Trump supporters aghast at today's inexcusable violence

“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

    I agree the violence that occurred at the Capitol was abhorrent!
    I was expecting peaceful protests from Trump supporters, but wonder if some "bad actors" infiltrated these protests!
    I don't blame Trump for their actions.
    I believe President Trump should communicate better with the American people, and the mainstream media should quit canceling him!
    I don't have trust or confidence in the Democrats because of their refusal to accept Trump as our legitimate President since 2016 election!

    I agree with you. The Democrats will not accept responsibility for any of their actions. I'm sure they will not admit that antifa was involved at the capitol. America needs prayer.

    Yes we are better than that BUT - I was six feet tall when I was 12. My parents were total pacifists and I was taught not to fight back. It didn't take long before the local bullies found out and I was a regular target. One day when I was walking a lonely road home two came along and beat on me with headlocks and fists to the face they finally got tired and I proceeded to home. No one was home and I went to the bathroom and cleaned up the mess that was my face. I made a promise that would never happen again. The next time I fought back. That was 70 years ago and I have never been bullied again. What happened in the November 4th election and since cannot stand.

    Antifa and BLM as well as Biden supporters were there. Antifa and BLM were in the building. Victory channel has name of person wearing horns and has Philiantifa logo on other 2 guys.

    So where we are now is "what is the use of voting if this election is allowed to stand " I personally SAW my vote change in the first Obama election. I voted in Virginia and as I closed the lever my green check mark changed to a red "x". No one believed me... Psalm 11:3...

    I know what happen at the Capital was wrong on accounts. But, I do not believe Trump supporters were the instigators. Too much was at stake for it to be them. A lot of nuts and Antifa hijacked the protest.

    I just heard Joe Biden speak about yesterday! Knowing how Democrats handled the Protests this summer, I did not appreciate his comments. Our country will never heal under his leadership. We are in real trouble. All we can do is PRAY!

    I have lost confidence in our Government. I have voted since I was 18 and I am now 60 but I will not vote again. The behaviors of the left and the right has proven that politicians do NOT care about the citizens. I will NOT promote or call Biden or Harris my president however, I have lost confidence in Trump. He acts like a child when he does not get his way. There is literally no person in Congress or the Senate I would endorse again. America has fallen, we are divided, the wars and rumors of wars will continue (Bible says so). Al I hear from Biden is chaos and blame; he will never unify America! The next weeks, months and years will be focused on crucifying Trump and blaming Trump and Republicans for everything. What a great fall America has fallen. We are the laughing stalk of the world. My focus is to preach Jesus until He comes! Blessings

    This violence was Antifa and you know it as does everyone else! I’m sure Trump supporters took advantage of what the others began but Patriots would not have started the violence and don’t you realize Americans are done with the double standards that are being applied. We are very angry, hurt and frustrated that the will of the people has been denied! Many of us realize this was our last hope of having the country we love continue! It is gone and not because of yesterday! It’s because of Republicans spineless, reprehensible behavior over the last 15 years! This was the excuse “false event” the left will use against Patriots for all that will follow! I and others feel completely hopeless! The only thing I know is that the Elite turn on one another and I’m will wait to enjoy watching them eat their own! How could we let this happen?

    I wasn't expecting to hear of any violence yesterday, but with the way things have been this past nine months I believe that it is just the beginning of something that none of us want. And that little bit of violence turned more than a few Senator's & Representatives thoughts to not oppose the election results.
    Personally, I wish they would have voted down the election results and agreed to a ten day investigation so this whole thing could be cleared up, one way or another.
    I know God is in control and I hope My Faith will still be intact when all is said and done.
    Georgia's Tuesday election was a repeat of November 3rd. Late night shenanigans and all.

    Shame on you Mr. Huckabee. You have no idea what it has been like living on the front lines for the last 20 years. You have given the Patriots no benefit of a doubt. Do you have any idea how many of them will commit suicide in the next week? I think the results of Republicans speaking against their own is going to be horrific. Shameful!

    Many of us believe that there were democrats, antifa, blm, etc. involved it the breaking into the Capitol building yesterday. I am 75 years old, a Christian, and patriot and Trump supporter. Really sick of the media, YouTube, Facebook, twitter, insta. The election was stolen, and if Mike Pence does not send that back to the states, then he will be the most hated man in the USA. I have always liked him, now I see him as weak man. I do enjoy your column and read it everyday. God bless our Country.....God bless Trump and God bless you.

    Thank you for all you & family do .Everything I thought would happen has happened plus more. Now the head of China thanks Biden for doing all he was told. This is payback for that money he took . Now he’s recruiting every person he has been assigned to put in Office . Harris will be Pres in 6 mos Biden will be out . She appears very strong headed . As nurse / mom of 4 raised alone / GM 9 & GGM 2 . I thought at 77 I’m home free NOT I just told my Grandaughter expert gun shooter she worked at gun range 5 yrs . To Get me a GUN and teach me how to protect myself . How are we going to survive this WAR that is imminent??

    Dear Gov Huckabee,
    There was fraud. The states, Arizona and Pennsylvania, documented it in letters to Pence. Yet, rather than accepting their request, he ignored it and went ahead and certified fraudulent electors.

    I do not condemn violence. And, I do not believe that Trump Supporters are solely responsible for the mayhem yesterday. There are reports that this was planned by Antifa and they are the ones who broke windows.

    Here's what you and others need to understand. We Trump Supporters are law abiding. We pay our taxes. We stop at stop signs. We say please and thank you. We do not hurt others. We vote at the ballot box! But, when we watch our liberties taken away so casually, and see that others who lie and cheat are able to get away with it - just so they can take more freedom and liberties away from us - we are left wondering what to do next.

    My father always told me, "Life isn't fair." Well....what has happened throughout this election is is BEYOND unfair. I feel sorry for President Trump. He was destroyed by this massive operation. And it is not fair to any of us.

    These One World Order folks, The Obamas, The Clinton's, The Biden's, The Zuckerberg's, The Communist Chinese and George Soros have killed people, have threatened people's lives and family member's lives, they have bribed Judges and Attorney Generals.....a court of law means nothing to them. They can't be stopped! Our own Supreme Court has been silenced by them. Our United States has been seized! Only God can help us now!??????

    While I condemn this violence I still recognize that it was brought on by utter frustration, an obvious fraudulent election followed by yet more fraud in Georgia Tuesday. You can't keep cheating people before they erupt. I fear our country is headed over a cliff.

    I am against violence, but you seem to be assuming the violence was started by Trump supporters when it was even briefly reported by CNN that antifa was taking responsibility for storming the capital. Please don't become part of the fake news crowd by announcing condemnation on Trump supporters before all the facts are known. The right has always backed down and now we have lost our nation to the morally corrupt who devise schemes and have no moral compass, just "win and rule no matter what!". You have lost my trust. I have watched all your shows, and was among the first to sign up for your newsletter. Praying you get some backbone.

    Schumer says “remove President Trump immediately. Omar (who the hell is Omar) wants to begin Impeachment of the President. Everyone is giving their two cents worth. The violence at the Capital was despicable, as was the violence this past year in the burning of cities. Let us STOP and pray for a healing of our land. We are the United States of America. ????
