1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
If you have a favorite Bible Verse you want to see in one of our newsletters, please email [email protected].
2. Core Prices
Friday morning, the government reported that core prices – a key measure of inflation used by the Fed that excludes food and energy prices – rose 5.4% in February from the previous February. That’s the 11th straight month that it’s been above the central bank’s target rate of 2%, and the biggest jump in core prices since 1982. And again, that doesn’t include food or fuel.

This also answers the question, “Why does the President seem to want us to be talking about nothing but transgenderism?”
3. Great news
In a victory for everyone who’s ever been slandered by irresponsible leftist academics who smear people as racists without evidence, the Ohio 9th District Court of Appeals has upheld a massive judgement against Oberlin College by the family-owned Gibson’s Bakery.
In a nutshell, Gibson's detained an Oberlin student who was shoplifting, and who later pleaded guilty. But because he was black, an Oberlin dean of students accused the bakery of racial profiling, got their business with the college canceled, called for a boycott and helped gin up angry protests outside their business. The plaintiffs accused Oberlin of dragging out the case because they knew the two family patriarchs were terminally ill, but the family kept fighting after their deaths.
The Court upheld the full award of $33 million in damages, punitive judgements and attorneys’ fees. The Court rejected Oberlin’s claim that they were being held responsible for the free speech of their students, finding that the protests were background and the issue was the defamatory statements that inspired them. Oberlin could appeal to the state Supreme Court, but there’s no guarantee that they would take the case or rule any differently.
Click the link to read the full details and prepare to get angry but feel satisfied at the results. If universities are going to actively promote the idea that racism is such a terrible thing that anyone accused of it should be targeted, attacked and destroyed, then that makes it even more vital that courts treat false and malicious accusations of racism as seriously as they would treat someone misusing a deadly weapon.

5. Russia-Ukraine
Here’s today’s link to Fox News’ continually-updated Russia-Ukraine coverage:
https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/ukraine-russia-live-updates-04-02-2022
Some of the most recent headlines: Russian troops have withdrawn from key areas around Kyiv, and Ukrainian forces are pursuing them and have taken back some surrounding villages. The US Defense Department announced that it will provide $300 million in military equipment to Ukraine (it sounds like a lot, but Biden left 283 times that much behind in Afghanistan for the Taliban.) UNESCO reports that at least 53 historical sites in Ukraine have been damaged, including 29 religious sites, 16 historic buildings and four museums.
Ukrainian President Zelensky gave an exclusive interview to Fox News’ Bret Baier. He said that the only acceptable end of the war for Ukraine is victory, and that means they will not cede territory to Russia. He also said he’s not asking allies to give Ukraine the latest fighter jets, just give them old Soviet planes, “Give me something to defend my country with." For more, click on this link:
6. Disney has made a mess
Do you remember the classic Mickey Mouse cartoon, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” where Mickey decides he can perform magic like his boss the wizard, and accidentally creates an army of water bucket-toting broomsticks that nearly drown him before the boss steps in, sets things right, then swats him? Well, that’s a pretty good analogy for the situation the executives at the Disney Corporation have put themselves into.
They decided that they were so powerful, they could wave their magic wand and command the Governor of Florida to change the state’s laws to their liking. Or more precisely, to the liking of a handful of radical LGBTQ activists who seem to have taken over the company and are bullying everyone there into submission.
(To give you an idea of how much power these woke bullies wield, an anonymous Disney whistleblower claimed that in 2019-2021, while every other department was shrinking by 25 to 75%, Disney’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department expanded by 633%. That’s like having a bloodsucking tick attached to your body that’s bigger than you are.)
Well, the Disney honchos’ attempts to play wizard are blowing up in their faces as they discover that running the Magic Kingdom doesn’t actually give them magic powers. And the guy with the real power may be about to give them a good swat or two to remind them of that.
Disney wildly mischaracterized the state’s new parental rights law as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill and declared that they would use company resources to repeal it, siding with activists who claim it will harm and even lead to the deaths of gay and trans kids. None of that is true. It just bars schools from exposing children in kindergarten-third grade to inappropriate sexual and gender content without parental consent. Even a majority of Florida Democratic primary voters approve of the bill.
Many parents say they're withholding their business from Disney. They understandably think that If you can’t teach first grade without talking to the kids about sex, then you should be in another line of work. As Florida mom and “Moms For Liberty” co-founder Quisha King put it, “Why is the hill to die on to have transgenderism injected in a kindergarten classroom?"
https://www.foxnews.com/media/woke-disney-desantis-florida-parental-rights-outrage
In signing the bill, Gov. Ron DeSantis made it clear that “woke” corporations in California, especially ones that kowtow to the genocidal Chinese government, do not dictate Florida school policy. Then, a shocking video of a company-wide Disney Zoom meeting leaked, revealing that internally, they are proudly pushing a radical gay/trans agenda onto kids.
DeSantis said Disney has gotten too “far over their skies” on this, and now he and the state legislature are taking a look at repealing laws that have been enacted to benefit Disney, like allowing them to run the area that includes their theme parks as if they’re a local government, with control over zoning, roads, water and other issues (they could even build a nuclear power plant if they wanted.) If they lose their self-governing status, they’d have to go through the county permitting process. DeSantis said it’s not retaliatory, but I can think of few punishments worse.

But it’s not just Floridians that Disney has ticked off. Wading into politics might cost them the Holy Grail of Disney: the copyright on Mickey Mouse. By all rights, Mickey (who’s been around since the 1920s) should have entered the public domain in 1984, but thanks to platoons of lawyers, aggressive lobbying and well-placed political donations, every time the deadline has approached, Congress has extended copyright protection even further. The US now has one of the longest copyright periods in the world, largely due to Disney’s fear of losing control of its corporate mascot.
But Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks sent a letter to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, reminding him that the original design of Mickey is set to enter public domain on January 1, 2024, and due to their continued work with a Chinese regime that doesn’t respect intellectual property rights and their desire to influence young children with inappropriate sexual content, he cannot support extending it yet again. In fact, he said a lot of companies take it for granted that their copyrights will be extended forever, and it’s time Congress started examining this across the board.
That link to Townhall.com has more details on the complicated trademark issues. It doesn’t mean Disney would lose Mickey, but it would mean costly, uncharted legal territory that I’m sure they don’t want to get into. But they’re the ones who decided to go political and meddle in powers they don’t understand and can’t control, so they shouldn’t be surprised if it ends up drowning them. For Disndy, going "woke" was a real Mickey Mouse move.
7. EcoHealth
If you’re a longtime reader of this newsletter, the news you’re seeing elsewhere might seem awfully out of date. We were telling you about Hunter’s laptop and the bogusness of the “missing 7 hours of White House phone records” story long before the New York Times or CNN finally got around to reporting on them.
And now, another liberal media outlet has finally caught up: Vanity Fair magazine actually ran an investigative piece on EcoHealth Alliance, the murky nonprofit that my readers already knew was suspected of using NIH grants to fund gain-of-function research to make viruses more virulent at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The magazine found that EcoHealth operated under “murky grant agreements, flimsy oversight, and the pursuit of government funds for scientific advancement, in part by pitching research of steeply escalating risk.” It also reports that credentialed experts suspected COVID was created in a lab. And media messiah Dr. Anthony Fauci tried to discredit them and quash any evidence that the grants his agency approved might have funded the virus’ creation, pushing the narrative that that was a groundless conspiracy theory.
Here’s a write-up about the key findings of the article…
https://www.wndnewscenter.org/vanity-fair-fauci-silenced-lab-leak-theories-hid-evidence/
Here’s a link to the full, very lengthy original…
Just for fun, here’s Sen. Rand Paul commenting on Dr. Fauci…
https://www.foxnews.com/media/fauci-adjacent-behavior-rand-paul-coronavirus
And as long as we’re talking about things that not long ago would’ve gotten you banned from social media just for mentioning them, here’s a newly-unearthed video from 2004, showing a younger Dr. Fauci saying that if you’ve had the flu, you don’t need to get vaccinated because natural immunity from prior infection is the most potent vaccination there is.
8. “A Walking Lawsuit”
Update on the story of the fourth-year Wake Forest medical student who bragged on social media about deliberately botching a blood sample so she could jab a patient twice because he joked about her “preferred pronouns” button: The school said an investigation found that her tweet did not reflect what actually occurred, that proper procedures were followed, and that she had apologized and been placed on a leave of absence.
Be that as it may, as Matt Vespa at Townhall.com points out, she’s already ruined her career because what hospital would hire a doctor who would be “a walking lawsuit?” Even if she didn’t actually harm a patient on purpose because she didn’t like his politics, she claimed she did in front of the entire world. Deranged politics aside, would you want a doctor with judgement that bad?
9. Good news for Biden
Finally, a poll with good news for President Biden: the new Marquette University Law School poll found that he still has the approval of a majority of black Americans, at 56 percent.
Oh, wait: he used to have the typical Democrat-level support of 88% among blacks, but that’s plummeted by 32 points, which could be catastrophic for Democrats who need massive minority turnout to win elections.
Fortunately for Democrats, Biden still has the overwhelming support of Hispanics, right? Oh, wait…
10. Palin for Congress
A number of candidates have announced plans to run in the special House election to replace my friend Alaska Rep. Don Young, who died suddenly at 88. One of them is a high profile name: former Gov. Sarah Palin.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/sarah-palin-announces-run-for-congress-in-alaska
I haven’t endorsed anyone in this race, but you’ve got to admit, the thought of Nancy Pelosi having to deal with Sarah Palin is awfully enjoyable. Especially after November, when I hope Nancy will be part of a lopsided minority.
11. Desperately-Needed Humor Break
Kevin Downey Jr. of PJ Media, who is also a stand-up comic, shares the hilarious fake April Fool’s Day stories he wanted to post, but he figured humorless liberal “fact-checkers” would take them seriously and ruin them.
