A Catch-22 for Democrats

The Democrats are caught in a Catch-22. It’s obvious that they want complete and permanent one-party power and are willing to do ANYTHING to get it, as Thursday proved beyond a shadow of a doubt. Yet every time they get into power and enact their policies – none of which work, and many of which fail spectacularly with unendurable misery resulting – they drive Americans away and lose power. They can only hope that by constantly changing and redefining terms (“We’re no longer ‘liberals,’ we’re ‘progressives!’”), the people will forget how toxic their policies are and vote them back into power, until they get reminded again, good and hard.

There’s no denying that over the past few years, Americans have endured an unprecedented onslaught of “gender” propaganda from the Democratic Party. We’ve been told there’s such a limitless number of genders that I expect the next Spiderman movie to be called “Into the Genderverse.” Judging by the way their media lapdogs frame this gender fantasy as established fact and any questioning of it as “transphobic” or “controversial,” you’d think that all but a few obsolete fossils have now swallowed the gender Kool-Aid.

But what is the real effect of forcing all this “gender fluid” propaganda onto the public? Well, it appears to be gradually convincing more and more Americans that…there are only two genders, male and female.

Blogger and law professor Ann Althouse reports that the Public Religion Research Institute has been conducting an annual study of Americans’ views on gender. In 2021, 59% of Americans said there are only two genders, while 40% said there are many “gender identities.” In 2022, after a year of gender smorgasbord hype, those numbers shifted slightly…to 62% and 35%, respectively. And in the latest survey, by 2023, 65% said there are only two genders and just 34% said there are many.

I don’t know if the radical gender politics activists have gone so far off the deep end, especially with pushing the “transing” of children, that people are now recognizing their ridiculousness and rejecting them in growing numbers, or if they’re just so obnoxious that people are rejecting their “wishing will make it so” arguments out of sheer annoyance. But it is good to know that screaming in people’s faces that they WILL accept the complete denial of biological reality “or else” is not a good strategy for winning friends and influencing people.

And to prove that’s no outlier but an inevitable result of giving arrogant, incompetent leftists power (people are quickly reminded of why they hate arrogant, incompetent leftists), according to the latest Gallup Values and Beliefs Survey, after more than two years of far-left wokeism and Biden demonizing conservatives, America is getting more conservative.

For most of the past eight years, Americans were about evenly split on whether they were conservative or liberal on social issues. In 2021, 33% described themselves as conservative or very conservative on social issues, while 34% were liberal. Just two years later, 38% say they’re conservative or very conservative on social issues, while only 29% are liberal. That’s the highest number of conservatives since 2012. In some scary news for Democrats, part of the reason is that a voting bloc they assume they own, younger voters, is turning right.

After two years of watching Democrats throw open borders, release criminals, castrate kids, put drag queens and gay porn in elementary schools, and call for aborting babies up until their bar mitzvahs, Millennials now self-identify as 40% conservative, 31% moderate and 26% liberal. Well, at least when you say you identify as conservative, the Democrats don’t try to castrate you. At least, not yet.

Garth Brooks has a new bar

Garth Brooks has a new bar under construction in Nashville to be called the “Friends in Low Places Bar and Grill,” and he wants it known that Bud Light will be carried there. Brooks said, "I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another. And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are. It’s not our decision to make. Our thing is this: If you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a--hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway."

So he hasn’t even opened yet, and he’s already calling a large section of his potential customers bigots and “a—holes”? I think I know who hired Bud Light’s former marketing expert!

Update

I spoke about this in my online exclusive video commentary, but here’s an update on the Christian street preacher in Reading, Pennsylvania, who was handcuffed and arrested for preaching the Bible across the street from a “Pride Month” rally. He has now been released and the disorderly conduct charge dropped after police say they reviewed video of the incident.

The arresting officer claimed that the video didn’t capture him shouting “derogatory” comments at the LGBTQ crowd across the street after being warned. But as you can see in my commentary or at this link, there’s no cut in the video, and the only thing he appears to say is “Dude (?), God is…” and at that point, the cops turns, charges and handcuffs him.

Even if charges were dropped, I still hope he files a lawsuit because his First Amendment right to speak freely in a public place was clearly taken away by force. The city government and police department need to learn an expensive lesson that quoting the Bible in public is not “derogatory” speech, and even if it were, even derogatory speech is protected speech. At least, that’s what I assume from the fact that all the leftist thugs protesting outside Supreme Court Justices' homes in clear violation of actual laws have yet to be arrested and taken away in handcuffs.

Analysis: Trump indictment is agenda-driven “nonsense”

A few days ago, we discussed the likely strategy of Lisa Monaco at the DOJ, using “classified documents” as a pretense for the Mar-A-Lago raid when they’re called something different in the indictment: “documents with classified markings,” which aren’t even necessarily still classified.  (When documents are declassified, the old markings remain, as a sort of history.)  Monaco --- a former Obama attorney whom we theorize is the real power behind Attorney General Garland --- couldn’t have intended to prosecute Trump for possessing classified documents, because she knows perfectly well that he has the authority to possess them.  Instead, the indictment talks about “defense-related documents.”

Sundance at THE CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE, in a follow-up to his last commentary, says this is “a very specifically deployed obtuse wording intended to create the impression of something nefarious when nothing nefarious exists.”  He doesn’t expect Judge Aileen Cannon to be taken in by this.

Back when the National Archives and the DOJ were asking Trump to return documents, they specified these as documents that contained “classified markings.”  Trump, who has authority to declassify, was not under obligation to obey.  This is a must read.

Sundance also said that if NARA or prosecutors were really interested in national security issues, they wouldn’t be playing “obtuse word games in order to structure court filings simply for media narrative engineering and propaganda purposes.”

As a tag, he suggested Trump hire an attorney named Eric A. Dubelier and “let him have fun with it.”  Intrigued, we looked him up and found that in 2019, the WASHINGTON TIMES billed him as “Robert Mueller’s top courtroom adversary.”  This piece is a refresher on what Mueller’s pit bull Andrew Weissmann did when trying the Enron case to destroy the accounting firm Arthur Andersen --- a conviction that was unanimously reversed years later in 2005 by the Supreme Court, after Arthur Andersen had been ground to dust.

Dubelier faced Mueller and Weissmann in court when he represented Concord Management, the only one to respond out of all those Russian individuals and firms charged with election interference for trolling the 2016 election.  Dubelier has seen how these prosecutors tailor a charge to fit the facts they have.  Now that prosecutors in the Mar-A-Lago case have fixed it so Trump has to replace two top attorneys --- more on that below --- maybe he should hire this guy.  Very interesting reading…

We’ve known for some time that President Biden was lying when he said he wasn’t involved in the Mar-A-Lago raid.  That’s because a mere document dispute with the National Archives would not normally trigger such an aggressive move, but the head of the National Archives got the DOJ involved, and at their instruction got Biden to sign off on what’s known as a “special access request” for the documents to be given to the FBI to examine.

As Mark Levin said Sunday on LIFE, LIBERTY & LEVIN, this request dates back to August of last year.  (The raid was August 8, a date which will live in infamy.)  On August 23, FOX NEWS reported that “the Biden White House, at the request of the Justice Department, signed off to have the FBI and the intelligence community examine hundreds of pages of classified documents former President Trump turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), a newly-surfaced government letter reveals.”

Aside from the fact that Biden is lying, the idea that NARA would go to the ‘Justice’ Department to do this is, Levin said, “extraordinary.”  The DOJ told them they’d have to go through the White House --- the President and the White House counsel’s office --- to get the “special access” for the FBI.

Levin reminded his audience of the unconstitutionality of “general warrants,” which call for sweeping searches like the one at Mar-A-Lago.  The framers of the Constitution “hated” general warrants, which are what we call fishing expeditions today.  The Fourth Amendment reads, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

“Probable cause” means to have a reasonable basis for believing a CRIME has been committed.  By any law, it is not a crime for the President to have even top-secret classified information.  This doesn’t seem to matter to our government any longer, which feels no constraint against these free-wheeling searches.

Levin had a heavily-redacted copy of the warrant for the raid, dated August 5.  It calls for a search of “a mansion with approximately 58 bedrooms, 33 bathrooms, on a 17-acre estate.  The locations to be searched include the ‘45 Office,’ all storage rooms, and all other rooms or areas within the premises used or available to be used by FPOTUS [former President?] and his staff and in which boxes or documents could be stored, including all structures or buildings on the estate.”  Think that might be a little broad?  Why didn’t the agents just grab shovels and dig up the grounds?

Levin called it “a defective search warrant, on many grounds.”

He also mentioned the Fifth Amendment, on due process of law.  This includes the right to legal counsel.  But DC federal Judge Beryl A. Howell, an Obama appointee, ruled that prosecutors can, according to THE NEW YORK TIMES, “pierce assertions of attorney-client privilege and compel one of his lawyers to answer more questions before a grand jury.”  This judge “found that the government had met the threshold for a special provision of the law known as the crime-fraud exception.  That provision allows prosecutors to work around attorney-client privilege when they have reason to believe that legal advice or legal services have been used in furthering a crime.”

As we’ve reported, the testimony of these two Trump attorneys, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, was not damaging to Trump, but because they’d been forced to testify in the case, they had to leave Trump’s defense!  So hang the Constitution; these prosecutors found a way to take away Trump’s attorneys, the ones well versed in his case, and force him to find new counsel.       

Levin also brought up that case from 2012 about the audio tapes in Bill Clinton’s sock drawer.  The decision in that case could not be clearer:  the President has “sole discretion” about segregating personal materials from Presidential records.  This was never appealed.

Since prosecutors know Trump has full authority on this, and they need a law that carries a criminal penalty, they’ve reshuffled their cards and now say this is about “gathering, transmitting or losing defense information.”  In October 2022, the American Bar Association said, “The Constitution, executive orders and case law clearly give the President broad authority to classify and declassify documents.  Similarly, prevailing law also requires federal officials to follow certain procedures in declassifying documents to establish specificity and memorialization for future handling.  But the extent of a President’s legal authority to unilaterally declassify materials --- without those formalities --- has yet to be challenged in court.”

So this DOJ decided to challenge it, all right, by indicting the leading GOP candidate to be the sitting President’s opponent next year.  Good grief.

Levin went on to contrast this with the Hillary “no-reasonable-prosecutor” email case in 2016, saying

this case “is much worse than you know.”  An archival commentary he cited, from national security attorney Peter Van Buren writing for REUTERS, gives stunning details.  Read this, and you’ll wonder how any prosecutor would NOT take that case.

RELATED:  Here’s a story to illustrate the contrast between the handling of the Trump and Biden cases.  It’s a tale of intrigue surrounding the DOJ’s non-investigation of Hunter and the Bidens, and the mysterious death of a potential witness while waiting to give evidence.

Rudy Giuliani said Saturday on NEWSMAX that in 2020 he offered to give the Pittsburgh U.S. attorney information about the head accountant for Burisma, wife of the former owner, who had access to “smoking gun evidence” of a Biden international bribery scheme.  She’d said she was willing to give up the offshore bank accounts, “including the Biden accounts.”  Then Attorney General Bill Barr moved the case to Delaware, where Giuliani was ignored.  The accountant, he said, had been under threat of death during this time and “died under mysterious circumstances.”

Regardless of how she died, this is what happens when investigators sit back and don’t move on a case.  People forget, documents “disappear,” witnesses drop from sight...or even (conveniently?) die.  Wonder if anyone’s investigating her death...

Democrats seem to have forgotten

As I mentioned in my video commentary, the Democrats who are using schools to attack Christian values seem to have forgotten that certain of those values are shared by Muslim parents as well. One of them is not letting radical leftists indoctrinate their children with transgender and graphic sexual materials.

Now that Muslims, who are important swing voters, are waking up to the “unholy alliance” they’ve formed with the ever-more-hedonistic Democratic Party, might I also point out to them that the highest “thought leaders” in the leftist sphere have actually taken it upon themselves to play God. Not only in their claims that God makes a lot of mistakes in assigning genders to children and they have the power to “fix” that, but some of them also literally want to use AI to rewrite the Bible. I assume the Christian Bible will be only the beginning of the various holy books they have the hubris to think they can “correct.”

Flag Day is this week

Wednesday is Flag Day, a holiday first proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson, commemorating the Second Continental Congress adopting the United States flag on June 14, 1777.

But some people are questioning whether Biden understands just which flag he was supposed to be honoring after the White House marked “Pride Month” by posting three giant flags on the front of the building, with the American flags on either side with a giant rainbow flag in the center.

Many furious critics pointed out that this is a violation of the US Flag Code (Indict him!!), which mandates that whenever flags are displayed together, except in very limited situations, the US flag must always be in the center and at the highest point. Defenders tried to claim this requirement was fulfilled because there was a US flag on a flagpole on top of the building, where many people at ground level probably couldn’t even see it. They might as well have tried to argue that there was a US flag sticker on a satellite passing miles overhead.

Of course, since Biden also used the occasion to rail against state laws barring the surgical mutilation of gender-confused children and described the “Pride Month” attendees as the most courageous group he’s seen in the recent past, his grip on reality is questionable.
