House Democrats continue policy leechcraft
Meanwhile, “progressive” House Democrats still think their policies haven’t bled the country enough yet. They want Biden to sidestep that inconvenient Constitution and use executive orders to force their leftist agenda onto America and apply even more leeches to the anemic US economy’s bloodstream.
Bottom line: if you know anyone who is actually thinking of voting for Democrats this November, suggest that they just shoot their own foot instead. It will accomplish the same thing, and it probably won’t cause as much pain or do as much harm in the long run.
In other “News, but not really” news
From laughing inappropriately at a question about Ukrainian war refugees to inflaming the Ukraine situation even worse by incorrectly saying that it's a NATO member, Vice President Kamala Harris continued to prove she is not ready for the one serious duty her job entails, being capable to take over as President if it becomes necessary. In fact, she’s wholly unfit for the job of Vice President, which was famously described as having so few responsibilities that it wasn’t “worth a bucket of warm spit.”
Say what?!?
Of course, nothing changed in America’s schools over our brief break, as news kept rolling in of schools doing things that made you wonder, “Who in the world thought it would be a good idea to expose students to this?”
Media covers for leftist failures
And as always, the media predictably tried to cover for leftist failures. For instance, they kept using the left's false and incendiary title of the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” to describe Florida banning inappropriate sexual content of any kind from classrooms of 3- to 7-year-olds. ABC even tried to convince us that a poll showed widespread opposition to banning inappropriate sexual lessons for small children.
That particular bit of spin was so vertigo-inducing that ABC was forced to acknowledge that the poll was flawed. Somehow, in an allegedly “random” poll of Americans, they’d managed to oversample LGBTQ respondents.
However, a Morning Consult poll found 51-35% support for restricting discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity below the level of fourth grade. The Daily Wire ran the most accurate poll that used the actual language of the bill to gauge public reaction and found that 64% of Americans supported it. The majority support held across every demographic group, including even 62% of Democrats.
Mitt Romney attacks free speech
Of course, one thing in the news that never changes is that we can always count on receiving stories about Sen. Mitt Romney that make us say, “Really, Utah? You couldn’t find anyone else to send to the Senate?”
Mitt didn’t fail to disappoint during our brief hiatus, as he managed to squeeze two headscratchers into just four days. He was (stop me if you’ve heard this one before) “the only Republican to vote with Democrats” on the Senate Health, Labor, Education and Pensions (“HELP!,” appropriately) Committee to continue the pointless, cruel and damaging mask mandate on children as young as two in Head Start programs.

As if to distract us from that, Romney inexplicably took to Twitter to accuse former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of treason for spreading Russian propaganda and of getting more people killed by saying that there are 25+ US-funded biolabs in Ukraine that we need to be concerned about securing. Not only is that an admitted fact, but it’s not treason to exercise free speech, particularly when we are not at war with Russia.
I’ll just stand back and pass on Gabbard’s response to Romney, since it was a thing of beauty, concluding with the suggestion that he do the honorable thing: apologize and resign from the Senate.
Stop fact-checking the Bee
The Babylon Bee recently ran a satirical story about President Biden giving Alaska back to Russia so that he could then be free to get oil from it. It was both bitingly funny and believable enough that USA Today actually ran a “fact-check” on it.
But the poor satirists at the Bee can’t make up ridiculous stories fast enough to stay ahead of reality. A Russian lawmaker who is known as “the Kremlin’s spin doctor” reacted to sanctions on Russia by demanding that the US return all Russian properties it has “seized,” including Alaska.
Two problems with that. First, the US didn’t “seize” Alaska, Russia sold it to us in 1867 for $7.2 million, and wags pointed out that Russia doesn’t have enough money to refund that much now.
The second problem, as Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy pointed out, is that if Russia can’t even beat the Ukrainians, they’d better think twice before they send their army to be slaughtered by all the heavily-armed Alaskans.
Biden nominee is out
Sen. Joe Manchin continues to protect America from the radical left, as his opposition to controversial Biden Federal Reserve pick Sarah Bloom Raskin forced her to withdraw her nomination.
Naturally, Raskin blamed Republicans for holding her nomination “hostage,” without noting that their opposition couldn’t have stopped her if it weren’t for Democrat Manchin’s “no” added to it. She also downplayed the reason they opposed her: her previous comments about wanting to use the Fed’s power to pressure banks, insurance companies and other financial firms to engage in “climate change” activism and discourage lending to oil and gas companies.
Yes, in a time of skyrocketing gas prices, runaway inflation, tanking stock markets, unprecedented national debt and potential world war that’s cut off Russian oil supplies, that’s exactly what the Fed needs to be concentrating on.
Broadcasting Bravery
Here’s an example of the kind of bravery in the name of broadcasting the truth that we seldom see here in America, even where there are zero consequences for journalists who question authority.
Uncle Vanya
In protest of the attack on Ukraine, McDonald’s ceased operations in Russia. In retaliation, Russia launched its own fast food chain. No, it’s not called “Borscht On A Bun.” It’s called “Uncle Vanya,” and its proposed logo seems “strangely familiar.”
