I told you last week that when Republicans failed to keep their promise to repeal and replace Obamacare with market-based, patient-centered health care, and they started in with the balloon juice about working with the Democrats to hear their ideas, that the idea they would push would be a complete government takeover of health care. A Republican even put up an amendment to endorse single-payer government health care, and it got not a single vote from Democrats because, while they pine for it like teenage girls swoon for Justin Bieber, they couldn’t admit it publicly. At least, not until the Republicans imploded on their Obamacare repeal promise.
But now, Bernie Sanders is letting the cat out of the bag, telling CNN’s “State Of The Union” that “Of course we are” working on a single-payer health care bill that would amount to “Medicare for all,” and as soon as it’s ready, they’ll launch a national campaign for it. He said, “We should...move in the direction of every other major country.” Just be careful you don’t collide with all the people who are moving in this direction to get the life-saving care their government health bureaucrats denied or put them on a deadly waiting list for…that is, if they weren’t barred from coming here at all to seek medical treatment, as we’ve just seen in the UK.
Click the link to note how deftly Bernie sidesteps issues like the ruinous cost of single-payer plans that couldn’t even be made palatable in the far-left states of Vermont and California. And when the big Democratic push for “free government health care” begins, remember these two old jokes: “America can’t impose Canadian-style health care because then where would Canadians go when they need a doctor?” And “If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it’s free.” The jokes that last are funny because they’re true.
