I started this newsletter back in the fall of 2016 just ahead of President Trump's election over Hillary Clinton.  Since then, I have chronicled his presidency, a nation grappling with COVID, woke ideology, elections, more elections, Congress and finally Joe Biden's presidency.

My team and I like to say that we read the news, so you don't have to. We spend late nights and early mornings, finding news we think is important for you to read, and then we add our two cents and sometimes three cents to help frame things.

It's hard work and time consuming, but we love to do it, and I hope you like to read it enough to pay for a subscription!

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Prayers for Tennessee

Saturday, half a dozen powerful tornadoes tore into central Tennessee in the Nashville area, leaving at least six people dead and close to two dozen injured. Thousands were left without power, so the widespread damage is still being assessed. One of the towns hit hard was Hendersonville, where we shoot “Huckabee” for TBN. Thankfully, all my staffers are safe and accounted for, although our theater suffered some damage, and the TV studio and office next door were nearly destroyed.

Please pray for those who have lost everything to these violent storms, and here are some ways that you can help.

Protecting democracy

Update on the Democrats’ desperate efforts to protect “our democracy” by preventing Americans from voting for the candidate of their choice.

UPDATE:

After last week’s disgraceful House testimony in which the presidents of Harvard, MIT and UPenn twisted the language like pretzels to avoid saying that calling for the genocide of Jews was unacceptable campus conduct, reaction from decent people has been swift and furious. Following the revocation of a $100 million donation amid other outraged reactions, UPenn president Liz McGill resigned on Saturday.

If the other two had any honor or shame, they would resign as well. But oh, look: 511 members of the Harvard faculty signed a letter supporting Harvard president Claudine Gay.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/500-harvard-faculty-members-support-university-president-letter-board-antisemitism-hearing

Hilariously, the letter reads that "we urge you in the strongest possible terms to defend the independence of the university and to resist political pressures that are at odds with Harvard’s commitment to academic freedom, including calls for the removal of President Claudine Gay...The critical work of defending a culture of free inquiry in our diverse community cannot proceed if we let its shape be dictated by outside forces."

That’s rich. Elite schools like Harvard are notorious for their hostility to independent thought, freedom of speech and any ideas that diverge from woke leftist orthodoxy. The same “academics” who can’t say whether threatening to murder Jews is unacceptable were gleefully censoring, cancelling, firing and expelling people who dared to express basic common sense, like saying that men can’t become women. But censoring calls for genocide of Jews? Why, that’s a bridge too far.

That’s hardly surprising, considering that the Harvard faculty is one of the primary reasons why so many students have been deluded into thinking that it’s trendy radical chic to hate Israel, even if it means siding with brutal terrorists who rape, torture and murder innocent men, women and children, not to mention terrorizing their fellow Jewish students. Come to think of it, we should thank them for signing that letter because it gives us a list of other staffers beyond the president who should be examined for possible firing.

RELATED: Turns out they might be supporting the retention of someone who is not only accused of being a DEI hire lacking intellectual credentials, but who, like Joe Biden, got her job as president at least partially thanks to plagiarism.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2023/12/11/harvards-president-might-be-involved-in-a-plagiarism-scandal-n2632243

Dr. Phil McGraw, who was recently my guest on “Huckabee” to talk about how we’re going wrong in raising our kids, watched that House testimony last week and released a video accusing the university presidents of “sickening smugness” and of turning their schools into “woke hotbeds fostering anti-Semitism.” His message to all three: “I saw the Hamas footage. Resign.”

The bad news for Houston, Texas:

Voters just elected another Democrat mayor. The extremely good news: it’s not Sheila Jackson Lee. In Saturday’s officially nonpartisan mayoral election, moderate Democrat John Whitmire, who ran on a tough-on-crime platform, buried Lee in a 2-1 landslide.

https://www.westernjournal.com/man-beat-sheila-jackson-lee-adds-insult-injury-post-victory-statement-defeated-opponent/

Lee was already infamous for her angry radical-left politics, profanely berating her staffers, thinking the US put a man on Mars, and believing there are two Vietnams, North and South, that peacefully coexist. She’ll now also be known for running an ad for mayor that urged people to vote for her on the wrong day. I’m pretty sure that’s not what cost her the race, but don’t be surprised if she claims it is, and blames Trump for it.

Here’s today’s link to continually-updated news on the war in Israel from Fox News…

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/december-11-israel-hamas-war

The latest: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the war on Hamas has entered “the beginning of the end” as Hamas militants have started laying down their weapons and surrendering by the dozens. Please note, elite university students, that they are being arrested alive, and not being shot to death while unarmed , which is what people who really do support genocide, like your heroes Hamas, would do.

https://www.westernjournal.com/leftists-turn-joe-biden-show-droves-protest-fundraiser-deep-blue-stronghold/

Unfortunately, some diehard radicals are refusing to surrender and threatening to kill their hostages (again, nice group of “freedom fighters” you’re backing, Harvard brainiacs.)

https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2023/12/10/hamas-warns-it-could-kill-all-hostages-unless-israel-meets-demands/

Israel is responding by intensifying its search for top Hamas leaders like Yahya Sinwar. Netanyahu said his message to Hamas soldiers is that it’s “over. Don't die for Sinwar. Surrender − now."

And since these hammerheads in the West seem to need to have the truth force-fed to them before they grasp it, here’s what former Hamas communications minister Yousef al-Mansi, who is being held in Israeli captivity, said that he and the Palestinian people think about Hamas:

“They destroyed the Gaza Strip. Set it back 200 years. There is no opportunity to live.” He called Hamas a bunch of “crazy people,” led by Yahya Sinwar, “a walking dead man” with “delusions of grandeur.” He added, “I have not seen anyone in the Gaza Strip who supports Sinwar; nobody likes Sinwar. There are people who, day and night, pray that God will free us from him.”

Trump update

Former President Donald Trump announced Sunday on Truth Social that he will not take the stand again today in his real estate fraud trial in New York. He was expected to be the final defense witness, but he wrote, “I have already testified to everything & have nothing more to say other than this is a complete & total election interference (Biden campaign!) witch hunt” so “I will not be testifying on Monday.”

https://www.breitbart.com/news/trump-changes-course-says-he-wont-testify-monday-at-civil-fraud-trial/

The Biden White House won’t be happy to hear that most Americans agree with Trump’s assessment of all the legal charges against him, and that includes half of their own party.

https://issuesinsights.com/2023/12/11/nearly-half-of-dems-say-charges-against-trump-are-politically-motivated-ii-tipp-poll/

A new Issues & Insights/TIPP poll asked if respondents agreed or disagreed that “The Democratic Party is using the law to try to prevent Trump from running in the 2024 election.” Overall, 60 percent agreed, while only 31% disagreed. Even more interesting, those who agreed that the charges are politically motivated included 81% of Republicans, 53% of Independents and even 49% of Democrats.

Maybe they heard that last week in New York, two expert witnesses testified that they couldn’t find a single instance of fraud in any of the loan documents for the case where the judge already found Trump guilty before even seeing the evidence. To me, that’s kind of a dead giveaway.

Siding with evil

When you thought that Ivy League University Presidents were incapable of demonstrating a complete lack of common sense, decency, and moral character, the Presidents of Harvard, Penn, and MIT went before Congress and pretty much said, “Hold muh Bud Light and watch this!”

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York repeatedly asked each of them if having their students publicly advocate for the genocide of Jews was harassment and if it violated their university rules.  Should have been an easy answer.  They all should have emphatically declared that “yes, of course it’s harassment to publicly call for the murder of Jews and it not only violates the rules of our university, but the basic rules of civilized people!”  Except NONE of those university presidents said such a thing.  They instead mumbled through carefully worded and prepared responses that said that it depended on the “context.”

Well, here’s some context for you highly educated but obviously not so brilliant scholars—when you are so morally bankrupt that you can’t simply say that a call for killing Jews is a repulsive act of antisemitic hate and beyond the bounds of free speech and even sanity, then you should in fact resign and sell hot dogs on the street corners from a little cart.  And I mean that as no disrespect to the people selling hot dogs on the street from a little cart.

Bill Ackman, a billionaire hedge fund executive who has given millions to Harvard, but says he won’t anymore, called on all 3 to resign in disgrace and urged big-dollar donors like himself to turn off the money spigots once and for all.

Not since the rise of the Nazis in the 1930s have academicians so blatantly sided with evil.  Keep in mind these are the same type of University Presidents who have not allowed conservatives, pro-life advocates, or evangelical Christians to speak on campus and have labeled them homophobes, transphobes, misogynists, and climate deniers but have no problem with allowing people on their campus to ignore the massacre of innocent babies, elderly people, and families.  They have led the so-called “me too” movement and demanded that a woman should be believed if she alleges sexual assault even if the incident happened 40 years earlier and has no witnesses.  Careers were ended, and even members of Congress were forced to resign due to alleged, but unproved accusations.  These same university leaders created “safe spaces” for students who were triggered by anything from a Halloween costume to the mere mention of the Bible and had to escorted to a “safe space” where they were treated with puppies, Play-Dough, and popsicles.  No one threatened THEM with murder.  They were just frightened by the sight of a conservative student, a Bible, or a pro-life banner.  College students have parents who are paying north of $70 thousand a year to supposedly get an education, but who instead are paying for their weird and wussy darlings to get an indoctrination into the finer art of Marxism, self-centeredness, and godless socialism.  If these are the future leaders of America, then we are surely toast--without butter or jelly!

No parent should entrust their money or more importantly their offspring to a school whose leader refuses to boldly speak out against antisemitic calls for the murder of a minority who comprise 0.2% of the world’s population and yet who have disproportionately suffered the most from hate crimes and now are threatened with genocide.

What was done systematically to Jews in the 1930’s is looking all too familiar with what is happening now.  In the lead-up to the Holocaust, most of the world’s population thought that talk of annihilating Jews was just over-the-top political hyperbole.  It seemed so preposterous that the highly educated elites in Europe and the US dismissed it as not possible.  Eleven million murders later, with 6 million of the victims being Jews, the world decided “Never Again!” There was a profound sense of guilt and regret that the threat to Jews, the infirm, the elderly, and those who spoke up in support of Jews was not taken seriously until it was too late.  We can’t sit by silently and let this evil happen again.  And if university presidents are just too plain dumb or cowardly to lead the battle to protect all human beings, but including the Jews from genocide, then we at least need to send our children and our money to institutions who haven’t lost their minds and their decency.

Okay, we all know it:  why Hunter is REALLY being indicted now

After Republicans’ initial feeling of, “Hey, sometimes the ‘justice’ system really DOES work,” the realization is quickly dawning that justice is not what the Hunter Biden indictment was about at all.

Recall our original comment that the timing of the announcement last week was “interesting,” given that Hunter had been subpoenaed to appear before the House Ways and Means Committee this coming week.  And it was surprising that the charges were to be brought after all in...(drum roll, please!)...the Central District of California, when it was the same Biden-appointed U.S. attorney there, Martin Estrada, who wouldn’t cooperate with Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss to bring charges against Hunter in his district.  (Note:  neither would Biden-appointed U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves in DC.)  Why would Estrada change his mind and start wanting to see justice done?  And Estrada’s name reportedly does not appear on the charging documents; we’re not sure what to make of that.

Some legal analysts were quick to point out Hunter’s indictment would effectively prevent him from having to testify before Congress in a lengthy closed-door session, just when they had gotten serious about holding him in contempt for failure to appear.  In fact, the committee chairmen had just sent a letter to Hunter attorney Abbe Lowell promising to do just that.  Hunter’s other option would simply be to appear and take the Fifth Amendment.  Given that he’s under indictment, he would unquestionably be entitled to do that.

The other giveaway that this indictment is not about justice is the narrow focus of the charges.  As you know, the “Justice” Department allowed the statute of limitations to run out for the tax years during which Hunter was raking in money from Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings --- 2014 and 2015, while his father was Vice President.  And when they finally did draw up an indictment against Hunter, they left out certain crimes, most notably his failure to register as a foreign agent under the FARA law, which seems to apply only to Trump associates such as Paul Manafort and Mike Flynn.

By the way, to show just how worthless “fact”-checkers are, this weekend we happened across a 2020 USA TODAY check that perpetuated the lie that Biden was NOT helping his son with his role in firing Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, doing it only because Shokin hadn’t been going after corruption.  The “fact”-checkers had simply accepted an explanation from one of then-VP Biden’s foreign policy advisers that has since been proven false.  In truth, Shokin had actually been cited for good job performance but was fired anyway after Biden threatened to withdraw a $1 billion loan.  Yet this incorrect “fact”-check is still online; you can read it here…

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/21/fact-check-joe-biden-leveraged-ukraine-aid-oust-corrupt-prosecutor/5991434002/

While the commentators at MSNBC continue covering for the President --- making one wonder how they can look at themselves in the mirror (which, ironically, they probably do a LOT) --- the level of corruption involved in this scandal is staggering, as is the mountain of evidence that implicates the President.  If you have friends and family who still don’t get it, this piece by Bill O’Reilly will sum it up quite well for them, particularly the corruption within the DOJ that amazingly allowed the Bidens to get away with their crimes for years.

https://www.billoreilly.com/b/Corruption-Beyond-a-Reasonable-Doubt/-129906898403206580.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column

Abbe Lowell had the nerve to say this: “Based on the facts and the law, if Hunter’s last name was anything other than Biden, the charges in Delaware, and now California, would not have been brought.”  (Cue laugh track.)  But as Florida Rep. Byron Donalds told Maria Bartiromo on FOX NEWS Sunday morning, “No, Abbe, the only reason why it took so LONG for him to be indicted is because his last name is Biden.”  Great interview, especially on violations of FARA law...

https://www.foxnews.com/video/6342730072112

All right, Mr. Lowell, you want to talk about last names?  Let’s consider for five seconds that the last name being implicated here weren’t Biden but TRUMP.  It’s impossible to look at this case without thinking of how laws have been tortured and stretched to be able to bring a deluge of charges against President Trump ahead of the election next year.

After all, the “justice” system is working very differently when it comes to Trump; recall that New York Attorney General Letitia James actually ran on a wildly unconstitutional promise to hound him and prosecute him for...something.  In Stalin-esque fashion, she was going to “get Trump.”  The coordinated, all-out effort to get Trump was so obvious, Alan Dershowitz even wrote a book about it with that title: “GET TRUMP:  The Threat to Civil Liberties, Due Process and Our Constitutional Rule of Law.”

This is even more obvious now, as that trial takes place in Manhattan.  Defense witness Eli Bartov, an expert in financial reporting misconduct, testified last week (Trump was in court for this one) that James’ case has “no merit” and that Trump’s company had “violated no generally accepted accounting principles [GAAPs].”  Out of the thousands of such principles, he testified, he hadn’t been able to find ONE that the Trump Organization had violated.  Some of the charges “really bordered on absurd,” he said.  Yet before the trial even started, presiding Judge Engoron, certainly no financial expert but truly studied in Trump-hate, had ruled on his own that Trump committed fraud!

Details of Bartov’s testimony here…

https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/expert-says-he-couldnt-find-a-single-accounting-provision-violated-in-trump-fraud-trial-5543003

Larry Kudlow at FOX BUSINESS NEWS gets the picture, too.  On Friday, he said Hunter’s indictment makes him “untouchable” to House investigators.  “Hunter is going to use this as an excuse to avoid any private deposition under oath before any of the congressional oversight or judicial or ways and means committees,” he said, “or, worst case, he’ll take the Fifth if he has to go up there.”  Also, because he’s being charged only with tax-related crimes, he won’t be forced to reveal all the details that would come up in a discussion of his failure to register as a foreign agent.

As Kudlow said, “My nonlegal suspicion is that this whole series of events actually brings GOP oversight investigators further away from Joe Biden because Hunter’s going to be untouchable for quite some time,” Kudlow said. “And if I were really a cynic, I would say the special counsel, David Weiss – who has zero credibility – decided to put Hunter on ice for exactly this reason.”

We’re non-attorneys here, too, and, sadly, ARE that cynical when it comes to this administration and the “Justice” Department.  That’s exactly why Hunter was indicted.

https://dailycaller.com/2023/12/08/untouchable-former-trump-official-says-indictment-will-keep-hunter-out-of-reach-of-house-investigators

Dick Morris had an interesting allegation this weekend about Joe Biden being, in effect, on the Chinese payroll.  And this was in another way besides those monthly payments to Hunter.

“Biden was essentially not just seeking bribes, but on the payroll of the Chinese Communist Party,” Morris said on NEWSMAX’s “Saturday Report.”  (Morris has a new book out that dives deep into this: “CORRUPT:  The Inside Story of Biden’s Dark Money.”)  “They gave the University of Pennsylvania $58 million as a grant at the start of Biden’s term and set up the Institute for Global Engagement and hired Joe Biden as a professor.  [‘Professor.’]  At the end of his term as Vice President when he was unemployed, China basically gave him a job.”

According to Morris, they also paid “hefty salaries” to future Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and “nine others, high-level national security people.”  It just keeps getting worse.

https://www.newsmax.com/newsmax-tv/dick-morris-hunter-biden-donald-trump/2023/12/09

(Dick Morris will be my guest next weekend on “Huckabee” on TBN, and I suspect this topic will come up.)

We’ll leave the Biden scandal with a comment from author and persuasion expert Scott Adams, who said Sunday that in light of the polls showing “the country truly doesn’t want Biden,” he senses that “something really illegal might be brewing,” stemming from “a sense of desperation” on the part of Democrats and the number of hoaxes they’ve already perpetrated, through activities that are either illegal or should be.  In other words, be ready for anything.

“Short of a huge crime,” Adams said, “the Democrats are going to lose power.”

Alex Jones is back

Elon Musk announced Sunday that controversial (to say the least) Infowars host Alex Jones would be allowed to return to Twitter (X), making good on Musk’s promise to return free speech to the platform. He cited a poll that found that 70.1% of the platform’s users supported letting Jones return.

https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2023/12/10/the-people-have-spoken-elon-musk-restores-account-belonging-alex-jones/

I’m not a fan or defender of Jones, but in America, that’s not reason enough to deny someone free speech. One Twitter user posted that “permanent account bans are antithetical to free speech,” and Musk responded, “I find it hard to disagree with this point.”

This is already causing the expected foam-flecked outrage from leftists, who never seem bothered by leftwing loudmouths, hatemongers and conspiracy theorists on social media. But they can take solace in knowing that they still have the weapons that the Founders intended for countering speech they disagree with: they can respond and refute it, or they can go read something else.

    Governor:
UPenn president Liz McGill resigning as president is a total joke. She is still employed by UPenn. In other words this is nothing but a ploy so they get their donors back and she keeps her paycheck.
    Sad!
