Steve Harvey said that cancel culture has “killed comedy,” and it’s caused him to step away from doing stand-up. He says that every joke these days allegedly hurts somebody’s feelings, and that when he finally does another stand-up special, he’ll probably have to call it “This Is It” because he’ll never be allowed to do another one.

Personally, while I understand his viewpoint, I believe that now more than ever, we need comedians to step up and tell as many jokes as possible about the “woke” left. Knuckling under to them only gives them a greater sense of their own power to censor and intimidate. Comedians have always been society’s greatest weapon against arrogant tyrants, and just because the tyrants are self-righteous “activists” with Twitter accounts instead of politicians or military dictators, that shouldn’t make them immune to richly-deserved ridicule.

In a related story, here’s a must-read article by Bari Weiss at Substack about the dire situation in Hollywood, where leftism and wokeism have many people terrified of saying anything that might offend someone and get them blacklisted (just using the word “blacklisted” can now get you blacklisted.)

It’s gone beyond a welcome openness to writers and creators of more diverse backgrounds to the point where there’s blatant discrimination against white job applicants. That means more racially diverse writers, but also means that good, experienced writers are being shut out, which helps to explain why so much of what we’re now seeing on our screens isn’t fresh, creative, thrilling or entertaining, it’s just transparent leftist propaganda that feels as if it were written by freshman UCLA film school students. It’s why, if you want well-written stories with sharp dialogue, original stories and believable characters, you’ll need a subscription to Turner Classic Movies.

We don’t go to the movies, haven’t in years, too much cursing, violence and sex. We’re not prudes, just don’t like to hear my Gods name spoken in vane. Last movie we did see, “I Can Only Imagine”, great movie. Hollyweird hasn’t put anything out decent in years. That’s all.

This too, will soon pass, hypocrisy is like a fad, it's shelf life as short as iceberg lettuce. The damage however lingers like the smell of poop on a shoe.

Steve Harvey , like all the other cop out artists , has sold his soul to the devil . They are now paying homage to the " god of money " . They lack intestinal fortitude ! In other words , " no guts " !

Have you got something against UCLA? It has produced a wide variety of outstanding writers directors and performers. I think maybe the new school in New York would have been a better reference!

Personally, I'd LOVE to hire him for a fundraiser for our local scholarship fund and I'd be more than happy to tell snowflakes to stay home!

I feel that we are returning to an era much like the "McCarthyism" of the 1950s. We've lost our freedom to speak, to have an opinion, to be ourselves. I also feel that I don't know what or who people are. Why do we have to know the sexual orientation of everyone? I don't shout from my rooftop that I am heterosexual. It's no one's business and I really don't want to know that part of anyone else's business. Of course, I am old...75...and I guess that makes me a non-woke person.

Ben Mankiewicz the radical, leftist and member in good standing of "The Turks. Has been turning TCM into another "WOKE" paradise for years now. His constant tirade against films, and characters from those films is so boring, petty and old it has me turning completely away from TCM, which was the last bastion for great films. Now it is becoming a bastion for actors selling wine from their NAPA Valley vineyards, and cruises for leftists. When I constantly hear him attack Joh Wayne's portrayal of Ethan Edwards in "The Searchers," as simply a Native American hating racist, I have to ask myself, is that all this delusional host can say about this performance? That's all he gets out of the movie? The movie of course is of it's time, and represents the feelings of not only the American Indians at the time, but the white people who lived those days as well. Doesn't Mr. Mankiewicz try and understand what makes Ethan Edwards, the way he is. Mankiewicz glosses over the murder of Edward's family by the Comanches, whose War Chief, Scar, played excellently by the late Henry Brandon. As well as the death of Martin Pauley's, family at the hands of the Indians(where Ethan found Martin afterward). Nor the source of Scar's hatred against the whites for the death of his own family. Yet according to Mankiewicz it all boils down to simply labeling people. I will say however that I did enjoy Mankeiwicz and his Turk hosts the night Trump beat Hillary. Their disgust with the results of the election was hilarious. I could watch reruns of that epic comedy for years. Get what you can from the TCM movies. They are rapidly disappearing.

I would encourage people (viewers AND creators) to investigate www.loor.tv - their slogan is, "Entertainment Unfiltered by Hollywood or Church Ladies." They are trying to produce good-quality stuff that reflects a Christian worldview but is not hamstrung by the need for a schmaltzy altar-call. "Christian Movies Shouldn't Suck" is another of their mantras. I've had lunch with their founder: he's a good man.

We reap what we sow. People should have taken a stand a long time ago now it's out of hand. I grew up watching All In The Family where no one took themselves seriously. What happened between then and now?

If "wokeness" has any substance, why are there so many black American entertainers? The one's I admire the most are those that credit hard work and perseverance for their success. They acknowledge the opportunity our Republic has afforded them and are grateful for it.
