---------------------------------------------

Yesterday, Congressional Republicans unveiled their new tax plan, the first major tax reform since the 1980s. And in response, Congressional Democrats hauled out the same greatest hits they’ve been replaying since at least the 1980s.

We had Nancy Pelosi wailing the moldy oldie “Tax Cuts For The Rich,” and Chuck Schumer and the Nose Glasses with their big smash, “Crushing Burden On The Middle Class.” Like any act that’s been on the road too long, they can mouth the words in their sleep, and to be honest, that’s what a couple of them appeared to be doing.

One problem: the bill doesn’t raise taxes on the middle class or give big “giveaways” to the rich (I always love the Democratic mindset that anytime taxpayers get to keep a little more of their own money, it’s a “gift” from the government.) It reduces the number of tax brackets from seven to four. A married couple making $24,000 to $90,000 will pay a rate of just 12%, with rates rising with income to 25%, 35% and finally, 39.6% for a married couple making over $1 million.

Will everyone pay less? No, all tax forms are wildly different, and payments will vary depending on where you live and which deductions you take. For instance, a new $10,000 ceiling on property tax deductions and a $500,000 limit on mortgage deductions may hurt wealthy and upper middle class taxpayers in blue states like New York and California, which have high state taxes and home prices. That’s one reason why Democrats might want to knock off the kneejerk opposition and work with Republicans to get some concessions in exchange for support, if posturing for the cameras isn’t more important than protecting their constituents.

But on average, it’s estimated that a middle class family of four will save $1182 a year in taxes. The claim that the plan raises taxes on the middle class is so blatantly false that even the Washington Post fact-checker gave it his highest baloney rating of Four Pinocchios.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Russian trolls tricked Michael Moore

By Mike Huckabee

In one of their more successful gambits, Russian trolls tricked about 5,000 Trump-hating liberals – including their Yoda, Michael Moore – into turning out for a rally at Trump Tower last November, to denounce Trump’s election as “illegitimate.”

That’s right: Russians helped undermine Americans’ faith in the fairness of the election, and Michael Moore and his followers unwittingly helped them do it. You can’t blame them for being duped, though: the rally organizers used the name “BlackMatters,” which looks a lot like “Black Lives Matter,” if you read it really fast on a tiny cell phone screen. Maybe it would’ve been more obvious if they’d called it “BlackOps.” It probably still wouldn’t have kept Michael Moore from showing up, though.

Millennials prefer communism

By Mike Huckabee

A shocking new survey of Millennials found that half say they would rather live in a socialist or communist country than in a capitalist democracy. Well, good news, kids: thanks to capitalism, there are planes leaving the US for one of those 24/7. But tell your parents not to rent out your rooms. If you aren’t killed or imprisoned in your chosen communist paradise, you’ll probably be moving back in with them in less than a month.

Russian targeting

By Mike Huckabee

Hey, ma, guess what?! I was targeted by Russia! This article shows the Facebook ads circulated by Russian trolls before the election, and one of them was targeted at people who like Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Jesus or me (well, at least I’m in good company). Like most of the others, it’s an amateurish ad/meme, one of thousands on the Internet. These are aimed at both Trump and Hillary, and seem to be intended more to stir up division and partisan passions than help either candidate. I can’t imagine any of them had an impact on anyone’s vote. If Congress really wants to investigate misinformation designed to skew the 2016 election, it would be a better use of taxpayer money to grill CNN and the New York Times.

"Huckabee" preview

By Mike Huckabee

A friendly reminder to join me this weekend for my TV show “Huckabee,” on TBN. “Inside Edition’s” Megan Alexander will tell us how she succeeded in the media without compromising her Christian principles. Radio host Michael Savage is on hand to discuss media bias. Dr. Carol Swain will tell us how the Southern Poverty Law Center is letting politics taint its once-reputable “hate group” list. Plus a visit with Naomi Judd and music from country music legend, “Whisperin’” Bill Anderson. All that and a few surprises!

Interesting theory

Interesting theory: Are all these sexual assault and harassment allegations from up to 20 years ago suddenly pouring out of Hollywood because now that liberals know Hillary won’t be President, they no longer have to worry about the wave of accusations engulfing Bill Clinton? And is this a way to “reset” their nonchalant attitude about Clinton’s history with women so they can next target Trump?

Appreciate your insights and reliable information so much! Thanks! On another subject.....Just imagine what it would have been like if the "right" had treated Pres. Obama the way the "Left" treats Pres. Trump today. I hope no one believes we were any more pleased with Obama's election (twice, yet) than the Left has been pleased with Trump's election. The Right, apparently just has more class, than to behave as the Left has behaved. Their pity party has lasted long enough, they need to start acting like real grown-ups, and quit the whining. Imagine, we could have whined and threatened for 8 miserable years...but I don't remember anyone getting shot over the election results, or hearing "famous stars" urging followers to "blow up the White House". Get over it, whiners, we're all tired of hearing it.

I look forward to getting your newsletter. It is always right on. The Congress needs a major overhaul. How about setting it up like the states set up the lists for jury duty. Two year stint with pay and perdiem. No retirement or other benefits. One term only. Might even get some talent in the Congress that was interested in helping the people instead of getting rich.
