Add New York Democrat Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand to the list of powerful people calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign. This after a seventh woman came forward to make sexual harassment allegations against him. Cuomo is still refusing to consider quitting.
In a joint statement, the two Senators said, “Due to the multiple, credible sexual harassment and misconduct allegations, it is clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the confidence of his governing partners and the people of New York. Governor Cuomo should resign.”
Other big name Democrats who’ve called on him to resign for the same reason include Reps. Jerry Nadler and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Considering that the sexual harassment allegations are still just allegations that have yet to be verified, but we know for certain that he forced nursing homes to take in COVID patients, leading to thousands of deaths of elderly residents that were undercounted in order to cover up and dodge a DOJ investigation, it would have been nice if they’d mentioned that slight bit of misconduct, too. But Democrats will be Democrats, and these are their priorities.
In a stunningly ironic twist, Cuomo blamed “cancel culture” and “politics” for the calls for his resignation, which he refused to heed, and insisted he’s telling the truth. Click the link to see how this differs greatly from what he said when then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was hit with sexual abuse allegations that were far less credible.
