And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

1. Manchin gets our attention again
By Mike Huckabee
First, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema left the Democratic Party to become an Independent. Now, the other remaining Democrat swing vote, Joe Manchin, is saying things that suggest he might be thinking of a party switch as well. It would be ironic if Senate Democrat leaders finally clawed their way to a majority only to lose it because they were too obnoxious even for their own Senators to put up with.
2. Stop the spending
By Mike Huckabee
If you’re one of those people who likes to contact your Congress members to let them know what you think, then now would be a great time to let them know that you do NOT want them passing a giant omnibus spending bill larded with $16 billion worth of earmarks that takes control of spending away from the GOP House we just elected.
To the outgoing Congress: If you need to pass a bill to keep the government funded until the new Congress takes office, then do that. Stop trying to tie the hands of the next Congress by setting spending in stone until next September. There’s a reason so many Americans voted to put them in office instead of you.
3. Note on Arizona
By Mike Huckabee
The judge has called an emergency hearing on Kari Lake’s lawsuit to overturn the Maricopa County election results. That’s coming later today, so we’ll have details on it tomorrow.
In the meantime, here’s a list of three glaring examples of illegal ballot harvesting that are crying out to be investigated and prosecuted. So why is nobody doing it, even in places run by Republicans?
Could it be that too many politicians would rather let our elections be hopelessly corrupted than do anything to stop it and risk being called an “election denier”?
4. 2024: Democrats move to change things up
By Mike Huckabee
The Democratic Party, at the obvious behest of President Biden, is trying to rearrange its primary schedule, making South Carolina the first to vote, ahead of the traditional first and second place votes in Iowa and New Hampshire. Needless to say, residents of the latter two states are not happy about this.
And it’s not just Democrats who are angry. The head of Iowa’s Republican Party blasted Biden for trying to throw off the parallel party primaries, calling it "an unserious alternative from an unserious president” and accusing the DNC and Biden of having “kicked off utter chaos.” Well, it’s what they do.
Some are saying, not unreasonably, that like everything the Democrats do these days, this is all about race. There are too many white people in Iowa and New Hampshire, but the black vote in South Carolina, rallied by Rep. Jim Clyburn, is what saved Biden’s bacon when he was floundering in 2020. Others accuse the Dems of wanting to cut out the voices and concerns of rural states, also a reasonable assumption.
But I suspect that’s only a part of it. The real issue is that in Iowa and New Hampshire, high profile endorsements and floods of TV ads don’t impress voters. People there take their place as “first in the nation” seriously and see it as their duty to vet would-be Presidents. In those states, candidates have to show up, meet the voters and answer their questions. It’s like the first round interview process for a new job, where the wheat gets separated from the chaff. When you look at it that way, it’s no wonder that in Biden’s three runs for President, he never made it past Iowa until 2020 (and even then, he came in fourth.)
It’s more likely that the real reason for this attempted upheaval is that Biden really does intend to run for reelection, and maybe he’s afraid he’d actually lose the Iowa Caucuses. But changing the whole primary system just to save Biden is a typically foolish decision for the DNC. They’re so invested in far left policies and racial divisiveness that they’ve lost sight of the fact that they need more than liberals and the black vote to win. They need candidates with wider appeal. By changing their primaries to help candidates who appeal only to a niche of their base, they make it more likely that they’ll choose a candidate who can win their primaries but not a general election. Ironically, that’s the exact same criticism they’re now aiming at Trump over his primary endorsements.
5. CNBC Poll: 57% of Democrats DON’T want Biden to run again
By Mike Huckabee
Speaking of Biden seeking reelection, no matter which state votes first, a new CNBC poll finds that most Americans would prefer him just to go to Delaware and eat ice cream permanently.
https://www.westernjournal.com/majority-democrats-give-joe-biden-early-christmas-gift-will-hate/
Fifty-seven percent of Democrats and 66% of Independents don’t want Biden to run for reelection. The poll also held bad news for Donald Trump, but not as bad as for Biden: 37% of Republicans and 61% of Independents don’t want Trump to run again. Only 20% of voters think Biden’s efforts to ease inflation are helping, while 28% think he’s making it worse. Also, 58% of voters believe Biden should receive at least a cognitive test, and fewer than 25% strongly believe that he’s mentally fit, healthy, and stable. Better not tell him that!
Well, to quote a great Republican President, you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
6. A style note
By Mike Huckabee
This newsletter makes no pretense of following the Associated Press guidelines for “journalism.” We’re far too honest and objective for that. Consequently, we will not be doing any Orwellian rewrites of the language to frame the pro-abortion view as positive or neutral and the pro-life view as negative (and yes, we will still use the term “pro-life.”)
Most of all, we will not go along with the A.P.’s decision to pretend that there is no such thing as a “late term abortion,” even as the pro-abortion faction is pushing to legalize murdering children in the womb right up until the moment of birth.
We will also continue to use the terms “murder” and “children” when referring to the murder of children in the womb, no matter how much that might offend the A.P. That is all.
