BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
"Every Bit As Bad As Obamacare"
By Mike Huckabee
Yesterday, the House passed on party lines the Senate’s version of the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill, and President Biden will sign it. This means that most Americans making less than $75,000 a year will get a single $1400 stimulus check, plus some other benefits, like an extra $300 a week in unemployment through early September. By some estimates, only about 9% of the bill’s record spending goes to fighting COVID. Hundreds of billions will be spent on Democrat wish list items, including massive transfers of wealth to bail out blue states.
Here are some of the changes the Senate made to the House version (at least, they removed the $140 million for a rail project in Nancy Pelosi’s district, which I’m sure would’ve prevented a lot of COVID cases.)
And what would any Democrat bill be without some tax hikes hidden inside it?
But if you can tell me what erasing the deficits of New York and San Francisco, caused by years of overspending, leftist mismanagement and driving away the tax base, has to do with fighting COVID-19, then you win a cookie.
As for Republican reaction, Sen. Pat Toomey summed it up by saying, “I think this $2 trillion monstrosity is every bit as bad as Obamacare and that’s saying a lot."
Primetime Joe
By Mike Huckabee
Tonight, after a record 50 days in office with no press conferences, President Biden will finally make his first primetime address, mostly about the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 bill he plans to sign. I will take the White House’s word that it will be live and not prerecorded, but I’ll bet that tomorrow, not a single Biden staffer will have an unchewed fingernail. Here’s what to expect:
What not to expect: Biden answering any questions.
In a related story, the latest Rasmussen survey found that 52% of Americans are concerned that Biden still hasn’t held a press conference and only 48% have confidence that he’s physically and mentally up to the job of being President.
New Blog
By Mike Huckabee
Not everything my team and I write makes my newsletter, or for that matter my website. The new blog on my website, is a place to find everything you might have missed and then some. It is updated throughout the day and will be a new way for me to share information with you.
We started blogging on Tuesday and will keep it going if people take an interest.

Just Words
By Mike Huckabee
The “anti-racist” movement is also apparently an anti-poverty program for some people.
Why am I not surprised to learn that this law firm that’s making so much bank off of allegedly fighting racism often works with the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has made that scam a science?
Biden Manages A Two-Fer
By Mike Huckabee
You’ve got to hand it to President Biden: there aren’t many Administrations that kick off with actions so incompetent and contrary to common sense that within just weeks, they result in a crisis that forces the abandonment of not one but two major campaign promises. But Biden’s managed such a two-fer.
His reversal of Trump’s border security policies has created a surge of migrants, including so many unaccompanied minors that they not only have to be housed in the same shelters that Democrats described as “putting kids in cages,” but now, they’re being filled to 100% capacity in defiance of his other big campaign issue: taking COVID-19 precautions super seriously.
As the article at the link notes, this is putting politics ahead of public health and safety. It’s similar to, but far riskier than, the lifting of state mask mandates that Biden condemned as “Neanderthal thinking.” This is thinking that even Fred Flintstone would think is stupid.
Must-Read
By Mike Huckabee
Bari Weiss at City Journal gives a frontline report from the battle over the minds of America’s children. And to show that the leftist takeover of schools isn’t just a concern for conservatives in the Heartland, Weiss talks (off the record, of course) with self-proclaimed liberal parents and teachers in some of the most elite, fashionably liberal areas of deep blue New York and California.
These parents and teachers are appalled at the brainwashing of their children (schools teaching them that America is bad, white children are racist and should feel guilty about their skin color, etc.), and tentatively searching for ways to fight back, but they’re also terrified of standing up to it. Doing so might get them labeled as racist, or worse, Trump supporters! It could cost them their places in their liberal social circles, and get their kids branded so they don’t get into the elite, Ivy League schools that have also been taken over by leftist totalitarian brainwashers.
This would be my advice: put your children’s well-being ahead of your own social standing, jump up and scream about it, fight for your kids to get a real education, and if they end up not going to Brown or Yale and getting indoctrinated into socialism, then count your blessings.
Here are some schools where they’d be better off anyway.
Voters' Remorse
(These comments originally appeared in last night's Evening Edition. I am re-upping them here for my morning newsletter readers who may have missed it).
By Mike Huckabee
Sometimes, I get up, look at the news, and there are so many similar stories, it’s almost as if the news had a theme that day. Wednesday’s theme appears to be a predictable one: voters’ remorse.
Here’s a story by a woman who hated Donald Trump so much, she called him the “most dishonest person imaginable.” She even wrote a book to slam him, about how important the truth is, and she worked hard to elect Biden and celebrated his “victory.”
Now, she’s suddenly been slapped with a hard truth. The “PRO Act” bill he’s pushing that just passed the House, and that would take the disastrous California AB5 bill that killed small businesses and the gig economy nationwide, threatens to destroy her career as a freelance writer. She writes, “The bill could end my ability to be my own boss, set my own hours and otherwise live the American worker's dream.”
In short, it’s a shining example of a typical piece of “progressive” legislation. Sorry, but this is what you voted for, and that's the truth.
Next, the US Chamber of Commerce, which worked hard to elect Biden and Democrats instead of the most pro-business President in decades, is feeling stunned, shocked, betrayed that Biden is pushing that pro-union bill that would destroy contract workers and small businesses. Redstate.com editor Jennifer Van Laar, who’s led opposition to AB5 in California for years, tweeted, “Odd, they pulled the EXACT SAME (BLEEP) on us in CA. They chose not to fight AB5, then were up in arms when there were terrible consequences. S***w you, US Chamber of Commerce. You don’t care about small business or business at all.”
But probably the group with the least convincing tears of regret is a group called “Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden.” They endorsed him despite his clear record as part of an Administration that persecuted nuns for refusing to pay for abortion drugs and contraceptives; his statement that if the SCOTUS overturned Roe V. Wade, he’d go to Congress and make it the law of the land; and the fact that his running mate is the most pro-abortion person ever in the White House.
Now that Biden is doing exactly what anyone with more than two brain cells knew he would do – rolling back religious freedom protections, funding Planned Parenthood, forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions in other nations, attempting to destroy the Hyde Amendment, etc. etc. etc. – they profess to be upset, shocked and disappointed that he’s instituting the most radical pro-abortion agenda in history. Would they feel the same way if they discovered that dogs bark?
I’m having a hard time feeling pity for any of these people because all they had to do was subscribe to this free newsletter and they would have been warned for most of the past year exactly what was going to happen if the Democrats won the White House and Congress. What I do feel sympathy for are the many millions of Americans who will suffer needlessly because of their willfully uninformed votes, and for the countless children who will never survive the womb because this Administration continues to promote a barbaric practice that denies obvious facts of biology, one of those “sciences” that they claim to believe in so fervently.
A Reader Writes Back...
Hi Mike - your newsletter is the only one I subscribe to, and I agree with 99.9% of everything you say and appreciate the viewpoint you come from. I actually just went back and watched some of the 2016 Primary debate with you in them and realized that you are exactly what we need as a President. Oh, if only! Definitely need to put Jesus first if we're ever to return to greatness.
One point I'd like to bring up: I feel as if we've allowed the left to control language and I think it's time we push back. When conservatives walk through the halls of congress, they're insurrectionists and when leftists burn down cities and do billions of dollars of damage, they're 'mostly peaceful protesters'. Conservatives seem to use the language that is fed to us by the left wing media and it would be nice if we could just stop repeating them. It's not as though anything they say is the truth anyways, right?
Love you, Mike. Keep up the good work. We need more like you!
