6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

Funny how Democrats want to disarm Americans, but have no problem with this...

By Mike Huckabee

If one picture is worth a thousand words, then here’s a graphic that’s worth a lot of words I try never to say. The London Sunday Times created an infographic to illustrate just how much American military equipment the Taliban will have after President Biden bugged out and left it there for them to seize. Watch your blood pressure as you look at this, and see why Biden is now being called the biggest arms dealer to terrorists that the world has ever known. Funny how Democrats want to disarm Americans, but have no problem with bequeathing 358,530 assault rifles and 126,295 pistols to Taliban terrorists.

Blame these folks first...

Kurt Schlichter is not letting Biden voters off the hook for their part in putting him into power despite his long record of incompetence and obvious cognitive decline.

https://townhall.com/columnists/kurtschlichter/2021/08/30/own-your-failure-biden-voters-n2594924?300

But before we put all the blame on his voters, let’s not forget to put plenty of blame on the media and social media people who deliberately misled the voters.

Jonathan Turley has some objections

By Mike Huckabee

Law professor Jonathan Turley has some objections to the puff piece NBC interview with Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd, in which he boasted of being a hero who was just doing his job, and who saved countless lives by gunning down unarmed protester Ashli Babbitt.

https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/569827-justified-shooting-or-fair-game-shooter-of-ashlii-babbitt-makes-shocking

Turley points out that Byrd's own words discredit the two “investigations” (DOJ and Capitol Police) that cleared him of any wrongdoing. By his own admission, he couldn’t see her hands and didn’t know her intentions, but he perceived her as a threat so he killed her. Turley says that under this standard, police could have gunned down hundreds of unarmed protesters, not only at the Capitol but at all the BLM protests across America. He also asserts that the real heroes who “did their job” were all the other cops who showed restraint and didn’t use lethal force on unarmed protesters.

America cannot survive having a two-tiered justice system where people are prosecuted or let go, or even shot to death, based on their political affiliations. As Instapundit website master Glenn Reynolds, himself a law professor, observed, “In the eyes of the establishment — including those silent ‘law professors and experts’ — she deserved to die because she was a Trump supporter. It’s all about that.”

A rising tide of parents are taking their kids out of public schools

By Mike Huckabee

One of the few bright spots of the pandemic is that it allowed millions of parents to see the kind of racist, anti-American, leftist indoctrination that was being fed into their kids’ noggins in public schools. It’s sparked a welcome wave of rebellion at school board meetings nationwide. But some teachers couldn’t care less what those backward parents think. Like the teacher in Southern California who sparked outrage with her social media posts admitting she’d removed the American flag from her classroom because it made her “uncomfortable,” but if kids wanted to say the Pledge of Allegiance, they could say it to the LGBTQ Pride flag that is still in her classroom.

https://www.westernjournal.com/teacher-brags-no-american-flag-class-tells-students-pledge-allegiance/

This kind of blatant propagandizing, open hostility to America and arrogant disregard for the anger of parents is coming at a high cost, and not just in the crumbling reputation of public schools, which was already shaky. A Stanford/New York Times study finds that a rising tide of parents are taking their kids out of public schools.

https://reason.com/2021/08/27/families-are-fleeing-government-run-schools/

Nationwide, enrollment in public schools declined by 3% last year. More ominously, kindergarten enrollment dropped by 13%, and that suggests even bigger drops ahead as those shrunken classes advance into higher grades. One school district in Brooklyn saw its kindergarten enrollment drop from 76 to 37. And this isn’t just because parents wanted to keep their kids home during the pandemic: the study found that schools that offered only distance learning increased their enrollment decline by about 40%.

Since funding is tied to enrollment, that means not only fewer students in public schools in the future, but less funding (although Democrats keep showering public schools with billions in their “COVID relief” bills, even when the schools are closed and the teachers’ unions that help reelect them are refusing to go to work.)

Matt Welch at Reason magazine suggests that we may be seeing the apex of teachers’ unions’ power before an inevitable decline. Their chosen politicians got into office, and they got everything they wanted, from endless shutdowns and draconian COVID rules to leftist indoctrination like Critical Race Theory, to mountains of taxpayer money. And as a result, “they created a product that's literally repellant to millions of parents, even at the cost of free.”

Well, that’s the reason why they’re so desperate to teach our kids to be leftists before they can be taught how to think.

Bill Maher's common sense

By Mike Huckabee

I’ve occasionally gotten flak from the right for appearing on Bill Maher’s show or for defending him even when I disagree completely with his comments. But I respect that he’s one of the few remaining classical liberals who believes in free speech and listening to people who disagree with him. And lately, he’s been arousing the fury of the “cancel culture” left by blasting their intolerance when few other people in the media have the guts to do so.

https://redstate.com/alexparker/2021/08/29/bill-maher-may-have-just-delivered-his-most-conservative-monologue-ever-n434597

On Friday’s edition of his show “Real Time,” Maher gave what some are calling his most conservative monologue yet, although it’s really just common sense (unfortunately, that only exists on the conservative side these days.) Maher blasted the “woke” snowflake culture whining about how oppressed they are in America. He made the great point that all woke leftists should have to take an Afghan refugee into their homes, so when they start getting outraged over something like the host of “Jeopardy” telling a non-PC joke years ago, the refugee can ask them, “Have you people lost your (BLEEP) minds?” and tell them what real oppression means.

There’s more at the link, but as always with Bill, a WARNING about the language.

Ed Asner dead at 91

By By “Huckabee” pop culture guru Pat Reeder (http://www.hollywoodhifi.com)

Actor Ed Asner died peacefully Sunday at 91. He won seven Emmy Awards, more than any other male performer. Five of them were for playing Lou Grant, first on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” then on his own series “Lou Grant.” It was a rare instance of a character going from a half-hour sitcom to a one-hour drama.

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/ed-asner-dead-91-lou-grant-mary-tyler-moore-show

He also played hundreds of other roles over the years, in movies, TV, stage and even cartoon voiceovers. He was the old man in Pixar’s “UP,” and Santa Claus in “Elf.” I saw him on stage twice, the first time in a production of “Born Yesterday,” and just a couple of years ago in a funny one-man play he wrote, “A Man and His Prostate,” about his emergency prostate removal in Italy.

It seemed surreal that multi-award winner Ed Asner was doing that show in a little theater in suburban Dallas, but he knew the manager and he wanted to try it out in front of an audience in hopes of taking it to Broadway. He wasn’t in the best of health even then (he mostly sat on stage, reading from the script), but it was still a terrific performance. Blogger Mark Evanier said of him that he loved acting and would appear in anything he thought worthy, from a local play to a student film, even if there was no money in it.

Of course, he was also known for his outspoken leftwing political views, which I’m sure didn’t endear him to our readers. But I’ll say this for him: they were his honest views. He didn’t adopt or adapt them to be trendy or politically correct. They even got him in trouble with the left sometimes, like when he blasted Hollywood for being afraid to criticize Obama’s bombing in Syria for fear of being called racist. That was one of those things you didn’t dare say out loud in Hollywood, but Ed Asner said it. And he was always ready to debate all comers. I respect that more than I do what passes for liberals today, who just expect you to acknowledge their views are the only correct ones and to shut up.

Interesting playout of Biden's 'gift' to the Taliban. Given how open our southern border is, maybe we should expect to see a modified version of the Fast 'n Furious drama from recent history. Wait a minute and you will see history repeat itself.

This is directed to “Huckabee” pop culture guru Pat Reeder with all due respect. ...full disclosure, I graduated from North Texas State University in 1969..."Mean" Joe Green was on our football team during my college years. During my senior year at Denton Senior High School (1963-64), on November 22, 1963, my next door neighbor was Robert Oswald, Lee Harvey Oswald's older brother...very nice man...We lived on Sierra Drive.

You might have missed the most controversial "cause" championed by the late Ed Asner. I offer this very short synopsis. Perhaps the widow of brutally executed Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner could provide more details.

<b>"Mumia Abu-Jamal" </b>is an evil black cold blooded cop killer who was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in 1982 for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. Faulkner had stopped the killer's brother for a traffic violation. Abu-Jamal crept up behind Faulkner and shot him in the back, but it did not kill him, only paralyzed him. He rolled Faulkner over on his back, taunted him, and then emptied his pistol into his face to make him unrecognizable and to prevent an open casket funeral. Mrs. Faulkner, with the help of famed Michael Smerconish, wrote a book about it: "Murdered by Mumia: A Life Sentence of Loss, Pain, and Injustice."
