BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
Attention Woke Corporations
By Mike Huckabee
I mentioned yesterday that Coca-Cola, realizing its anti-election integrity law virtue-signaling had poked the bear and ticked off millions of Coke drinkers, is suddenly making conciliatory noises about the importance of giving a respectful hearing to all sides of an issue (which would be nice for all corporations to have as a default position, rather than having to be forced into it.)
Or maybe they just saw the results of this new poll by the Daily Wire.
At least 64% of respondents said they are less likely to support big businesses that take public stands on political issues, and 70% agree with the statement, “Corporations and sports teams should generally stay out of politics.” New flash: we watch sports to ESCAPE politics. When asked about the individual provisions in the new Georgia election law, large majorities agreed with all of them. For instance, 78% support voter ID, and 76% believe campaign workers should leave voters alone while they’re waiting in line to vote (they must’ve dealt with them before.)
Among Major League Baseball fans, 54% agree with the provisions in the law that MLB moved the All-Star Game out of Atlanta to protest. Fifty-eight percent of all respondents, including a majority of non-white Americans (!) and nearly half of MLB fans, believe politicians and the media are exaggerating to make the Georgia law sound worse than it is. And in what should come as a four-alarm warning to the MLB, its already-negative ratings are climbing: 44% of respondents now have an overall negative view of the MLB after the decision to move the game; and of those who already viewed the MLB negatively, 79% now view it more negatively.
But it gets worse: another poll by Rasmussen that I previously mentioned not only found that 51% of Americans (including 30% of Democrats) think cheating affected the 2020 election, but large majorities of all racial groups reject the claim that voter ID discriminates against some voters. And brace yourselves, woke CEOs: 59% of whites, 56% of blacks, and 63% of other minority voters believe it’s more important to make sure there’s no cheating in elections than it is to make it easier to vote. In fact, 34% of voters think it’s already too easy to vote!
(FYI: the least surprising finding was that strong Biden supporters are the group least likely to say preventing cheating in elections is a higher priority than making it easier to cast ballots.)
All this begs the question: why are these corporations, whose boards and CEOs are paid outlandish bucks to maximize stockholder returns, alienating millions of customers to placate a tiny minority of leftists who insist that their radical views are the only acceptable ones and if you disagree, you’re a sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic Nazi? Would you buy a soda from someone who told you that? I'd be afraid to drink it if they gave it to me for free.
If we allow these corporate elites to impose vetoes over laws passed by the people’s elected representatives, then we’ll no longer be living in the United States of America but in the State of Serfdom. Here’s a warning about where it could lead, and why the claim that they’re private companies so they can do whatever they want is high-sounding hooey.
Let’s hope these polls and boycott calls are sending a message that Americans will not tolerate rule by arrogant oligarchs. This is still a free market system, and we can and will take our dollars elsewhere. More alternatives are popping up every day, as smarter business people see the giants’ blunders and rush to take advantage of them.
And if you happen to be a stockholder in one of these companies whose leaders put flaunting their liberal politics above padding your retirement account, you can go to a stockholders meeting (with Coke, you’ll have to show a photo ID to get in), stand up and tell them off, then vote to replace them. Let them take their golden parachutes and land in Portland or Minneapolis, if they love competent, peaceful leftist rule so much.
FYI: there are a number of services that will allow you to set up a trading account for free and buy a share of stock in any company. Here’s one that one of my writers uses, just as an example if you’re interested.
Twitter permanently suspends James O'Keefe's account
By Mike Huckabee
By one of those stunning coincidences that just keep happening on the unbiased social media site Twitter, right after James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas released a series of bombshell undercover videos showing a CNN employee admitting that they’re a Democrat propaganda organ, Twitter permanently suspended O’Keefe’s accounts for, like, totally unrelated reasons.
Twitter claimed that O’Keefe’s suspension had nothing to do with him exposing CNN. No, they accused him of operating multiple accounts. A spokesperson told Fox News, “You can’t mislead others on Twitter by operating fake accounts” and “you can’t artificially amplify or disrupt conversations through the use of multiple accounts."
Conservatives, including Donald Trump Jr., aren’t buying that. They say this is another example of Twitter running interference for the Democrats by silencing someone whose reporting made them look bad.
For his part, O’Keefe categorically denied the accusation and issued this statement by text:
“I’m suing Twitter for defamation because they said I, James O’Keefe, ‘operated fake accounts.’ This is false, this is defamatory, and they will pay. Section 230 may have protected them before, but it will not protect them from me. The complaint will be filed Monday.”
More power to him. Since Democrats took power, social media sites have become brazen in their disregard for the Section 230 requirement that they act as impartial platforms or lose their protection from lawsuits. They assume that the Democrats will never enforce the law as long as the violations benefit them. But I’ve been urging victims to file lawsuits and put the issue before judges. O’Keefe has a track record of winning in court against powerful media organizations. If it’s true that Twitter shut down his accounts over a false accusation, I hope he ends up owning the company.
In fact, I hope he ends up owning Twitter no matter what. Having someone in charge who believes in unfettered free speech and freedom of the press could only be a vast improvement.
I Love The Smell Of Liberal Panic In The Morning
By Mike Huckabee
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that while she won’t rule out expanding the Supreme Court in the future, and “doesn’t know if that’s a good idea or bad idea” (Earth to Pelosi: it’s a HORRENDOUS idea), she has “no plans” to bring the radical Democrats’ bill to add four Justices to the SCOTUS to the House floor for a vote.
Other Democrat leaders are also shunning that bill like it’s a cow pie on the paté platter.
Something tells me they’ve seen some polling and discovered that this bill is exactly what one Republican described it as: the biggest fundraising gift the Democrats ever gave to Republicans working to win back their majorities in Congress.
A Majority believe there was cheating at the ballot box
By Mike Huckabee
Despite all the attempts to silence, shame and censor anyone who questions the results of the 2020 election, a new Rasmussen survey finds that a majority of voters – 51% - believe it’s likely that the election was affected by cheating, with 35% believing it’s “very likely.”
That number includes 74% of Republicans, 51% of unaffiliated voters, and even 30% of Democrats! So apparently, telling people, “Shut up! There’s nothing to see!” while fighting all efforts to audit the ballots or secure future votes is not filling Americans with confidence in the integrity of our elections. If only someone had called on Biden, right after the election, to demand an open and bipartisan investigation to assure Americans that the election was legitimate, as he and the media insist, so these suspicions wouldn’t be hanging over him!
Oh, that’s right: I did that, and got attacked for it. I still can’t figure out why. If you have nothing to hide, why act like you do and keep the suspicions alive?
Polls contradict Biden's claim
By Mike Huckabee
President Biden claimed that polls show Americans approve of his policies. A couple of new polls contradict that claim.
A new Pew Research Center survey found that an equal number of Americans (47%) now think that illegal immigration and the coronavirus are major issues. That’s a drop since last year of 11 points in concern about the coronavirus and a jump of 20 points in concern about illegal immigration.
Even the left-leaning Quinnipiac Poll found that on Biden’s handling of the border, only 29% approve and 55% disapprove. Even more stunning, among Hispanics, whom he apparently thinks he’s pandering to with these policies, 27% approve and 55% disapprove.
I’ve never understood why Democrats assume that people who followed the rules to become US citizens are automatically supportive of people who break the rules.
Then again, I don’t understand why Biden’s disapproval rating on this particular issue isn’t 100%. Maybe some people just aren’t paying attention. This is like approving of the job the Three Stooges did on your plumbing.
A Reader Writes Back...
It is frustrating trying to find the truth in the press. God bless you Mike and family. Now is the time for all of us to participate in the political process. I am tempted to put up signs on the front lawn but do not want my house burned down. In Phoenix, the police have been under funded for more than 20 years. We are often compared to Philadelphia. We are twice size in land area and have more population. Our police department has half the budget.
