DAILY BIBLE VERSE
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
Nahum 1:7
Mayorkas impeachment vote fails
A vote in the House to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas (the worst DHS Secretary ever, and likely the worst Cabinet official in history, period) failed due to eight Republicans joining with Democrats to block it and a dozen other Republicans not voting at all.
I don’t know what their reasons are, but even if they felt it was a waste of time because it never would have passed the Senate, they should have at least gone on the record as condemning Mayorkas, a man charged with protecting America’s border security and who has instead deliberately destroyed it while repeatedly lying under oath. This is further proof that if someone has a (D) beside his name, today’s Democrats will never hold him accountable for anything, and you can always rely on a certain number of Republicans to fall in with them. If Mayorkas can't be impeached, no Democrat can be impeached, at least not unless Republicans have well over a two-thirds majority.
Here’s today’s link to continually-updated news on the war in Israel from Fox News…
https://www.foxnews.com/live-
Among the most recent headlines: Israel’s military announced a temporary pause of fighting in Gaza City today to allow more civilian evacuations – you know, like people do who DON’T commit genocides. Israel’s foreign minister called on United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to resign, saying he’s unfit to lead for his moral equivocations and his refusal to say, “clearly and loudly, ‘Free Gaza from Hamas.’”
In light of recent events, you won’t be shocked to learn that a report issued in May by the American Israeli Cooperative Enterprise found that the top donors to US universities are Arab nations such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Egypt.
Four hundred government officials from 40 departments and agencies in the Biden Administration signed a letter demanding a ceasefire and opposing Biden’s handling of the situation. From their pro-Palestinian demands, I assume they think he’s siding too much with Israel. This should give you an idea of why Trump had so much trouble getting his agenda enacted, when this is who’s filling those nearly impossible-to-fire positions.
Well, maybe this will mollify them: it’s reported that even after taking heat for freeing up $6 billion in frozen assets for Iran, and watching Iran fund Hamas and other terrorist groups attacking both Israel and our own troops in the Middle East, the Biden State Department is considering giving Iran access to ANOTHER $10+ billion worth of assets currently frozen in Iraq.
I know you can’t fix stupid, but could they at least try to reel in the jaw-droppingly stupid?
Hmm, must be an upcoming election...
You can tell an election year is drawing near because Democrats and their media sycophants are already starting to compare the leading Republican candidate to Hitler, which has been their go-to strategy in every election since Harry Truman did it to Thomas Dewey.
However, this year, they might want to rethink calling Trump “Hitler” in light of the recent discovery that a large number of their own constituents would probably vote for Hitler.
Omar gets a primary opponent
Considering the demographics of Ilhan Omar’s district in Minnesota, it’s probably too much to hope that she could be defeated by a Republican. But at least there could be a chance for her Democrat primary challenger, former Minneapolis city council member Don Samuels.
He lost to Omar by 2.1% in 2022, but since then, her constituents have not only seen her blatant anti-Semitism in full flower, but also experienced the deadly effects of defunding the police, which Omar demanded and Samuels opposed. He thinks it’s time to get rid of her conflict and divisiveness and replace her with someone more moderate. I don’t usually root for Democrats, but anything would be an improvement, and frankly, Fidel Castro would be more moderate.
Try not to wince
Try to control your wince reflex as you watch President Biden turn a Veterans Day speech into a combination of LGBTQ propaganda and word salad.
Once again...
It appears that the only people liberals will prosecute for using guns are law-abiding gun owners who use them to stop criminals. Once again, a man who stepped up to save someone from a threatening criminal on the New York Subway is facing prosecution while the criminals doing the threatening continue to run wild. In this case, even the woman he saved denounced him for owning the gun that he used to save her. There’s some gratitude for you.
On the other hand, Florida knows how to treat its heroes, like today’s Huck’s Hero, Army veteran Shane Spicer. Spicer was waiting for his coffee at an Orlando Starbucks when he saw a career criminal with 13 felony convictions trying to carjack a pregnant woman ahead of him. He leaped out of his car, jumped into the woman’s passenger seat, and told the thug, “You’re not going anywhere! You crossed the line.” He held him down until the police arrived. In Florida, they knew which one to arrest, and it wasn’t Spicer for roughing up the criminal or restraint of his trade.
Don't get your hopes up
Don’t get your hopes up, but there might be some unexpected good news for Republicans in the Virginia Senate election after all, due to some possible shenanigans on the Democrat candidate’s part.
Why I Support Trump
Raphael Warnock is not only a very liberal Senator from Georgia, he’s also a Baptist pastor. So the media like to use him to launch attacks on conservative Evangelicals. They did it again Sunday when totally objective MSNBC “journalist” Jen Psaki teed up this softball: “Does it bother you that the Evangelical community seems to continue to be very much behind Donald Trump? Is that surprising?”
His accommodating answer: “It’s a deep contradiction. And I think that when the history of this period is written, we will have a lot to say about that.” There’s more at the link, but you get the idea.
I only bring this up because it is something I hear all the time: “How can you claim to be a Christian and support Trump, with his womanizing history, rough language, mean tweets, etc.?” Even though I’ve repeatedly answered it, apparently, some people need to have it repeated regularly. So here is my response, and please bookmark it for future reference.
First, I’m sure that the world would be a much more peaceful, logical and better-run place if everyone was exactly like me, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. We all have to accept that people come in all different personalities and beliefs. I can’t demand that my plumber agree with me 100% on religious issues. I just need someone competent and trustworthy to fix my plumbing. That’s pretty much the way I view politicians. If I’m looking for someone competent for the job, and my choices are Trump or Joe Biden, it’s a no-brainer.
And as a Christian, I believe in concepts like forgiveness and redemption, so I don’t believe that some sin Trump committed 30 years ago should be held against him forever.
I also believe that the reason many liberals are constantly looking for “charismatic” leaders (JFK, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama) to swoon over (“Obama is the lightbringer! His inauguration signaled the moment when the rising oceans began to fall!”) is that having rejected traditional religion, they’re constantly looking to fill the spiritual hole in their souls with some earthly savior who’ll solve all their problems and “save the planet.” No thanks, I already have a Savior. Even if I didn’t, I certainly wouldn’t be looking for one among the current class of politicians.
Finally, I would turn the question around and ask Sen. Warnock, and all the hypocritical media figures who are trying to turn people’s religious beliefs against them, this question: “Isn't it a deep contradiction of your religious principles, or even morals in general, to continue to support today’s Democratic Party?”
I know there are good Christians who are lifelong Democrats, but I can’t help thinking that they haven’t been paying attention to the far-left, anti-God direction this party has taken. This is a party that’s actually fired up with glee at the idea that they can win elections by turning out people who think it should be legal to slaughter babies in the womb up to the moment of birth. That wants to put pro-life grandmothers in federal prison for up to 11 years for praying outside an abortion clinic. That coerces social media companies to shut down the speech of anyone who doesn’t bow down before their radical transgender aganda and putting LGBTQ porn in elementary schools. That argues that parents should have no rights to determine what’s taught to their children. That shut down churches and arrested pastors for holding services during the pandemic, but deemed liquor stores and strip clubs “essential businesses” that could remain open.
I could go on and on, but you get the point. I can explain how an Evangelical Christian could support Trump. What I can’t explain is how anyone with religious beliefs, a conscience or just a modicum of common sense and decency could support today's Democratic Party.
And to end on a lighter note, the Babylon Bee (a Christian satire site) reminds us of another reason to vote for Trump…
Food Recall Warning:
The FDA says that certain cantaloupes sold in October in 10 states and Canada may be tainted with salmonella. There have been no reports of illness so far, but in severe cases, it can be serious, even fatal. Please read the linked story for full information.
San Francisco gets a cleaning
California Gov. Gavin Newsom admitted that San Francisco was quickly scrubbed clean of homeless people, feces and drug needles because (as the Babylon Bee put it, “his boss”) Chinese President Xi Jinping, was coming to visit. Jennifer Oliver O’Connell at Redstate.com called it “Extreme Makeover: Homeless Edition.”
The quick cleanup has many San Francisco residents demanding to know why city officials have allowed them to suffer from all that filth and crime for years if they can clean it up in a couple of days for a communist dictator’s visit. They might also notice that fencing is being used to keep the homeless people out of downtown, and it actually works. They’d been told for years that walls are racist and don’t work (unless they’re around the gated communities where rich liberal politicians live.)
It's easy for us to mock San Franciscans for being shocked to learn that lawlessness can be stopped by enforcing laws. All it really takes is hiring police, putting criminals in jail, and – here’s the real secret – KEEPING THEM THERE. Or that filth can be ended by cleaning it up, then arresting people who deposit more of it. Or that while it's harder to solve homelessness, it can’t be solved by just letting people live anywhere they want, from sidewalks to parks to restaurant doorways.
For most of us, these are no-brainers. But try to understand: people in blue cities have lived under leftist corruption and incompetence for so long, they might not know that any other way of life is possible. They’re like hermits or college students who have no idea how to use a rotary phone because they’ve never seen one. Consider that the last Republican mayor of San Francisco left office in 1964. No wonder they have no concept of civic competence.
It's arguably even worse in Chicago, where no matter how bad things get, the voters keep electing ever-more-leftist Democrats (their last Republican mayor left office in 1931.) And just as in San Francisco, officials have made it clear that the safety and well-being of their own residents is their very bottom priority.
Recently, many black citizens in Chicago who were upset over all the public funds being spent on illegal immigrants made their views known to the City Council and their new, far-left black mayor. What they learned: (1.) Illegal immigration hurts poor black people the most, and (2.) leftist politicians, no matter what their skin color, couldn’t possibly care less.
Our government: so much to CENSOR, so little time (before the next election)
We talk a lot here about election interference, and not just the direct kind that might have happened with mail-in ballots on Election Day. Much of that interference --- perhaps the type that, overall, bore the most fruit in 2020 and likely affected the outcome --- has to do with the suppression of information that Americans deserve to know before casting their votes. And nowhere is this more obvious than with the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020. At that time, the government was working overtime to make sure you didn’t see it, or, if you did, that you quickly discounted it as “foreign disinformation.” This from the party that professes so loudly to care about “our democracy.”
Oh, they love democracy, all right, as long as they can game the system and manipulate enough voters to vote their way.
Even as the 2020 election recedes in our rear-view mirror, we’re able to piece together more of what was done then to censor needed information. This discovery comes to us thanks in large part to outside-government organizations such as Judicial Watch, whose Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests continue to bear fruit, as you’ll see below. And now there’s America First Legal, headed by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller, who has shown himself to be eminently worthy of The Second Trump Administration if that’s where he would like to be. Maybe as communications director/press secretary?
In late October, AFL filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging a “coordinated communication” and an unreported in-kind contribution to the Joe Biden presidential campaign and related entities in violation of federal law. This has to do with that bogus “classic earmarks” letter signed by 51 former U.S. intel officials, with the goal of censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 election.
“There are reasons to believe that the public statement by 51 former intelligence officials was a coordinated political operation to help elect Vice President Biden in the 2020 election...” the complaint reads.
The full complaint runs 13 pages with 110 pages of exhibits, stating that “the Biden for President Campaign in 2020, the Biden Victory Fund, the Democratic National Committee, and the Biden Action Fund should have reported on coordinating efforts” as in-kind donations.
It’s hard to say how the value of that letter to Biden’s campaign can even be determined. At the risk of sounding like a parody of the old MasterCard commercial, we’d say it’s...priceless.
As is now well known, that “classic earmarks” determination by the intel “experts” was completely bogus. In late 2019, a year before the letter was signed, the FBI had taken possession of Hunter’s laptop from computer shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac and were perfectly aware of what was on the hard drive. They had to know without a doubt that every disturbing entry was real. But it didn’t matter --- the officials who unquestioningly signed that letter hadn’t even seen the contents of the laptop. They did it to help Joe Biden win, perpetuating yet another hoax on the American people to interfere with an election.
As FOX NEWS reports, “The Obama administration officials who signed include former [CIA] Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence [DNI] James Clapper, and former CIA Director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. Former George W. Bush DNI Michael Hayden, a vocal Trump critic, also signed.” We would add the note of sad irony that both Brennan and Clapper, and additional signatory Paul Kolbe of the CIA, have recently been named by DHS Director Alejandro Mayorkas to a new intelligence “expert” board.
The complaint also mentions that Clapper and Panetta donated to the Biden Victory Fund and the Biden for President campaign in 2020.
Based on testimony from former CIA Deputy and Acting Director Mike Morell to the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, we know that then-Biden campaign adviser (now Biden’s Secretary of State) Tony Blinken spearheaded the effort to create this letter. Morell testified that he’d been recruited by Blinken to write the letter.
According to the Judiciary Committee, Morell also explained that Biden campaign manager Steve Ricchetti called him following the October 22 debate to thank him for writing it. (During the debate, Biden had played the letter up big, using it as evidence that the laptop story was “Russian disinformation” when he had to know it wasn’t.) “Morell also explained that the Biden campaign helped to strategize about the public release of that statement,” the committee said. “Morell further explained that one of his two goals in releasing the statement was to help then-[former] Vice President Biden in the debate and to assist hm in winning the election.” In other words, it was FOR THE CAMPAIGN.
This bogus letter was also used to provide cover for the censorship by Twitter and Facebook of the Hunter laptop story. Why, how could it not have been Russian disinformation when 51 intel experts had encouraged that conclusion?
Reed D. Rubenstein, senior counselor and director of oversight and investigations for America First Legal, concludes that we’re seeing a “pattern” of election meddling, citing intelligence officials’ failed attempt to help Hillary Clinton win in 2016 by lying about “Trump/Russia collusion.” (Recall examples such as Alpha Bank?)
As Rubenstein said, “The [FEC’s] charge includes election integrity --- Americans have the right to know who is coordinating with federal candidates. But this right is only as effective as the agency that enforces it. The FEC must act here.”
In other censorship news, thanks to yet another FOIA request, Judicial Watch has uncovered more government censorship through private entities, this time about COVID, as evidenced in dialogue between the Biden Surgeon General and Facebook in mid-2021. No wonder we can’t believe anything we hear from either the government or social media on this (or any other) subject.
In just 14 pages of conversation between U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and top FB executives, we see the path to stunning submission to the government by FB, as they sought “to better understand the scope of what the White House expects of us on misinformation going forward.”
Murthy enumerated several helpful suggestions for combating misinformation, such as focusing on addressing “misinformation in live streams, which are more difficult to moderate due to their temporary nature and use of audio and video.” Also, FB should “prioritize early detection of misinformation ‘super-spreaders’ and repeat offenders” and “impose clear consequences.” They also should “amplify communications from trusted messengers and subject matter experts” (presumably those agreeing with Dr. Fauci and the CDC).
It’s fascinating to read the correspondence between Murthy and Nick Clegg, VP of Communications and Global Affairs at Facebook, to see how Clegg diplomatically pushes back on some of this, saying they’re “partners in the same battle” but that he “thought the way we were singled out over the past few days has been surprising and misleading, and I believe unproductive to our joint efforts, too.” Still, Clegg later seems to have resolved his concerns and settled into his role as co-censor, later writing that he “wanted to make sure you saw the steps we took just this past week to adjust policies on what we are removing...as well as steps we are taking to address the ‘disinfo dozen’: we removed 17 additional Pages, Groups and Instagram accounts tied to the disinfo dozen...(resulting in every entry of the disinfo dozen having had at least one such entity removed.”
Aren’t you intrigued to know who the “disinfo dozen” were and what they were daring to say in their social media posts? Were they saying that masks didn’t stop the spread? That vaccines didn’t guarantee protection against infection and transmission? That COVID might have started in the Wuhan lab? That mRNA vaccines were experimental and might be dangerous to some? “Misinformation” like THAT?
Well, we looked them up and found them identified in an article from the FORBES archives that supported “removing their platforms.” (Not that the writer was calling for censorship, he said as he called for censorship.) The heretics included Dr. Joseph Mercola and (yes) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Ironically, if you want to see some REAL misinformation about COVID vaccines, read this now-horribly-dated FORBES article, which is rife with it, such as that the vaccines are “highly effective” and are “the only realistic way to end the pandemic.”
Anyway, Clegg later writes to Murthy about “how we can partner in this next push to vaccinate children.”
There’s much more to this; I hope you’ll read the Judicial Watch press release at the link. Tom Fitton, president of JW, said, “These emails confirm that Facebook censored Americans at the direction of the Biden White House and Biden’s Surgeon General’s political operation. This is a massive violation of the First Amendment.”
