Something to consider
In my interview with Dr. Todd Rose about his terrific new book “Collective Illusions,” one of the false narratives he mentioned was people being okay with “woke” corporations forcing their politics onto us. In fact, surveys show that the vast majority of Americans of all demographic groups want businesses to just do their business and stay out of politics.
You’d think that as many viewers as ESPN has lost by injecting woke leftism into sports coverage, they’d have figured that out by now. But on Friday, they pushed the envelope even more by interrupting the NCAA women’s basketball tournament with a “moment of silence” in protest of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill (that’s a false and inaccurate name invented by LGBTQ activists that has nothing to do with the content of the bill, which merely bars any graphic sex or gender lessons for children ages 7 and under.)
ESPN’s commentators piously lectured viewers, “There are things bigger than basketball. Our LGBTQIA+ at Disney asked for our solidarity and support.”
And there we have the real reason why ESPN has gone off the rails: they’re owned by Disney, which seems intent on flushing its reputation for wholesome family entertainment down the toilet by siding with people who want to indoctrinate small children with inappropriate sexual content without their parents’ consent.
In fact, Disney has become so radical on this issue that they restored a lesbian kiss scene that had been edited from their upcoming animated kids’ movie “Lightyear,” based on the “Toy Story” character of Buzz Lightyear, just to retaliate for Florida's move to protect small children from…well, what Disney is apparently intent on doing: showing them inappropriate sexual content.
Never considered in any of this is why there should be any kissing scenes of any sexual orientation in a cartoon aimed at children. I grew up in a time when children’s entertainment meant cowboy movies where the hero only kissed his horse, and that wasn’t designed to indoctrinate kids into thinking bestiality is okay.
I keep wondering whether Disney’s shareholders agree with its executives that pushing a radical LGBTQIA++XYZ++QWERTY agenda is more important than selling movie tickets, since I suspect this news story is going to make a lot of people cross that movie off their To-See lists.
As for ESPN, considering some of the leftist drivel that’s been coming from their “sports” commentators lately, a few more moments of silence might be a welcome relief.
Equal Opportunity Denouncer
Liberals hoping that former Attorney General Bill Barr’s book tour would be a non-stop Trump-bashing fest must be keenly disappointed as Barr has proven to be an equal opportunity denouncer. First, he criticized Trump’s handling of the 2020 election, but also said that if Trump were the 2024 nominee, he’d have no choice but to vote for him because the “progressive” leftists are so horrendously bad for America.
Now, he’s done it again. Asked about Hunter Biden’s toxic laptop (which the New York Times just miraculously “verified” as true, a year-and-a-half too late), Barr said he refused Trump’s efforts to get him to talk about it before the election due to “possible ongoing investigations.” He said he was against injecting a criminal investigation against Biden’s son into the race without “definitive judgement” from the DOJ.
But just as Democrats were preparing to flip-flop yet again and cite Barr as a statesman rather than a villain, he added that he was “very disturbed” by how Biden “lied to the American people.” He said Biden suggested it was Russian disinformation and pointed to that “baseless” letter from some intelligence people “which he knew was a lie, and I was shocked by that.”
All well and good, but also a day late and a dollar short. If he knew Biden was lying (and I’m frankly shocked that he would be shocked by Joe Biden lying) about something that the voters needed to know to make an informed decision, then keeping quiet wasn’t his patriotic duty. Speaking up was.
It wouldn’t have required verifying a DOJ investigation simply to say that there was no evidence that it was Russian disinformation. That’s a simple fact that some of us knew before the election. All of us should have known it.
Federal Judge blocks DC Law
A federal judge temporarily blocked the District of Columbia from carrying out a law passed by the city council in 2020 that allows children as young as 11 to be vaccinated without parental consent.
The law allows children whose parents have religious objections to vaccines to receive vaccinations anyway, healthcare providers to be paid directly by insurers without the parents knowing, and doctors to leave the child's vaccine records blank and send them directly to the school without parents being notified. The judge ruled that it violates religious liberties by withholding information from religious parents that’s available to secular parents.
It’s also yet another example of the double standard when it comes to health decisions about children. If a school nurse gives a student a Tylenol without parental consent, it’s lawsuit time. But a vaccination or even an abortion, that they don’t have to tell parents about. On what planet does that make any sense?
Being Honest
You know what they say about the best jokes: “It’s funny because it’s true.” And the Babylon Bee has made such an art form of weaving the truth about leftists into hilarious satire that they’ve become the target of liberals who keep trying to “fact-check” their jokes. But now, the left has taken their rage over the Bee to a new level: the site has been banned by Twitter for alleged “hateful conduct” over a humorous piece that simply told the truth: HHS assistant secretary and USA Today “Woman of the Year” honoree Rachel Levine is a biological man.
I don’t see how simply being honest can be called “hateful” or “promoting violence,” particularly since the story was about the Bee honoring Levine as “Man of the Year.” Either way, Bee editor Seth Dillon responded, “We’re not deleting anything. Truth is not hate speech. If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it. Never censor yourself. Insist that 2 and 2 make 4 even if Twitter tries to compel you to say otherwise. Make them ban tens of millions of us.”
I’m happy to see more and more people taking that attitude and standing up to the social media bullies and censors. With rising numbers of competitors and Twitter and Facebook making themselves irrelevant through their efforts to ideologically “cleanse” their user base, it can only hasten their journey to becoming the MySpace of the 2020s.
Fellow satirist David Burge (“Iowahawk”) had a great observation on this story, which he ironically posted on Twitter: “Ever notice that you’re more likely to be banned by Twitter for expressing an opinion held by 90% of the public than one held by 10% of the public?”
Add Kickstarter to this list
It looks as if we can add Kickstarter to the list of financial/fundraising sites that are trying to impose a leftist agenda on users.
Chris Queen of PJ Media reports that a Christian company had a Kickstarter campaign to produce a “Talking Jesus” doll. The doll is meant to teach young children the words of Christ in a way they can relate to. But Kickstarter demanded that the makers remove an “offending paragraph” from the product description. Here’s the paragraph:
“And in the last few years we watched once-wholesome toys and television shows devolve into woke propaganda campaigns. It’s true. Lego’s became LGBT, Mr. Potato Head went non-binary; Barbie became Bar-bi. Big Toy embraced the religion of wokeness which is designed to separate children from their families and their Creator.”
I guess that might be offensive to people who are offended by the truth, but I can’t find a word in it that’s incorrect. Neither could the doll makers, who refused to remove it. They even provided links to back up every claim and more.

Still, Kickstarter rescinded their campaign and refunded the donations, which had reached 71% of the goal.
The doll company’s founder, David Mauro, said, “We did not cave and will not. Our Talking Jesus Doll says ‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life’ (John 14:6). Jesus is Truth. Period. To deny the Truth is to deny Jesus. No amount of money is worth that.” He added, “Remember that they tried to cancel Jesus once before…and we know how that turned out.”
For the record, the cancel attempt hurt the company but didn’t kill them: they’re taking orders directly on their own website at https://talkingjesusdoll.com. And we now have another example of a woke website to avoid and another reason for some enterprising entrepreneur to step up and offer fundraising services that don’t discriminate against Christians and conservatives.
