More on Pelosi's overseas trip

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has left Taiwan for Korea, but China’s saber-rattling and threats are still rumbling on. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Pelosi's brief visit a "political provocation" and said Beijing "absolutely does not accept this." And four US Navy warships are conducting what they say are standard military drills east of Taiwan.

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/nancy-pelosi-lands-taiwan-china-tensions-high-level-visit

But kudos (yes, I’m actually saying this) to Nancy Pelosi, for standing up to China’s threats, making the visit, and very publicly standing up for human rights and the great, freedom-loving nation of Taiwan (yes, it’s a nation, and one I’ve visited many times, somehow without China threatening a nuclear holocaust.) Too bad our corporate CEO’s, Hollywood stars and pro athletes who make big bucks bending over the CCP's slave state don’t have the guts or ethics to do the same.

Besides, having set off China’s threats by stating that she might visit, she would have made America look even weaker if she hadn’t gone. And the Biden White House sure doesn’t need any help looking weak in front of China, like this disgusting White House invertebrate who practically licked Xi’s loafers while declaring, “We do not support Taiwan independence.”

https://www.revolver.news/2022/08/indian-television-explains-why-china-doesnt-just-invade-taiwan/

Personally, I predict that China will somehow find a way to get over their snit and back down without starting World War III, unless, of course, the Biden White House throws them some concessions for nothing in return, which would be SOP.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to know why big, strong China hasn’t just invaded tiny Taiwan after all the decades of threats, this brief video from a news source in India does a much better job of explaining it than anything I’ve seen in the American media.

Latest expose from Project Veritas

Are you interested in American military history, especially the Revolutionary War? Like to display and exchange iconography from that era like the Gadsden Flag, the Betsy Ross flag and the Liberty Tree? Or quotes like, “When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty” or “Well-regulated American militia”?

https://thepostmillennial.com/breaking-project-veritas-reveals-fbi-lists-gadsden-flag-2a-revolutionary-war-imagery-as-extremist-symbols

Well, congratulations! According to leaked FBI documents, you might be an “anti-government or anti-authority violent extremist” or specifically a “militia violent extremist” who needs to be under government surveillance.

I shudder to think what these people would say about the Founding Fathers. Oh wait, never mind: I already know what they say.

Paul Pelosi update

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s wealthy husband Paul Pelosi is scheduled to be arraigned today on misdemeanor charges of DUI, and the California Highway Patrol report on the incident was finally released on Tuesday. It shows that both the DUI and the auto collision were worse than initially reported.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/08/02/new-details-on-paul-pelosi-arrest-reveal-he-allegedly-had-more-than-just-alcohol-in-his-system-n606131

The damage to both vehicles was extensive, the other driver declined medical treatment but complained of pain and other issues the next day, and the report revealed that Pelosi’s DUI was the result of a combination of alcohol and an unspecified drug. There’s more at the link, including the interesting tidbit that when asked for his license, he also handed the cops his 11-99 Foundation card. That’s a CHP charity that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children. I guess he assumed that membership has its privileges. We’ll soon see about that.

Must-See Video

Behold our future, if this White House has its way. An electric-powered bus in India was caught on video trying to climb up a steep hill on a road with hairpin turns and a steep drop along the side. It struggles to keep moving forward…stops…and begins slowly rolling backwards.

https://www.westernjournal.com/watch-electric-bus-fails-climb-steep-hill-passengers-forced-jump-ship-begins-reversing/

Luckily, the driver was able to stop it in time after the passengers scurried out and lightened the load. The electric bus eventually made it over the hill, with the passengers walking alongside it. No word on whether any of them were pushing it.

I don’t know whether this video is a better illustration of the future of transportation under President Biden or the economy under President Biden.

"Worldwide Caution" issued

Following the drone-strike killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahri in Kabul, the State Department has issued its first “worldwide caution” to Americans abroad since 2019.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/spencerbrown/2022/08/03/biden-admin-issues-first-worldwide-caution-for-americans-abroad-since-2019-n2611176

Because of concern over heightened possibilities of terrorist attacks, demonstrations, kidnappings and other threats against Americans, they recommend that travelers outside the US maintain a “high level of vigilance and practice good situational awareness.”

What does all that mean? It’s pretty vague, but you can read more at the link. You might also want to reconsider your summer vacation plans in Afghanistan.

RIP Vin Scully

The Great American Pastime has lost another of its links to its glorious past with the passing of longtime Dodgers baseball announcer Vin Scully at 94.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/dodgers-longtime-play-announcer-vin-scully-dead-94

Scully was the Dodgers' main game broadcaster from 1950 to his retirement in 2016 at 88, marking the longest career in that field in history. He is being remembered as not only the greatest game announcer of all time, but also a humanitarian, a legend, and “the gold standard for class, dignity and professionalism.” That link above has lots of information about his amazing career, and Jennifer Van Laar at Redstate.com offers a tribute to the man whom she calls both the “greatest of all time” and “the quiet leader we all yearn for.”

 About the Kansas Abortion Vote

In the first statewide vote since Roe v. Wade was struck down, Kansas voters rejected a constitutional amendment that would have given the legislature the power to restrict abortion.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/kansas-voters-reject-constitutional-amendment-granting-lawmakers-ability-regulate-abortion

The amendment would have reversed a 2019 state Supreme Court ruling that the state constitution’s protection of “natural inalienable rights” including “personal autonomy” extended to the right to abortion. Voters rejected the amendment by 20 points. It’s not clear whether that’s an accurate reading of Kansans’ real beliefs about abortion, or if they were swayed by it being too soon since the Roe overturn and all the hysteria over it, or the millions of dollars spent on the race by abortion providers and proponents from outside the state.

While I’m saddened and disappointed by the outcome, this is something that I’ve long advised pro-life activists to prepare for. If Roe v. Wade was ever overturned, the issue would return to the states where it belongs, and then the battle would move to a new front: winning over hearts and minds of the voters in each individual state. Just as the pro-abortion side will eventually have to stop screaming and threatening Supreme Court Justices and realize that they’ve got to make their case to state voters, the pro-life side needs to develop strategies to counter the tsunami of misinformation and obfuscation from the people who call killing babies in the womb “reproductive health care.”

It's going to be a long, 50-front campaign, and this vote was only the first skirmish.

Bonchie at Redstate.com takes a closer look at the losing anti-abortion amendment in Kansas and how media talking heads are trying to claim that means abortion has energized the Democrats and they’re going to win big in November. Don’t know what they’ve been smoking, but I assume they all live in states where it’s legal.

GOOD NEWS that the Florida & California governors are publicly clashing with each other. That will help take the political focus off BIDEN and on POLICY ISSUES, which Republicans running against incumbents must do.

One provision of the so-called "inflation reduction act" that is deeply concerning but little known, is this: there are provisions in the bill that will harm our food supply and exacerbate shortages. The reason not everyone knows this is that the bill is 725 pages long, and I think it is one of those things where you to have to pass it to see what's in it. My husband told me that Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly were discussing this today and in this bill there is funding to pay farmers not to grow crops. That is something that has been done for many years, but if this bill has to specify payments now as part of the "inflation reduction" it would seem that possibly these are new and additional payments.

I have not yet read the 725 pages, but this information made me curious and I have looked to see what Agriculture people say about this aspect of the bill. There is so much. One thing is, the bill includes $300 million to help farmers to transition to "organic" farming. Yeah, the government of Sri Lanka tried that a couple years ago, and I have read that now they do not have enough to eat and people are starving in Sri Lanka, and protesting. In a free market society, I would think we would just let supply and demand sort this out, if people want organic, they can buy organic, and if farmers can make money on it, they will do it. But pushing hard for organic has led to starving people in Sri Lanka. I almost said it led to "unintended consequences" but I think someone knew what they were doing and intended this consequence.

Another provision of this bill would be to help farmeres to be greener & help the climate, which sounds like what is happening in both Netherlands and in Canada currently. We always used to hear about "carbon footprint" and all that, but now, in Holland, they have something like a "nitrogen czar," well, "nitrogen minister." For many years, we all thought nitrogen in the soil was a good thing because it helps crops to grow, and then we have food to eat - but now, nitrogen from cows is evil and Dutch farmers have been getting the picture that they will have to eliminate up to 95% of their cows in order to get their nitrogen emissions down to pretty much nothing, because - all that manure with all that Nitrogen - it's a pollution and disastrous to the climate. The fact that Holland is in the top 5 food producing nations of the world is no matter - all those cows making all those cheeses and dairy products, have got to go, and if few people in some other country have to starve, no problem, because massive world starvation is not nearly as big a problem as climate change. Dutch farmers have been protesting because some will lose their farms entirely if they don't comply, but they will have to slaughter most of their herds anyway. So when I am reading that this bill will pay for farmers to be more green, I don't think they are talking about helping people to have food, but rather, moving toward planned starvation. We're already seeing shortages on the store shelves, and this is not a time for wild experiments some of which have already failed elsewhere.

At this time I am wondering when the right develops Operations Orders as a good military tactic. The left has one. It is titled Cultural Marxism and uses a reign of terror to get it's way. Out here in Washington the RnC is paying to keep RINOs in office

I grew up in Los Angeles and was blessed to listen to Vin Scully from my earliest memories. He was a wonderful announcer who was able to turn a baseball game into story time. He could make a 12-0 baseball game sound interesting. RIP Vin.

Now I know you do not read your comments. Once again in this morning's edition you have the statement that there will be no evening edition. This has been going on for several days and I commented on it before. I enjoy reading your editions, but I won't take the time anymore to comment.

Oh boy ! Oh Boy !
Since the DOJ is suing Peter Navarro for his use of private email for - whatever - while advising Trump, the precedent has been set for suing, and prosecuting Hillary for using her private email account for - anything she wanted.
Again, I say Oh Boy ! Oh Boy !
