Sad News
I’m sad to have to report that Minnesota Republican Congressman Jim Hagedorn has died at 59. No cause of death was revealed. He tested positive for COVID-19 last month, but he’d also revealed a recurrence of kidney cancer last July.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/republican-rep-jim-hagedorn-dead-age-59
His wife, Jennifer Carnahan, released a statement reading, "Jim loved our country and loved representing the people of southern Minnesota. Every moment of every day he lived his dream by serving others. There was no stronger conservative in our state than my husband; and it showed in how he voted, led and fought for our country."
All of us here extend our sympathies and prayers to Jennifer and to Jim’s family.
The Left's New Religion
I’ve often written over the years about how leftists, having abandoned genuine religious faith, seek to fill the holes in their souls with other things, whether it’s some grand “cause,” or Earth worship or deifying political figures such as Obama (or “The Lightbringer,” as some anointed him back in 2008.)
Lately, that yearning for phony spirituality and false prophets has manifested itself in the left’s religious fervor over COVID restrictions. They treat Dr. Fauci’s latest contradictory edicts as if they’re handed down on stone tablets and believe that anyone who questions useless, destructive or unconstitutional government COVID rules is a heretic who must be shunned, banished, destroyed, even denied medical care and allowed to die (“Burn them!!”)
Showing them scientific research that proves their restrictions and mandates did little to no good at tremendous cost doesn’t faze them. For people who are so hostile to religion, they’re some of the biggest religious fanatics I’ve ever seen. Or maybe the more appropriate term would be cultists, since their leaders and idols are about as scientifically sound as L. Ron. Hubbard.
Think I’m overstating it? Here’s the latest example. We’ve recently seen studies and commentaries by medical experts who are finally getting over their fear of speaking up, all saying that mask mandates have little to no effect on stopping the spread of COVID. Infection rates in places with and without them are virtually identical. The most common cloth masks do little to block a virus that is unimaginably small. Besides, I pointed out long ago that most of us don’t follow the stringent CDC guidelines for using and discarding masks. Children not only suffer learning difficulties when forced to wear them, but they handle them in an unsanitary fashion, getting other germs and viruses all over them, then pressing them against their noses and mouths. They might as well be eating dirt.
In light of the new (actually, just newly acknowledged) data and shifting attitudes, many places are lifting mask mandates, even in blue states. Yet liberal pundits – the true believers and proselytizers of the Church of the Perpetual Virus Panic – are still (to borrow a phrase from the Lightbringer) clinging to their masks and religion.

Anchors on channels such as CNN and MSNBC continue to evangelize for mask mandates even as their own medical experts tell them the science has changed and it should be voluntary. “The View’s” Joy Behar just declared that she’ll continue to wear a mask “indefinitely” (Some of my less gallant readers will probably say they’re fine with that.) Behar even renounced her faith in the CDC because it’s preparing to alter its mask guidelines, saying, "Personally, I listen to the little voice in my head.” Yeah, that’s how a lot of cults get started. I thought this was about "following the science," not listening to the voices in your head like the Son of Sam.
In coming years, as the rest of us get on with our lives, will this cult continue to live on? Will we be able to identify the cult’s adherents by their masks that are no longer even considered medical devices but signifiers of the faith, somewhat like “face yarmulkes”? I wouldn’t be surprised. After all, they’re already pestering us in airports, the way some other cults used to.
My advice to them would be to put aside their bronze idols of Dr. Fauci, pick up a Bible and discover a real religion.
Biased purveyors of misinformation: "fact-checkers"
It’s been quite a week: first, Rep. Ilhan Omar actually says something I agree with (blasting “journalists” who are trying to intimidate donors to the Canadian truckers’ protest), and now, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has joined me in showing what partisan hacks the left’s self-appointed “fact-checkers” are.
To be fair, I don’t think that was her intention. But AOC released a video of her bragging about how she and other Democrats “fought tooth and nail” to make sure that “undocumented people” received stimulus checks, relief packages and FEMA assistance. Sen. Ted Cruz quickly retweeted her video, pointing out that when he tried to prevent the Dems from giving stimulus checks to illegal aliens, their “fact-checkers” repeated Dick Durban’s denial that they were trying to do that without bothering to do any actual fact-checking. He added, “They were wrong.”
No, one thing we’ve learned from all these “fact-checkers” is that people never simply get things wrong. They only “spread misinformation.” And when they do that, they must be banned from social media and other platforms. I’ll let you know when Facebook, Twitter, et al, ban these biased purveyors of misinformation, i.e, "fact-checkers."
The harassment of President Trump in New York continues
A judge in New York ordered former President Trump and his children Eric and Ivanka Trump to give depositions under oath in a fraud investigation of their businesses launched by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The judge wrote that James’ investigation “uncovers copious evidence of possible financial fraud, and wants to question, under oath, several of the entities’ principals, including its namesake.” This seems to center on a claim that Trump overvalued his companies in financial statements.
This week, Trump released a statement listing his accountants’ valuation of his companies and why it’s probably really less than their actual worth. You can read it all here:
https://klpprsn.com/2022/02/16/presidential-statement/
He said his accountants had resigned, not because they didn’t stand by their work but because they couldn’t take being constantly threatened, harassed and insulted. He blasted James for wasting so much time and resources hunting for any reason to charge him, his businesses, family or employees, while New York is in the middle of a historic crime wave. He also pointed out that for all the bloviating about serious crimes, there’s been only one indictment so far, against an elderly Trump Organization executive on piddling, seldom-charged “offenses” such as not declaring his company car on his income taxes.
Trump’s attorneys called the investigation a partisan vendetta and say it will be unusually easy to prove that because most officials who launch such abusive investigations don’t come out and openly campaign on it the way James did.
The Washington Post masquerading as news reporting
From its use of an illegally-hacked list of private data to try to intimidate Canadian freedom protest donors to its latest racist slur against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, the Washington Post this week proved that its de-evolution from once-respected newspaper to house newsletter for the DNC is now complete.
I already told you about WaPo’s reporter doxing the donors. In the latest leftist opinion piece masquerading as news reporting, a story about Biden’s Supreme Court nominations identified Thomas as “the Black justice whose rulings often resemble the political thinking of White conservatives.”
Funny, I thought that Justice Thomas’ rulings reflected his belief in the doctrine of original intent rather than judges acting as unelected legislators, a view broadly held by all conservatives, regardless of skin color. Black conservative Rep. Burgess Owens made a similar point in blunt terms, saying that WaPo was “staying on brand with racist stereotypes.”
After being called out, WaPo issued a “clarification,” saying that the story “imprecisely referred to Justice Clarence Thomas’s opinions as often reflecting the thinking of White conservatives, rather than conservatives broadly.” So it wasn’t a racist assumption, it was just “imprecise.” Nice try, but like a Rorschach test, the first thing you say reveals what you really think. And what WaPo revealed is that, like Joe Biden, they believe black people shouldn’t have individual, independent views of their own and that if they aren’t liberal Democrats, then they “ain’t really black.”
Thanks, guys, for the self-reveal. We’ll remember that when we read all your future reporting on related issues. If anyone still does.
The White Supremacists of San Francisco
What a surprise! When voters in one of the most liberal and diverse cities in America, San Francisco, turn out in force to kick three leftists off the school board by an overwhelming 78% landslide, what could possibly be the reason? It’s obvious, of course: the voters are all white supremacists who oppose “racial justice.” Well, at least according to one of the kickees.
I have to admit, I never realized there were so many white supremacists living in San Francisco. That job must pay a lot better than I assumed.
