The biggest wake-up call since the 2020 election
Fred Lucas, chief correspondent and manager of the Investigative Reporting Project for the DAILY SIGNAL, has a must-read piece that’s perhaps the most important wake-up call we’ve had since the election of 2020. It’s called “How the left hopes to seize control of local election offices.”
Lucas interviewed Jason Snead, executive director of the Honest Elections Project --- which actually is FOR honest elections --- and what he heard is truly terrifying. The left is trying to make sure they control elections in the years ahead, and to further that effort, two big-money leftist operations are ready to spend $80 million. Each.
Run For Something, a PAC formed by a former Hillary staffer, is working to elect “clerks, election supervisors, clerks, registrars, recorders and other local officials charged with running elections.” Right now, they’re endorsing 11 candidates in a number of states, but the plan is that they “will promote thousands of election administrators in the years ahead.” They’ll use their dollars to help “their” candidates get into those positions.
These are the people who interpret and enforce state election regulations. For example, they decide how closely signatures must match, whether absentee ballots arriving after Election Day will count, how strictly to enforce voter ID, and how far away poll watchers must stand.
Through a project called “Clerk Work,” Run For Something says it’ll be supporting “5,000+ candidates for local offices in charge of election administration.”
Snead says the “training” is a loophole to avoid bans on private funding of election administration that are on the books in 21 states.
These groups are trying to rationalize what they’re doing by saying Steve Bannon is doing the same thing in mobilizing the right. To that, Snead says that “recruiting registered Democrats and Republicans as poll workers and poll watchers is different than a well-financed effort to place party activists in supervisory posts.”
Democrats also see this strategy as a way to put in place the provisions in the current Congress's HR 1 –- the laughably named “For The People Act” –- which was intended to federalize election law in ways that would have made honest, transparent elections impossible. That bill died in the Senate, but this apparently is Democrats’ Plan B.
Consider yourself warned. This plot has to be fought at the local level, in mostly down-ballot races. It’s hard to think of a worse threat to “our democracy” than to have elections run by these power-mad activists. Here’s the full story…
The THEME of Thursday's J6 hearing is a lie
Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 kangaroo court is gearing up for another prime-time show, this one on Thursday.
But first, here’s breaking news about a dangerous insurrectionist who has been sentenced by Judge Royce Lamberth in Washington DC for her dastardly role in subverting our democracy. Thank heavens, our country is safe –- for the next 60 days, at least –- now that this 69-year-old grandmother, self-described "citizen journalist," retired substance abuse counselor and breast cancer patient, Pam Hemphill from Idaho, is confined to a California prison. She'll have three years of probation after that.
Her crime? According to the U.S. attorney’s office in DC, it was “parading” inside the Capitol building.
Here’s more about her on the GiveSendGo page that’s been set up for her.
https://www.givesendgo.com/
Tucker Carlson reported Tuesday that Judge Lamberth said he wanted to “make an example” of this woman because of his frustration that someone in a separate case made statements that were, Lamberth said, “embarrassing to me.” “That’s not justice,” Tucker said. “It’s the opposite.”
J.D. Rucker has the disgraceful details on what Judge Lamberth did to this woman. It’s a must-read, though it will make you furious.
Tucker said this: “If you’re a regime propagandist [meaning Stephen Colbert and friends], you can do whatever you want. You can trespass in the Capitol; you won’t be charged by Joe Biden’s prosecutors. But if you’re an elderly cancer patient who votes the wrong way, you go to prison. Those are two standards, one justice system. That’s corruption.”
As Triumph the Insult Comic Dog might say, “That’s our Department of ‘Justice.” For me to poop on!”
Moving on…
Since the January 6th committee was hoping for sizzle and so far has had fizzle, they’ve come up with a new target: the Secret Service Agency. The committee subpoenaed them last Friday for all text messages that might have shed light on what was happening on the 6th, but the agency announced on Tuesday that there were no new texts that were relevant to the “investigation.” Texts had already been purged, they said, though there was no malicious reason for doing so.
As reported in the WASHINGTON POST, the National Archives is asking the Secret Service "to report back...within 30 days about the deletion of any records, including describing what was purged and he circumstances of how the documentation was lost.” WAPO cast suspicion on the agency, describing its role as that of “shadowing and planning President Donald Trump’s movements that day.”
To quote Bonchie at REDSTATE, “The entire thing is farcical. What does the committee think the Secret Service was doing on January 6? Does anyone really think its leadership and agents were part of an attempt to take over the government? Besides, the deletion of the text messages is being defended by Joe Biden’s own appointee. Is the theory now that Biden officials are pro-January 6th?”
Bonchie goes on to say that the Secret Service can show the text deletions happened over a period of months, not suddenly after January 6. The committee will just have to “look elsewhere for their ‘evidence’ of an organized coup that didn’t happen.”
But now committee members have a scapegoat for their own embarrassing failure. They have nothing that supports what they said in their brash opening statements --- that Trump was leading a carefully planned coup to overthrow “our democracy” --- so now they can say the evidence must have been in those texts deleted by the Secret Service as part of a phone upgrade. THAT’S where they would have found the smoking gun! THAT’S why they’re having to depend on made-up stuff and hearsay.
Most of the reporting on the January 6 hearings is sidestepping the problems with witnesses and taking what they say at face value, somehow “forgetting” that in a real hearing, there would be cross-examination and we’d get the other side. Fortunately, that’s not the case at THE FEDERALIST, where Tristan Justice examines the AP’s “blind adoption” of the incorrect timeline for the Capitol riot put forth repeatedly by the committee.
AP’s “preview” of Thursday’s hearing offered a big piece of misinformation, which, of course, was quickly scooped up by news outlets across the country. Never mind that the “P” in “AP” stands for propaganda. They happily maintain the fiction that the President waited three whole hours before telling rioters to leave the Capitol.
But according to the WASHINGTON POST, the first breach took place at 2:15 that afternoon. We know it was only 23 minutes later, at 2:38, when President Trump tweeted to his followers pleading for peace. “Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement,” he told them. “They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!” He addressed them again 30 minutes later. Two hours after the first breach, he used the platform to appear on video, telling all rioters to go home. “We have to respect our great people in law and order,” he said. “We don’t want anybody hurt.” How did Twitter respond to Trump’s call for peace? They removed it.
The full transcript of Trump’s banned video, if you haven’t seen it, is at the link.
This sure doesn’t sound like someone with insurrection on his mind. On the contrary, he’s calling for peace and respect for law on a day that had to be one of the saddest of his life. Violence was the last thing he would have wanted as his legacy.
But apparently, the committee intends to use that false timeline, the “187 minutes” of so-called inaction on the President’s part, as the theme for Thursday's hearing. It’s a lie, and they are an embarrassment.
Apollo 11 Anniversary
Today is the 53rd anniversary of one of the greatest achievements in the history of mankind: Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin becoming the first men to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969, as Michael Collins orbited above in the command module.
As a kid growing up in the 1960s, my biggest heroes were the NASA astronauts, and they remain so today. Those who question the effort and expense of the space program overlook how many technological advances grew out of it, from computers and cell phones to new medical and food technologies.
But what those of us who were around at the time will never forget was the sense of awestruck wonder, and knowing that all around the world, people came together to watch transfixed as Neil Armstrong took that “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” on live TV. Those fuzzy, black and white images were more thrilling than any modern 3D virtual reality video game could ever be because it was real.
For those who weren’t there at the time, or who would like a nostalgic refresher, here’s an article with some interesting facts about the first lunar landing.
And some great photos and footage from an article published on the 50th anniversary in 2019.

Maryland Results
In Tuesday’s Maryland Republican primary, Trump-endorsed gubernatorial candidate, state Delegate Dan Cox, easily defeated Kelly Schultz, who was endorsed by current GOP Gov. Larry Hogan.
Just as they did in Illinois, the Democratic Governors Association and other leftwing PACs spent big on deceptive ads backing Cox, because they see his conservative views and Trump support as making him easier to beat. Indeed, after spending millions to help him secure the nomination of the opposing party, they immediately began ripping him as a "Q-Anon conspiracy theorist." A DGA spokesman said, “We can’t let Dan Cox turn Maryland into MAGAland, which is why the DGA has been holding him accountable for weeks and will continue to ensure we defeat him and his dangerous agenda in November."
Actually, they hadn’t been “holding him accountable,” they’d been running ads for him. A cynical person might say that they were unethically interfering in the other party’s primary to undermine fair elections and actually trying to nominate what they now claim would be a “dangerous” Governor for Maryland. Some might even say that their utter lack of integrity is matched only by their complete disregard for the good of the state they seek to lead.
To be clear: I don’t agree with anything they say about Dan Cox. I’m just pointing out that if they actually believed in any of their own bilge water and had even an iota of integrity, they wouldn’t have worked so hard to ensure he was the GOP nominee. If they really thought he was so bad and they cared more about Maryland than their own power, they would have wanted him stopped at the primary level, to make sure voters would have the best possible choices. So either they’re irresponsible, unethical opportunists who only care about their own power, or they’re slanderous liars.
Hey, Marylanders: do you really want either one to be in charge of your state?
Also worth noting: HUCKPAC-endorsed Neil Parrott won in a crowded field to be the GOP candidate for Maryland’s 6th Congressional district.
"Political theater"
Just yesterday, I described what the Democrats are doing in Congress as “political theater” instead of working to solve the actual problems of regular Americans. Now, thanks to the “Squad,” we can describe it as the old SNL sketch: “Leonard Pinth-Garnell’s BAD Political Theater.”
Far-left Reps. Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined a pro-abortion protest that was blocking traffic outside the Supreme Court. When police officers began removing the protesters, AOC put her hands behind her back in front of the cameras, as if she were handcuffed, which she was not. At one point, she raised a fist (socialist photo-op!), then put her hands behind her back again.
Some said she was going for an Oscar, but I think a Razzie Award would be more appropriate. In all, 34 protesters were arrested, and 16 of them, fully half, were Democrat Congress members. Which I would describe as “a good start.”
AOC is getting roundly razzed on social media, but her defenders are trying to claim that putting your hands behind your back as if you’re handcuffed is a typical move for leftist protesters. But it’s also a typical move for someone who constantly plays “Revolutionary” on social media. Sure, it’s easy to laugh at the hypocrisy and phoniness of the Squad, but that distracts from a couple of more important points:
1. What do these idiots expect the SCOTUS to do? Say, “Oh, wait, you’re right! There is a right to abortion in the Constitution that we overlooked! It’s number 3-1/2 in the Bill of Rights! Never mind, we take the Dobbs ruling back!” That ship has sailed. They’re throwing tantrums and railing against the SCOTUS instead of making their case to the voters of the states that abortion should be allowed right up to the minute of birth, something that all but one House Democrat and one Senate Democrat recently voted for. Good luck with that.
They know that if they actually have to convince Americans that their belief in killing unborn babies for convenience is morally correct, they won’t just lose, they’ll be ostracized from decent society. That’s why they can’t even tell you what it is they’re advocating, and paper over it with fuzzy euphemisms like “reproductive health.” They needed activist judges to overstep their powers and force it on the public because if they knew if the people were allowed to register their verdict, they’d reject it faster than a plate of rancid veal.
2. Why wasn’t AOC handcuffed? Protesting at the Supreme Court is illegal, and so is blocking traffic. By her own party’s standards, she and her cohorts were attacking a branch of government, threatening its office holders, and trying to interfere with it doing its Constitutional duty. I believe the Democrats call that “insurrection.” If a 69-year-old grandmother who just stepped into the Capitol on January 6th to take a selfie can be hounded for over a year and sentenced to 60 days in a federal prison, then why isn’t AOC in handcuffs and already being whisked away to solitary confinement to spend the next 12 months waiting to find out what she’ll be charged with? She claims to believe in “equity.” What would be more equitable than that?
Plus, the granny was convicted of “parading.” Doesn’t parading around in public and making a nuisance of herself sound exactly like AOC’s idea of her job description?
PS – I don’t want to leave this topic without laughing at AOC at least one more time, so here’s the Babylon Bee’s take on her latest flight from reality:
