BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
The Fight Against Big Tech Grows
By Mike Huckabee
As leftist-run Big Tech companies and the Democrat-run federal government continue to trample Constitutional rights, individual states are increasingly stepping up to fight them. Latest example: Tyler O’Neil at PJ Media reports that Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is demanding that Amazon explain why it blocked Ryan T. Anderson’s book, “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment,” from being sold on Amazon.
Amazon claimed it doesn’t allow books that call LGBTQ+ issues mental disorders, but this book doesn’t do that. It’s a scholarly and scientific examination of the transgender movement, critical but in no way hateful. Noting that Amazon continues to allow Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and “The Communist Manifesto” to be sold, Rokita added, “I also ask that you inform me of any statements by Amazon that inform consumers that Amazon makes decisions whether to offer certain products based on considerations of ideology.”
This comes two days after Anderson wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal urging some “enterprising state attorney general” to exercise the authority “to investigate Amazon’s conduct to learn whether the company is abusing its vast market power, doing so in a patently dishonest and deceptive way, or otherwise violating state consumer-protection and antitrust laws.”
So, one state attorney general down, and 49 more to go. How many will Amazon need to hear from before they decide that it’s better to let their customers decide what they want to read?
Why The Grammy Awards Are Dying
By Mike Huckabee
This is a terrific article at American Greatness by musician Tal Bachman about why the Grammy Awards are dying (or more precisely, committing suicide by replacing celebrating musical excellence in all genres with promoting divisive leftist politics, pornographic performances, filthy language and unlistenable “music” from a tiny handful of pop/rap/hip-hop acts.)
Of course, the standard response is to say old fogies are just out of touch with what modern audiences want to see and hear. But the Grammy Awards have relegated almost all other forms of music to the untelevised afternoon ceremony on the pretext that primetime should be reserved for what the most people want to see, yet ratings cratered. They fell 53% from last year to an all-time low, by far. People really don’t want to see this, but they keep giving it to us anyway.
I suspect that many of the younger people they claim they’re appealing to are in their rooms, listening to their new vinyl copies of “Sergeant Pepper” on their Crosley Cruiser turntables.
Eight Women Accuse Cuomo Of Harassment
By Mike Huckabee
The calls for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign are reaching critical mass with an eighth woman coming forward to accuse him of sexual harassment.
President Biden is still reluctant to call on Cuomo to step aside, maybe because of the uncomfortable questions it would raise. Like, “Why him, but not you?”
Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Tom Reed, who is considering challenging Cuomo, is suddenly facing a sexual misconduct allegation, which he denies.
My view on all these is the same, regardless of party: the accusers should be given a respectful hearing and the accused should have the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. It’s due process 101. So by all means, investigate the sexual charges against Cuomo, but let’s not allow them to overshadow the deadly misconduct represented by his COVID-19 nursing home policy and cover-up.
I have a suspicion that some top Democrats who are calling on Cuomo to resign over the sexual allegations are secretly relieved to have some other excuse to get rid of him that won’t raise questions about the other blue state governors who also needlessly boosted COVID death numbers (blamed on Trump, of course) by forcing nursing homes to take in coronavirus patients. That’s a can of worms they’d rather leave unopened.
Tough Climb
By Mike Huckabee
President Biden slipped and fell three times while climbing the steps to Air Force One Friday. It was alarming, but Democrats are trying to brush it off by comparing it to President Gerald Ford tripping and falling on the jet’s steps in 1975. But there are three key differences (check the link for video of both):
1. Ford slipped on slick metal steps in a rainstorm while struggling to hold an umbrella over his wife. Biden tripped and fell on dry, carpeted steps.
2. Ford fell once, popped right up and went on. Biden fell once, then two more times.
3. Ford was ridiculed as a klutz forever after on “Saturday Night Live.” Anyone taking bets on “SNL” mocking Biden? By the way, I’m not saying they should, because this is sad, not funny. I’m just saying that even if it were funny, they’d still tell us it’s not.
As long as we’re looking back on past Presidents walking down ramps, here’s Joe Biden mocking Trump for walking down a slippery ramp slowly and bragging about how nimbly he runs up ramps. This incident sparked all kinds of mainstream media speculation at the time about Trump suffering health problems and why this “actually matters.” Can you imagine what they would’ve said if he’d fallen down three times?
Biden Suspends Or Drops Staffers Who Admitted Marijuana Use
By Mike Huckabee
I’ll bet this is the last thing all those young “progressives” who dreamed of working in the Biden White House expected: dozens of his staffers have been suspended, asked to resign or put in remote work programs over their prior marijuana use.
They revealed their pot use in their background checks, having been told it wouldn’t disqualify them from their positions. But like many voters, they made the fatal mistake of believing Biden’s promises. Even in states that have legalized pot, it’s still illegal on the federal level, so that means they admitted to a crime on their background checks. Bet they don’t think background checks are such a great idea now!
Of course, judging by the policies coming out of this White House, maybe they were suspended for smoking too much pot.
No word yet on whether Kamala Harris, who admitted to using pot during the campaign, will be removed from her job as President…sorry, Vice President…or whether Barack “Choom Gang” Obama will be barred from dropping by.
Critical Race Theory Passes In California
By Mike Huckabee
Despite widespread opposition from parents and serious academics, on Thursday, the California State Board of Education voted unanimously to pass ESMC, the California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum. That’s the Critical Race Theory curriculum that promotes anti-white racism and anti-Semitism, teaches kids that America is systemically racist and they’re either oppressed or oppressors based on their skin color, and encourages them to become social justice warriors for leftist causes.
While this is currently only “encouraged” for school district adoption, a new bill in the California legislature would make it mandatory for K-12 public schools.
Any California parents who don’t realize what this insidious propaganda is have probably been relying on liberal media outlets for “information” about it. As the Legal Insurrection blog notes at the link, the Los Angeles Times blithely dismissed criticism of it by writing, “Frequently attacked by former President Trump and misinterpreted as creating divisions among groups, critical race theory is seen by ethnic studies practitioners as inseparable from the field, and the board recommended adding a definition to clear up misconceptions about it.”
"Misinterpreted as creating divisions among groups"? Yeah, like that could possibly happen!
Let’s be very clear: if you think that Critical Race Theory is a neo-Marxist concept designed to destroy America by filling children with resentment, guilt and a hatred of their own nation and by turning a once-cohesive society into divided, warring tribes based on skin color, then you’ve interpreted its conception perfectly. It’s legalized child abuse. If Californians have finally wised up enough to recall their Governor, then if they care about their children, they should recall their board of education, too.
In the meantime, if you are a parent with a child going back to public school soon, read this now.
Big Court Win Against NYT
By Mike Huckabee
If you think that countries where people are thrown in jail just for committing thought crimes only exist in other parts of the world, then cast a wary eye northward toward our neighbor, Canada. That’s where a father has just been jailed for contempt of court for referring to his 14-year-old daughter, who identifies as male, as “she” and “her” and his “daughter.”
Not only that, Canadian courts ordered that the…er, offspring (who, again, is 14) receive testosterone injections without obtaining parental consent, and declared that “if either of her parents referred to her using female pronouns or addressed her by her birth name, they would be considered guilty of family violence.”
The father (if I’m still allowed to use gendered terms) responded, “The government has taken over my parental rights. They’re using (the girl) like she’s a guinea pig in an experiment…Is (British Columbia) Children’s Hospital going to be there in five years when she rejects [her male identity]? No they’re not. They don’t care. They want numbers.”
Let’s hope that doesn’t land him in solitary confinement. Again, let me repeat, this is not Iran, China or the Middle East. This is Canada in 2021. I will pray for Canada to once again start identifying as a free nation.
