Is the media rediscovering journalism?!?
Are some “mainstream” media outlets finally rediscovering journalism and reporting reality instead of DNC talking points? Or do they see the handwriting on the wall (it reads, “Let’s go, Brandon!”), and they’re trying to get out in front of the public repudiation of the Democrats’ massive failures? Or maybe they’re just following the DNC’s orders to grease the skids to remove Biden.
Whatever the motivation, CNN, which would rush to the window to check the weather every time Trump said “Good morning” to see if they could accuse him of lying, has turned a hearing-impaired ear to Biden’s whoppers for two years. Now, suddenly, on the brink of what could be a red wave election, they actually did a Biden fact-check and had to cram nine major lies into one story.
The New York Times also dared to run a story on Biden’s “gaffes” that have become noticeably worse. Leftists are raging at the paper for committing journalism and telling readers the truth instead of what they’re used to getting. They also accused Times writer Maggie Haberman of “trying to destroy us” and being a paid agent of Vladimir Putin just for tweeting the story.
And it's not just Biden: MSNBC shocked viewers when an interviewer told New York Gov. Kathy Hochul that widespread complaints about crime are not a “conspiracy,” they’re happening because stores are being looted by shoplifters and people are afraid to go on the subway anymore.
And the new Elon Musk-owned Twitter actually allowed a fact-check to correct a false Biden White House boast about raising Social Security payments (the truth: it’s an automatic cost of living increase that’s been mandated by law since the 1970s, and it’s only unusually large because of the high inflation under Biden.)
BONUS: The White House deleted the tweet, and now the watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust is demanding all the records on that decision because deleting tweets from the official White House account is illegal destruction of a public record. Wonder if the leftists are starting to see the folly of making a federal case out of every little thing Trump did? (Note: I could find this story reported on only two conservative sites, while it would have gotten wall-to-wall coverage if it were Trump.)
But of course: NY Times runs hit piece against Gov. Ron DeSantis ahead of the election
Wow, this is a relief! I was afraid for a minute that the New York Times had actually become a newspaper again. But they couldn’t resist running a hit piece on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that reached back years to make questionable accusations about him with no verification, or that were undermined by quotes in their own article, or in one case that were backed by an alleged old video of DeSantis that was actually an old parody video made by students and it wasn’t even his voice on it.
Why do we allow the New York Times to undermine our democracy by spreading dangerous misinformation?

Mike T, I don’t quite know how to say this, but you must have been reading someone else’s newsletter. We have made no comments about Paul Pelosi himself, preferring to leave the unverified reports about unusual behavior the night of the attack to esteemed outlets such as NBC News, which ended up deleting its own report for not being up to “NBC News reporting standards.” Our reporting standards are clearly higher.

If we can verify that their report reflected what was going on when the police arrived at the Pelosis’ door, we will, of course, report it as fact, whether NBC News chooses to or not. But we’ll leave speculation as to the relationship, if any, between Paul Pelosi and Depape to others who are more interested in spreading rumor. (You’ll recall that it was the FBI, with help from the Democrat media, that eagerly spread the unverified rumors about Trump contained in the Christopher Steele “dossier.” We don’t traffic in rumor.)
Until we can verify more, we continue to focus on what we know about the crazy hammer-wielder, whom the leftist media have tried very hard to paint as a right-wing “domestic terrorist.” Of course, some of what’s been said about the hammer-wielder is unconfirmed as well. For example, even the report that he was saying “Where’s Nancy? Where’s Nancy?” --- so evocative of the January 6 riot --- has not, to our knowledge, been verified, so we will not report it as established fact. We’re skeptical because it’s just too conveeeeenient for those who want to play up January 6 ahead of the midterm election.
Here’s a history of what we’ve said about Paul and Nancy Pelosi since the morning of the incident:
On October 28, the day of the early-morning attack, we included this brief two-paragraph mention of the crime, to make a point about the worsening crime in San Francisco. Nothing about Paul or Nancy Pelosi personally at all:
“A home invader reportedly broke into Nancy Pelosi’s home, evading the security system. She wasn’t home, but he violently assaulted her husband Paul. The assailant is in custody. Paul Pelosi was taken to a hospital, and I am glad to be able to report that he is expected to make a full recovery.
“Maybe this will finally shock San Francisco voters into realizing that it’s time for their city to start making a full recovery from the people they’ve allowed to run it into the ground.”
On October 29, we justifiably ripped Hillary Clinton for “blaming Republican conspiracy theorists for the attack on Paul Pelosi.” We said truthfully that “there are a lot of confusing things about this incident that have yet to be explained, and initial reports that have been retracted, like the claim that the assailant was in his underwear when police arrived. There was also a claim that he ran two right-wing conspiracy websites, only it appears that those sites didn’t exist until Friday and were taken down by Saturday. Sounds like someone is really working hard to make us believe this wackjob is a conservative.”
As you can see, we referenced the NBC News report but said it had been retracted. Again, we made the point that leftists are trying to paint this assailant as a right-winger. We said nothing about either Paul or Nancy Pelosi, choosing instead to talk about what we had learned about Depape. We did mention that Nancy Pelosi’s daughter had cheered when Sen. Rand Paul was assaulted by his neighbor, but that is true.
On November 1, we said this: “Update on the Paul Pelosi attacker: Police say he [the attacker] reportedly had a list of people who might have been intended future targets. Or maybe not. Personally, I would withhold judgment on anything about this hammer attack story until it’s nailed down, particularly since much of this linked update involves retracting claims that were previously reported.”
On November 3, in the context of Biden’s awful hate-mongering speech, we said this: “One difference between this speech and the last one was that Biden repeatedly cited the attack on Paul Pelosi as an example of the violence of “MAGA” rightwing extremists. There has been no evidence so far to tie the homeless drug addict who attacked Pelosi to any Republicans. Indeed, all indications are that he’s a leftist, including the fact that he was on hallucinogens.”
Again, nothing about Paul or Nancy Pelosi personally. The Governor said that he prayed Mr. Pelosi makes “a full and swift recovery.”
In yesterday’s Huckabee Sunday Standard, which features our top stories from the week, we re-posted this one: “San Francisco DA Decides Pelosi Attack “Politically Motivated.” The article is about just what it says and includes no comment about Paul and/or Nancy personally. It’s about the DA and the media. It does say this:
“Local news seemed protective of Paul Pelosi’s image. One reporter, caught on a hot mic talking to his producer on the phone about what he could include in his broadcast, was heard saying this: ‘Hey, so is this the dude that is a former nudist dude?’… ‘Yeah, okay, is it okay to say any of that stuff?”… “Nope?’
But that’s still about Depape and the way the news is reporting the story –- not about the Pelosis themselves. Depape was indeed a nudist, which in itself has nothing to do with either Paul or Nancy Pelosi, unless you know something we don’t.
The focus of our piece was the rush to falsely characterize this incident as being “politically motivated.” It had nothing whatsoever to do with Paul and Nancy Pelosi and their personal lives, which we know nothing about and consider to be their own business. I have personally looked through everything we’ve said about this case, and our stellar reputation as fact-checkers to the “fact”-checkers remains intact.
In other words, we have absolutely NOTHING to apologize to the Pelosis for. And we continue to wish Paul Pelosi a rapid and complete recovery.

Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman was speaking at an outdoor rally with a lot of American flags set up behind him. Just as he was praising Barack Obama for having a “100% sedition-free” Administration, the wind (or as I like to think of it, “God’s breath”) sent all the flags toppling over at once.

Fetterman also gave Democrats an inadvertent lesson in why it’s not a good idea to send someone with cognitive problems to represent your views in the Senate when he declared to his pro-abortion followers, “I run on Roe v. Wade. I celebrate the demise of Roe v. Wade.”
So, finally, something I agree with John Fetterman about.
“Nonexistent” Voter Fraud Update
A Loxahatchee, Florida, woman who is a registered Democrat has been charged with two felony counts for allegedly voting absentee in Alaska in 2020 and in person in Florida.
The same Florida voter fraud office has also charged 20 other people for voting illegally in 2020. In signing the election watchdog agency into law, Gov. DeSantis said this will “send a clear signal to those who are thinking about ballot harvesting or fraudulently voting. If you commit an elections crime, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Just these people’s luck that they did it in a red state where voter fraud is illegal.
Biden rallies for Hochul as criminals cheer
In a last-ditch attempt to help New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and a whole lot of career criminals keep their jobs, President Biden spoke at a rally in Yonkers Sunday, where he tried attacking her Republican rival Lee Zeldin as soft on crime because he sided with the NRA in opposing more gun control laws. Not sure how that will play with many New Yorkers who, thanks to the Democrats, will be completely defenseless if they lose their personal firearms.
Biden also continued baselessly blaming Republicans for a homeless drug addict attacking Paul Pelosi and lied, “There’s never been a time in my career where we’ve glorified violence based on a political basis.” I don’t think I have to list the countless times Democrats have invoked violent rhetoric, and sometimes even outright violence, against Republicans.
Does Biden not remember saying that he wished he could have gone to school with Trump so he could “beat the hell” out of him? (That’s a rhetorical question; I’m sure he doesn’t remember it.) Or how about a few weeks ago with his Nurembergesque speech labeling “MAGA Republicans” as a threat to democracy, a lie taken seriously by a growing number of violent, unhinged leftists, like the North Dakota Democrat who killed a teenager with his car because he thought he was a “Republican extremist,” or the thugs who viciously beat a Marco Rubio volunteer in Florida?
Biden never retracted that and last week, he doubled down on it. And it’s having an effect. In the latest instances of attacks on Republicans, a protester at a Hochul event had her sign taken away from her and was choked.
And in a disturbing act of political terrorism, a hazmat and bomb squad rushed to Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s office and a staffer was hospitalized as a precaution after a letter was opened that contained a threatening rant and a mysterious white powder.
Biden will not condemn this violence, which seems to be flowing in one direction (left to right), nor will he retract his incendiary rhetoric, or even stop using it. What it will take to end this is a return to policing and full and equal enforcement of the law. That’s not going to happen with Democrats in charge, but tomorrow might mark the turning point where civilization and the rule of law finally start to make a long-overdue comeback.
Biden’s verbal gaffes need battalions of news spinners working 24/7 to clean them up
Between squandering billions of dollars on the Metaverse and driving away conservative users, Facebook’s stock has plunged 70% this year. Word is that Facebook may follow Twitter’s lead and lay off thousands of employees as early as this Wednesday.
Where will all those dedicated leftist “fact-checkers” go? They should apply for jobs at the White House, where it takes battalions of news spinners working 24/7 to clean up President Biden’s verbal toxic spills. Just in the past three days, he infuriated Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia by saying, "We're gonna be shutting these (coal-powered electric) plants down all across America, and having wind and solar." His press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had quite a time trying to convince us that his words, which were said in front of a crowd on video, had somehow been “twisted.”
Barely had that crisis been spun before Biden was at it again in his Yonkers speech, where he yonked some patently false statements about guns, appeared to be startled by his shadow (one wag said that means six more weeks of inflation), and snapped at an anti-oil protester, “No more drilling. There is no more drilling. I haven’t formed any new drilling.”
This comes not long after he blamed high gas prices on greedy oil companies that aren’t drilling enough.
I always say that in Washington, a “gaffe” is when a politician slips up and accidentally tells the truth. All those Twitter and Facebook employees have plenty of experience in covering up the truth to protect Democrats and claiming it’s really a “fact-check,” so the White House seems like the perfect place for them.
