BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
Pretty Much My Take As Well
By Mike Huckabee
Sen. Ted Cruz’s Cancun trip was an unforced error and bad optics. But the media’s obsession with it while practically ignoring the growing scandal over New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s alleged thuggish tactics to cover up a cover-up of a policy that reportedly killed thousands of nursing home residents is the very definition of wearing partisan blinders.
Update On The Texas Storm
By “Huckabee” writer Pat Reeder
My wife/co-writer Laura Ainsworth and I live in the DFW mid-cities, so we went through the recent snow/ice/power outages. I’ve already written about that; it was rough, but others had it far worse than us. We had brief periods of power and long outages for several days, but the juice came back on Wednesday and has stayed on. It’s expected to be restored statewide by today. Some people still have no running water, either because of problems with their local water sources or, mostly, pipes freezing and bursting in their homes.
As angry as people are at the power companies, and I am, too, that was a historic winter storm, and it would be pretty odd if they were fully prepared for it. Austin hasn’t seen that much snow since 1949. I’m a native Texan and have spent most of my life here, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen temperatures near zero until now. By tomorrow, the high here is supposed to be back to 62 degrees F. It was an extreme and catastrophic situation, and while the system wasn’t designed to handle it, a lot of people worked very hard under dangerous weather conditions to get the power back on, and they deserve thanks.
Everyone wants an investigation to see what mistakes were made, to hold the executives at ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) accountable if that’s warranted, and ensure the problems never recur. But I hope everyone is as disgusted by the politicizing of this as I am.
No, this does not mean that we are dumb hicks and science deniers who voted for evil Republicans who don’t care about people freezing. It certainly doesn’t mean that we should elect “Beto” O’Rourke as our Governor (I was appalled at the idea of anyone thinking that doofus should represent the Lone Star State in the Senate when he doesn’t even have the sense to keep his dirty shoes off a dining counter.) One former “Star Trek” actress whom I shall charitably leave unnamed tweeted that while she feels bad for those freezing Texans, she implied that we deserve it for not voting like Californians do.
Reality check: I’ve been reading and writing about the news for a living for over 25 years, and I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve had to write about California blackouts and brownouts. Just like that state’s wildfires, homelessness, illegal immigration, water shortages, unaffordable housing and other issues, they are caused by governmental incompetence and idiotic policies, and they go on year after year after year, with NOTHING getting done to fix them.
Meanwhile, in Texas, we had power outages because we were blindsided by an unpredictable, historic weather event, and six days later, power is already restored. And did you ever stop to think that one reason there is so much stress on our energy grid is that so many people and businesses are fleeing here from blue states like California?
So no, thank you: I’m not interested in exchanging Gov. Greg Abbott for “Beto.” And please don’t send us Gavin Newsom; we don’t want that idiot, either.
If you’d like some more background on what happened here in Texas and why, and how much “green” energy sources had to do with it, here are a couple of good articles from Bryan Preston at PJ Media.
Parents Are Fed Up
By Mike Huckabee
Nothing says, “Public schools are essential and deserve more money” like a leaked video of a local California school board’s online chat in which parents are mocked, cursed, threatened and insulted for wanting schools reopened; teachers are referred to as “babysitters;” and it’s suggested that parents just want their kids gone so they can sit home and smoke pot.
One angry mom said, “I thought the board members were also advocates for my child and had her best interests at heart. After last night’s incident, it really has me thinking that they don’t.”
I’m glad that parents are finally getting fed up with never-ending school closures for no good scientific reason. But I have to assume that if you thought California school boards had the best interest of your child at heart, you never asked that child, “What did they teach you about American history today?”

"Woke" Literature Teachers Want To Cancel Shakespeare
By Mike Huckabee
In a related story, a group of “woke” literature teachers want to “cancel” William Shakespeare because he’s an old, dead, white male who wrote racist and misogynistic plays. “Hamlet,” “MacBeth,” “Romeo and Juliet” and other classics that have survived for centuries should be shunted aside to “make room for modern, diverse, and inclusive voices.”
It’s an idea so idiotic that even the Washington Post is against it.
Personally, though, I can’t wait to see the modern authors whose works they think have contributed more to society than Shakespeare. They may say, “Good riddance,” but for goodness sake, I shall wait with 'bated breath and my heart on my sleeve for this brave new world of literature. Although personally, these woke idiots set my teeth on edge. In my heart of hearts, I think they are a laughing stock. While it’s cold comfort now, I believe it’s a foregone conclusion that they will be hoist with their old petard and this woke insanity will eventually be dead as a doornail.
AOC Calls For Full Investigation Of Cuomo
By Mike Huckabee
Latest sign that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has gone beyond the point of being useful to the Democratic Party: Even AOC wants him investigated…
And Alec Baldwin says if the claims about his bullying to cover up nursing home COVID deaths are true, he should resign…
He hasn’t quite been thrown under the bus yet, but he’d better brace himself. Those Goodyears are heading his way.
One More Reason To Love Dolly Parton
By Mike Huckabee
I love Dolly Parton’s music, and having visited with her on my show, I love her as a human being, too. Her charity work, from providing poor children with books to supporting her hometown, is legendary. And now, here’s one more reason to love her.
ICYMI: “Think Before Pressing Enter” Dept
By Mike Huckabee
A writer for the liberal site the Daily Beast was razzed for tweeting criticism of Tucker Carlson for putting “googly eyes” on a photo of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Uh, dude?...Those are AOC’s actual eyes. Some of the responses will make you laugh until your eyes pop.
Lucky for him, the real AOC was too busy to care, since she was dealing with the response to her own dumb tweet:
“The infrastructure failures in Texas are quite literally what happens when you *don’t* pursue a Green New Deal.”
As was loudly pointed out to her, the power outages in Texas were a direct result of transitioning from oil and gas to getting 25% of Texas energy from wind, and the wind turbines froze. This is so obvious and predictable that even if you couldn’t guess it was coming, you could look to Europe or California for previous tragic examples of what happens when government mandates replacing necessary, reliable forms of energy with unreliable, yet-developed “green sources,” as if the facts of physics can be changed by man’s laws.
If anything, the actual “climate crisis” in Texas gives us a horrible example of why nobody should ever mistake AOC for a scientist. And a reminder that the only reliable source of never-ending wind is Washington, DC.
