“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

I condemn violence. But I’m not surprised. Until the Liberals are willing to sit down and have an honest discussion, things will continue to get worse. Unfortunately, until Pelosi, Schumer et al. are removed from the fray, no progress will be made. We all need to pray.

Based on what has happened in the last 8 years of this nation I'm not the least bit "surprised" about what happened in DC. Since Trump was elected this has been building, especially on the side of the left. The left's in ability to "impeach" the President has further heated the disillusionment of the the American people. What Trump illuminated in 4 years has been the final straw that has broken the proverbial camels back. This "forced" the left to resort to blatant visible fraud. I'm from Arizona and am still having a very hard time trying to get my mind around how this was done. Having been watching the feeble arguments by just about every pundit left winger and politicians, judge and frankly the Congress to not be able to "see" what has/had happened and what was the blatant theft of an election. Repeated again in Georgia twice.
So now We The People are going to pay a very very high price for this travesty of the nation's electoral process. Believe the "Swamp" has won and will continue to control this nation. Those of the nation that believed in and trusted Trump are going to be in for a very hard time and the Christians can expect very much the same.
Thank you for the chance to vent. Watch your show every week hope it stays on.

Governor, I'm not at all convinced that the Patriots at that protest today were Patriots at all. I think all should be arrested and punished, and I bet it will all come out in the end - infiltrators. I watched the presidents speech. He was not at all tepid. He showed empathy for his followers and requested they leave. Later I also read that police presence in the beginning was sparse. I might attribute this to defunding our men in Blue. In fact they should have been told to Stand Down. I wonder if Kamala is going to post bail. What say you?

I think the President made a serious mistake inviting any and everyone to a wild get together. He has hurt himself and his message but I don’t think that the supporters, who left their homes and mostly paid their own way to DC went there to riot. Most of the attendees were just standing around and only a few, which can be identified and prosecuted, took part in the riot. I felt like going myself for I feel like most of the Republicans have not supported our president. I personally have not been a fan of President Trump but I am amazed at how much he has accomplished in four short years. They could have put pressure on DOJ to investigate the election fraud claims, which some could not be dismissed for like of evidence. I trust my lying eyes. I would like for you to consider just how frustrated, angry and disappointed we are with the majority of our elected officials. Had they had become more involved the media would have been forced to eventually cover some of it. Sorry for the ranting. I have taken the time to watch and listen as to how our government operates and I don’t like the way our country is heading. I believe the “Deep State” is much wider than I could imagine. Just maybe, he did not want to scold the entire group.

Lots of left plants in the forerunners & then in mob like fashion the patriots got caught up in the spirit of the mob & followed where they never should have gone-we’re all sorry & hurt by it.

I have been told on the news and by people there that it was not Trump supporters. but antifa in disguise that started the trouble one news source said antifa is bragging on their networks about having people there to start this trouble.

This is a comment from a friend who was in DC today. The media needs to stop spreading lies!!

Around 3 million people were in DC today & around 10 people managed to get into the Capital building & tear it up & fight with police. It’s sad, very sad that a young girl was shot & killed, but this was the only violence all day, it was a very peaceful rally & protest. There was no rioting, the only violence was what took place inside the Capital & I’m almost certain that was Antifa/BLM. If it wasn’t, then many of the 3 million Americans that were outside the Capital would have all stormed in behind them, but they didn’t. They stood/sat on the Capital wall & steps with no violence at all. With the police standing alongside them. Not saying it was right, but just trying to help you see thru the MSM’s hysteria & lies.

We are fighting for our lives right now. To condemn the DC disruption is absurd. Antifa did more and were reported as peaceful protesters. Would you condemn those DC people if they were going against Hitler? Its the same thing. Wake up America you are at war for your lives and its going to take more then prayer. The left will never take you seriously until you threaten them. Get a pair!

He is an embarrassment to our Country!

I voted for the president twice and proud of it .I think he has done a great job, especially under the circumstances he has had to work. No doubt Donald Trump has a good heart and loves this country.
That being said, if was was an undecided , independent without a biblical word view I probably wouldn't vote for him! I believe his narcissistic personality got the best of him this go around and turned a lot of people off.
I'm sure there was a lot of voter fraud and he probably did get robbed of the election but I blame the Republican party as much anyone. Space does not allow me to share how I feel about the swamp dwellers in both parties ! The only cure is term limits and the right people serving those terms.

How much of what happened today would have occurred if a full audit of election results would have taken place immediately following legitimate questions raised after the Nov. election? Why if the claims were baseless is there so much opposition to that process? How many individuals involved in today's events were not Trump supporters, but members of ANTIFA?

Although I cannot condone the actions of the patriots today had I been there I would have joined them.
The feckless "leaders" in the Republican party are worthless.
I am not a Republican and have always considered myself a conservative independent voting for whomever I felt best suited my beliefs.
The folks that bothered to go to DC to try to make themselves heard 'may" have been wrong but they are FED UP as am I with our entire government.
It has become more than obvious to many of us baby boomers that the entire establishment is corrupt and ONLY padding their bank accounts with hard working Americans money and also by their under handed dealings with countries that hate us.
I hate to say it but it has ruined me this time.
    Warm Regards,

I have significant suspicions that those who engaged in violence and destruction were actual, real Trump supporters. Hopefully there will be subsequent investigations that will ascertain who the actual criminals were. While the mass media excused the burnings and looting of the summer by the dem/lib/antifa people, the media was quick to generalize and condemn the limited damages by today's demonstrators. We need the truth about the events today and the election of 2020.

Mr Huckabee you are at blame too with all your postings that incite hate and mistrust. The President and the Conservative Right are at fault and all be tried for treason. Accept the fact that President Dump lost.

Surely Mike you realize by now that this was instigated by antifa/thugs which some Trump supporters (my guess) inadvertantly got pulled into. There are videos of the doors left being unattended, like an open invitation...dont you see how this was the left's plan all along? Create a diversion, blame it on Trump (again) then simply move on -this time without the contesting of the vote? ( as of this writing some are backing down). Tell me, as much suspected fraudulent activity there has been, shouldn't it still be investigated??!!

The violence is unacceptable. So is Chuck’s comment about this will be “A day in infamy “ blah, blah! He forgets that the Dems rioted, looted, and burned, but , still, it’s horrible for ALL parties to do that! May God show us mercy!

Look at a potential Democratic House, Senate and Presidency as an opportunity to shift your sails. During the 2 years before the midterm election taxes may rise. Pay off high interest rate debt if capital gains taxes goes up. Increase the amount you save since the federal government may take more. Then two years from now several people will have the opportunity to vote Republican. Bye.

I watched footage of the inside of the Capitol. This carnage needs to be investigated. In my opinion, the people in that film are not President Trump’s supporters but Antifa thugs seeking to destroy the Capitol and also President Trump and his supporters.

    Dear Mr. Huckabee,

I look forward to your emails and respect you immensely! That being said, please don’t kick our President when he’s down? Not you, too? Enough already. The election was stolen from him. You & I know it. He was obviously angry today and who can blame him? I certainly don’t. In fact I was proud that some Trump supporters actually had the courage to stand up for him today! I’m sorry it got out of hand and don’t condone violence, but man, it was refreshing to see our side on the offensive for once! You can’t expect us to keep taking it lying down? WE WERE ROBBED!!!!! AND The Republican Party had failed us yet again by not standing up for President Trump. Pease tell me you haven’t turned traitor like the rest?

We are being informed by most media that the white household was stormed into.
The Next News Network reports they didn’t break in they were let in, etc. we know the mainstream media does not tell us the truth. Especially when it comes to attacking President Trump and this election.

I truly believe that the Democrats have worked tirelessly for the last four years setting this thing up so that no matter what happened, they would win. I have always stood with the President in all that he said about the Russia scandal and the things he has done for the good of this country. I was proud of him standing up to China and other countries threatening us and our freedoms but I believe he also got so overwhelmed at the though of losing this election that he acted only in the best interests of Donald Trump and not the nation. I would love to see him appoint a special prosecutor before he leaves office also and do as you said and release the full transcripts of the Biden conversations with Ukraine but personally, he has lost my confidence and any chance of ever getting my vote should he run again in 2024.
