It’s great to see so many readers engaging with us, commenting --- both pro and con --- on our voice of reason at this time of mass hysteria. We’re trying to get through all the letters, promise! Here are responses to two more...

From Gary:

I just have three quick questions:

1.) Since Senator Patrick Leahy is presiding over the 'impeachment' trial, does he have a vote on conviction? The Chief Justice does not have a vote, so why should Leahy, since he is assuming that capacity.

2.) What gives Senator Leahy the authority to preside anyway? I cannot anywhere in the Constitution that says this it is permissible for a Senator to preside over an impeachment trial.

3.) The impeachment articles were delivered AFTER Trump had left office, and was a private citizen, What gives the Senate the authority to try ANY private citizen?

(asking for a friend)

From the Gov:

The short answer: none of this is constitutional. They are making it up as they go along.

Having Sen. Leahy presiding over an impeachment trial is entering uncharted territory, since the Constitution says “the Chief Justice SHALL preside...” Chief Justice John Roberts has wisely chosen not to accept this dubious honor and will play no part in the "trial," so Sen. Leahy has graciously taken it upon himself. I assume he will decide for himself whether or not his vote counts. My guess is that it WILL. This whole circus is already so unconstitutional that, hey, why the heck not?

So, with President Trump already out of office and the Chief Justice not presiding, is what we have even a real impeachment trial? I’m not a legal scholar by any means, but I certainly have a lot of company in saying it is not. What we have here is a big fat banana-republic-style show trial. Your friend is correct in saying the Senate does not have authority to try a private citizen.

Accordingly, Trump’s attorneys are arguing that this entire process is unconstitutional, not only for the reasons mentioned above but also because the House impeachment was conducted without any due process. They also say that Trump is innocent of the charges he was impeached for, having never incited violence, and that they can present evidence that the Capitol breach was planned well in advance of his speech.

Democrats want to "convict" Trump because they think it will prevent him from holding office again, ever. They said he didn’t deserve to in their legal brief filed February 2. (The "trial" is scheduled for next week, starting February 8.) But legal experts point out that they don’t have this power other than with appointed offices, not elected ones. And to do this, even if it were constitutional, they’d have to reach a 2/3 vote on conviction, which they are not going to get.

Will this common-sense argument stop the Democrats? Of course not. But Sen. Lindsay Graham has said that if they call even one witness, Republicans will call a slew of their own, tying up the Senate for weeks at least. Maybe they'll even call the guy in the Viking helmet, if only to establish that he was there at the Capitol long before Trump gave his speech and didn’t even hear it.

Personally, I’d like to see the Republicans call John Sullivan, the left-wing activist who participated, was arrested and charged but then violated terms of bail. What was he really doing there?

I’d like to know how many other left-wing activists were involved in the Capitol breach. Again, we know the so-called insurrection was planned quite a while in advance and had nothing to do with what Trump said.

On the other hand, Trump’s attorneys say they won’t be bringing in the issue of election fraud. It apparently is not true that Trump parted ways with his previous team over that issue. New attorney Bruce Castor said, “There are plenty of questions about how the election was conducted throughout the country, but that’s for a different forum, and I don’t believe that’s important to litigate in the Senate trial because you don’t need it. President Trump has plenty to win with what he has.” Here’s more from THE EPOCH TIMES.

Jonathan Turley warned that even the House impeachment –- not even counting the Senate trial –- was doing great damage to the Constitution.

Turley said, “With seeking his removal for incitement, Democrats would gut not only the impeachment standard but also free speech, all in a mad rush to remove Trump just days before his term ends.” He said that Trump’s speech did not meet the legal standard for “incitement” and would be seen by the Supreme Court as protected speech. This sounds like just the kind of defense Trump’s attorneys are planning for his trial.

"The damage caused by the rioters...was enormous,” Turley said. “However, it will pale in comparison to the damage from a new precedent of a snap impeachment for speech protected under the First Amendment.” Of course, the House did it anyway.

Thanks for writing, Gary; hope I answered your questions.

From Paul:

Thanks for allowing me to comment, Governor. I am very disillusioned, with the Republican "club," and you. For two or three years, you have been chicken little on these CIA/FBI pending indictments. Time and again you breathlessly announced that charges, indictments and jail time was coming. The Democrats are destroying America with unbridled activism and relentless action while the "club" stonewalls and stands around in togas, all the while complicitly skewering Trump. Disgusting. 74 million Americans will not soon forget this insider treachery. Loyalty is supposed to work both ways. I wish Trump would start a 3rd party.

From the Gov:

Thanks for writing, Paul, but I think you mischaracterize my reports. The investigations have been interminable, and I don’t think we’ve ever said anyone was going to jail. We’ve said people DESERVE to go to jail, which is a different thing entirely. I share your abject disappointment and disgust that no one has been held accountable.

We can tell you what investigators have turned up, and we can point you to solid sources and great books exposing much of the deep state, but as for accountability, well, we can’t do anything about that, much as we would like to.

So, you put me, personally, in “the club,” wearing a toga, standing complicit as the Democrats skewer Trump? Aside from thinking I might look pretty silly in a toga, I have to wonder where on earth you get that image of me. I ran for President; didn’t QUITE make it. I have no power to put anyone in jail, as appropriate as that might be. I've made it crystal clear what I think about the double standard of “justice” in Washington DC.

Right now, increased activism is the very thing I’m encouraging for embittered Republicans. As for starting a third party, that would be the worst mistake conservatives could possibly make. Democrats are hoping beyond hope that we do. Start a new third party, and conservatives will never, ever, ever win another Presidential election. Ever. Guaranteed.

Thanks for writing, Paul. I hope this clears a few things up.

Dear Mike, there is something that you can do about the deep state problem!!!!
You have a platform, you have clout, but do you have the courage to expose the truth? I very seriously doubt it.
you should start at the top and work down, but you want to see only what in on the surface.
Since January 30, 1649 (maybe before this) when Oliver Cromwell beheaded King Charles I, these same people are still ordering people to commit acts of betrayal.

Hi, Governor, you asked awhile back our opinion on whether we liked the Scripture for the day at the beginning of your newsletter or at the end. My opinion, after pondering for these past days, is I prefer the Scripture at the end, for this reason: after reading the newsletter and feeling discouraged about the state of the world, reading Scripture afterwards puts my mind back in the right place, seeing God’s long term plans and being comforted by it. I don’t get the same peace when I read the Scripture for the day at the beginning. Just my two cents!

Thank you for your answers on the impeachment. So tired of the roller coaster ride we have all been on for months. I am taking a break from all of this. I am still here, just not as outspoken. Nothing I say will change the outcome. No matter much it is shared on FB, much of it just opinions and undocumented. And so many things are a double edged sword. Like the third party. I am taking a stand, "I want proof". Best of luck to Sarah

Do you think Donald Trump would run again in 2024? Boy I sure hope so! If he doesn’t run do think that Sen. Ted Cruz would consider running? Would Donald Trump consider starting up a third political party? Because I will vote for him!

    Mr Huckabee
A writer mentioned you wearing a yoga. Auctually If you had the olive wreath and holding some scrolls to bring the picture to life. No disrespect intended .That was a sigh of respect and status that fits well with you but not the Democrats would wear. They are too busy clutching there pearls.
On another note I truly believe they are trying to antagonize us into a civil war. Any damage they can go in the meantime is better for them. We already know the military supports them. People it will be bad !

I have been a strong, conservative Republican most of my adult life (I saw the light once I entered the workforce full time!). However, I am so disgusted and disillusioned by the party now; seems there are even more RINOs running the show than I expected to see.
I have no zeal to be part of the party today, but do feel that unless they change and clean house, we have no hope against the wiles of the Dems. Can you give me some reasons of why I would still want to be actively involved in the Republican Party and what I should do to help insure change will come? They haven’t listened to the grass roots in the past, what makes you think they will now?
Thank you and God bless you!

You keep on repeating that the third-party would be bad however when you see the outcome of 146 congressman voting to keep Liz Cheney, you can’t help but think but this party is way beyond with no spine and no back bone. And cleaning them out is going to be too tough. I would rather have another four years with the losers then be stuck with winners without no back bone.

I am writing to say thank you! I am a caregiver and go the house of an 86 year old gentleman 3 days a week (one shift is 12 hours) and all he tunes to on his TV is MSNBC. And quite loudly, I might add, since he is hard of hearing! I am forced to listen to hour after hour of the liberal portrayal of events. I am a conservative, born again believer from Pensacola, FL so this is very hard for me. I read my Bible day and try to stay positive and really appreciate reading your newsletter. Thank you for giving the facts, helping me stay calm, and for helping me to not be discouraged. Keep up the good work! You are appreciated more than I can express!

Governor, Love everything you do. I live in your home state of Arkansas and the election in this state seemed for the most part on the up and up. But it certainly didn’t appear that way in some other states such as Georgia and Pennsylvania as well as others. It seems to me that election security should be a top priority. A vote should be as secure as when you go to a bank to withdraw a large amount of money. No one in power now seems too concerned since they won. This is one of the most frustrating things on my mind right now. What as a private citizen can I do to help? Sure I could contact my Attorney General or whoever but it’s other states that don’t seem to be playing by the rules. And elections are run on a state level. Would love to get your comments on this. Thanks and we miss you here but are looking forward to electing your daughter as our next Governor!

I admire you and your daughter for standing up for America and for your Christian faith. I know you have God to lean on and he will protect you both. I believe that the Democratic Socialists are continuing with the impeachment to help hide their true intentions. The American people have been passive for so many years. Kept their heads in the sand and now we are all paying the price. I know that America’s future is in God’s hands. America started turning her back on Christ a long time ago. Children in school and colleges have been brain washed. They are living for everything they can get in this world and have no responsibility for their actions. The most appalling thing is their belief in abortion and that our freedom of speech is being eroded. God help us all.

Governor, after all is said and done, all the ,"marauders" were adults having reached the age of reason. Even a six year old from my generation, I am 81 years old, would know that disobeying a law enforcement officer or breaking out windows or distroying property and injuring adults or other children is not allowed. Nothing the president said while I was listening on the television would incite the rioting that occured on January 6th. Even soldiers are required to obey ONLY the LAWFUL ORDERS of those appointed over them, and are nor required to follow the IMMORAL ORDERS given. In my humble opinion, it would be a good idea for both sides to pass a test on the Constitution BEFORE they are certified to run for an elective office which will require them to take an oath to preserve, protect an defend the Constitution of the United States. If that were added to the prerequisites for elective office, the "marauders" would have stormed an empty building.
We have become so polarized that we simply don't realize that, "virtue lies in the mean", and there is no attempt to get to the center of any argument or disagreement. I have gone on too long. I will end by saying that all those who injured others, destroyed property, or stole others possessions should be incarcerated and required to compensate those they have injured or damaged.
Thank you for letting me give you my two cents worth.

Dear Mike, I want you to know that getting your newsletter and reading the BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY is one of my favorite things. So many times when things seem upside down the verse seems to calm and point me in another direction, so THANK YOU!!

I have a question regarding whether Biden is signing these EO's or not, wouldn't Kamela have the authority to sign them? if they are being signed by someone else, would they be NULL and VOID?

    THANKS ,

I have no zeal to be part of the party today, but do feel that unless they change and clean house, we have no hope against the wiles of the Dems.

I have a question regarding whether Biden is signing these EO's or not, wouldn't Kamela have the authority to sign them? if they are being signed by someone else, would they be NULL and VOID?

    THANKS ,

    February 4, 2021
    |

I have been a support of you and read your newsletter regularly, include passing it on at times. Great job. What I am writing about today is the NY22 congressional race and election. We are in the middle of Feb and today no one has been declared a winner. For the last month and a half the republican candidate has been ahead but time after time the Democratic candidate request an extension on certification. Talk about election irregularities look into this one and what started it all. Thanks again for your views and God Bless your daughter and hope she is elected.

Have grown to look fwd to your newsletters. How you know what I'm thinking is beyond my comprehension...but when you talk, you are speaking my mind. Thank you....
Re: the trial? This trial is not only truly asinine, it accentuates the utter lack of thought being put forth by not only the left, but the right as well. How we have allowed these people to become our 'leaders' is simply beyond understanding. What should we do? Start studying those who aspire to higher office and LOOK AT THEIR HISTORY! But then the left knew of Joe's history....which is exactly WHY they wanted him in. So...they arranged it. As usual it's up to the quiet majority to try to fix this mess. But we must. We shall. We will. God help us., meanwhile. And we love it that you're on our side, Mr. Mike.

      Oh can you say Rothchild's!!!!
"But all things that are reproved are made manifest by light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light". Ephesians 5:13
please shed the light on them!!!!
they own 80to 90 percent of Israel, it has been reported recently that they have purchased the temple Mount an surrounding property.

      THANKS ,

      Regards,
