Hillary's right: there IS a different standard of 'justice' for her
To get your weekend off to a great start, Jonathan Turley has written a magnificent analysis of “The Clinton Standard” of ‘justice,’ saying that, yes, one exists, but it’s the opposite of what Hillary has been going around lately saying it is. What it really means is that Hillary is indeed held to a different standard of law and ethics –- but it's the same standard she holds for herself, which is to say, no real standard at all.
Turley brings up other Hillary scandals as well, though, of course, the list is so exhausting that he understandably doesn’t catch all of them. Or maybe it was simply necessary to do some editing, because if he’d discussed them all, his piece would have been the length of WAR AND PEACE. Hillary walked away from every one of them. And now, that’s not enough for her --- she has to rewrite history. In other words, lie like a rug.
In light of the weaponization of the legal system as currently directed against President Trump, it’s especially instructive to look at the very different way Hillary’s email scandal was handled, as well as how she’s lying about it now. She actually has the nerve to say she had “zero” classified material on her easily hackable –-- and, according to the FBI, hacked –- private, non-secure, at-home email server. Turley’s piece serves as a refresher if you don’t know the real story about that, but...I’ll bet you know it. To jog your memory further, here’s the text of then-FBI Director James Comey on July 5, 2016, outlining in detail what she did --- before weirdly dispensing with it and clearing the way for her upcoming nomination by announcing that “no reasonable prosecutor” would take the case.
Comey said that Hillary had “dozens of conversations on email about secret topics” and, he thought, “about eight on top-secret topics.” Yet he ludicrously maintained that this was not criminal behavior. Imagine what the DOJ and the media would be doing to Trump if he’d done THIS. Who needs proof of intent when it comes to Donald J. Trump? You can bet there would be big-time criminal charges, prosecuted with wild delight.
Worse, Hillary absolutely did have intent to set up the private-server arrangement as a way to keep out of the watchful eye of the Freedom Of Information Act. Why else would she have gone to all that trouble? There’s no telling what was in the 33,000 emails about “yoga and Chelsea’s wedding” that she wiped clean with BleachBit, or, as she once joked, “a cloth.” (She obviously enjoys joking about this, when other people’s lives have been ruined by the weaponization of the DOJ over so much less, or even ginned-up charges.) Recall that her staffers even physically destroyed electronic devices with hammers, but were given immunity in exchange for, well, nothing.
“Virtually everything” about Hillary’s claim now about her emails “is breathtakingly untrue,” Turley says.
He explains why it’s essential to keep official State Department emails on a SECURE GOVERNMENT SERVER: “There is no classification automatically stamped on text being typed out and sent within minutes. While attachments can have classification markings, the whole point of using secure servers is that emails are created in the moment with inevitable slips in referencing classified material.” And Hillary’s emails DID have top-secret information tied to Special Access Programs, which intel officials have described as the highest level of classification.
Turley also reminds us that even though Hillary’s lack of cooperation greatly delayed any investigation into her possession of classified material, no raid of her home took place, let alone any charges. And recall that Comey seemed so eager to exonerate her and wash his hands of the whole thing, he drafted his “no reasonable prosecutor” speech before he’d even been able to interview those recalcitrant key witnesses. Some former FBI agents were highly critical of Comey for doing this at the time, especially for the fact that he even prematurely circulated the draft among agency staff, setting the direction of the investigation before it was over.
Sister Toldjah at REDSTATE suggests we all say a little prayer for Jonathan Turley’s safety now that he's dared to correct Hillary’s revisionist ploy and expose her for the liar she is. Hey, it couldn’t hurt. Come to think of it, you might add one for us, too.
Elizabeth the Queen
By Colonel Ken Allard
NOTE: Colonel Allard is the author of Command, Control and the Common Defense, winner of the 1991 National Security Book Award. After leaving active duty, he became an on-air military analyst for the networks of NBC News
Queen Elizabeth was everything that exemplified the best of Great Britain and the Commonwealth, a rarefied sense of human decency that already seems like an archetype from an earlier age. Was it really possible that her extraordinary reign extended from the 1950’s until…just yesterday?
Was it also possible that her first Prime Minister was Winston Churchill, already an Arthurian legend when she first learned to wear the crown? Even her youth became a rallying-point as Britain soldiered on through the grim years of postwar austerity. When a new Cold War demanded the creation and development of NATO, she seemed to embody the ideal that free people might stand together to preserve the peace. Setting aside antiquated imperial legacies while building new institutions was a bold move that seems even more timely given current events. After all, those bold initiatives succeeded in preserving Central European peace for a half-century – until Vladimir Putin unleashed the old demons of Soviet imperialism by pillaging proudly independent Ukraine.
Her Elizabethan Era also included the toughest days of the Cold War, when the counsels of appeasement were heard once again, the peace signs and “no-nukes” siren-songs calling for Western disarmament despite Soviet military might. As Queen, she knew better than to interfere with strategic and military decisions best left to her ministers. But consider carefully the extraordinary assemblage of Western intellectual and moral authority represented by Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and Pope John-Paul. How can any impartial observer fail to add Queen Elizabeth to that august group? In light of Putin’s latest challenges, how can the Queen be seen as anything less than a seven-decade linchpin in the collective defense of western civilization?
Meeting Prince Philip
Now approaching my 75th year, I was only a small boy in 1953 when the first tapes of Elizabeth’s coronation were flown across the Atlantic, hurriedly re-broadcast from Boston to a national audience with fresh memories of wartime allies. All my cousins were gathered around a large television set with a tiny back-and-white screen, listening carefully as our parents, uncles and grand-parents explained this strange English ceremony. More often than not, they included personal stories of neighbors, friends and relatives for whom England was a combat zone from which they never returned.
Such was my introduction to that mystical relationship between the British people, their political and social systems together with the monarchy that somehow seems to unite that entire remarkable family. Make no mistake: because it is a family, somehow enlivened and diversified during Elizabeth’s reign into an even larger commonwealth of nations, sharing languages, customs and traditions, if not DNA. In coming days, I expect to revisit three favorite movies that best depict those intriguing relationships: The Queen, starring the marvelous Helen Mirren; The King’s Speech, in which Colin Firth channels King George VI; and, best of all, Chariots of Fire, the inspiring true story of British athletes in the 1924 Olympics.
All are true stories, the portraits of Queen Elizabeth and King George VI rising to the level of big-screen magic. Helen Mirren and Colin Firth provide unforgettable portraits of people – important people but people nonetheless – forced to confront circumstances and challenges for which royal privilege provided only partial answers. How could they (or any one of us) reach deep into their souls at life’s most critical moments - what Germans call the Schwerpunkt? How much of King George’s DNA, especially his toughness and determination, was passed intact to his daughter Elizabeth, sustainment throughout her phenomenal seventy-year reign?
Chariots of Fire is my favorite all-time movie because it asks the toughest questions about our most critical relationships. What do we owe each other as brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, leaders and led, countrymen and citizens? Most important, what do we owe to God, whether we walk the earth as kings, queens or commoners? The heart of the story focuses on Eric Liddell, a world-class sprinter forced to choose between an Olympic Gold Medal and the God who reserves the Sabbath for worship, not athletic competition. I first heard his story during my junior year abroad at the University of Edinburgh, which still reveres the Scottish hero who faithfully served his God as a humble missionary to China long after Olympic glories had faded.
Eric Liddell never returned from his wartime combat mission either, a shared tradition of service and self-sacrifice that will forever illuminate the extraordinary life of Queen Elizabeth II.
From the movie Chariots of Fire, this is Eric Liddell after winning the Gold Medal.
Democrats are desperate
We’re 60 days away from the midterm elections, and the Democrats are desperate to make us think that the only important issues are abortion rights and stopping the terrible threat to democracy posed by Donald Trump’s document storage closet and all those dangerous fascist working people in red “Make America Great Again” caps. Fortunately, Kevin Downey Jr. of PJ Media is here to remind us of what this election is really about: the Democrats’ horrific policy failures that have resulted in record levels of murders, overdose deaths and teen suicides.
Must-See Video
This went viral after Biden’s Nuremberg-style speech denouncing half the country as fascist threats to democracy for opposing his policies. It’s an inspiring video uploaded to the Internet by African immigrant Alma Ohene-Opare, explaining to Biden why he is a patriotic MAGA Republican, what that really means, and what Biden should be doing instead of demonizing and defaming millions of his fellow Americans.
If Biden ever wants his approval rating to inch above 40% again, he should fire everyone who’s advising him and hire this man instead.
What was misinformation?!?
Remember last year, when we first started hearing reports of young males suffering myocarditis, or heart inflammation, after receiving COVID vaccines? It was branded as dangerous misinformation and anyone talking about it was censored from the Internet.
Well, now the CDC admits that there might be something to that after all…
I wonder how long it would have taken them to admit what the scientific data shows if the attempt to silence anything branded as “misinformation” had actually been successful.
10 on the "Creep Meter"
Just when you think that today’s “educators” can’t make their sexual grooming of children even more blatant and disgusting, they find a new way to dig a little deeper into the muck. Warning, this is a 10 on the “creep meter.”
South Carolina Senate update
The Democratic candidate for Senate in South Carolina, state Rep. Krystle Matthews, was caught on hidden camera by Project Veritas saying some things about her white constituents that are so racist and offensive that two other leading Democratic candidates are calling on her to drop out of the race.
https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2022/09/09/krystle-matthews-project-veritas-n2612865
Project Veritas previously released a video of Matthews endorsing the ideas of Democrats taking drug money as donations, stealing opponents’ campaign signs and lying about their views to run as Republicans and fool the voters. In her response, Matthews chose the typical tactic of attacking Project Veritas, calling it a “satirical MAGA-powered news outlet.” And yet, they released her own words on video – you know, like real journalists. Remember those?
She also demanded that they release the entire conversation, to put her comments in context. I’m fine with that. I’d love to hear the context that makes those comments okay.
BS
Former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki announced that her upcoming MSNBC show will be built around her passion for “explaining things, debunking things, calling out BS.”
https://www.westernjournal.
That’s right: to MSNBC, Jen Psaki is a “fact-checker!” Explains a lot about modern “fact-checking,” doesn’t it? At least all those leftists who are having meltdowns over CNN trying to return to being a legitimate news channel know that they can always turn to MSNBC when they want to C-BS.
Sorry to see
Sorry to see that the “trans” cancel culture has infested even Nashville and country music. Let’s hope it backfires big time with the fans.
