Correction: UPDATE: Why Dems want to destroy Trump
By Mike Huckabee
Yesterday, we mistakenly did not include the Vernon Jones interview link. Updated below.
On Friday, we brought you an interview in NEW YORK magazine with Democrat pollster David Shur that pinpointed the danger Donald Trump poses to the Democrat Party.
In a nutshell, Trump was able to persuade a significant minority of blacks, Hispanics and Asian-Americans, disenchanted with the far-left ideology taking over the Democrat Party, that they would feel very much at home with the Republicans. The racial groups traditionally taken for granted by the left actually swing more to the right on major issues, and in 2020, ideology in many cases "trumped" race. What a wonderful thing.
Today, we bring you "Exhibit A," in the form of an interview with former Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones, a lifelong Democrat who recently became a Republican and Trump supporter and who has formed an organization called Wake Up America. While at CPAC recently, he sat down for an interview on the podcast "American Thought Leaders," presented by THE EPOCH TIMES, and told of his experience as a conservative black man in politics and why he became a Republican. His observations are brilliantly and simply stated and touch on numerous aspects of politics and culture today.
The interview runs under the title, "My Party Left Me." Subhead: "'They don't control me' --- Vernon Jones on confronting cancel culture and leaving the Democratic Party." As the title alone tells you, Jones personifies the nightmare faced by leftists as they realize President Trump has convinced many non-whites to vote according to their ideology and not their race. This is an absolute must-watch (and/or must-read, as a transcript of the interview is also included). It's Jones and people like him who give us hope for the future.
Must-Read

This remarkably insightful letter from a mom to her teenage son who thinks he's"trans" - but she knows him well enough to understand that he's just "weird" and too easily influenced, but she loves him the way he is - was deleted from Medium.com for being "hate speech."
It is not. It's the exact opposite. It's the loving speech a lot more confused kids need to hear before they let politically-motivated activists destroy their lives and health with dangerous and irreversible hormones and surgery.

Senate Update
By Mike Huckabee
This weekend, the Senate is debating the Democrat’s $1.9 trillion “COVID-19 relief” bill, which by some reports spends as little as 9% of that amount actually fighting COVID. Here’s how it’s going so far:
Eight Democrats joined Republicans in killing the attempt to use the bill to nearly double the minimum wage to $15 an hour. The Senate Parliamentarian already ruled that you can’t use a budget reconciliation measure that requires only 51 votes with no filibuster option to pass a piece of major legislation like that, and several studies by economic experts warn that it would destroy many small businesses and kill hundreds of thousands of low-skilled jobs, which I kind of thought was contrary to the point of a bill meant to stimulate the economy. Naturally, Sen. Bernie Sanders disagrees with the Parliamentarian and all of those economic experts.
Note: Bernie Sanders has never run a business in his life and was working odd jobs before getting into government. He’s now worth over $2 million and owns three houses. Socialism has been very, very good to him. But like all socialists, he thinks he knows how to run everyone else’s businesses better than anyone who’s ever actually run a business.
The Democrats did reach a deal with moderate Democrat Joe Manchin to extend additional unemployment benefits of $300 a week (rather than $400, which is in the House bill) through September 6th instead of late August, and make the first $10,600 in benefits nontaxable. The problem with increased and extended unemployment benefits is that they can undermine getting the economy moving when people are paid more not to work than they would make if they took jobs. This is another thing Bernie doesn’t seem to understand.
Republican Sen. Ron Johnson made good on his threat to deny unanimous consent to dispense with the reading of the bill, and forced the Senate to spend 10 hours reading the entire 661-page bill out loud. It was depicted as a vindictive protest just meant to slow down a bill the Republicans couldn’t stop.
But I want to know what’s wrong with actually reading a bill before you blow nearly $2 trillion of the taxpayers’ money on it (actually, future taxpayers’ money, since it will all be heaped onto the national debt)? Of course, the Democrats didn’t actually stick around to listen to it. Some were out looking for TV cameras, so they could make the outrageous charge that Johnson was responsible for the 1400 people (on average) who would die of COVID during that delay. As if 1400 people would have been saved if it had passed 10 hours sooner, considering how little funding in it actually goes to stopping COVID.
For that matter, is Nancy Pelosi personally responsible for all COVID deaths related to her holding up a bill that could have passed months ago, if she hadn’t been delaying it until after the election? Is President Biden personally responsible for the 100,000+ COVID death since he’s taken office? They both blamed Trump for every death under his watch, so why aren’t they responsible for every death under theirs?
Oh, I’m sorry: I was doing something that’s not allowed in Washington: holding Democrats to the same impossible standard that they hold Republicans to.
Misplaced Responsibility
By Mike Huckabee
Speaking of misplacing responsibility, Biden’s spokesperson won’t even give credit to Trump for the vaccine he helped create while Biden was mocking his efforts. Here’s that story, along with a reminder of the truth, something Biden vowed that, unlike Trump, he would give the American people. He’s not even giving the people the truth about the vaccine and its rollout that he inherited from Trump.
Latest Outrage
By Mike Huckabee
Our latest outrageous story of someone being canceled for warning about cancel culture canceling people comes from Shelby County, Tennessee, of all places. I’d have hoped school officials there had more sense than they do in places like San Francisco, but they disappointed me by suspending high school principal Barton Thorne for saying something “triggering” to students. Here are his shocking words:
"I want you to understand the problem that's going to face you and your generation if there is no longer a marketplace, a free exchange of ideas." He went on to give them a completely accurate and unbiased history of attempts to suppress free thought, such as McCarthyism, and warned them that while nothing he was saying was controversial now, if someone came into power who didn’t like it, they could use today’s same “cancel culture” rationale to silence him for voicing these inoffensive truths.
He didn’t realize that there already was a group of people in power who would punish him for telling students inoffensive truths. He’s now suing the school district. At the link, Glenn Beck has more of what he said (everyone in America should hear his words, by the way) and an interview with his attorney.
At least one supporter is left
By Mike Huckabee
Republican Rep. Liz Cheney lost a lot of support among the GOP for her vote to impeach ex-President Trump, but at least she still has one supporter. You probably won’t be surprised at who it is.
One More Reason
By Mike Huckabee
Here’s one more reason why, around here, we feel we have to put the term “fact-checkers” in quotation marks.
It’s about the “U.S.-China Education Trust” (I think that deserves quotation marks, too), a group described as having “collaborated with Chinese Communist Party propaganda fronts and trained journalists from state-run media outlets,” and which in 2012 had as its Journalist in Residence, Bill Adair, founder and contributing editor of Politifact, one of the left’s favorite “fact-checking” sources.
