For those who wonder why we just keep digging into stories that the media would love to bury, like online censorship of conservative voices in the 2020 election, here’s why: It’s because you sometimes have to do a lot of digging before you finally hit paydirt. And thanks to the diligence of investigators like House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, we just hit the motherlode.

Meta CEO and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has written a letter to Jordan, finally admitting that the Biden/Harris Administration pressured Facebook to censor Americans (which it did), and that Facebook killed the accurate New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s incriminating laptop because of the FBI’s claim of “Russian disinformation” coming, and they were wrong to do so. Wait, I thought the claims of the government pressuring social media sites to censor conservatives were just a crazy, right-wing conspiracy theory!

Zuckerberg wrote, “It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story. We’ve changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again — for instance, we no longer temporarily demote things in the U.S. while waiting for fact-checkers.”

If you think this is “too little, too late,” you have a point, especially considering polls showing that if the public had known the laptop was real and heard about it, Biden would have lost and the US and the world might have been spared untold cost and misery. But in another sense, it’s a huge victory, since the pressure to censor free speech has been ramped up so much that social media executives are getting arrested in Europe for not censoring users, and some Americans are calling for similar unconstitutional actions here.

Under the circumstances, any pushback against such government-backed censorship is a victory, even if it’s just a first step.
