BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY
Important update: Parents Defending Education fights leftist indoctrination
By Mike Huckabee
Two of our stories from last week –- one about the 1984 interview with former KGB propagandist Yuri Bezmenov, in which he explains how the left took over education in a “long game” to indoctrinate generations of Americans, and the other about the approval and likely passage of California’s terrible new “ethnic studies” curriculum –- generated some excellent comments and suggestions from readers. Here’s one that looks especially promising.
From Hiedi F:
Noticed on Fox News today: Parents Defending Education: defendinged.org
I will pursue more information, but you may want to as well. Accepting complaints and notifications from parents concerned about what is being taught. Investigating said complaints and keeping parents anonymous to avoid backlash and cancellation. Since mine are all out of school now, I may join the organization. Would you check this out with me?
From the Gov:
Thank you, Hiedi. We’re glad to check this out. According to their impressive website,
"Parents Defending Education is a national grassroots organization working to reclaim our schools from activists promoting harmful agendas. Through network and coalition building, investigative reporting, litigation, and engagement on local, state and national policies, we are fighting indoctrination in the classroom --- and for the restoration of a healthy, non-political education for our kids.”
As social/political indoctrination is happening all over --- NOT just in California by any means --- the website features a helpful map of the United States. Click on the location, and local news from school districts will pop up, along with organizations of concerned parents and educators in that area.
The website also features stories from around the country, such as one we saw from former WALL STREET JOURNAL reporter Asra Nomani about Naperville School District 203 in Illinois, which paid “diversity consultant” Dena Nicole Simmons $10,000 for a 60-minute Zoom “keynote” address last month. That’s right: she made $175 a minute doing this --- nice work if you can get it. As we’ve pointed out, there’s lots of money to be made in this new field, and in the age of covid, you don’t even have to leave your house. Just major in Ethnic Studies, become an “expert,” sit down at your laptop and talk the right political line.
Anyway, we encourage you to check out this website and find ways to get involved. Parents Defending Education says it’s time to...
EMPOWER (“Learn the facts, get organized, know your rights”)
EXPOSE (“Investigate and expose the truth inside your school”)
ENGAGE (“Parents across the country are joining the fight --- learn how you can help”)
If you think there’s not much you as an individual can do, they say no effort is too small. You don't have to have your own children in school. If you have a tip, send it in. Share articles on the website with friends. Ask questions at school if you’re not comfortable with some of the subject matter they’re teaching. Escalate your concerns if they don’t answer to your satisfaction. Join an existing organization, or, if there isn’t one in your area, consider getting one started yourself.
Importantly, this organization keeps their membership list and any communications confidential.
"We’re building an army of Davids,” they say, “and we want you on our team.”
This is a newly-formed organization; the WASHINGTON TIMES ran an excellent piece on it several days ago. Highly recommended.
Nicole Neily, president of the group, is quoted as saying, “There’s this feeling among some that this is just a New York and California thing, but it’s not; it’s everywhere. It’s in private schools, parochial schools and red states.” And that is true. Critical Race Theory, in all its toxicity, has taken hold in our schools. This teaches white kids that they are automatically racist and guilty of “whiteness,” a perverse view that in itself is as racist as any Jim Crow law ever was. And, perhaps even more tragically, it teaches black kids to assume that white kids hate them and carry the responsibility for generations of whatever might be seen as “inequity” today.
CRT was developed from an earlier invention called Critical Theory as a pretense for implementing a Big Government system of “income equality,” which is, essentially, Communism. It’s also something to teach instead of real subjects such as advanced science, math, history (not the anti-American rewrite) and classic literature. And the leftists who have been working on implementing this agenda, literally for generations, are well on their way to achieving it if it isn’t stopped.
According to the WASHINGTON TIMES, Neily “envisions DefendingEd.org as a network of concerned parents who can swap horror stories and seek political or legal solutions.”
One of their advisers is writer and documentary filmmaker Christopher Rufo. You can check out some of his work here.
Thanks again, Hiedi, for suggesting we check into this. I have no tie with this nonprofit organization and, so far, can go only by what they’re saying online, but it sounds like an excellent way to get involved. As those on the left find power in organizing, we must do the same. A nationwide network like this helps give us power, and we need all the power we can get to fight back and retake the schools.
One thing we can do RIGHT NOW is pull our kids out of schools that indoctrinate them with leftist ideology. Candace Owens, in an appearance on SUNDAY MORNING FUTURES with Maria Bartiromo, advocated home-schooling. She said that, aside from being taught to hate each other, kids in leftist schools are being deprived of "hard academics" while being made into an "ignorant group who vote based on emotion." Candace gets an A-plus for insight.
I’d like to close with comments from another reader, from Canada, who as a student had the opportunity to study Russian history and culture and never forgot Khruschev’s warning to the West. Instead of garbage like Critical Race Theory, students should be learning this.
From Barry:
Mike, I am a Canadian subscriber to your newsletter since before the Nov 3rd. election. We Canadians should be very concerned about what is happening on both sides of our border with our friends to the south. Our country and yours are tied so very closely that when one hurts, the other hurts as well. We are that close!
When I was a first-year engineering student, in 1964, I had to take an elective, and I chose Russian History and Culture. It was fascinating. I do remember hearing Nikita Khruschev deliver his promise, that "one day, we will bury your children’s children." Then, only 20 years later, we were warned by Bezmenov that it was already too late --- in 1984, the same year written so prophetically about by George Orwell --- to stop the tide of Communism. Perhaps if you had highlighted that year, 1984, instead of just mentioning the "1980s," it might have been seen to be far more urgent than people realize. It probably is too late! In my opinion, Donald Trump was America's last hope...
From the Gov:
Thank you so much for writing, Barry. And, yes, we did see the “1984” connection –- didn’t use it only because these days it seems we’re always pointing out “1984” connections. Sadly, we could do one of those every day. But I can’t assume it’s too late, and whenever possible I’ll be making concrete suggestions for actions we can take.
A Huck's Hero many times over
By Mike Huckabee
Actor Gary Sinese has done so much for veterans, he could be a Huck’s Hero many times over. Here’s his latest contribution to helping veterans and first responders with PTSD and brain injuries. And a big salute as well to the founders of Home Depot for partnering with him to make it happen.
All the Republicans need to take back control is to pick up a handful of seats
By Mike Huckabee
Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her House Democrats keep passing extremely radical, America-changing bills with only a tiny five-vote majority. I hope that come 2022, they will become a tiny minority of the House and that Pelosi will be relegated to a broom closet office.
Even so, all the Republicans need to take back control is to pick up a handful of seats. At the link, Dick Morris explains how the 2020 Census might make that easier. So many people are fleeing blue states for red states that the Republican-run states will likely be picking up House seats while the Democrat-run states will lose seats.
Of course, this is based on the people who fled blue states being smart enough not to vote for the same policies that caused them to flee. Unfortunately, that’s still an open question.
Must-read article
By Mike Huckabee
An anonymous (of course) public high school administrator describes with alarm how the left has completely infiltrated public and some private schools with anti-American, racist “critical race theory” and Marxist social justice propaganda. This describes how they get it into schools and drill it into teachers, who in turn poison your kids’ minds with it, the goal being to create entire generations of “woke,” anti-American radicals who will grow up and take over America for them.
The author also talks about how parents can fight back against it, but it won’t be an easy battle. Read this and you might just want to keep home schooling and not send your kids back to class, even if the teachers’ unions ever do agree to go back to work.
Dislike
By Mike Huckabee
I often reference George Orwell’s “1984” because it’s so relevant now (Orwell was right; he was just off by 37 years.) I recently wrote again about how the totalitarian government in that book removed words from the language so that people wouldn’t even be able to express anger at the government or demand freedom. Sound familiar?
Well, in the “1984” of 2021, people don’t exclusively use words to communicate anymore. So the Newspeak censors of Big Tech have to find ways to censor emojis, too. For instance, videos of President Biden’s statements on YouTube are getting so many more thumbs-downs than thumbs-ups that YouTube is considering disabling the counter that shows how many “dislikes” he has (because if you can't see the opposition, it doesn't exist, right?) Until that time, they recently deleted 2.5 million “dislikes” from Biden’s videos.
YouTube claims this is to thwart bots or organized “dislike” campaigns, but so far, they’ve shown no evidence that all those dislikes weren’t authentic. Have you noticed that Democrats, particularly of the far-left variety, are as incapable of believing that someone can legitimately disagree with their political opinions as they are of accepting that it’s possible for them to lose an election legitimately?
That’s why it was so stunning for me to hear them accuse anyone who questioned Biden’s win of treason and insurrection, since they almost always insist they really won any remotely close race that they lost. Some of the same House Democrats screaming treason over the challenging of Biden’s win actually challenged Trump’s 2016 win themselves. And remember all those Hollywood celebrities in that embarrassing video, pleading with electors to ignore the will of their voters and vote for Hillary instead? Those insurrectionists!
Allow me to explain a simple reality to them and to the censors at YouTube, paraphrasing the words of a Hollywood celebrity, Sally Field: “We don’t like you! We really don’t like you!” Well, not you personally, since I don’t condemn people for their misguided political views, but I do hate those political views. And news flash: there are nearly 75 million Trump voters who don’t need bots, organized campaigns or Q-Anon to tell them to click on “Dislike” when they hear anything that Joe Biden has said since becoming President. All they need is ears and a brain.
Supreme Court throws out NYC lawsuit
By Mike Huckabee
The Supreme Court threw out New York City’s lawsuit against a number of oil companies, blaming them for contributing to global warming by selling oil – which is not only their business, but is perfectly legal.
It was a ridiculous lawsuit on the face of it, but you should read the full story at the link to appreciate the irony. Much of the Court’s reasoning for dismissing the lawsuit was based on a 2007 court victory by the green lobby, which argued that the EPA has the authority to regulate greenhouse gases. Well, they won and got what they wanted: the federal government has authority over greenhouse gases - not the states or cities. So case dismissed, New York City.
Looking at Nullification
By Mike Huckabee
Any liberals reading this to find out what the other side is saying probably won’t be interested in this article, because it’s a factual, informative piece about US history and the Constitution, two things today’s left hates like Dracula hates garlic. But with the Biden Administration ruling against the will of the people even more aggressively than Obama did, it’s worth reading for its deep-dive look at nullification, the idea that states have the power to declare federal actions unconstitutional.
Short version: in Cooper v. Aaron (1958), the Supreme Court affirmed judicial supremacy, which means that five unelected SCOTUS judges get to decide what all the states have to put up with.
However, and this might be of interest to liberals, there’s now a concept called “interposition” (the author calls it “nullification light”) where, if states disagree with federal actions, they can order state law enforcement resources not to cooperate with the feds, making it very difficult for Washington to enforce them. Before Democrats start railing about that being treason and insurrection, they should know that they helped establish it firmly in recent years by legalizing marijuana when it’s still illegal under federal law and creating “sanctuary” cities and states where police refuse to cooperate with ICE in arresting and deporting criminal illegal immigrants.
This once again proves that one of the best ways to “resist” outrageous actions by the left is to hold them to their own standards.
A Reader Writes Back...
Governor Huckabee - Thank you for these wonderful articles that bring serious issues to Americans who are smart enough to "pay attention". I am in my early 70's and have been frustrated for years with the lack of concern shown for traditional American values. Yes America has been party to some terrible things in the past - that should not have happened in a country built on "Freedom". But man is flawed and has been since the beginning of time. That should not detract from the fact that our nation was conceived on principles that are worthy, even if we as a people stumble from time to time.
Thank you for encouraging/pushing "real Americans" to stand up for our country. Too many people have given their life for this idea of America, for us to let it be destroyed on our watch. There are a growing number of us that use our small platforms to try and get people to open their eyes and see what the "haters" are doing to our country. If each of us can reach one or two people a day and get them to face what is going on. That will be a start. The next step will be to get them to get involved.
If Washington, the "Misguided Media" and "Cowardly Corporate America" think that "America hating Liberals/Socialist" are a force to be reckoned with, they obviously have forgotten what "America Loving Conservatives" can do - when we stand together. It's time that we remind them.
Thank you for doing what you do.
