Toby Keith Dies at 62

We are shocked and saddened to have to report that country superstar Toby Keith has died at 62 after a battle with stomach cancer. A brief statement was posted early this morning on his website and social media accounts, reading, "Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time."

The Oklahoma native burst onto the scene with his debut album, “Toby Keith,” in 1993. His first single, “Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” hit #1 and became the most-played country song of the ‘90s. He released 19 studio albums, two Christmas albums and five compilations that together have sold over 40 million copies. He released 61 Billboard charting singles, including 42 top ten hits, 20 of which reached #1. “As Good As I Once Was” and “Beer For My Horses” (with Willie Nelson) both remained in the #1 spot for six weeks.
Keith’s outspoken patriotism often ticked off leftists, but he did not care. His response to the 9/11 attacks was the song "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," with its famous declaration that “We’ll put a boot in your a**, it’s the American way.” He also showed his support for the troops with the 2003 hit “American Soldier” and 11 USO tours. And he raised millions in charity, including a home in Oklahoma for kids with cancer and their families.
Gov. Huckabee has many cherished memories of guests on his Fox and TBN shows, but one of his favorites of all time was interviewing and playing bass with Toby Keith. Fortunately, that clip is available on YouTube. You can relive it at this link:

Expected News
This morning, the US Federal Appeals Court in DC ruled that former President Trump does not have immunity from prosecution for actions taken in office regarding the 2020 election case. This will be treated by the media as a big anti-Trump bombshell, but it’s completely expected from the DC court. The real decision will come from the Supreme Court on appeal.
For those who wonder why all the trials and convictions for Trump and his supporters seem to fall in deep blue areas like New York City or DC, this should give you a clue:
The Epoch Times reports that a survey by Triton Research of “jury eligible residents” of DC uncovered extreme bias against Trump and his supporters. 75% “strongly” agree and 14.4% “somewhat” agree that Trump is to blame for the January 6th riot, and 76.6% agree that Trump’s supporters are racists. 27.5% describe Jan. 6 protestors as “insurrectionists,” 13% call them “criminals,”14.9 say they’re “domestic terrorists” and 11.5% call them “traitors.”
Asked if 47.5% “strongly agree” and 21.1% “somewhat agree” that “Donald Trump and his supporters should be stopped at all costs.” 68.6% say Jan. 6 protesters should be “punished to the fullest extent of the law to prevent anything like this from happening again” and 40.1% agree that “America is a safer place with them in prison” (I could say the same about the entire Biden Cabinet, but they probably wouldn't put me on their juries.)
51.4% “strongly agree” and 17.4% “somewhat agree” that “anyone who participated in the events at the Capitol on January 6 should serve prison time,” “regardless of what they did” (Walk through an open door of a public building and take a selfie: go to prison. Burn down a police station, no charges.) And 26.9% “strongly agree” and 21.1% “somewhat agree” that life in prison or the DEATH PENALTY would “be a fair punishment for anyone who participated in any of the events of January 6.”
There’s more along these lines, but you get the idea. Finally, over 80% said they would serve as a juror if called, with nearly 40% saying that they “want to be on that jury to make sure the defendant is found guilty and held accountable for the events of that day.” I get the feeling a lot of these people have already served on Jan. 6 DC juries.
Just remember this the next time any Republican is found guilty by a DC jury after the judge refused to allow a change of venue due to jury pool bias.
Update
After pushing for the “bipartisan immigration reform bill,” Senate Republicans seem to have gotten the message from the furious public reaction that this would be political suicide and have turned against their own bill. Even GOP lead negotiator on the bill and its biggest defender, Sen. James Lankford, now won’t say if he’ll vote to advance it to floor. Maybe it won’t have to be killed in the House; it could die in the Senate.

A Presidential Primary in Nevada
Today is Presidential primary day in Nevada. Well, sort of. It’s complicated.
In the Democratic primary, Biden is expected to score another much-ballyhooed landslide, which is kind of like giving yourself a box of cigars for winning a game of solitaire. On the Republican side, Nikki Haley is on the ballot, but Trump isn’t. On Thursday, the GOP will hold caucuses, where Trump will be on the ballot, but Haley won’t. The caucuses award all of the state’s 26 delegates, so that will give the media two days to trumpet a big Haley win over Trump before he crushes her and takes all the delegates. Just so you know.
Not surprisingly, this state of confusion is due to the Democrats being in charge of the state and using their power to change the traditional election process. They switched from caucuses to a primary. The Republicans objected, and a judge granted them the right to keep holding caucuses. Anyone who takes part in the GOP primary can’t be on the caucus ballot. So there’s now a meaningless GOP primary without Trump on the ballot and caucuses that are the real contest where he’s on the ballot and Haley isn’t. Pundits and political junkies will be watching today's GOP primary carefully and I’m sure talking endlessly about what the final result will “mean.” Voters in the primary can’t even write in Trump’s name; their only choice is Haley or “None of these candidates.” Many will be trumpeting how well Haley does against a non-choice that’s being seen as a surrogate for Trump’s name. But in reality, if she loses to “None of these candidates,” what it will “mean” is that it might be time to pack it in.
The Left tries to spin the Biden documents case
While SCINO (“Special Counsel in Name Only”) Jack Smith is attempting to railroad former President Trump into federal prison for possessing his own Administration’s classified documents that he had the power to declassify in a safe space under armed guard, the Biden DOJ has already decided not to prosecute Joe Biden for having classified documents in his unsecured garage that as a Senator and Vice President, he had no right to declassify or possess.
But at least, before the left can completely repeal the First Amendment, we still have the right to point this out. And the Biden White House is so panicked about his reelection chances, they’re actually sweating over that.

The special counsel’s report of the investigation into Biden’s careless handling of classified documents is coming out soon, and Biden’s people are reportedly worried about it being politically damaging. Gee, ya think? That maybe when Americans actually see that Biden did something far worse than what Trump’s facing multiple felony charges for and was allowed to skate away clean, they might have even less respect for our federal legal authorities than they already do, if such a thing is possible? That they’ll see those boxes of sensitive government documents in Joe's garage and wonder, “Did Hunter read those, or use any of them to roll joints?”
I sincerely hope they do! The release of this report absolutely should make Americans think there’s a two-tiered justice system and this Administration has weaponized it to target their political opponent because that’s as true and obvious as the sun rising in the east.
By the way, despite Axios being an annoyingly biased leftwing site, I’m linking to their story about this for two reasons: It has some good bullet point info, and it’s enlightening to see how they try to slant the story to sound as if what Trump did was very serious and so much worse than Biden and that this is just a matter of public perceptions. I’ve seen Olympic figure skaters who couldn’t spin that fast without falling over.

“60 Minutes” has been airing on CBS for nearly 56 years, so you’d think that by now, they would have figured out that being a good reporter means getting the story first. But somehow, they seem to be the last people on Earth who were shocked to discover that some pretty worrisome people are coming into America illegally from across Joe Biden’s open border. Who knew?!!

The CBS News reporters were apparently shocked to discover the problem. Maybe they should try watching Fox News. They've had a reporter on the border for three years now.
Trump challenges Biden to an immediate debate
During a Monday appearance on Dan Bongino’s radio show, former President Trump challenged President Biden to an immediate debate. He said, "I’d like to debate him now because we should debate. We should debate for the good of the country."

Asked about this, Biden mockingly replied, “Immediately? Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me, too. He’s got nothing else to do.”
I could be mean and say that Trump has plenty to do, from dealing with a lot of bogus lawsuits and indictments to figuring out how to fix the gigantic mess Biden has made of the nation and the world. But I’m too nice, so I won’t say that. I’ll just point out that nowhere in Biden’s response was there any indication of whether he will actually debate Trump. Maybe he’s too busy eating ice cream and taking vacation days.
Fani Willis Update:
The Washington Free Beacon obtained audio from 2021 of a whistleblower warning Fulton County, Georgia, DC Fani Willis that her campaign aide kept wanting to spend federal grant money meant for a center for at-risk youth on things that were illegal, including (stop me if you’ve heard this before) MacBooks, “swag” and travel. Two months later, the whistleblower says she was “punitively demoted” and perp-walked out of the office by armed guards.

The campaign aide denied the story and accused the whistleblower of making up the story as a “cash grab.” But the Free Beacon obtained the audio, the center was never opened, and some of the grant money was reportedly spent on computers, which was not allowed.
More Two-Tiered “Justice” System Updates:
Former Biden White House aide Andrew Slavitt is refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee to testify on how he allegedly colluded with social media to censor conservative speech.
While Trump aide Peter Navarro was arrested, convicted and sentenced to four months in prison for the same thing, even though he cited executive privilege, Slavitt apparently has no worries about that. The Biden White House has already reportedly told him that the subpoena isn’t enforceable and the Biden DOJ will not prosecute him criminally or sue him in civil court for defying it.

Also, while two men linked to Nancy Pelosi’s son Paul Pelosi Jr. are about to be sentenced for their part in a fraud and money-laundering scheme, Pelosi will not be charged, even though the Daily Mail reports that documents appear to show he was involved in paying bribes for building permits. This marks the seventh federal case in which he was allegedly involved, all with no charges. A perfect record!

When did having a (D) after your name turn into a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card?
Great responsibility
Pop singer/songwriter Taylor Swift is so popular that media outlets are proclaiming her the most influential celebrity in the world. But as Spiderman would say, “With great power comes great responsibility.” She needs to think harder about that, and I don’t just mean not urging her followers to vote for Democrats who are ruining their lives with lousy schools, high crime, and open borders that let in drugs and sex traffickers.
Ms. Swift told the Guardian newspaper, “Obviously, I’m pro-choice.” In a Netflix special, she explained that she started being outspoken about her Democrat politics because she was disgusted by Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s pro-life policies. Swift said, “It’s really basic human rights, and it’s right and wrong at this point, and I can’t see another commercial and see Marsha Blackburn disguising these policies behind the words ‘Tennessee Christian values.’ Those aren’t Tennessee Christian values. I live in Tennessee. I’m a Christian. That’s not what we stand for.”
Now, I’m not going to tell someone that they can’t be a Christian unless they’re pro-life, although protecting innocent life seems like a pretty basic requirement to me. I would hope that anyone who accepts Jesus would quickly see the many references to the sanctity of life, the commandment not to kill, and the assurance by God to the prophet Jeremiah that “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you” and realize that God doesn’t consider a child in the womb to be an expendable lump of cells. These are the things that tend to quickly turn new Christians into pro-life Christians as they learn more about the Bible. She’s right about one thing, she just has it backwards: the right to life really is “basic human rights.”
What's truly worrisome about Ms. Swift’s comments is that she is one of today’s most influential figures to millions of young women, yet she’s telling them outright that Christians do not stand for pro-life values. That’s not a statement I would want to have to someday stand before the Lord and explain.
I have a theology degree and am a former minister, but I don’t remember ever coming across the Book of Taylor in the Bible. But I do recall Matthew warning us that many false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders, but they will deceive and mislead many people. Even Spiderman could tell you, that’s not something you should want to be. I truly hope and pray that as a self-professed Christian, she will reconsider what she’s saying about the sanctity of life, knowing that so many impressionable young people are listening.

Hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin, who has donated more than $500 million to Harvard in the past, announced that he has no interest in continuing to fund the elite university. And he made it abundantly clear why: instead of training young people to become the future leaders of America, he said they’re now getting them lost in a “wilderness of microagressions” and a DEI agenda, and Harvard has turned into “a whiny snowflake factory.”
Related: Mike Rowe explains why having a four-year college degree no longer “resonates with pride” with many Americans. He said that in the age when everyone gets a trophy and an A, Americans don’t see a degree as proof anymore that you’re smart, hard-working, disciplined or well-trained, but just as a credential you can purchase.
Massachusetts’ Democrat Gov. Maura Healy issued an executive order to no longer require a college degree for about 90% of state jobs, except when “absolutely necessary.” They will instead employ “skills-based” hiring. Interestingly, she couched this as a victory for “diversity and inclusion” in the workplace. Yet many will take it as a tacit admission that because universities have focused on “diversity and inclusion” to the exclusion of teaching real information and critical thinking, college degrees have become worthless as an indicator of having any skills.

Massachusetts joins several other states in eliminating most degree requirements, including Virginia, Pennsylvania, Utah and Maryland.

Rowling as “transphobic,” and gently leading him to realize that he’s been hoodwinked into believing something for which there is no evidence.

“Egregious” election fraud in Michigan, but alternate electors face felony charges
It turns out, the 16 individuals who made up the alternate GOP slate of electors --- well, 15 electors plus the former GOP co-chair --- for the State of Michigan in 2020 had good reason to doubt the accuracy of the election results in their state.
But we’ve also learned that Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel had good reason to doubt it as well. She covered that up, though, to enable charging those Republican electors, reportedly all seniors, who if found guilty on all counts could end up spending the rest of their lives in prison.
Nessel piled on the charges. Here are the felony counts each faces, just for being an alternate:
--- one count of conspiracy to commit forgery (14 years)
--- two counts of forgery (14 years)
--- one count to commit uttering (?) and publishing (14 years)
--- one count of conspiracy to commit election law forgery (5 years)
--- two counts of election law forgery (5 years)
During the press conference in which Nessel outlined the charges against these defendants, she stated outright that they were GUILTY. Just wondering, where did she go to law school?
All these designated electors did was participate in the constitutional, “just-in-case” activity of placing themselves on an alternate slate of state electors, to be ready if the vote count turned out differently. This has legal precedent, most notably with the state of Hawaii during the razor-close Bush v. Gore election in 2000. But AG Nessel dealt with them as if they’d had “no reason” to suspect anything was wrong with the election results. At the same time, as GATEWAY PUNDIT reports:
“...She herself was fully aware that in OCTOBER, a month before the 2020 election, a full-scale investigation involving the Muskegon Police Department, Michigan State Police, lead investigators from the Attorney General’s office, and Michigan SOS Jocelyn Benson’s office was underway, involving over ten thousand voter registrations turned in by one individual at the city clerk’s office (in) Muskegon, Michigan.”
When this investigation discovered that the fraud spanned several states, the FBI took over, and their work supposedly is ongoing. But of course, the FBI is where such cases go to die, and we know that Director Chris Wray would tell Congress that (say it with me!) they “can’t talk about an ongoing investigation.” For when you have time, here’s the original must-read story from August...

As they report, “Two members of AG Dana Nessel’s Criminal Investigation Division were assigned to the operation, yet curiously, she failed to mention the investigation to the public. To this day, Dana Nessel is still claiming there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud in Michigan, despite the fact that she knew her office and the office of her friend, Michigan’s crooked SOS [Secretary of State] Jocelyn Benson, were involved with the Michigan State Police in a large-scale investigation that took place across the state before it was taken over by the FBI.”
Secretary of State Benson maintained there was no widespread voter fraud in Michigan and did not mention the FBI investigation publicly. But Corey Ames, an analyst for the Secretary of State’s office, confirmed that a quantity of the voter application forms they found in their investigation were “clearly fraudulent” or “highly suspicious.”
According to the GATEWAY PUNDIT, the investigation “exposes criminal election fraud involving thousands of fraudulent ballots in Michigan by an organization that set up temporary offices in several swing states prior to the 2020 election.” This is what Michigan officials had apparently known about and kept hidden. Seems as though having an alternate set of electors might have been a good idea, in the unlikely event that someone dared to take a peek at the allegations of fraud.
Fast-forward to the present, and we see how Nessel’s failure to acknowledge the fraud that was being investigated in her state is shattering the lives of innocent people who made the mistake of supporting President Trump.
Through documents obtained through a Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request, investigative reporter Yehuda Miller can show that DOJ officials knew TWO DAYS AFTER THE 2020 ELECTION about a very serious accusation of election fraud reported at the TCF Center in Detroit on election night. An email from Michigan attorney Troy Cummings to Matthew Schneider at the DOJ referred to “an egregious situation” involving vote-counting and “ballot fraud in Detroit.” The email included documenting photographs. Cummings said, “I’m following up with some information on one of the most egregious situations that I encountered over the past few days at TCF Center. There were many examples of significant election-integrity issues. But this example involves actions of government officials from both the local and state levels that are shocking if true.”
Schneider found the claims “alarming” and forwarded the information to several other DOJ officials.
There were other allegations as well, such as those made by whistleblower Jessica Connarn, who signed an affidavit swearing that election workers were told to change the dates on the ballots so they could be counted. Another serious allegation of fraud at the TCF Arena was discussed with the FBI and “determined not to fall within the jurisdiction” of either the FBI or the Michigan AG’s office. So, apparently it went...nowhere.
The GATEWAY PUNDIT article has much more detail, showing clearly that the DOJ was made well aware of the serious problems in Detroit. So why didn’t they (or the state) go after the alleged fraudsters? The only ones facing charges and perhaps prison are the INNOCENT PEOPLE who were enlisted to be the alternate electors for the GOP? These weren’t “fake electors,” as they are so often called. They were simply there “in case” the vote, in the end, turned out differently. And with all the hijinks, it’s looking more and more as though the vote SHOULD have turned out differently.
Considering all we know at this point, any comment about Democrats wanting to “safeguard our democracy” should be met with peals of laughter. Much more to come.

On Friday, the GATEWAY PUNDIT’s Jim Hoft went on Grant Stinchfield’s NEWSMAX show to report the Detroit story and also to discuss how the Democrats might use their well-worn playbook to cheat this year. They’ve organized like crazy, as they always do, and depend on big-time Democrat donor money to fund groups such as GBI Strategies that turn out multitudes of voter registrations of dubious origin. I hope you’ll watch this short video --- the discussion starts about a minute in --- because everything that’s at stake for our country comes down to how we handle this. We have to cancel it out with a REAL landslide victory.

RELATED: Moving to another Secretary of State, Colorado’s Jena Griswald, who called President Trump an “ineligible insurrectionist” when the State Supreme Court dropped him from the GOP primary ballot, has been notified by the U.S. Supreme Court that she’ll have 10 minutes to make her case that he should be barred from running on 14th Amendment grounds.
She’s already made it clear where she stands, though. She’s filed multiple briefs with the Court. She’s also gone on CNN to call President Trump a “danger to American democracy.” Isn’t it ironic that she’s calling HIM a danger to democracy as SHE’S trying to get him taken off the ballot so his supporters can’t vote for him?
If you’re a regular reader of this newsletter, you know the details of the Colorado case, but THE EPOCH TIMES has a good recap. Is telling your supporters to “fight like hell” tantamount to insurrection? Does it mean to overthrow the government? (Really??) Trump says he meant that metaphorically --- just as virtually everyone does who uses that expression. And what about that “peacefully and patriotically” part?
There are other legal issues involved here as well, including whether invoking the 14th Amendment can even be done at the state level. Griswold will get her 10 minutes; then Trump’s side gets 40 minutes to present their oral arguments, after which the respondents will have 30 more minutes. The Big Day is this Thursday, February 8.
Of course, one reason Democrats are all fired-up to convict Trump before the election or otherwise get him off the ballot is that Biden’s support is so weak. (Again, this isn’t about “democracy” at all.) Glenn Greenwald went on Jesse Watters’ FOX NEWS show Monday night to talk about the “freakout stage” the Democrat-controlled corporate media have reached.
They’ve cried wolf about Trump so much --- he’s a Putin puppet, he’s a dictator, he’s Hitler!! --- that people who don’t already believe this rot are just tuning them out.
Will we see much of either candidate during this election season? Trump is ready to do interviews and debate, but mainstream media refuses to even cover him. They won’t cover Biden, either, but only because that would show his shocking ineptness. (Of course, we think they’ll have a different candidate in a few months, anyway.)

FOR FURTHER READING: Marshal Trigg, an election law contributor to the DAILY CALLER, has a great piece on so-called “voter suppression.” Keep in mind, he says, that ending voter suppression (which isn’t a real thing anyway) isn’t the point of what the Democrat Party is doing now.
