What can be done about Big Tech?

By Mike Huckabee

With Big Tech companies such as Google, Apple and Amazon acting in concert to crush Parler and silence conservative political speech, the big question is, what to do about it? Rep. Devin Nunes has called for a RICO investigation, but with the DOJ under the control of the Democrats, who benefit from the collusion (ironically!), that’s not likely to happen. Conservatives tried going to other platforms, but the Silicon Valley leftists control so much of the digital infrastructure that they can cut off any competitors’ web hosting, email service, even digital payment systems.

A bill was just introduced to scale back Section 230 protections when social media companies violate free speech rights, but I have little hope of it passing under the Democrats.

This article in the New York Post calls for federal intervention, but admits that won’t happen until at least 2024, when Republicans could take back the White House and Congress. But will they be able to when their free speech and online presence have been purged for four years?

So what can be done right now? Well, there are two things, and they’re already happening. On Monday, Parler turned to the courts, where there are now a number of Trump-appointed judges who actually care about the Constitution. Parler filed a massive lawsuit against Amazon for antitrust violations, breach of contract and unlawful business interference, and demanded that their web hosting service be reinstated. Parler says their contract with Amazon requires 30 days’ notice of termination, and they got less than one day. In fact, they found out about it from the leftwing website Buzzfeed, which apparently was told an hour before Parler was informed (now we finally have an answer to the question, “Which travels faster: an email or a virtue signal?”)

Since Parler CEO John Matze says he’s getting death threats and is afraid even to go home, and I assume those were ginned up on Twitter, then under the same standard applied to Parler, Twitter is responsible for the people fomenting death threats and should be shut down.

Let’s hope this is only the first of many, many major lawsuits against the Big Tech companies. In the meantime, there is also another way to fight back, and it’s already starting. The tech giants think that they can “disappear” 75 million Americans who voted for Trump. But 75 million angry Americans can respond by refusing to do business with them. They can turn off Facebook and Twitter and actually talk to their real friends, or read a book, go outside, spend time with their families, or do something really productive, like restarting the Tea Party movement. They can shop in person at locally-owned stores instead of on Amazon.

This whole “We don’t need no stinkin’ deplorables as customers!” attitude proved its foolishness to the companies’ shareholders on Monday when Twitter’s stock value plummeted by $5 billion in one day, losing 12% of its value (that’s its stock value; I’m not sure what other value Twitter has.)

Also on Monday, other tech stocks took a beating, with Amazon losing 2.15% of its value, Google and Apple losing over 2.3%, and Facebook dropping by over 4%.

That article assumes that this is just temporary, and they’ll bounce back. Or it could be only the beginning. Show of hands: how many of you who have left Twitter plan to go back? How many plan to give money to any of these companies as long as they’re colluding to deprive you of your Constitutional rights? Wow, not seeing any hands out there.

Ultimately, the greatest power is the power of the purse. The leftist billionaires who control these tech companies are dependent on us giving them our time and money. Yet they are so arrogant and filled with hubris that they think it’s we who are dependent on them. For instance, they actually believe that if they deplatform the #WalkAway movement, it will prevent people from walking away from the left. They’re right: people are now running away.

As far as Facebook and Twitter thinking that they're here to stay and we’re permanently dependent on them: How much time have you spent on MySpace lately?

The World is Watching

By Mike Huckabee

Leftists keep telling us that President Trump is an embarrassment to America in the eyes of other nations. Personally, I find it embarrassing that the leaders of other nations around the world, even leftwing leaders, are watching American Big Tech CEOs’ outrageous censorship of Trump and his supporters and condemning the US for its failure to protect the right to free speech.

My favorite quote, from Russian opposition leader Alexy Navalny, who calls the social media purge an unacceptable form of censorship: “Don’t tell me (Trump) was banned for violating Twitter rules. I get death threats here every day for many years, and Twitter doesn’t ban anyone.”

Also worth considering: maybe you’ve gone too far when Germany is telling you you’re acting like fascists

.

Biden's pick

By Mike Huckabee

It’s been reported that when she was president of Harvard’s Black Students Union, Joe Biden’s pick to run the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice invited a noted anti-Semite to speak and wrote a letter to the campus newspaper, arguing that blacks have greater mental, physical and spiritual abilities than whites because they have more melanin in their skin.

Ladies and gentlemen, the “party of science!”

Banned by Facebook

By Mike Huckabee

Facebook has permanently banned a clothing retailer called Patriotic Me for alleged violations of terms of service, but the company can’t get anyone from Facebook to explain what they did wrong.

The business was started by a wife and mother who sells non-partisan clothes with patriotic themes, such as the American flag. A portion of every sale goes to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, a charity to help injured veterans and first responders (I’ve had the founder of that group on “Huckabee” as a Huck’s Hero: https://youtu.be/rryvCv3CYJc).

Sales are down by 94% because Facebook has cut off their traffic, and the owner can’t get through to any live human to explain why so that they can correct it. Let’s hope the increased exposure forces Facebook to respond and relent. In the meantime, here’s the shop’s website, which at least is still allowed to be online.

Pelosi blames "whiteness"

By Mike Huckabee

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blamed last week’s violent protest inside the Capitol on “whiteness” and people placing "whiteness over democracy."

I think she has a point. All the power in Washington is concentrated in one racist organization whose leaders are two wealthy white men, ages 70 and 78, and a very wealthy white woman who’s 80. They all refuse to relinquish their power to younger, more diverse challengers. In the name of eradicating the corrosive power of whiteness, I call on them to resign immediately.

Well, maybe not the 78-year-old white guy. He’ll probably be replaced by a younger woman of color pretty soon anyway.

Unbelievable what is allowed to happen in our freedom of speech per these multi billionaires and it was us the people who made them. Now they act like they are dictators or Hitler and silence what they do not believe. Amazed that Gates , Buffet, and a few other billionaires have not spoken out about how this is wrong for this country. On top of this we get Miss Botox face, Pelosi and WHITENESS being used anything to control a group of people for their use? I do believe in Karma and this will backfire not well . Thankful that Franklin Graham has spoken out on the Impeach of the President and those who turn against him for not any proof he was the one to ignite these idiots in DC to the capitol. More ministers and Priests needed to speak out for the President who was fighting for the working people too many sat silent now we have one of the worst Senators for Georgia a hateful supposed Reverand see how he speaks out from the pulpit against so many and this was a fair election. $500 million was poured into Georgia from outside WHY to control what and crush this President. These billionaires made big money off of China and low wages. We lost good jobs for years to there and they now have control over us HOW? Totally believe in Karma and this is not the ending until the FAT lady sings.

Mike, thank you for being a true American Patriot and man of faith.

I can’t help but wonder if Twitter, Google, Amazon and Facebook are trying to silence all of Trump follows. Silencing Trump they had to know that many Trump followers would fight back by silencing them!!! I will use Duck Duck Go, and stop ordering from Amazon, and am now a MeWe fan.
I am 68 year old female living on Social Security and believe others will turn their back on BigTech!

Thank you for staying true to our great Country.

It's been a long time since the way we as Americans feel has been so perfectly encapsulated. Thank you, Mr. Huckabee! It's absolutely appalling what the radical left has done to our nation. But the worst part is not the damage they've caused; it's the division they've created among the very people who claim to love this land. Shame on ALL OF THEM. Jesus, come quickly.

I'm going to hold my powder on this until I see the first few days of the New Socialist Agenda.
What goes around, Comes around. Many have no alternative to online shopping because most of middle America has been Gutted of enterprise by the actions of the last 4 administrations. I know the RINOS who joined the Socialist will be on my 'HIT' list for Zero Contributions.

Very upset about the “turn-on-Trump” move by spineless Republicans. Cheney needs to go....Crenshaw needs to go......McConnell needs to go as do 9 other GOP members of the House. Trump 2024!!! Bring it on.

    Governor Huckabee,
I've read your comments to Just The News.
As I read your thoughts I wondered why you think our President should just let all the injustice go?
If someone hacked into your bank accounts and stole your entire savings. Wouldn't you want justice?
Why are you asking our President to just let this stand?
This election was stolen not only from him but from the American people. He is fighting for us!
The only President I've known to do so.
Why should he just give up? To please the evil establishment?
My husband and I have been staunch supporters of your endeavors.
We get your news letters and watch your show every week on TBN.
Sadly like MANY other things we are giving up, doing business with and giving our hard earned money to, you will join those we no longer support.

Has Nancy Pelosi or Liz Cheney thought anything about how their impeaching a President who
only has 7 days left might incite violence at its worst? Impeaching a President who is already down because of the election fraud? Do they have to completely destroy him? Don't you think this could incite violence all over the country?

Do you have a timeline of what went on the capital building ? Was the Capital building invaded before Trump started his speech ? If the FBI had information about groups coming to show harm who was responsible for protecting the Capital and why didn’t they do more ?

I think gab.ai is a good alternative for Parker and is not controlled by Apple platforms. I would appreciate if you and your team could investigate and report on this to your readership. My understanding they support free speech, have their own servers and have a video platform like tube but I'm no techie.

Excellent newsletter. I'm totally besides myself as to see all the companies that are "blacklisting" our President & supporters, not counting what the democrats are saying, it's ugly. In all honesty, I pray that he leaves office & never looks back. I personally don't want him to run for office again. I say that whole heartedly for the safety for him & his family. I'm sure his followers will be around for sometime & when the time comes will support Republicans in all future elections. The country can't go through this again. I pray the Democrats will destroy themselves with their socialistist agendas. We see this starting out now. What did they do during the rioting/looting in the summer of 2019? What did Maxime Waters go out & preach to get in their faces, where ever, when ever, but's that acceptable. I pray everyday for our country to remove the evil. Amen & God Bless America!

I guess Twitter now wants to be an extension of State Department. In breath-taking hypocrisy, Twitter sent a message to all Ugandans that free speech and expression of ideas is necessary to ensure fair and respected elections as that country goes to polls. What??? Lecturing to world about our first amendment while doing opposite in home country.

This whole thing is surreal! I can’t believe the people who have turned a blind eye to all the treasonous actions, from Nancy tearing up the Presidents speech to all the voter fraud we ALL witnessed not to mention all the people who came forward. It reminds me of “Girls Gone Wild” but it’s “Dems and Republicans Gone Crazy”!

Mr Huckabee, thank you for being one of the few true Republicans left. There are some who I will never trust or respect again. Keep informing us of what is taking place in and around the swamp predators. They have tried to destroy President Trump from the beginning. You all who are still standing tall have my prayers, love and respect.

This nation is in for a very long and difficult time with most of our freedoms soon being eliminated by the Dems. They are pure evil, immoral and only out for themselves. They have no dedication to the needs of this country putting all their energy and tax payer dollars into the desecration and total annihilation of one man; a man who has done more for this country in 4 yrs than any of them ever thought possible or wanted to take place. They are scared of this man because he speaks the truth and has only the good of our country as his priority - something they desperately lack!

    Dear Mr. Huckabee:
I just wanted to make you aware of a release from the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Please read and provide guidance. Kind Regards, Elaine Anthony

    "January 11, 2021
    Florida Conference Cabinet

The scenes that unfolded in our nation’s capital on Wednesday are troubling on many levels. Images that we never could have imagined happening were on news and media outlets as they documented the chaos and violence wrought by the crowds that gathered. These images captured for us all a clear picture of a broken and disunified nation and the sin of white privilege, as well as the horrific results of disinformation and conspiracy theories promulgated by the president and many others, publicly and through social media. We want to say this is not America, yet what we have witnessed in recent years, and most particularly in these last weeks, compels us to acknowledge that, in fact, this is America.

Jesus said, “God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called children of God,” (Matthew 5:9). Peacemaking begins with individual and corporate confession and asking hard questions with the goal of transformation. Let us examine and compare the events of the spring and summer, in the way people of color protesting peacefully were treated, as opposed to the treatment of white rioters who assaulted the Capitol, the center of our nation’s government. White privilege and white supremacy, undergirded by conspiracy theories, erode the fiber of the true good in our country and in the world. This is not the America that we want to be or the foundational value that we believe America can be.

In response, as the Cabinet of The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church, we acknowledge that this is a watershed moment for us all—as disciples of Jesus Christ and as citizens of the United States of America. We have learned from history that people of faith do not always speak out quickly when there is evidence of wrongdoing and abuse of national power. Therefore, in this instance, we wish to point toward what we are doing and will continue to do to live more faithfully and seek a more just world:

Intentionally engage white clergy and laity in acknowledging the reality that “whiteness” is a cultural reality in America’s foundation and has been an oppressive force in our history and culture for over 400 years.
Recognize and acknowledge the reality of white supremacy and white privilege as a part of our American history and culture and of our United Methodist Church history and culture.
Invite white people to acknowledge all the ways we are complicit with white supremacy, that we exalt our white privilege, and by default perpetuate harm to people of color.
Acknowledge the need for white people to repent of our misuse of our power and privileges and begin the work of dismantling racism and building a just and equitable kingdom of God.
Walk alongside minority communities to understand more deeply their pain and the injustices present in our society and in our institutions.
Pray for our leaders and for those charged with our safety and protection, especially during this time of transition.
Pray for the incoming administration, including the preparation for the Inauguration on January 20.
Pray for us to have the will and the courage to work together to dismantle systemic racism present in our churches and in our communities.
Pray for peace, hope, and love among the people in our land.
One of the phrases that Bishop Carter has repeated over and over, both in written and in spoken word, that rings true in our ears is this: “Antiracism is discipleship. Antiracism is sanctification. Antiracism and our baptismal promises.”

“Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” Romans 14:19

    Grace and Peace,

    Florida Conference Appointive Cabinet"

    Gov.,
Sir, nothing can and will be done about Big Tech. They are doing exactly what the Marxist-Democrats want, that is shutdown Freedom of Speech. The best thing that can happen is for everyone to put their money is businesses that actually believe in the U.S. Constitution - in a word: BOYCOTT.

Biden and Pelosi IDENTIFY as African!! Mentally, they are no longer white. If you need proof, just look at the things they do. Of course, they could be just spreading HATE and DISCONTENT as does Antifa and BLM.
