It is very American to question our elected officials and to demand accountability
People who make threats against judges, politicians or any law enforcement officers, whether local cops or out of control FBI agents should be accountable for those threats to the full extent of the law. And I’ve repeatedly said publicly that I make NO excuses for those who actually rioted at the Capitol on Jan 6 of 2021 or who advocate violence against others for any reason. But let me equally clear that when we’re told that even questioning authorities is the same as violence, I’ve got to throw the flag on that. Attorney General Merrick Garland paraded in front of the cameras to denounce those who made threats against FBI agents after the stunning and ridiculous raid on Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago. But he sure didn’t call a press conference or send out the FBI to round up the people who threatened Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh or Amy Coney Barrett in violation of federal law and marched in the streets in front of their homes. But he did say that he wanted to investigate parents who spoke up at school board meetings and even had the audacity to label them “domestic terrorists.” Ditto for FBI Director Christopher Wray. And of course, soon to be FORMER Congresswoman Liz Cheney chimed in and claimed that demanding a fair, impartial, and unbiased investigation into January 6 would be a “threat to democracy!” The real threat to democracy is having deep-state swamp creatures use the intelligence agencies and law enforcement personnel to abuse the rights of American citizens in unconstitutional search and seizure actions that target the political enemies of the Biden administration and the Washington insiders who hate Donald Trump more than they love America. And despite what Liz Cheney or Merrick Garland says, it’s not un-American to question the actions of the FBI or DOJ when they lie—yes, lie—to obtain warrants whether from a FISA court or a low-level magistrate who is a Trump-hating Obama donor. In fact, if we DON’T question these police state actions that are hidden in unreleased affidavits and search warrants, then we invite more abuses of our fundamental and sacred Constitutional rights.
We need some Republicans who will demand accountability for the actions of federal agents, not cover for them when they engage in abuse of power and treat federal agencies as the political tool of the Democrat party.
And the media ought to be ashamed of itself, although we know they have NO SHAME when it comes their stage 4 terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. If Donald Trump had ordered federal agents to storm the Martha’s Vineyard beach house of Barak Obama or the personal home of James Comey, the media talking heads would have had their empty heads exploding on live TV and the civil liberties attorneys would have rushed to court to demand a cease and desist. But when the target is Donald Trump, conservatives, pro-life advocates, or even parents of 6 year olds who don’t want their children indoctrinated with Critical Race Theory nonsense or nutty ideas that boys as young as 4 can just declare themselves to be girls and make it so, then are you telling me we’re supposed to be just shut up and let the loony left take the country to the toilet? There is nothing patriotic about remaining silent when half our citizens are being branded as terrorists or we’re being told that loving God, respecting the flag and national anthem, and demanding equal treatment under the law is unacceptable.
So arrogant and elitist Liz “Lincoln”—er…Cheney—can spare us the lectures about how much better she is than the rest of us. But I hope one day she will repent of her pride and Trump-hate and confess that having a scripted TV show called a hearing and not allowing cross-examination of witnesses or insisting that witnesses had to have actually seen and heard what they testified of is what really threatens democracy. But there’s hope in all of this—Liz lost her seat in Congress by 40 points. She thinks the nation now wants her to run for President. How absurd. What people were trying to tell her was that she needs to just sit in the corner for a while and think about what she’s been doing to her country. And maybe when she apologizes, she can come out and play.
A shocking allegation
A Twitter whistleblower has made a shocking allegation against the social media giant to Congress and several federal agencies. Twitter’s former head of security, Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, says that Twitter has “major security problems that pose a threat to its own users’ personal information, to company shareholders, to national security, and to democracy.” He claims these security flaws make Twitter susceptible to hacking, manipulation and disinformation.
Nick Arama of Redstate.com reports that according to Zatko, “thousands of employees — almost half the workforce — have access to the platform’s central controls and the most sensitive information on users without adequate oversight. The report notes that one or more current employees may even be working for foreign intelligence.”
In response to Elon Musk’s charge that Twitter wasn’t being honest about how many of its accounts are bots, Zatko accused Twitter’s bosses of misleading the board and federal regulators. He said they actually have no way of measuring how many bots there are.
Twitter responded by claiming that Zatko was fired for “poor performance.” Maybe that means he failed to keep his mouth shut.
Judging from my experience, it’s hard to imagine any connections between Twitter’s employees and intelligence of any kind, particularly the "fact-checkers." But if you were looking for yet another reason to get off social media, here it is on a silver platter. Remember the cardinal rule of social media: if you don’t pay anything for the company’s product, then you are the company’s product.
Paul Pelosi is found guilty
Tuesday, Nancy Pelosi’s wealthy husband Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to DUI and causing injury in a car crash back in May. He was sentenced to five days in jail, three years’ probation, restitution payments and a three-month drunk driving program.
But don’t get excited expecting to see a Pelosi in an orange jumpsuit anytime soon (unless Nancy buys a designer one.) The judge ruled that he already had credit for four days of jail time. I know what you're thinking: no, not from his marriage to Nancy Pelosi. That's just mean! The judge meant he had two days of jail time credit from actual time served (did he really spend 48 hours in the slammer?), two for conduct credits, and the remaining day to be covered by an eight-hour work program.
It would be easy to carp about politically-connected rich liberals getting away with anything these days, but to be fair, this is California, where even everyday armed robbers, carjackers and killers are released without bail before the ink is dry on their arrest warrants.
Big audience shows up to say goodbye
CNN drew some of its biggest ratings in a long time (nowhere near Fox News’ ratings, but big for CNN) on Sunday night when they aired the final episode of the recently-fired Brian Stelter’s laughably-misnamed show, “Reliable Sources.”
It reminds me of what Red Skelton reportedly said about the huge crowd that unexpectedly showed up for widely-despised Columbia Studios boss Harry Cohn’s funeral: “It just goes to prove, give the people what they want and they’ll show up for it.”
