1. Awaiting Sentencing: Four Oath Keepers

By Mike Huckabee

Four more members of the Oath Keepers could be facing up to 20 years in prison after being convicted of “seditious conspiracy” and other charges in the January 6th riot.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/4-oath-keepers-convicted-seditious-conspiracy-roles-jan-6-riot

I won’t recount all the details of the case, which you can read at the link. But they were accused of bringing a store of weapons to a Virginia hotel to use for a “quick reaction force” if they needed to get them to further their plot to overthrow the government. Their attorneys say they brought them to DC in case they needed to act as security and claimed they just got “swept up” in the fervor at the Capitol, and the fact that they never fetched the weapons shows they were not trying to stage an armed insurrection.

This will undoubtedly be appealed. It’s hard to predict how that might go. “Seditious conspiracy” is a charge that’s rarely been brought against anyone since the Civil War, partly because its constitutionality has been questioned since it could infringe on free speech rights. The defense attorneys claim the government’s witnesses and evidence didn’t stand up to scrutiny, and one said, "We got a trial by residents of a small judicial district who in one way or another were almost all impacted by the events of January 6th. I think that raises some real troubling issues.” Stay tuned…

2. More On Our Two-Tiered Justice System

By Mike Huckabee

I want to make it clear that I no way downplay the charges against the Oath Keepers when I bring this up, but the timing of this harsh verdict in the same week that Antifa radicals are attacking cops and burning Atlanta like General Sherman is only hammering home the impression that we have a two-tiered justice system. Anyone remotely involved with January 6th has been pursued and prosecuted to the full extent of the law and beyond, while violent leftist rioters have been repeatedly released with few if any charges.

The Biden DOJ refuses to classify Antifa as a domestic terrorist group. They claim it’s not an organized national movement, even though the Atlanta Antifa radicals who shot a police officer and committed violence, arson and vandalism called on other chapters nationwide to do the same, and some in Boston did. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is trying to force the DOJ to do its job.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/01/marjorie-taylor-greene-tells-tucker-carlson-will-introduce-legislation-declare-antifa-domestic-terrorist-organization-video/

Now that some of them are being arrested and facing serious charges in Atlanta (which should have happened two years ago), we’re finally getting a look at who these people are, and it’s obvious why they hide their faces behind black masks. Take a look at these mugshots:

https://legalinsurrection.com/2023/01/antifa-members-arrested-in-atlanta-are-white-and-five-arent-even-from-georgia/

Note that they’re all white and they look less like “social justice warriors” than underemployed gender studies majors, or a yearbook page from one of our more indulgent liberal arts colleges. And most of them aren’t even from Georgia. They traveled in from other places to set fire to a minority neighborhood and demand less policing there. There used to be a name for white people who burned black neighborhoods, but it wasn’t “Antifa,” it was “the Klan.”

But these aren’t just any white people. As Tucker Carlson put it, these are the lunatic children of wealthy progressive parents. He found photos of one arrestee on social media taken on his dad’s yacht (proving the adage that only rich people can afford to be socialists.)

Here’s another one arrested in Atlanta who is the daughter of a UK Foreign Office consultant and a New Jersey-based Chinese pharma tycoon, and (surprise!) a former CNN production assistant. I wonder if she’s the one who assured them that riots and arson are “mostly peaceful”?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11667905/Antifa-terror-suspect-daughter-Pharma-China-giant-British-Foreign-Office-consultant.html?dg

I’ve been calling these people "thugs,” but that’s obviously too mature a term for them. The more accurate word would be “brats.” They mostly appear to be a claque of spoiled children demonstrating the arrested development results of being raised in an atmosphere of leftwing politics, excessive privilege, and helicopter parents who constantly told them that they were special and perfect and never said no to them.

I have always suspected that if any of them ever started being held accountable for the very real crimes they’re committing, the rest would drop their revolutionary cosplay and run back to their jobs at Starbucks PDQ. I believe that nothing would put the fear of God into these brats faster than the idea that for the first time in their lives, they might actually face consequences for their rotten behavior.

3. “The Mind Reels” Dept

By Mike Huckabee

According to the Biden White House, there is nothing that those rascally Republicans won’t do! First, they caused the historic surge of illegal immigration by complaining that Biden had opened the border. Why, they might have even planted those classified documents in his garage. And now, according to Biden’s press secretary, by writing a bill to increase domestic energy production, House Republicans want Americans to have to pay higher gas prices. (In case you’re a CNN viewer or have been living on Mars for the past two years, Biden came into office and immediately clamped down on domestic energy production, sending gas prices rising to historic highs.)

https://www.foxnews.com/media/karine-jean-pierre-warns-house-republicans-want-raise-gas-prices-say

I have to admit, the sheer gall of this tactic – of blaming your political opponents for the results of your own terrible policies – is so obvious, it’s almost fascinating to watch. I can’t wait to find out how Republicans forced Hunter Biden to smoke crack, hire prostitutes and peddle influence.

4. Viral Video

By Mike Huckabee

Three cheers for Des Plaines, Illinois, alderwoman Carla Brookman for giving a lesson in free speech and basic respect and decorum to some LGBTQIA+++ activists who apparently think they are the only people who are allowed to speak in public.

5. Is Tucker Correct About Nixon?

By Mike Huckabee

Tucker Carlson recently went viral when he claimed on his show that the CIA drove Richard Nixon out of office and replaced him with the compliant, unelected Gerald Ford because Nixon wanted to investigate the agency’s involvement in the JFK assassination. He made some claims in that commentary that surprised many people, but were they accurate? Robert Spencer at PJ Media took a closer look at some of the claims and questions:

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/robert-spencer/2023/01/23/ok-so-did-the-cia-engineer-watergate-to-get-rid-of-nixon-n1664306

6. Is White Paint Racist?

Lincoln Brown at PJ Media reports that it’s almost comforting to learn that universities in other nations are run by people who are just as insane as those running our universities. Like the “academics” at the University of Bergen in Norway who somehow spewed enough woke buzzwords to convince somebody to give them funding to conduct a study into whether white paint is racist.

https://pjmedia.com/culture/lincolnbrown/2023/01/23/norwegian-study-will-determine-if-white-paint-is-racist-n1664303

Boy, are all those remodelers on HGTV who paint everything white going to be in trouble now!

But wait: did you really think that would be the stupidest “woke” story of the day? You’ve got to give these people more credit. When finding things to be offended by is your only job, you have to be really resourceful.

And so, we now have “trans” activists demanding that streaming outlets ban Aretha Franklin’s 1968 classic, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” because it allegedly “perpetuates multiple harmful anti-trans stereotypes” and “there is no such thing as a natural woman.”

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2023/01/23/can-you-guess-which-aretha-franklin-hit-is-triggering-trans-activists-n1664211

So they’ve actually found a way to trample on both women’s rights and black people's musical icons. I have a feeling that demanding that Aretha be canceled is a battle they'll regret launching.

As noted in the linked story, this was so ridiculous that the group calling for it was forced to go on social media and insist that they are not a parody account, although I’m not entirely convinced. Or maybe like so many woke leftists these days, they’re just a self-parody.

I love reading your column. However, because I have an ad blocker on my computer (that I can't even find, but must be part of my virus security), I can't open anything from PJ Media or RedState. Maybe others are having the same problem too.

I really take issue with your reference to America having a two-tiered justice system. Now l will admit l’m not a linguistics expert by any means but to me the term two-tiered would tend to indicate differing levels of justice pretty much on the same side. I think a more proper description would be “double standard” - in other words it’s OK (or no big deal) for one side but MASSIVE CAN’T GET ANY WORSE for the other… but that’s just my opinion.

... and then they'll want to ban rain, because it's wet, and that sounds a little like "white".

I wonder when they will get around to saying that snow is racist because it's white.

You would thing the trans "women" would have adopted Aretha's song as one of their anthems instead of complaining about it. After all, they insist they are.

I don't always comment but I read all your dispatches, every day and do enjoy them. I'm afraid my mind is about completely saturated wiith Bidenism tho. I think we need to spend all our energies, trying to make sure this man isn't re-elected tho. I voted for President Trump (as m any times as I legally could do) but am not sure if he's the man for the next election) and would vote for him again if he's nominated - but I believe he's got to beat Gov, DeSantis badly to run.
