BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
The Real Problem
By Mike Huckabee
Under President Biden, the military isn’t just taking time out of military preparedness to push critical race theory and try to weed out soldiers for daring to hold conservative political views, it’s also using its media and social media accounts to attack those who criticize it, like a teenager having a flame war.
All they’re really doing by launching attacks on Tucker Carlson is proving his point that the current leadership are not serious and mature military leaders who should be in charge of America’s defenses in a time of rising threats from China and Iran.
Speaking of Tucker Carlson, he’s really been firing on all cylinders lately. Another excellent commentary centered on the cancelling of Dr. Seuss over some allegedly “insensitive” drawings in six of his books that were yanked off the market. Carlson made the excellent point that Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel was actually a typical midcentury liberal who filled his books with lessons for children about how bad racism is.
You’d think a man like that would be a hero to anyone who’s actually “anti-racist.” But today’s “anti-racists” are about as opposed to racism as Antifa is “anti-fascist.” It’s been said that if there were no such thing as racism, some people would have to invent it to keep making a living off of it, and with these people, you can see them inventing new forms of racism right before your eyes every day, under the guise of opposing it.
As Carlson noted, their real problem with Dr. Seuss isn’t that he was racist (he wasn't), but that he taught kids the form of real anti-racism preached by Dr. King: that surface differences like skin color (or the stars on the bellies of Sneetches) are irrelevant, that it’s what is inside us all that matters and that makes us alike in most ways. When you’re trying to tear down society by turning it into a bunch of warring tribes of oppressed and oppressors, telling kids that our shared humanity and the content of our characters is what counts, not our surface differences, is very bad for your business model.
Our own writer, Laura Ainsworth, put it brilliantly in her parody, “How The Left Stole Reading”:
“He taught children how to be loving and kind
And how they could grow up to be ‘color-blind’
‘Color-blind??!’ screamed the left, their eyes practically bleeding
We MUST find a way to keep children from reading!”
Biden fires Trump appointee
By Mike Huckabee
Friday, President Biden fired EEOC General Counsel Sharon Fast Gustafson after she refused to resign under pressure from the White House. Gustafson was a Trump appointee confirmed by the Senate in 2019 to what is supposed to be a four-year term at an “independent” government agency.
The White House gave no reason for wanting Gustafson gone, so it appears that they just didn’t want a Trump appointee who was known for protecting religious freedom rights. Critics called it alarming that someone tasked with preventing discrimination should be fired just for being appointed by the “wrong” party and defending First Amendment rights that the White House doesn’t care about.
Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx slammed Biden for the unwarranted and unprecedented firing “to make room for his leftwing friends” and demanded that Gustafson be “reinstated so she can complete her four-year term, independently and free from undue political influence.”
If Biden faced the type of media scrutiny that Trump did, something might come of that. If Trump had tried to fire an independent Obama appointee for no reason other than naked politics, there would have been a media nuclear firestorm. The Biden White House was counting on the lapdog media snoozing through this latest outrageous abuse of power. And so far, they appear to be correct.
The Navy's Reading List
By Mike Huckabee
Three House Republicans are questioning why the Navy has added three radical “critical race theory” books to its official reading list for members.
In their letter of complaint, they wrote, “All three books reinforce the view that America is a confederation of identity categories of the oppressed and their oppressors rather than a common homeland of individual citizens who are united by common purposes and fidelity to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and codified in the Constitution.”
When contacted by Fox News, a Navy spokesperson replied that “exposure to varied viewpoints improves the critical thinking skills of its sailors.”
Finally, something I can agree with “critical racial theory” wokesters about! So taking their own words, I propose that colleges and universities return to their original mission, which was to sharpen students’ critical thinking skills by exposing them to varied viewpoints, by ending their Soviet-style purge of conservative books and speakers, and reinstitute “diversity” of thought by hiring more conservative faculty members.
For the record: at Harvard, conservatives make up just over 1% of the faculty…
…and only 7% of incoming students identify as conservative, compared to 37% of the population in general…
…And a recent study found that the overwhelming liberal leanings in US universities are perverting academia, by breeding an attitude that it’s okay to discriminate against and silence conservatives, and an atmosphere of intimidation that’s making conservative faculty and students censor themselves out of fear of retribution.
So if the Biden Administration believes that we have to include anti-American racially-divisive books in the Navy reading list because it’s so imperative to expose people to varied viewpoints to improve their critical thinking skills, then how about whipping out that executive order pen and denying federal funds to universities that fail to protect free speech and discriminate against conservative academics and students?
Calls for Cuomo's resignation grow
By Mike Huckabee
Having a COVID-19 policy that killed thousands of nursing home residents and then trying to cover it up may not be a great move for a Democrat politician, but having (at latest count) seven sexual harassment allegations is the uninvited kiss of death. With priorities like those, many top Democrats have joined in the call for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign, which he is refusing to do.
The drumbeat for his departure is becoming so loud, even Cuomo’s own staffers aren't coming to work anymore.
Still, a deafening silence is coming from the White House, where we have a President who has faced multiple such accusations, including a very serious one that was buried by the media, and a Vice President who slammed him for it and claimed she was a champion of women before she agreed to be his running mate, and then all that was forgotten.
As of Sunday, the White House had yet to respond to queries about their opinion on Cuomo resigning (Nancy Pelosi also hasn’t called on him to step down), and when asked about it, all Biden would say was, "I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us."
Well, it’s nice to know that even as he is ripping to shreds immigration laws, the separation of powers, the Constitution and the First and Second Amendments, he’s at least bringing back due process rights…as long as the case involves Democrats accused of sexual abuse.
A ratings drop
By Mike Huckabee
It was to be expected that after the 2020 election (finally) ended, viewership for cable news channels would drop. But ratings for the first quarter starting in December are in, and shows that had grown dependent on bashing Trump to attract viewers are falling off the cliff like Wile E. Coyote.
The biggest losers of all were Don Lemon, Anderson Cooper and Chris Cuomo, whose ratings have plummeted by 28 to 32% (granted, Cuomo also has some non-Trump-related credibility problems.) The smallest drop was Tucker Carlson, down just 4.9%, but the way he’s been hitting out of the park lately (and obviously getting under the left’s skin), I expect his ratings to rise.
Meanwhile, with CNN on the verge of losing its captive airport audience, (the only thing worse about traveling than long security lines with personal body cavity searches), I wonder if they’ll actually start running stories encouraging Trump to run again in 2024.
The liberal cable news networks aren’t the only ones who may soon be joining all thinking Americans in missing President Trump. The late night “comedy” shows that took a vacation from political satire for eight years under Obama because there was just nothing about him that you could possibly poke fun at, then spent four years savaging Trump every night, are now back to their “nothing you can possibly ridicule” about Biden mode.
Well, I guess this just means my writers and I will have the market to ourselves once again!
This is some story
By Mike Huckabee
A Florida woman who was posing as a plastic surgeon was arrested for allegedly botching a man’s nose job, right in the middle of her performing another procedure on someone else.
I have the perfect alibi for her: she might not be a plastic surgeon, but she IDENTIFIES as one, and that makes her just as much of one as someone who actually went to medical school.
In fact, I think we should all demand that anyone who claims that a man who “identifies” as a woman IS a woman, and therefore should be allowed to compete in women’s sports, must have their next surgical procedure performed by someone who only “identifies” as a doctor. I’ll bet that would get them to cave to reality pretty darn quick.
A Reader Writes Back...
To see half the country fall under the hypnotic spell of this invented narrative is like being strapped into an automobile driven by once-normal family members who now are hell-bent on driving as fast as they can to the top of a volcano to get some great selfies when it erupts.
