AINSWORTH: Thank you, Naomi Wolf; also, a must-read J6 analysis

In this weekend’s newsletter, we praised feminist icon Naomi Wolf for the heartfelt apology she gave conservatives/civil libertarians for believing all the hoaxes that had been perpetrated by the left. Dr. Wolf realized she’d been duped after seeing the January 6 video that Pelosi’s Kangaroo Kommittee had hidden away, the better to present selectively edited and doctored video that supported a pre-fab narrative. Now Dr. Wolf knows it’s just been one lie after another with them.

I wanted to build on that commentary and also to thank Dr. Wolf personally, because I was fascinated by her book THE BEAUTY MYTH and had from time to time imagined sitting down for a long lunch with her, discussing various points she made and examples she had included in that book. Though years have passed and we’re now on a very different topic, selective perception is a scourge common to both.
Dr. Wolf wrote her apology a couple of days after seeing the first night of video presented by Tucker Carlson, excerpts from 40,000-plus hours of video that his producers had spent a few weeks going through. This was video that Democrats had kept hidden from the American public for over two years. If Democrats had won the House again and we hadn’t installed new GOP Speaker Kevin McCarthy, it would have remained hidden for the foreseeable future and we wouldn’t have seen this evidence of their deception.
But before the House could change hands, we had the J6 committee, “that used,” Dr. Wolf said, “millions of dollars in taxpayer money to turn that horrible day, and that tragic event, into a message point that would be used to tar a former President as a would-be terrorist, and to smear all Republicans, by association, as ‘insurrectionists,’ or as insurrectionists’ sympathizers and fellow travelers.”
BY JOVE, I THINK SHE’S GOT IT!
“You don’t have to agree with Mr. Carlson’s interpretation of the videos [that the protests were ‘mostly peaceful’],” she said, “to conclude that the Democrats in leadership, for their own part, have cherry-picked, hyped, spun, and in some ways appeared to have lied about, aspects of January 6, turning a tragedy for the nation into a politicized talking point aimed at discrediting half of our electorate.”
Dr. Wolf went beyond her apology to offer solid information about security at the Capitol building, based on her own research for her book THE END OF AMERICA. She could state unequivocally that there is “a tightly scripted chain of command and an absolute ironclad security plan in these buildings...so that security crises such as the events of Jan 6 CAN NEVER HAPPEN.” (Emphasis hers.)
That’s why it makes no sense that the Capitol Police were escorting Jacob Chansley, the so-called “QAnon Shaman,” into the Senate Chambers, even opening the door for him. “...The barbaric nature of his appearance,” Dr. Wolf said, “was so illustrative of EXACTLY the message that Democrats in leadership wished to send about the event...that I am not surprised to see that his path to the center of events was not blocked but apparently was facilitated by Capitol Police.”
Dr. Wolf, having studied both history and the theatrics of history, understands that people who have agendas can be used by other people who have agendas of their own. This appears to be what has happened with Mr. Chansley, who is currently serving four years in prison for what was essentially an amiable stroll through the Capitol building, albeit in a pretty crazy get-up. (The death of Capitol Police Office Brian Sicknick, which happened later due to natural causes, was similarly exploited by the Democrats.)
We’ve been told that this mayhem at the Capitol was something unprecedented, a threat to democracy itself. Thank you, Dr. Wolf, for your historical perspective on the right of “massing peacefully” --- and for including facts about the little-known confrontation in 1932, over the financial bonus that was supposed to be paid --- if the Senate passed the House bill --- to veterans of World War I. Thank you for warning that “we should be wary of allowing history to be rewritten so as to criminalize peaceful, Constitutionally-protected assembly at ‘The People’s House.’”
Dr. Wolf included a list of several stories that turned out to be nonsense, or, in her words, “not as I was told...by NPR, MSNBC and THE NEW YORK TIMES.” Actually, there are numerous other fake stories. How about the lie that Trump said there were “fine people” on the side of white supremacy? Recently canceled author and cartoonist Scott Adams has just put together his updated list of 15 hoaxes.

“I believed that Pres Trump instigated the riot at the Capitol,” Dr. Wolf admitted, “because I did not know that his admonition to his supporters to assemble ‘peacefully and patriotically’ had been deleted by all of the news coverage that I read.” (Note: if only she’d been reading the Huckabee newsletter, she would’ve gotten the full picture from the start.)
“I don’t like President Trump,” she said, but tellingly went on: “(Do I not? Who knows? I have been lied to about him so much for so long, I can’t tell whether my instinctive aversion is simply the habituated residue of years of being on the receiving end of lies.”)
Ah, “habituated residue.” That’s exactly what Trump’s political adversaries have worked hard to create, and are still counting on. Thank you again, Dr. Wolf, for putting it so brilliantly.

Christopher Roach expresses similar sentiments about January 6 in his piece for AMERICAN GREATNESS called “So Much For Transparency.” Biggest take-away: “The nationwide dragnet and harsh punishments of mere trespassers who protested on January 6 has already imposed a major chilling effect on ‘in real-life’ right-wing activism. But hiding video and then having it released and repeated so dramatically also has a cost. It reveals our nation’s leadership class, yet again, as craven liars. And it will only further decrease trust and respect by the citizens for those in power.”
“In the age of lies,” he says, “telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

Finally, this MUST-READ. Remember our oft-repeated line that January 6 fit the Democrats’ political strategy so well that if it hadn’t happened, they would’ve had to create it?
The more we learn about this, the more questions we have about how much they actually had to do with it. And now, Sundance at THE CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE has passed along another reason why, in the context of the Democrats’ agenda, the January 6 riot HAD to happen. It was suggested by reader “Regitiger,” who analyzed the constitutional and parliamentary law involved.
There’s more speculation here --- particularly as it relates to Vice President Pence’s role --- than I can get on board with unless/until we learn more, but look at what this author says about a likely motive for making sure that riot happened. For Pelosi to be able to call an emergency session and bypass any election certification challenges, she had to have a crisis. And not just any crisis --- one that involved the Speaker of the House, both minority leaders and the Vice President NOT BEING PRESENT in the chambers. It would require their emergency evacuation.
And why would they have needed an emergency evacuation if they’d been guarded by 20,000 National Guard troops?
These congressional floor challenges, of which the Democrats were expecting two, would’ve offered a legal and constitutional basis for “standing” in judicial challenges that would’ve ended up in the Supreme Court. Remember how courts kept refusing election cases because the plaintiffs lacked “standing”? Apparently, they wouldn’t have been able to do this if the election challenges had been filed as planned.
According to this analysis, the crisis at the Capitol was precisely coordinated to prevent those challenges from being entered into the Chamber record.
So, I now see TWO possible motives for “helping” the riot happen, if that’s what Democrats did, and both could be true: 1) preventing the election challenges that would have given standing to plaintiffs, and 2) providing cover for turning the ‘Justice’ Department against Americans, specifically Trump supporters, by labeling them domestic terrorists.
Bank woes
Friday, California regulators and the FDIC shut down Silicon Valley Bank, and on Sunday, New York state regulators closed Signature Bank, which had heavy deposits from the cryptocurrency sector. Signature Bank also made a public denunciation of Trump after January 6th and cut financial ties with him. Bet they wish they had his business back now.

Also, Barney Frank sat on their board, so that’s a red flag in more ways than one.
Financial authorities spent the weekend scrambling to contain the economic fallout. They were worried that Americans fearful of this spreading would cause a run on banks today.

President Biden gave a speech this morning assuring Americans that “US banking is safe,” a message that didn’t seem to reach Wall Street in time. Banking shares plunged so much that trading had to be suspended. Not a very reassuring sign.
Elon Musk said he was “open to the idea” of buying SVB. Considering it went under at least partly due to its executives being more focused on woke politics than sound business principles, buying it would feel like déjà vu for Elon.
However, it was reported this morning that the British banking giant HSBC has agreed to buy SVB for one pound. I suspect they overpaid.

Silicon Valley venture capitalists who stand to lose their custom-tailored shirts are screaming for a federal bailout of SVB.
But Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said there will be no bailout. However, the government says it will protect depositors (even though the large majority of deposits aren’t covered by FDIC insurance), and somehow, this will not be paid by taxpayers. It sounds like they’re scrapping all their inflation-fighting moves and planning yet another round of money-printing, which will indirectly harm all Americans. Also, I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the SVB depositors include a lot of rich tech industry Democrat donors.

As you can see, this is a rapidly-changing story, so I’m sure there will be even more developments by the time you read this. All I can say with any certainty is that if you have any gold buried in the backyard, this probably would be a good time to leave it there.
The new poster child for “Get woke, Go broke”
James Pinkerton at Breitbart.com has more on how Silicon Valley Bank is the new poster child for “Get Woke, Go Broke.”
And the founder of Home Depot had some salient comments about the failure of SVB and its woke executives who had suspiciously lucky timing in the selling of their SVB stock. He also talked about what this might imply about the Biden economy and offered a perfect six-word summation of this Administration, and not just about the economy but on a range of issues:

That article also has some news and links on more stories about how the executives of SVB seemed much more focused on leftist hobbyhorse issues like diversity, equity, inclusion, climate change and LGBTQ+++Q-W-E-R-T-Y-M-O-U-S-E rights than on unimportant trivia like return on investment and preventing the bank from going under.
New Trump Songs, Disney Wokeness Protest

Donald Trump has had success in business, politics, books and TV, and now you can add “recording star” to his resume. A song called “Justice For All,” featuring a prison choir of January 6th defendants singing the National Anthem interspersed with Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, hit #1 on iTunes Saturday. At this writing, it also has 545,000 plays on YouTube. It’s to raise money for their legal defense. You can hear it at the link.
But for a more upbeat Trump song, I recommend “Make America Great Again Again.” Some friends of ours helped out with the backing vocals on this. They’re hoping that the Trump camp will adopt it and play it at rallies, where it would be a great addition. I hope someone in his camp sees this and gives it a try. It’s very catchy, and it has a cute video of regular folks doing the “Trump dance.” Check it out here (warning: it might be stuck in your head all day.)
Finally, some people who are fed up with Disney’s turn to the woke side are planning a protest at Disneyland on March 18th to stop them from quietly remodeling the “Splash Mountain” ride to remove all traces of the Uncle Remus characters from “Song of the South.” CEO Bob Iger apparently hoped to do this quietly, but the head of their theme parks and some of the board members are fighting it. The protest would shine a light on their wokery, and maybe send the wokesters scurrying like cockroaches, so even if you don’t care about this movie or the ride, if you’re in the area, consider joining in.
Note that there is nothing racist about the ride (I’d argue that most of the people who condemn the movie have never actually seen it and most of the things they say about it are factually incorrect), but Disney is so cowed by the woke mob that they want to erase Brer Rabbit and even the great song, “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” from their parks, just because they’re associated with the movie-that-must-not-be-named.
There’s more about it on the latest video from one of my favorite YouTube channels. It’s a Hollywood news site inspired by Mystery Science Theater 3000, in which supervillain Diktor Van Doomcock fights his war against woke assaults on pop culture from his lair at the center of the Earth, aided by his sidekicks Harvey Cthulu and the Skull of Calderon. It’s hilarious and goofy, but he usually has some real inside info and makes a lot of great points. Warning: occasional bad language. Here’s the Disney protest video.
