1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
Isaiah 6:8 KJV
2. Facing Disaster in the Midterms, Democrats begin to admit the truth:
The government is finally starting to admit the truth about things that got conservatives banned from social media as conspiracy theorists for saying a year ago. The latest example: CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky admitted that about 75% of deaths attributed to COVID happened to people who had at least four comorbidities, “so really, these are people who were unwell to begin with.”
https://www.westernjournal.com/midterm-doom-looms-dems-cdc-director-makes-shocking-admission/
This is part of the reason why I personally decided to get vaccinated: I’m particularly susceptible to respiratory diseases like COVID. So this is hardly big news. We’ve known for a long time that COVID has a very high survival rate for those who aren’t over 65 with other underlying problems such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. It’s why many people questioned the wisdom of shutting down all of society instead of just sequestering those who were most at risk.
So why are we all-of-a-sudden having health “authorities” admit the truth of things that were blasted as heresy not so long ago? The article at the link argues that it’s because the Democrats know they’re facing disaster in the midterm elections, and voters blame them for inflicting so much damage in the name of stopping the virus when it obviously isn't working. So now they’re trying to back away from it as quickly as possible.
Nice try, but I doubt that anyone will forget the lockdowns, school closures and other ironfisted measures by November, any more than they’ll forget how useless they were. Personally, I think that the most damaging admission of all is the tacit admission that the statements and decisions of health officials are influenced in any way by politics.
3. Inflation Update:
How badly is President Biden doing at handling inflation? So badly that even the Washington Post editorial board panned him for it, which is kind of like being bitten by your own dog.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/washington-pans-biden-message-on-inflation
While they did criticize Biden for trying to pin shortages and rising prices on industries gouging customers, they still seem to think, as liberals always do, that this is primarily a “messaging” problem. If only he could find the magic words to explain the problem more clearly, then everything would be fine.
It might help his approval rating, but that’s not America’s problem, that’s his problem. Our problem is that people can’t get the goods they need or afford them if they could find them. And that’s not solved by words, it’s solved by putting people to work to SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
For all of Biden’s constant bad-mouthing of his predecessor, if Trump were President now, and people were suffering because goods weren’t being unloaded and delivered to stores, or gas prices were skyrocketing due to tight supplies, do you seriously think he would’ve sat around for a solid year doing basically nothing?
Would Trump have appointed an inexperienced, unqualified Transportation Secretary who took off for two months of parental leave in the middle of a supply chain crisis? Or would he have reversed Biden’s anti-energy policies, called in the best people from private industry, and launched a massive campaign to get more trucks and truckers on the road and goods moving again?
Memo to WaPo: we know that liberals are good at running their mouths. We don’t need pretty words to help us understand that we’re up the creek, we need some evidence that they’re capable of grabbing a paddle and actually doing something to help.
4. More Bad Polling News for Democrats:
A new A.P./NORC poll asked Americans to name their top five concerns that they want the government to address. The #1 concern, mentioned by 68% of respondents, was the economy. Another 24% mentioned household finances/the cost of living, up from 12% last year. Inflation as a concern leapt from less than 1% last year to 14%.
https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2022/01/11/apnorc-poll-economycovid-n2601682
And concern about the only issue where the Democrats had a strong advantage, handling the pandemic, dropped from 53% to 37%. Although the way they’ve been handling it since they’ve actually been in charge of it, you’d think they would want Americans to stop paying attention to that issue.
5. Must-Read:
Megan Fox of PJ Media details the many eerie similarities between insane religious cults and hysterical COVID fear fanatics who insist that everyone live the way they say and cut people out of their lives who don’t buy into it. She calls them the “Branch Covidians.”
If you think this is overstated, read her article. And note the actual photo of their savior, Dr. Fauci’s, face appearing in a donut.
6. Bad day for Biden, great day for Herschel Walker!
This morning’s commentary on Biden’s scheduled “voting rights” speech in Georgia today ended with a reference to Lucy pulling away the football. So it seems fitting that an update to the story has a football theme.
The atmosphere in Georgia turned even more unwelcoming for Biden after Monday night’s 33-18 win by the Georgia Bulldogs over Alabama in the College Football Playoff. That’s because Herschel Walker, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from Georgia, is leading the celebration. Walker was star running back on the last Georgia team to win the national championship –- 41 years ago. Congratulations, DAWGS!
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/herschel-walker-georgia-bulldogs-national-title
Needless to say, Georgians are pumped over this tremendous win. The focus today was not on Biden –- whose presence to lecture us about the need to blow up the filibuster to pass what we affectionately call the “Legalize Election Fraud Act” was apparently so toxic that even Stacey Abrams didn’t show up –- but on the former Georgia running back, Dallas Cowboy star player, and now Republican candidate for Senate.
Pundits are wondering who Biden’s speech was even for. Leftist voting rights groups are so frustrated and (of course) furious with what they perceive as “inaction” on Biden's part that even THEY tuned it out.
https://news.yahoo.com/black-hispanic-voting-rights-groups-210112157.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall
But conservatives will be busy high-fiving over last night’s game and talking up Herschel Walker. Winning!
Biden is advocating for what he calls a filibuster “carve-out” specifically for their election “reform” (ha) bill. Yes, they are that desperate to get it passed. But this is just a trick that will, in practice, end the filibuster. There is no such thing as a “narrow exception” to the filibuster rule. If you’d like an in-depth analysis of why it won’t work, National Review has a premium article by Charles C. W. Cook that explains it well. And we’ll cover it more in detail later.
