South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, under fire from conservatives for not signing a bill to ban transgender biological male athletes from competing in girls’ sports, has issued an executive order to that effect. In covering the story, CNN made the breathtaking claim that “it’s not possible to know a person’s gender identity at birth, and there is no consensus criteria for assigning sex at birth.”
Really? I believe there has been a consensus criteria for telling the sex of a newborn baby for thousands of years now. I would say this provides sufficient criteria for declaring that the “C” in CNN must stand for “Clueless.”
A Wacky Celebrity tweet

I normally don’t cover every wacky tweet from leftist celebrities because as newsworthiness goes, it’s like reporting that “Duck quacks.” But this one is so out-there that it’s gaining attention in the media. Former comedian Chelsea Handler tweeted, “So pathetic that there is a trial to prove that Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd when there is video of him doing so.”
Since all “progressivism” consists of bringing back terrible failed ideas of the past, from socialism to segregation to judging people by their skin color, I’m not surprised that “progressives” are now denouncing due process and jury trials and want to revive mob justice. To quote another deep-thinking TV star, Homer Simpson, “Celebrities: Is there anything they DON’T know?”
Apparently, some don’t know that we’re a nation of laws and that everyone is entitled to legal representation and a trial before a jury of their peers. But do they know what else is on video? The failed carjacking in which two black teenage girls caused the death of Uber Eats driver Mohammad Anwar. Liberal media outlets bent over backwards to ignore that story or try to soft-pedal it as an accident or claim that the girls just wanted to go “joyriding” (Juan Williams’ term.)
No, they used a taser to steal Anwar’s car, and when he refused to let go of the door, accelerated with him hanging out the door, then flipped the car, and he died. They’re charged with armed carjacking and felony murder.
Will any of the liberal media outlets or commentators who are trying to tacitly defend these girls suggest that we should dispense with a trial and just declare them guilty because, after all, there’s video of them doing it?
Former “Mandalorian” star Gina Carano is back in the news

Former “Madalorian” star Gina Carano, who was fired by Disney for her non-PC social media posts, was falsely accused of being a Nazi and “hanging with white supremacists” by former North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp on Bill Maher’s show. Maher tried to get Heitkamp to rein it in, and she even admitted that “I suppose I’m now subject to defamation.” Yes, and Carano hinted that she might be considering calling her lawyer.
What’s especially bizarre about this is that, as even Bill Maher pointed out, Carano’s “controversial” tweet was a warning about the way the Nazis began their horrors by stirring up hatred and violence against the Jews. So leftists will now call you a Nazi for condemning Nazis. I think “Nazi” must be yet another word that they’ve thrown around so cavalierly that they’ve forgotten what it even means.

It’s been hard to keep up with all the accusations against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, but just to catch up: a ninth woman has accused him of sexual impropriety and he’s been accused of prioritizing COVID testing to favor his political allies and family members, including his brother, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo. Details at the link.
I figured I’d better mention something about all this, in case your only other source of news is CNN, in which case you might never have heard any of it.
More grounds for impeaching Cuomo

New Yorkers hardly need more grounds for impeaching Gov. Andrew Cuomo, but as long as they’re piling up, how about the way he’s forcing two upstate counties to institute police reforms designed by a panel that includes a cop-killer who spent 39 years in prison for murdering a police officer execution-style?
Iowa House Race Update

Iowa Democrat Rita Hart has abandoned her push to get Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats to give her the seat won by her Republican opponent Marriannette Miller-Meeks by six votes.
The election had already gone through recounts and been certified by a bipartisan panel of Iowa officials, but Hart claimed she’d found 22 votes that hadn’t been counted. Pelosi angered a lot of people by claiming she had the power to decide who would be seated in the House (rather than those peons, the voters.) That PR blunder and the fact that Democrats have been tarring anyone who questioned the Presidential election results as a treasonous insurrectionist made some House Democrats skittish about overturning a certified election and stealing a House seat in broad daylight.
So that seat will remain in GOP hands until 2022, when I sincerely hope it will be joined by at least 300 more.
