenix, the police have been under funded for more than 20 years. We are often compared to Philadelphia. We are twice size in land area and have more population. Our police department has half the budget.

Jerrold " The Nattering Nabob" Nadler is the worst excuse for a representative of even the FAR Left I have ever witnessed in my 83 years and I have seen some doozies! ( Yeah that's a word) Between him and Mad Maxine, they are making the SQUAD look like amateur Morons.
I must admit though between Shifty Schiff and the CCP pipeline Sqeeky Clean Swallwell and the Hammer Queen it's a toss-up for the most Anti-American in the group. Listening to them tell the media they are Protecting the Constitution makes this Veteran Throw Up! And the so-called Media acting like Bobble Heads is revolting!

Looking at photo of President Biden at Arlington I noticed how high the grass was on his left leg; well above ankle height. My late husband is buried in a military cemetery and the grass is always kept fairly short, I suppose to facilitate easier walking while visiting the graves of our departed service members. Biden’s right foot is raised just at the top of the grass. The photo just does not look real; it looks to have been Photo Shopped with the image of the President super-imposed upon a different photo taken at Arlington.

Since a number of dead people do in fact vote, it stands to reason they could also contract covid-19. Yes, fully vaccinated political leaders should take every precaution not to further spread this disease, including protecting those already deceased.

Two things I wish conservative writers and TV pundits would pound home:

    1. This is a representative republic, not a democracy. The congressman from New York says that the conservative court is destroying democracy. He is correct, and that's the courts job .......... to maintain a constitutional republic.
2 Merrick Garland was not given a hearing, because Obama was a lame duck. His tenure was finished. ACB was processed and sworn in, because Trump was not a lame duck. He still had another term to go, which he won. Had their not been wide-spread (and ignored) felonious cheating, he would be in office right now.

Did you ever see the movie Dave? Maybe that is why Biden had a mask on at Arlington. It really is not Biden and they have someone else doing the questionable job!

  • Renee Kendrick

I guess Biden wore a mask to cover any emotions, if he has any emotions to show. Did Joe pick out his burial plot at ANC while he was there? As corrupt a politician as he is, Biden doesn't deserve burial at that resting place for honored veterans.

why was a 13 year old kid out in a chicago ally at 230am in the morning with a gun in his hand? what does his mother do does she work at night? I am glad I never became a police officer when I was offered the job of an atlanta police in 1967 and sheriff of clark county nevado in 1970. I look back as one of the stupid things that I DID not do.

I hope I'm wrong but I have to wonder if Biden appointing Gayle Manchin to an appointment on the Appalachian Regional Commission with its $163,000 salary won't make her husband go back on his promises. Many in conservative media see it as a bribe. Manchin has already shown himself to be somewhat "squishy" at times when it comes to doing what he says he'll do. I can also envision a plum committee position bestowed by Schumer to get him to go along.

Reference the article- This Is A Nice Idea, But A Little Too Late - a proposal to make five of President Trump's Executive Orders permanent. A little too late applies to almost everything a few of the Republicans are complaining, expressing concerns and griping about- the rest of the RINO'S staying in the shadows, rubbing elbows with the dispicable in control Democrats. I first blame what we as a nation are experiencing in less than 100 days with fraud Biden (directed to Obama who always wanted a third term to destroy America) - is the STOLEN Election. Republicans didn't come out and present evidence or take a stand. The Swamp Court of the United States showed no interest in our constitution or the American people. After reading Todd Starnes article "Slams (blames) Never Trumpers for "fundamental transformation of America". In my opinion Todd is so right. All this legislation that a few Republicans say we need now to stop the Dems agenda, why didn't they do anything while Trump was president? The Republicans at the beginning of Trump's presidency had the majority in the House and Senate. What did all these Never Trumper Republican haters do with all the oppprtunities to support the MAGA and America First agenda- threw it all away. Now a few are whining and crying and Todd is right- no one to blame but themselves. They sold out America and Americans. And yes I blame Democrat voters, cheaters and enablers to make sure the election was stolen. The foundation of this nation is crumbling at a very fast pace and erasing the checks and balances of our constitution being destroyed. All that is being done is 100 percent INTENTIONAL as Obama pushes his third term agenda. What did the current Republican party do about any of it- NOTHING!! So now more than ever- "you reap what you sow" and now we are seeing what was sown with the help of all those RINO'S !! Unless the Republican party is almost totally reformed minus a very few, a very limited chance they will have the support of former Republican voters. Maybe the Dems will go too far and Republicans actually get smart about the status of their party and address first and foremost the stolen election and what they will do when the Dems will again steal 2022, 2024 and beyond. Or they will just do nothing and accept the Democrats having total power, control and rule over the American people. Time will tell if there is actually enough good men left to stop evil from prospering.

Is it even possible to have meaningful midterm elections (if we are allowed to have them at all)? Voter fraud, illegals and felons voting, etc.

    Mike,
Thank you for your always gracious and thoughtful commentary. Just a thought on the Chauvin case. The main goal of policing is to keep the peace and preserve life, not to bust bad guys. I don't know whether Mr. Chauvin is guilty of a crime, but at least in hindsight, it would have been better to send Floyd home with a warning and dispersed the crowd. It seems like the officers should have recognised that the situation was getting out of hand and made adjustments.

I don't like, did not vote for or will not ever vote for Biden and company. But Biden did sign an excutive order mandatory mask wearing on fed. property. If we have to obey his orders he had best do so weather he is at the post office or at Arlington. Gov. property is gov. property.

With the walls and fences and razor wire surrounding the Capital I wonder what leaders of other countries think when they want to come and see the freak show for themselves. Does one think the population wants to do harm to its govt. officials or does the govt. fear that doing harm to the population will cause harm to the govt. official. Does the leader of another country think the population is an unhappy population he may not have to look to far the country has burning buildings, in its cities, people stealing the stores goods, gases being shot at the population to try and stop the stealing there is much more to consider the leader of the another country now gets to talk with our leader that can not put a sentence together by himself and a vice president that has been stealing laughing gas from the dentist's office, after 20 minutes with these 2 lunatics the country's leader has to excuse himself he has an emergency come across his phone and leaves at once on his way home he puts the the United States on the do not visit list you will not recognize it it is under attack by its own government!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For all of you Confederate Haters out there, Coca-Cola was invented by a Confederate Officer. You need to get off you hinnie and take down Coca-Cola, they are a Traitor.

Now for more Constitutional Amendment Suggestions. Lets get qualified Presidents. It seems our current Jester-to-the-Clown will not qualify for president, yet she is VP now.

    Article. II. – Executive
    Section 1 – President
    Section 1 – 5th paragraph - Qualifications
“5: No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

    Proposed: Presidential Qualifications
There is more to being President then just simply meeting the basic requirements. The Founding Fathers said that whoever is President must have been born a Citizen of the United States of America. Why? It is the culture of being an American. Someone born and raised in some other country does not have the American culture ingrained into their psyche. The Founding Fathers did not want the United States to replicate a European country, or any other country.

Over the years, there have been questions as to the exact meaning of Natural Born Citizen. The Supreme Court has made rulings that have provided some definition, but is inconclusive. Swiss legal philosopher Emmerich de Vattel in The Law of Nations (English 1760) gave a definition, which is likely the one the Founding Fathers had in mind.

The above statement is written in a mixture of positive and negative terms, which can be difficult to interpret. It needs to be rewritten in all positives with additions as below.

    Below is a suggested Amendment.
5: A Natural Born Citizen is someone who was born, raised, and educated in the United States of America and both parents were legal citizens of the United States of America at the time of the birth and neither owed allegiance to any other country.

The qualification for anyone to hold the office of President or Vice-President is that they be a Natural Born Citizen of the United States of America and no less than thirty-five (35) years of age and have been a life-long resident, excepting military or government service. They must have been born, raised, and educated in the United States of America, and cannot have been convicted of a felony, and must be current with their Local, State, and Federal taxes.

A Candidate for the office of President or Vice-President must publish documented proof of meeting these requirements and no personal records may be blocked from public view. The published proof of meeting the requirements will be verified and reported publicly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

When a President or Vice-President retires from elected office, they must register as a Lobbyist if they reside or work within 100 miles of the Capital City of the U.S.

The 5th paragraph of Article II, Section 1 is repealed. This Amendment replaces the 5th paragraph and is effective immediately upon Ratification.
