BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
Mars Here We Come
By Mike Huckabee
Congratulations to all the scientists, engineers and others who helped accomplish yesterday’s milestone landing of the rover Perseverance on the surface of Mars.
The mission was timed for the closest alignment of Earth and Mars, but that still meant a trip of 300 million miles, or seven months of traveling – so far away that radio signals from Percy (the rover’s nickname) take nearly 12 minutes to reach Earth. It will spend the next two years drilling into the Martian surface to collect rock samples, which will be brought back by another rocket by 2031 to search for signs of bygone microscopic life. Let's hope that by that time, there are still signs of intelligent life on Earth.
Two other spacecraft, from the UAE and China, are also orbiting Mars. China also plans to send down a small rover to seek signs of life. And if it finds any, to immediately oppress it.
Texas Update
By Mike Huckabee
Amazingly, leftist politicians and commenters are trying to blame the power outages in Texas on Republican policies, even though they are mostly due to Texas adopting the kind of “green energy” push that the leftists want to impose nationwide (wind power turbines froze due to the unusually cold weather.) But their jaw-dropping lack of self-awareness doesn’t stop there. Some are arguing that Texas, indeed, all red states, need to be like California. Even President Biden recently said he wants to “make America California again,” the second-most bone-chilling thing he’s ever said, right behind claiming that Chinese brutality is just a “cultural norm.”
They’re overlooking the fact that Texas, having made a tragic error in listening to the wrong people, is now trying to investigate and correct it as quickly as possible. They also made a tough decision to have rolling power outages this week that might have prevented catastrophic grid failure and months of blackouts.
California, however, has suffered for years from widespread power outages caused by their attempts to mandate green energy use without reliable sources to provide it, as well as out of control wildfires, epidemic homelessness and other manmade catastrophes directly caused by their leftist leaders. All of these problems are only getting worse, but the voters just keep reelecting the same people. It’s as if their brains are suffering a power outage.
All those like Biden who think the California model is superior to the Texas model conveniently overlook the fact that Californians are fleeing to Texas in droves, just as residents of the liberal Northeast are fleeing to Florida and Georgia (unfortunately, many then vote for the same policies that forced them to flee – again, it’s the brain power outage.)
So to settle the issue, economist Daniel J. Mitchell of www.freedomandprosperity.org has been writing a series of articles comparing the policies of California and Texas and their results. Here’s his latest installment:
It’s enlightening, but not surprising. Not if you just go to Uhaul.com and compare the cost to rent a 15-foot moving van from L.A. to Dallas ($3,032), compared to renting one from Dallas to L.A. ($1,175.) They’ll subsidize that move just to get their trucks back to L.A. because hardly anyone is moving in that direction anymore.

California Democrats Suddenly Become Interested In Ballot Fraud
By Mike Huckabee
The petition to get a recall of California Gov. Gavin Newsom onto the ballot has reached the needed 1.4 million signatures, and organizers are pushing to get at least 300,000 extra before the March 17th deadline, to overcome any objections to signatures. But that might not be nearly enough.
Amazingly, once Newsom's own job was on the line, California election officials have suddenly become intensely concerned about signature matching to prevent ballot fraud. KCRA-TV surveyed 45 county registrars’ offices and they say that out of 1,020,165 signature submitted, only 560,365 are considered close enough matches to be valid. That’s a signature match rejection rate of about 45%.
The California signature match rejection rate in the 2020 Presidential election: 0.6%.
Reports are that Newsom’s strategy to avoid a recall is to impose such strict signature matching that hardly any signatures will be considered valid. Or as Democrats would call anything even a fraction as rigorous: “VOTER SUPPRESSION!” Former President Trump tweeted that this is the same way Democrats kept Kanye West off the ballot in his home state.
So attention, Californians: there are 39.5 million of you, and surely no more than a couple of million at most are doing better under Newsom than they would under just about anybody else. The other 37 million or so of you have until March 17th to sign the petition at https://rescuecalifornia.org/ And you might want to trace your signature from your drivers’ license.
Well, here’s some good news
By Mike Huckabee
after President Biden’s soft-pedaling of Chinese brutality at the CNN townhall as being different “cultural norms,” the White House and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi both felt it a good time to express their view that genocide is wrong and should be strongly and vocally opposed, even when China does it. I will take them at their word that this is indeed their sincere, longstanding belief and not, say, frantic damage control.
Speaking of that townhall, Biden made so many false claims that (brace yourself) even CNN felt forced to fact-check him, and you know they’d rather saw off their own right arms with a rusty blade than do that. But note how they twist themselves into pretzels to give him every benefit of the doubt about what he “really meant” if there were any possible positive interpretation. That’s a courtesy that I bet Trump wishes the media had extended to him even once in four years.
Read through these and imagine CNN’s reaction if Trump had said these things: “LYING LIAR WHO LIES!!!”
Jobless Claims On The Rise
By Mike Huckabee
Thursday, the Labor Department reported that new weekly jobless claims “unexpectedly” rose by 13,000 to 861,000. Our easily-surprised economists had expected unemployment claims to fall to 768,000. Maybe they haven’t been keeping up with the news that our President is using a series of executive orders to destroy just about every job in America in exchange for promises of government-financed new jobs building windmills sometime in the vague future.
