Journalist target of armed FBI raid has disappeared
Much of what we see going on at the FBI is no longer a mystery. It’s more of a tragedy. We know what they’re up to, and it smells of dirty politics.
But there’s currently a mystery involving the FBI that’s a lot harder to figure out. ROLLING STONE broke the story; we wanted to link to it but kept getting a screen saying the server was down. In case it’s back up, here’s that link.

Fortunately, other outlets have picked up the story. To summarize, on April 27 of this year, the FBI swept in and conducted a heavily-armed raid on the Arlington, Virginia, sixth-floor penthouse apartment of ABC producer and Emmy award-winning investigative journalist James Gordon Meek, who'd lived there for over a decade. It was hit-and-run style; agents reportedly took off quickly after they found what they wanted, not sticking around to answer any questions. (None of the stories we found had any information on where Meek was at the time of the raid.) Agents told ROLLING STONE simply that this was a “court-authorized law enforcement activity.” Neighbors told the publication that ever since the raid, Meek has not been sighted and his apartment looks empty. The man seems to be missing.
A representative for ABC News was unhelpful to reporters, saying only that Meek “resigned very abruptly and hasn’t worked for us in months.” An unnamed co-worker said Meek had “dropped off the face of the Earth. And people asked, but no one knew the answer.”
ROLLING STONE reported that classified information was found on Meek’s laptop, which the FBI apparently seized. But Meek’s attorney told THE INDEPENDENT that “if such documents exist...this would be within the scope of his long career as an independent journalist covering government wrongdoing. The allegations...are troubling for a different reason: They appear to come from a source inside the government.”
“It is highly inappropriate, and illegal, for individuals in the government to leak information about an ongoing investigation,” the attorney said. “We hope that the [Department of Justice] promptly investigates the source of this leak.” I’m sure they’ll get right on that.

According to the NEW YORK POST, Meek sent his last tweet on April 27. It was just one word: “Facts,” along with a re-tweet of a cryptic post about the Russian invasion of Ukraine from “Marc Polymeropoulos,” saying, “Actually, it started a long time ago...we learned this between 2014-2022. Not just now. It was an 8 year lab experiment on Russian TTPs. On EW. On everything. This is why Ukrainians (with our advise/assist) r doing so well. Ask those in IC and UW communities. We learned a sh-- ton.”
(NOTE: We looked it up –- “TTP” likely refers to a rare, deadly blood clotting disorder. “EW” is electronic warfare, with directed electromagnetic energy. "IC," of course, is the intel community. "UW" might refer to unconventional warfare.)
The POST reports that the search warrant on Meek’s apartment was approved by a federal magistrate judge (editorial aside: another magistrate!) in the Virginia Eastern District Court.
Meek was also slated for a book release for Simon & Schuster with co-author Lt. Col Scott Mann, a retired Green Beret. It tells Mann’s story of evacuating 500 Afghans during President Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal.
But here’s the kicker: Meek’s name and photo have been scrapped from the book and all press materials since the FBI raid. What the what?
Mann told ROLLING STONE: “He contacted me in the spring and was really distraught, and told me that he had some serious personal issues going on and that he needed to withdraw from the project. As a guy who’s a combat veteran who has seen that kind of strain –- I don’t know what it was –- I honored it. And he went on his way, and I continued with the project.”
Kicker #2: As of a policy change last year, federal authorities are not supposed to seize a journalist’s records without getting permission from the U.S. deputy attorney general, the second-in-command at the DOJ? Do you recall who that is? It's former Obama attorney Lisa Monaco, whom we have speculated is the real power at the ‘Justice’ Department.
BREITBART reports that as a journalist, Meek, 52, has broken “multiple high-profile stories about national security and terrorism.” So there’s no telling what he might have had on his laptop. Meek produced the Hulu documentary 3212 UN-REDACTED, about a 2017 ambush by ISIS in Niger that left four Green Berets dead. “3212” refers to that Special Forces unit.
On Wednesday, FOX NEWS’ Tucker Carlson did a brief segment on this story, with Trace Gallagher presenting the few facts we know and adding his personal perspective. He recalled from when he covered the story Green Berets story that after the four lost their lives, the Pentagon “kept giving the families of the fallen soldiers different versions of what happened.” He said that “the Pentagon finally blamed the Special Forces, for embarking on a rogue mission. Here’s that story as reported by the NEW YORK POST in 2018; they said the internal report “falls short” of actually blaming them, saying there was “no single point of failure.”

Meek was also part of the Emmy-award-winning team that produced a documentary about the 2016 Orlando nightclub massacre.
Gallagher said that another ABC journalist who helped with the Hulu documentary, “also inexplicably left the network a few months before James Meek disappeared.” More as this strange story develops.

In other FBI news, the fallout from the Danchenko verdict continues, and we’ll keep updating. Here’s a delightful story that shows how clueless leftists are when it comes to reading the public. Bid-deal Democrat Scott Dworkin thought he’d spark outrage by posting undercover video of GOP Rep. Dave Schweikert talking about breaking up the FBI and impeaching Biden if (when!) Republicans take over the House. As you’ll see here, it had just the opposite effect. Instead of being outraged, people are tweeting, “How do I vote for Schweikert twice?” and “Where do I donate to his campaign?” Gotta love it.
John Solomon has an analysis of the Danchenko case and verdict, saying one reason Danchenko might have walked is because Special Counsel John Durham’s bombshells –- which Solomon lists –- were dropped, by design, on the FBI and DOJ, who were his real target.
Finally, you might have already heard about the FBI’s sudden targeting of the election integrity organization True The Vote. This shocking development is part of an extremely complex story that we’ve been holding off talking about for a few days while sorting it out. It involves the arrest in Michigan of Eugene Yu, CEO of American election software company Konnech, (The LA County district attorney is asking that he be extradited to Los Angeles.) True The Vote apparently found out something shocking: that the CCP has the personal data of approximately 2 million American election workers. According to RASMUSSEN REPORTS, “the CCP likely has had the passwords to multiple U.S. election systems and devices FOR YEARS. What to do now?”
RASMUSSEN says, “The Konnech Chinese data hosting security issue was reported to the FBI by True The Vote in January 2021. The FBI ended up attacking True The Vote for identifying the issue which –- here in October 2022 – is entirely unresolved and denied by legacy media.”
This story does a good job of putting the disparate parts of this story together. We’ll have more soon, drawing no conclusions until we know more.

The NEW YORK POST story from earlier this month about Yu’s arrest doesn’t tie in True The Vote.

One complicating factor is that True The Vote is also being targeted by Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who claims they haven’t turned over the geolocation evidence of dropbox fraud that they promised to show. He’s calling their non-profit status into question, alerting the IRS and FBI. When a group like True The Vote is suddenly being targeted on all sides, one has to wonder if it’s all being coordinated from somewhere. Not saying it is, but have to consider the possibility.
At the same time, Brnovich has just announced the indictment of two individuals for their alleged involvement in a Yuma County ballot harvesting scheme.
Incidentally, AG Brnovich ran for the U.S. Senate from Arizona this year but was edged out in the primaries by Blake Masters, who faces incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly in a couple of weeks.
PM Liz Truss is out
I usually don’t talk about the internal affairs of the governments of other nations, but I must report that UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has resigned after less than two months amid criticism that she wasn’t up to the job and had created economic instability. I report this in hopes that President Biden will read it and take the hint.

A cautionary tale
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait until, say, just one-tenth of the cars in California are Democrat-mandated electric cars, and their batteries die in the traffic jams, and the entire state comes to a massive, gridlocked standstill, and the voters finally experience enough road rage to throw all the leftists out of office so the Golden State can start turning golden again.
It’s not like I haven’t been trying to warn them. But it apparently hasn’t sunk in, so here’s yet another cautionary tale.

It’s about a Wyoming man who tried to drive his Nissan Leaf EV 178 miles from Cheyenne to Casper. That’s normally less than a 2-1/2 hour trip, but it took him 15 hours and was so difficult, it inspired him to write a book called “On the Trail: Electric Vehicle Advice and Anxiety.” That’s just what California drivers need: more anxiety.
Kari Lake takes opponent and the media apart
Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has had enough of her opponent and the media calling her an “election denier.” She took them apart with a blistering response based on one of their own precious “Rules for Radicals”: make your opponent live up to his own standards. In this case, that meant demanding to know whether they were going to brand various prominent Democrats as “election deniers,” and yes, she came armed with a list, from Hillary Clinton to Stacey Abrams (I'd throw in the chairman of the House January 6th Kommittee, who didn't think trying to block an election was treasonous when he did it in 2016.)
And in a seismic political story, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who just quit the Democratic Party, endorsed Republican Kari Lake for Arizona Governor and called her “a rock star.”

Gabbard said Lake is "a leader who puts people first, is fighting for border security, energy independence, public safety, and other policies that actually make life better and more affordable for the American people,” and she "isn’t afraid to call out the warmongering elitist cabal of permanent Washington and the Military Industrial Complex, and their propagandists in the mainstream media...I look forward to supporting [Lake] ahead of these critical midterm elections."

Rep. Gabbard hasn't joined the GOP, she’s just made it clear that she and everyone like her have been abandoned by the Democrats. I’ll talk about this with her this weekend, when she’ll be my guest on “Huckabee” on TBN.
Good idea
This article makes a good case that the first order of business for the GOP Congress should be to subpoena the January 6th Kommittee members.
