The Democrats are so nervous about their upcoming convention in Chicago being a repeat of the riot-torn 1968 Convention that they are grasping at any straws to prevent it becoming a PR disaster.

The Secret Service is planning a far wider safety perimeter to keep pro-Hamas protesters away than they are for the GOP Convention, despite objections from the RNC. Some Democrats have suggested making it a “virtual convention,” as it was during the pandemic. That would have the added benefit of replacing a nerve-wracking live Biden speech with a Steven Spielberg-produced video, possibly with a CGI-created Biden. I would suggest getting the Biden robot from Disney’s Hall of Presidents, which would be more lifelike than the real thing.

But taking it even further, Minnesota Democrat Rep. Dean Phillips, who challenged Biden for the nomination this year, is calling for canceling the convention entirely to “focus on campaigning” instead.

Frankly, I don’t understand their attitude. They selected Chicago, a city that hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1931. Now, they’re worried that TV viewers will see their convention surrounded by anti-American, anti-Semitic leftist mobs, illegal aliens and violent criminals, going uncontrolled due to a Democratic socialist mayor who is sympathetic to them all.

I thought the idea of a convention was to sell America on the idea of putting your party in charge of the federal government. Then why are they so desperate to hide the effects of letting the Democrats run Chicago and the state and the nation it’s part of? If your policies are so great, why would you cancel your own convention rather than let us see how they’re actually working out?
