THE EVENING EDITION By Mike Huckabee
Good evening! Here are some stories from me that I think you will want to read.
DAILY BIBLE VERSE
THE LATEST
1. SANGFROID CORNER: Self-described “mama bear” Amy Curtis took on the thankless task of rounding up all the hair-on-fire reactions from liberals to Tuesday’s elections that she could find.
Of course, there’s only one reason why Democrats lost: everyone who didn’t vote for them is a misinformed, racist white supremacist. Why else would you not vote for the people who brought you skyrocketing inflation, open borders, the Afghanistan disaster, defunding police in the middle of riots and crime waves, the highest gas prices in years, and schools that indoctrinate kids with racist, leftist propaganda while siccing the FBI on parents (sorry, “domestic terrorists”) who object? Obviously, it must be xenophobic racists who elected the first black female immigrant Lt. Governor in Virginia history.
This is an epic thread. My favorite part is the multi-tweet detour into listing just some of the things that leftists have declared to be racist, including coffee, lawns, figure skating, politeness, ‘90s haircuts, hiking, smiling, beards and white people giving loving adoptive homes to minority orphans.
2. THE END OF "HYPOCRISY-PALOOZA '21": The big “climate change” summit in Glasgow known officially as COP26 (and unofficially as “Hypocrisy-Palooza ’21”) did more to clear the air of any lingering pretenses of elitist superiority than it did to remove CO2. It began with politicians and billionaires flying in on hundreds of CO2-spewing private jets (some of them fresh from helicoptering to Bill Gates’ birthday party on a superyacht), and after a few days of discussing how they could only change the weather if they confiscated $100 trillion of other people’s money, it ended with this:
Green activists who are trying to get everyone to give up meat and eat bugs and weeds are OUTRAGED™ after discovering that 60% of the menu items served to the climate elites were high-carbon meat or dairy products (no, “high-carbon beef” doesn’t specifically mean beef that’s charcoal-grilled, although that is delicious.)
Oh, but don’t worry: the high-carbon foods were labeled with the pious admonition, “According to the WWF, we need to get [the carbon footprint of food] down below 0.5 kg CO2e [per meal] to reach the goals defined in the Paris Agreement. By including climate labels on our menus, we aim to make it easier to achieve this goal – together.”
Of course, nobody had to pay any attention to the labels, but the mere fact that they were there signaled how much they care, and isn’t that what’s really important? After all, President Biden and the rest are working hard to make sure that everyone else cuts down on meat and dairy by making them so expensive that we’ll have no choice other than to eat bugs and weeds. Don’t they deserve filet mignon? Actually, I’d say they deserve the haggis…
3. PHOTO OF THE DAY:
Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert modeled her own version of AOC’s “Tax the Rich” Met Gala gown. It’s the “Let’s Go, Brandon” dress. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/boebert-celebrates-republican-win-with-her-own-version-of-aocs-met-gala-dress
4. LESSONS LEARNED?!?: The lesson the left seems to have taken from Tuesday’s vote is, “Acting like loud, obnoxious brats really works, so let’s triple down on that.” A group of “eco-activists” surrounded Sen. Joe Manchin’s car, screaming, cursing and threatening him to “convince” him to vote for Biden’s big spending bill. He very slowly pulled away, and now they’re accusing him of trying to run over them.
I’d say the only thing these “eco-warriors” convinced him of is that it might be time to buy a Hummer.
As for those bills, with Tuesday’s elections having bolstered Sens. Manchin and Sinema’s stances that the American people want the brakes put on the left’s big-spending agenda, Congressional Republicans are suggesting that it’s possible neither the infrastructure bill nor the social spending bill may garner enough support to pass.
Nancy Pelosi claims she’ll have the votes to pass both bills in the House today, but that could just be bluster, since she hasn’t set a time for the votes yet. She can only afford to lose three votes, which should give you an idea of how slim the Democrat majority is that they’re using to try to force through massively expensive, controversial, transformative legislation. Some members are complaining that it’s absurd to expect them to vote on a constantly-changing, 2,200-page bill without any time to read it. (They have to pass it first to find out what’s in it. Where have we heard that before?)
Senate Republicans believe the bigger bill won’t even make it through the Senate.
Here’s a link from Fox News that will be continuously updated as this story develops.

5. AOC KNOWS WHY:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows why Democrats were wiped out for the first time in years in Virginia: they just weren’t left-wing enough.
AOC said if only the candidates hadn’t moderated their stances so much, they would have energized the “progressive” base and won.
As usual with her statements, there are multiple layers of “flat wrong” in there. First of all, you can’t win an election just by turning out “progressives.” A July 2020 Gallup poll found that only 26% of Americans self-identify as “liberal.” Pew found that even among Democrats, only 47% describe themselves as “liberal” or “very liberal.” The majority say they’re either “moderate” or “conservative.” I know that math isn’t the strong point of socialists, but neither 26% nor 47% of half the population is a majority.
Also, Virginia’s new Attorney General-Elect Jason Miyares pointed out to Townhall.com that before the election, the House of Delegates was 55-45 Democrat, and they passed every piece of “progressive” nonsense that came in front of them, from “social justice” to the Green New Deal to gun control to unfettered abortion. Surely, that must’ve “energized” “progressives.” All 100 seats were up for reelection, and when the votes were counted, the House of Delegates had flipped Republican by 52-48.
So here’s the truth: it wasn’t that Democrats didn’t run far enough to the left. It’s that they governed far to the left, the people got a bellyful of that, and they turned out in droves to kick them out of office.
This is what comes from living in an impenetrable ideological bubble. You think your ideas are wildly popular, just because all the people you talk to like them.
Incidentally, if your brain is hurting from trying to analyze AOC’s explanation of the Virginia election, you may need a crate of Excedrin after hearing her explanation of why there’s inflation and why the cure is for the government to spend another $5 trillion at bare minimum.
6. KYLE RITTENHOUSE UPDATE: The prosecution in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial has been described by the Legal Insurrection blog as “an absolute train wreck.” First, FBI surveillance video contradicted their claim that Rittenhouse chased down his “victims” (they chased him.) Then, their own star witness refuted the state’s narrative and bolstered Rittenhouse’s self-defense claim.
Daily Caller reporter Richard McGinness was recording the Kenosha riot on a cell phone when Rittenhouse fired the first shots, hitting protester Joseph Rosenbaum, whom McGinness helped to get to medical aid. Prosecutor Thomas Binger was trying to get McGinness to testify that Rittenhouse shot Rosenbaum in cold blood, but McGinness said Rittenhouse was pointing his rifle at the ground when McGinness lunged at him and tried to grab his weapon. Binger suggested that McGinness’ interpretation of what Rosenbaum was trying to do was “pure guesswork.” He responded, “Well, he said, ‘F--- you,’ and then reached for the weapon.”
That jibes with what was said by another “prosecution” witness who’d been patrolling that night and said he was with Rittenhouse when Rosenbaum threatened to kill them both. He claimed Rosenbaum had been hyper-aggressive and acting in a violent manner, throwing rocks and setting fires, and during an earlier altercation, said, “If I catch any of you guys alone tonight, I’m going to f---ing kill you!”
At this rate, I don’t know if the defense will even need to call any witnesses. The prosecution is making their case for them.
Related: Rittenhouse’s attorneys accused the prosecution of colluding with a police detective to hide possibly exculpatory video evidence from the defense.
7. FACT-CHECKED BY MSNBC: A reporter asked President Biden when inflation, currently at a 13-year high, might start coming down. He replied, “Things are a hell of a lot better, and the wages have gone up higher, faster than inflation.”
I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that’s not true. When you factor in inflation, the buying power of wages has dropped. In short, you might be getting paid more, but it doesn’t go as far as it did before you got your raise.
What is surprising is that Biden’s response was so obviously untrue that he even got fact-checked on it by MSNBC!
