DEBT CEILING BILL
Passed in the House
As I predicted yesterday, the House passed the budget and debt ceiling bill known by the “only in Washington” title of the “Fiscal Responsibility Act,” largely thanks to Democrats supporting it. It passed 314-117, with 71 Republicans voting no. It now moves on to the Senate.
Chip Roy of the Freedom Caucus called it a deal “that shouldn’t have been cut,” and conservatives complained that Speaker McCarthy gave up too much and got too little in return. But McCarthy claimed “we did pretty dang good” and said the bill is only a “first step.” There are some good things in it that you can read at the link, and the CBO estimates that the spending restraints will reduce deficits by $1.5 trillion over the next decade. Although when you consider how much money Congress wants to spend that we don’t have over the next decade, that sounds like a drop in the bucket.
Here are more details about the contents of the bill…
https://dailycaller.com/2023/
And more of the Republican reaction to it passing the House...
Not willing to get bogged down in a divisive battle that’s as good as over, former President Trump said of the bill, “It is what it is.” I don’t think anyone can argue with that.
GENDER POLITICS
“Gay Pride Month”
It’s June, which means it’s “Gay Pride Month” (Oh goody, I hear you say; we haven’t heard enough about this topic over the past 11 months.) That means President Biden, or whatever loopy leftist staffer who actually writes the stuff he can’t even read off a teleprompter, issued a Presidential Pride Month proclamation that goes waaaaaay beyond simply endorsing tolerance and inclusion.
It’s the most radical statement ever issued by any President, coming down strongly in favor of forcing girls to compete against biological male athletes and giving body-altering chemicals and surgery to confused minors, I assume regardless of parental consent. (Reminder: in blue New York state, it’s illegal to give tattoos to anyone under 18 because minors are too immature to understand the consequences of permanently altering their bodies – but if they want to chop off their breasts and genitals, full steam ahead.)
As long as we’re on the subject, here’s just one of the results of Biden’s obsession with erasing biological sex differences. Gee, if males who “identify” as females are real girls, I wonder how one of them was able to so savagely beat up two girls at once:
Related: Lately, there have been a number of conservatives online calling for boycotts of various clothing manufacturers, retailers, etc., who sell Gay Pride themed products. I’m a bit concerned that they’re spreading themselves so thin and aiming so wide that they threaten to dissipate their effectiveness.
There should be some level of discernment between companies that market products like Rainbow T-shirts to adults and those that are actively promoting the grooming or “transing” of children. In short, don’t get so overwhelmed with boycotting every store that sells size XXL rainbow T-shirts that you’re too busy to notice when, say, a clothing manufacturer like Hollister, which is tied to Abercrombie & Fitch, not only markets the clothing, but also “partners with” and donates $250,000 to an organization that pushes to get LGBTQ+ propaganda into schools. The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) also works to put reading materials about how to “gender transition” without parental knowledge into schools.
Hollister is apparently so all-in with this radical agenda that they’ve promised to give that quarter million bucks to GLSEN “regardless of sales.” So that means that if their sales tank, that donation will hurt their bottom line even more. Just food for thought…
Free Speech Rights
A federal court in Boston denied a request for a restraining order to protect the free speech rights of 7th grader Liam Morrison. Morrison has been censored and punished for daring to wear a T-shirt to school that reads, “There are only two genders,” even though school officials allow the opposite view to be freely and constantly expressed. He was told that his views are discriminatory and non-inclusive, with the usual absence of self-awareness on the left that they are discriminating and refusing to be inclusive of his views.
This isn’t the end of the legal fight. The Alliance Defending Freedom and the Massachusetts Family Institute are suing on his behalf, and they will continue pressing the case to the next hearing, and to an appeal after that, if necessary. In the meantime, I predict that Liam might get an “F” in biology class, but he’ll still be the only student who actually understands the subject.
America the Beautiful
God's creation is all around us. We are blessed with his bounty. Take a moment to enjoy it.
The “fastest girl in Connecticut”
Here’s yet another reason to cheer on Chelsea Mitchell, who was known as the “fastest girl in Connecticut” during her high school track years. That is, until she lost 20 races because Connecticut started allowing male runners who “identify” as girls to compete in women’s track. Mitchell and three other female athletes are now bravely standing up to the trans mobocracy and suing the Connecticut Association of Schools and the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference to force them to overturn that insane, biological science-denying policy.
Mitchell is now 20, but she told the New York Post, “I wanted to give voice to my story and help other girls out there so that they wouldn’t have to experience this…At the end of the day, this is just about fairness. This is about biology.” She said, “It was just obvious to everyone there that they had a huge advantage. Everyone could see it.”
I’m convinced that even people who advocate for this know in their hearts that it’s lunacy, but they just can’t bring themselves to admit that the “fastest girl in Connecticut” shouldn’t be a 6-foot-6 dude with a mustache.
POLITICS
Lawfare
The Biden “Justice” Department has once again proved why it deserves those quotation marks with its highly-suspicious timing. One month ago, Republican West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced that he would challenge Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin. Ten days ago, a poll showed Justice leading Manchin by 22 points. And yesterday, the Biden DOJ announced a civil lawsuit against coal businesses owned or run by Justice’s son, Jay Justice, accusing them of over 130 violations of federal environmental laws, “posing health and safety risks to the public and the environment.” They’re demanding $7.6 million in penalties and fees.
That legal action against the leading GOP candidate’s family member immediately raised protests from top Republicans that the politicized Biden DOJ was once again engaging in “lawfare,” targeting political opponents to try to influence elections. It didn’t help the optics that these alleged dangerous environmental violations supposedly happened over the past five years, but they didn’t do squat about it until right after his dad challenged a Senate Democrat.
I’m sure the other side will claim that the DOJ is “just doing its job” of enforcing the laws. But here’s the problem they’ve created for themselves: even if that’s true – even if there is nothing political whatsoever about this lawsuit, and the timing is totally coincidental – who’s going to believe that now? This DOJ has acted so reprehensibly with its glaringly different ways of dealing with, say, Trump vs. Hunter Biden or by ignoring violent Antifa protesters threatening conservative Supreme Court Justices at their homes while hounding MAGA protesters into prison just for being in DC on January 6th -- they have utterly trashed their reputation for treating all citizens equally under the law.
Nobody seriously believes that justice is blind in DC anymore, and those who claim to believe it only say that because the DOJ’s thumb is on their side of the scale. The public’s trust in our federal institutions of law enforcement to be fair and just, which is the very glue that holds our diverse society together, has been destroyed – ironically, by an Administration that loves to accuse its opponents of “shattering norms.”
Rebuilding the public’s trust will be a long and difficult job, and it can’t even begin until corrupt toadies like Merrick Garland who are currently in charge are escorted from their offices, kicked out of the building, and barred from any federal office for life.
For those keeping score:
The latest candidates planning to join the GOP presidential primary are Chris Christie, with Mike Pence planning to announce next week in Iowa, and former National Security Adviser John Bolton saying he “hasn’t ruled it out.” Trust me on this, John: Rule it out.

IN OTHER NEWS
Beware
Today, a website called BidenLaptopMedia.com released 10,000 photos from Hunter Biden’s laptop to the public. I know what you’re thinking: “Just what the Internet needs: another porn site.”
https://www.foxnews.com/
But the site’s backers say this is about “truth and transparency.” Also, "If the American people want to know what their first family is like, they're going to get it. And we're not going to be taking out photos that paint the Bidens in a good light."
Also, you’ll be relieved to know that they edited out sensitive materials from the photos, such as Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and nudity. The site’s founder claimed it took them two months of work just to “redact the genitalia.” Sounds painful.
DEI task force is disbanded at UNC
In what I sincerely hope is the start of a massive wave trend, the University of North Carolina announced that it’s disbanded its “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” task force without implementing any of its crackpot recommendations. Those involved imposing a lot of racial “social justice” politics about “microaggressions” and America’s “systemic racism” into the medical school curriculum.
So make a note: it’s still safe to see a doctor who graduated from the University of North Carolina.
Excellent article
This is an excellent article by Dawn Merrill at American Thinker that illustrates how people who don’t pay attention to conservative media are so misled, even our own parents. It started when Dawn’s father sent her an article from Vanity Fair about evil Republican “book banners” and dared her to rebut it. As she puts it, “You asked for a rebuttal, dad,” so she wrote one.
https://www.americanthinker.
Merrill reminds her dad of all the adult things he made sure she was not allowed to see when she was a young child, then describes the gross pedophilic pornography that’s being forced into elementary schools but somehow was not described by the Vanity Fair writer who was defending it. She writes, “We don’t put Playboy, or Penthouse, or Hustler in elementary school libraries. Do we call that “book banning?’”
She makes some other great points, too. It’s an excellent illustration of how leftist media outlets can belch out thousands of words on a controversial topic yet somehow never inform the reader of the most basic facts, creating articles and TV “news” reports that actually leave people more ignorant than before they started reading or watching. Definitely read this, and share it with your friends who get their “news” on politics from places like MSNBC, “The View” and glossy lifestyle magazines.
Talk about waste...
As if the billions in waste, fraud and theft of federal COVID relief funds were argument enough against the Democrat solution of solving problems by blasting money at them with a cannon, here’s one more. Meet the Manchester, New Hampshire, high school officials who are using leftover money from the “American Rescue Plan” that was supposed to help people pay for groceries, health care and rent during the pandemic, and spending $500 of it on a drag queen show for students during Pride Month.
Chris Christie recommended Wray to Trump for FBI director
While this is technically an FBI update, let’s take a moment to consider the impending presidential candidacy of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. I guarantee you there’re related.
In May of 2019, former U.S. Attorney Joe DiGenova revealed who it was that recommended Christopher Wray for the position of FBI director to replace the disastrous James Comey after Trump fired him. DiGenova said it in an interview for WMAL, which we’d link to but the audio appears to have been taken down. Fortunately, GATEWAY PUNDIT has a number of eye-opening quotes from the interview about Wray and what he was up to even back then. DiGenova also reveals who recommended Wray for the job.
It was Chris Christie.
This is a must-read article, offering details of what Wray was doing to protect the FBI back in the Steele “dossier” days. Yes, these are allegations, made by one person, but in the time since DiGenova made them in 2019, we’ve seen Wray repeatedly live up to them.
Later, in November 2021, when Christie had a memoir coming out, BUSINESS INSIDER did a piece quoting a few preview excerpts from the new book. Christie had written that Trump blamed him for recommending Wray to be FBI director, telling him one day when they were together during a debate prep session that Wray was “the worst member” of his administration. “Do you want to know who the worst member of my administration is?” Trump asked Christie, according to the book REPUBLICAN RESCUE. Your guy. Your guy Chris Wray. He’s the worst.”
Christie actually credited himself in this book for Wray’s hiring, as it apparently was done after he personally vouched for him. Wray had been Christie’s attorney during his New Jersey “Bridgegate” scandal. (Recall that this weird scandal involved the prosecution of then-Gov. Christie’s top aides for allegedly retaliating against a Democrat mayor by closing lanes on the George Washington Bridge.) Wray was in private practice then, and billed New Jersey taxpayers $2.1 million for representing the New Jersey governor. Christie wrote that he’d “always been impressed by [Wray’s] intelligence, professionalism, and his work ethic.”
As recounted in the book, Christie defended Wray to Trump: “He’s really not [the worst], Mr. President. In fact, he’s done a great job with the FBI. He’s reshaping it, reclaiming it. He’s fired all the people who were executive types in the Comey administration. Chris Wray is doing a great job for you.”
Trump pushed back, according to the book. “No, he’s not. He’s doing an awful job, and he’s your pick. He was your pick.” Christie tried to say he was actually Trump’s pick --- though we can clearly see that Wray was chosen on Christie’s strong recommendation --- and defended Wray again, saying Wray was “one of the best picks you’ve made in the entire four years.”
According to the book, Trump blew up at this. “Bull-BLEEP!” he yelled, and abruptly ended their debate prep session.
Keep in mind, this story was being reported by the left-leaning BUSINESS INSIDER as Christie’s book was about to come out, in 2021. The subtext was not Trump’s frustration with a wrong pick, but his anger at Wray over his “failure to investigate Biden and his son Hunter.” At that time, the anti-Trump media were characterizing Trump’s desire to investigate the Bidens as a political move and a Very Bad Thing. So Christie was the good guy for recommending Wray. Wow, there’s been a lot of water under the George Washington Bridge since then.
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-
Christie and Wray go way back. During the George W. Bush administration, they worked together at the Department of Justice. While Christie was a U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, Wray was assistant attorney general leading the Criminal Division at the DOJ. Christie has said they worked together “a lot” during this time.
Here are a few more fun facts linking Christie with Wray, as presented by the news outlet (don’t laugh) HEAVY.
https://heavy.com/news/2017/
Christie said on Wednesday that he was planning to announce his candidacy next week. Tell us, Mr. Wray Advocate, after the disaster that Wray has been, how you think you’re going to get even one vote in the Republican primary now that we know your role in choosing him --- besides, of course, those of your immediate family and, of course, Christopher Wray and his friends in the permanent bureaucracy.
Now, to the FBI update. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Sen. Charles Grassley reportedly spoke with Wray on the phone as scheduled Wednesday about the possible release of a document that has been in the FBI’s possession for four years. According to an FBI whistleblower, this document, a Form “1023,” contains a detailed allegation by a confidential human source (CHS) that then-Vice President Biden accepted a $5 million bribe from a foreign national in exchange for specific policy decisions. The document has been under subpoena by the Oversight Committee for the past month, and Wray has yet to turn it over.
Recall that the FBI whistleblower told CBS NEWS that the Bureau was actively labeling evidence against Hunter Biden as “disinformation” when they knew it was true.
Sean Hannity interviewed Comer Wednesday night about the phone call. Director Wray did finally admit the form exists and that they have it, and he gave Comer the opportunity to review it in a secure setting --- a “SCIF” --- but even in that setting it was going to be redacted, so Comer is not satisfied. Unless he can see the complete unredacted version, he’s still planning to move forward with charging Wray with contempt.
“The level of confidence that we have in Director Wray only went down” during the phone call, as he only admitted the existence of the “1023” after (this is new) Comer and Grassley told him they’d already seen it --- I assume in at least somewhat redacted form --- and knew what it alleged. “All we want is this form,” Comer said. “And it’s not classified. They can redact the name of the informant. I’m fine with that. I would’ve redacted it if I had the document, you know, without that redaction. Let’s protect the human informant…” But Wray wants more redactions.
Apparently, most news reports on the phone call left out that one little detail about Wray offering to show them only a redacted version. Look --- even FOX NEWS left it out.
RELATED: America First Legal, the organization founded by Stephen Miller, has sued the National Archives and obtained more of VP Biden’s official records relating to Rosemont Seneca. Here’s something interesting: “Two days before then-Vice President Biden and then-Second Lady Jill Biden departed for Egypt, Kenya and South Africa in June 2010, their White House staff brainstormed with Hunter to ‘talk about Africa.’”
Sometime after the call, Hunter emailed Jill’s advisor Anthony Bernal about “Nairobi ideas.” The National Archives redacted it ENTIRELY because “Release would disclose confidential advice between the President and his advisors, or between such advisors.”
Also, Hunter business partner Eric Schwerin emailed the Office of the Vice President about a “China Lunch” a couple of months before President Hu’s visit to the U.S. Again, the National Archives redacted this document because its “Release would disclose confidential advice,” etc. etc.
America First Legal has compiled much more that would strongly suggest Joe Biden was in close coordination with Hunter about his foreign trips. AFL President and General Counsel Gene Hamilton is not shy about using the term “influence peddling” and says that “with each release, we are painting a fuller picture for the American people of the extent to which the Biden family business was intertwined with the business of the United States.”
Finally, here’s a surprise: Tara Reade, the woman who has insisted for years that Biden molested her, is moving to Russia. She’s going because she feels unsafe in the U.S., having received so many threats. She’d gone to Moscow on vacation and decided she just couldn’t come back to America. She called Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, who is on the House Weaponization Subcommittee, and she said he told her he considered her a whistleblower and also was worried about her physical safety if she returned.
On May 7, she put out a tweet that went viral, saying “I want to make something clear. If something happens to me, all roads lead to Joe Biden. Joe Biden and DNC political machine threats, bullying and intimidation over the last three years will not work. I am not suicidal. I should not be under investigation nor am I a foreign agent. I am a private citizen. I was a former staffer of Joe Biden’s that has chosen to step forward to tell the truth. The tactics using intimidation and bullying to silence me and suppress me using DOJ and FBI and social media will not work. Leave me alone. I will testify under oath in Congress if asked to do so and tell what happened and what I know. The Biden corruption must end. Period…”
It has to say something that she feels so oppressed and threatened by the President of the United States and his Party that she thinks she’d be safer and freer in Russia.
