Tell me again, WHY is Nancy Pelosi going to Taiwan??
This was written late last night, before Speaker Pelosi’s arrival in Taiwan.
Yesterday, I asked the question, “Why is Nancy Pelosi going to Taiwan right now?” It seemed no one else was asking this, but last night on his FOX News show, Tucker Carlson brought it up. There still are no answers, just questions.
At the time of his broadcast, government officials in Taipei had been advised that Pelosi’s arrival was “imminent.” One source told the WALL STREET JOURNAL that “she’s definitely coming.” The only thing yet to be determined was whether she’d spend the night there. This is happening despite the Chinese signaling that if she goes there, it could trigger “serious consequences.”
“If House Speaker Pelosi insists on visiting Taiwan, China will take resolute and strong measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” a State media spokesperson said. If U.S. fighter jets escort Pelosi’s plane into Taiwan, they consider it an invasion and will “forcibly dispel” her plane and the military escort, by firing warning shots and making “tactical movement of obstruction.” If these moves are ineffective, the next step is to “shoot them down.”
The White House wouldn’t address this in Monday’s press briefing, choosing not to respond to a “hypothetical.” Note: the threat itself is not a hypothetical. It has been made, repeatedly.
“This is one of the weirdest moments in the weirdest presidency in American history,” Tucker said. (I can’t speak to all of American history, but it certainly it is in my memory.) “The Biden administration is provoking a hot war with China,” he continued, “which, by itself, would seem to be headline news.”
The controversy surrounding Pelosi’s trip seemingly gave the Pentagon the opportunity, through spokesman John Kirby on Monday, to utter this sentence: “We do not support Taiwan independence.” Perhaps this administration is using Pelosi’s trip as an excuse to offer yet another gift to the CCP: to say out loud the exact words they demand we say.
It’s a balancing act, but officially, America doesn’t support Taiwanese independence. We acknowledge, without endorsing, the “One China policy” that says Taiwan is part of China.

Yesterday, we said the stance taken by our otherwise pro-China administration –- provoking them with this unnecessary trip –- made no sense, and Tucker concurs. “This does not make any sense at all,” he said. “In fact, it only makes sense if the Biden White House is intentionally trying to weaken and destroy the United States.”
I’d say just about everything this administration has done makes sense only in that light.
Tucker likened this situation to what happened with Ukraine earlier in the year. Biden sent...(drum roll)...Kamala Harris...to deal with the complexities of peace negotiations there, so we ended up with (what else?) war between Russia and Ukraine.
Tucker went on to note that China, if we were at war, “could simply turn off our economy.” Their navy is larger than ours, and if they control shipping lanes, they could shut down Taiwan’s huge semiconductor industry. We depend on China for much more: car batteries, computers, phones, refrigerators, food preparation equipment, shipping containers, the cranes you see at loading docks, and most medications –- including more than 90 percent of antibiotics.
We know for sure that the Bidens, including “the Big Guy” (our President), are incredibly compromised. Last week, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson said he expected Biden’s Department of ‘Justice’ to keep any indictment of Hunter (if there even is one) sealed. They’ll “do a deal,” he said, and “the American people will never get the full truth.”
Recall that last week, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz asked a senior DOJ official if Hunter Biden is a security threat, and the official wouldn’t answer.
I have a feeling that if Hunter Biden eludes indictment after all he's done to put our national security at risk, or if he gets a slap on the wrist and his charges are sealed, the level of response from the American public will shock Washington DC. I think they underestimate how much we grown to detest what we’ve learned about the “ruling elite.”
Consistent with this, THE EPOCH TIMES reports in a premium story that a watchdog group called Protect the Public Trust is suing the DOJ for withholding records on high-profile investigations, including the Hunter Biden case. Over a year ago, they filed a Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents relating to ethics waivers and “determinations to allow potentially conflicted employees to work on cases.”
These would deal with potential conflicts of interest such as the one involving Biden appointee Nicholas McQuaid, whose former colleague represents (yes) Hunter Biden.
THE EPOCH TIMES ends its story with an unintentionally hilarious quote from AG Merrick Garland: “Transparency in government operations is a priority of this Administration and this Department. We stand ready to work with each of you to make real the Freedom Of Information Act’s promise of a government that is open and accountable to the American people.”
“Is the Biden administration deliberately trying to sell us out? Is Joe Biden a paid agent of the Communist Chinese, or perhaps of the Putin regime? I have always assumed the answer is no, but the troubling question is, if Biden were a Chinese agent, what exactly would he be doing differently? The answer: nothing.”

Hinderaker is focusing mostly on Biden's “climate” initiatives that will destroy our economy and energy grid and enrich China by trillions of dollars. But Biden is helping China and risking our national security on multiple fronts. So, tell me again: WHY is Nancy Pelosi going to Taiwan?
…………………………
RELATED: At this writing, Pelosi has landed in Singapore, perhaps on her way to provoking a confrontation between China and the U.S. (which will almost certainly favor China). Through the Democrat Party apparatus, she’s apparently connected to a company called “Ant Group,” a spin-off of Chinese company Alibaba, which was flagged by the U.S. State Department as a “tool” of the CCP for surveillance and control through through the “social credit” system. Ant Group also owns “AliPay,” a digital payment platform used by the CCP to institute vaccine passports.
One of the consultants working for Ant Group is Larry O’Brien, who has been described by the WASHINGTON POST as a “major Democratic operative.” He’s been a longtime maximum donor in the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) and active with the Speaker’s Cabinet and the “Pelosi Team 100” Program. On the Senate side, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee (DSCC), he’s a lifetime member of the Legacy Circle of donors. His involvement with the Democrat Party is deep. And the social control technology Ant Group is involved with in China should raise eyebrows as high as...well, Pelosi’s eyebrows.

Primary Day
Today, primary elections are being held in Arizona, Missouri, Kansas, Michigan and Washington. Be sure to vote if you haven’t already, and I’ll have a round-up of results tomorrow.
Here are some of the key races in each state.
In Missouri, former Gov. Eric Greitens and Attorney General Eric Schmitt are leading the polls for the GOP Senate nomination. Former President Trump made a last-minute endorsement of…”Eric.” So make of that what you will.
In the Arizona GOP Governor’s race, most polls are showing Trump-endorsed Kari Lake well ahead of establishment-preferred candidate Karrin Taylor Robson, despite Lake being vastly outspent.
In the first vote since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Kansas voters will decide whether the state should go on protecting abortion rights (Letting the voters decide! What a novel concept!) The measure would amend the state constitution to affirm that there is no right to abortion.
Kansas voters should be aware that much of the money being spent to fight the amendment has poured into Kansas from outside the state. The Federalist reports that 71% of the over $6.5 million spent by the leading pro-abortion group on this race came from sources outside Kansas.
And in a related story, some House Democrats are slamming their own party leaders on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for pouring money into ads for what they think are the most “extreme” Republican candidates, in hopes that they’ll be easier to beat. These Democrats called that kind of meddling in the other Party’s primary elections “dangerous” and “dishonorable.”
https://www.washingtontimes.
It’s also a great example of how Democrats never learn, because it’s the same tactic the Party and their media minions followed in 2016 when they did everything possible to boost Trump, confident that he would be the easiest candidate for Hillary to beat. Let’s hope it works out just as well for them this year.
The details of the “Inflation Reduction Act” are public
The details of the Democrats’ “Inflation Reduction Act” that Sen. Joe Manchin agreed to support are finally public, and one thing is clear: not since Peter Minuit handed over $24 worth of junk jewelry for Manhattan Island has anyone been so swindled (I refer, of course, to Peter Minuit.)
I already told you that an analysis found the bill would actually raise inflation for a couple of years, then reduce it, for a net impact on inflation of zero. It will also raise taxes, add 80,000 IRS agents to beef up audits, and shower hundreds of billions of dollars on Democrat “Green New Deal” programs and cronies.
https://www.foxnews.com/
On the Sunday news shows, Manchin claimed the bill will reduce inflation while "not putting a burden on any taxpayers whatsoever." That will be a neat trick, considering it increases tax revenues by $739 billion. That claim is based on one of the left’s favorite false narratives, that you can tax corporations and it won’t affect individuals. But corporations don’t pay taxes, they just collect them. The costs are passed along to customers in the form of higher prices, and to workers via fewer hires, lower pay and reduced benefits.
Fox News reports that the nonpartisan Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that “in 2023, the year in which the legislation would increase tax revenue most, individuals making less than $10,000 per year would pay 3.1% more in taxes and those making between $20,000-30,000 per year would see a 1.1% tax increase…Tax revenue collected from those making $100,000 per year or less would increase by $5.8 billion in 2023.”
And Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee reported that “by 2031, when the new energy credits and subsidies are set to provide an even greater benefit to wealthier Americans, those earning below $400,000 are projected to pay as much as two-thirds of the additional tax revenue collected that year.”
Manchin claims no taxpayers whatsoever will pay more, and Biden ran on a promise that if you made less than $200,000 a year, you wouldn’t pay a penny more in taxes. He also promised that his “Build Back Better” bill, of which this is the Omicron variant, wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000. Not only will lower income taxpayers get hit by this bill, they especially will get hit by this bill.
Senate Finance Committee ranking member Mike Crapo said, "The more this bill is analyzed by impartial experts, the more we can see Democrats are trying to sell the American people a bill of goods. Nonpartisan analysts are confirming this bill raises taxes on the middle class and produces no meaningful deficit reduction…”
At this point, the only way to prevent this orgy of taxing and spending would be for Sen. Kyrsten Sinema to say no, or for Manchin to realize he’s been taken to the cleaners and back out of his commitment.
And if you’re wondering how Manchin was bilked into supporting this, Bonchie at Redstate.com has details on that.
It seems he fell for one of the oldest tricks in the political racket: vague and unenforceable promises with the responsibility for fulfilling them falling on officials like Biden or radical greenie Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, who have no incentives, interest or inclination to do what Manchin wants.
As Bonchie sums it up, the bill “delivers almost nothing of substance. I hope it was worth it for the West Virginia senator. He burned his credibility to the ground in order to please people who hate him, and all he’s getting are some empty, unenforceable promises. What a sucker.”
Let me just point out to Sen. Manchin: you don't have to be a sucker. You haven’t voted for this yet. You can always claim you were lied to (or "bamboozled" is a nice word) and have changed your mind about signing on. Do as so many other Democrats have done and just "Walk Away." Trust me, very few people will complain about not getting a big tax hike so the Democrats can blow more inflationary spending on their pet projects.
U.S. kills Zawahiri
Congratulations to the US military for killing terrorist leader Ayman al Zawahri, who has been the head of al-Qaeda since Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011. Al Zawahri was reportedly taken out by a drone strike while he stood on a balcony in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Redstate.com has reactions from family members of 9/11 victims.
The Biden cheerleader media trumpeted that this proves Biden was correct that we don’t need a base in Afghanistan to carry out anti-terrorist missions. But hold on a minute. First of all, being able to launch one successful drone strike on a high-profile target is not the same thing as having reliable intelligence on the ground to monitor threats 24/7.
Secondly, Biden assured us on Monday that the US would "never again allow Afghanistan to become a terrorist" safe haven. He also previously told us that the Taliban would not allow al-Quada to come back and use the nation as a base for terrorism. So what was the most wanted terrorist leader in the world doing not only in Kabul, but obviously feeling safe enough to be standing out in the open?
As Dan Hoffman, former director of the CIA’s Middle East and North African division, told Fox News, "Afghanistan is a petri dish, growing threats to the region and beyond. The one lesson we learned from September 11 is that you can't give these guys ungoverned space."
Well, that’s the one lesson we SHOULD have learned.
