Pearl Harbor Day
Today is Pearl Harbor Day. On December 7, 1941, prescienty declared by President Franklin Roosevelt to be a “date which will live in infamy,” Japan launched a sneak attack on the US Naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The surprised Americans fought back valiantly, but by the time it was over, 2,403 people were dead and America’s Naval fleet had suffered a devastating blow. It was the deadliest attack on the US until September 11, 2001, and it brought America into World War II.
So when you hear Democrats compare January 6th to Pearl Harbor and 9/11, remember not only how ridiculous that is, but how incredibly offensive it is to the memories of over 5,000 victims.
Here’s a great story about two survivors of the attack who recall what it was like and who returned for the 82nd anniversary because they wanted to honor their fallen comrades. As should we all on this day.

Today marks the two-month anniversary of the barbaric and deadly attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists. Israel is continuing to press its offensive in Gaza. IDF troops have the house of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar surrounded. They say they don’t know if he’s holed up there or has an underground bunker. But PM Netanyahu said that even if Sinwar managed to escape, “He can run, but we will get him.”
A 28-year-old farm worker from Thailand who was taken hostage said he and fellow hostages were held for 50 days in two underground rooms. They were given bread and two bottles of water a day, and taken at gunpoint to use the bathroom in a hole in the ground. He was punched and kicked while the Israeli hostages were whipped with electrical wires. He said, “I thought I would die.”
And yet, on Wednesday, Columbia University students held a protest defending the Hamas slaughter of Jewish civilians as a “Palestinian counteroffensive,” in defiance of the school’s efforts to shut the event down. I assume that anyone who is an administrator at Columbia University must have a fairly wide vocabulary, so have they ever heard the word, “expulsion”?
Here’s a narrative-buster for those Columbia students: While woefully ignorant young Americans blame Israel for the deaths of Palestinians that the Hamas terrorists are using as human shields, maybe they should ask some Palestinian refugees who they blame for their plight. It’s not the Jews.
They blame the Hamas government and Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, for launching the attack on Israel and starting this. It couldn’t get clearer than in these words from one Palestinian man at a UN shelter in Rafah:
“I want to convey a message to the Hamas government: May Allah take revenge on you…May Allah curse you and curse your father’s father and curse the one who brought you into the world. May Allah curse Yahya Sinwar. You son of a dog…You destroyed us.”
“The Incredible Shrinking GOP Debates”
Last night brought the fourth in what I’ve started thinking of as “The Incredible Shrinking GOP Debates.” It’s not just because the crowd of candidates was down to only four, but both the audience and the public interest are falling away like the leaves in autumn, which admittedly makes for a much better show.
Last night’s debate aired on the relatively obscure News Nation channel, which meant most people had to watch a livestream on Rumble, which kept cutting out. I can’t imagine that it drew more viewers than the “Hogan’s Heroes” reruns on MeTV. Most people have realized by now that, for better or worse, Trump is going to be the nominee and these debaters are just prepping for a future run or else auditioning for either a Trump cabinet post or, in Chris Christie’s case, a gig as a token Republican on CNN or MSNBC.
I won’t bother recapping it in detail, but Breitbart did a good job of liveblog commentary you can read through it all:

Otherwise, there was a lot of sniping and name-calling, like Christie attacking Trump by repeating bogus leftwing narratives (He’ll be a DICTATOR! He’ll be a convicted FELON!) and attacking the others for not attacking Trump enough. I started to suspect he’d shown up at the wrong party’s debate.
The most media attention went to Vivek Ramaswamy for making a veiled dig at Christie’s weight and for holding up a notepad while Nikki Haley was speaking, on which he’d written “NIKKI = CORRUPT." I couldn’t help thinking of Bugs Bunny standing next to Elmer Fudd and holding up a sign with pictures of a screw and a ball on it. Come to think of it, Vivek is sort of becoming the Bugs Bunny of the primary campaign.

I think the best summation of the debate came from a racially diverse group of Republican voters who watched it in Atlanta and held their own straw poll. Ramaswamy got five votes, DeSantis got two, Haley and Christie got one each, and Trump got 18 votes. Once again, Trump won the debate by refusing to show up. The others can call it cowardice if they want, but the longer these debates stumble on, the more it makes him look like a good decision maker.
Pray for the victims and their families
Please join me in offering prayers for the victims of a shooter yesterday on the University of Nevada-Las Vegas campus. The man opened fire inside the business school building, killing three people and critically wounding a fourth before being killed by police. He was later identified as a professor who had been rejected for a job by UNLV.
Before we even knew who he was or the circumstances of the shooting, Democrats were already calling for more gun control laws and background checks, and President Biden renewed his call for an assault weapons ban. None of which would have made any difference since a professor would have passed a background check, the campus was already a “gun-free zone,” and the shooter used a handgun, not an assault weapon.
But when you refuse to consider the real root causes of gun violence – societal breakdown, rejection of morality and God, mental illness, undermining of the traditional family, refusal to enforce existing laws – then you have nothing left but to keep stumping for your political agenda.
The latest from Washington
Yesterday, I gave kudos to House Speaker Mike Johnson for blocking an attempt to slip an extension of FISA’s government surveillance of Americans into the National Defense Authorization Act. I should have known that Republican resolve to stand up to the Deep State wouldn’t last even 24 hours. Johnson cut a deal with Chuck Schumer to put it back in. It was described by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as “a total sell-out of conservative principles and a huge win for the Democrats.”
And people still wonder why I support Trump?
Speaking of that, Republicans who thought that replacing Kevin McCarthy as Speaker would make a huge difference just got a shot of reality in the kisser. And now, they can celebrate not having McCarthy to kick around anymore, as he announced that he will resign at the end of December.

This means that until there’s a special election to fill his seat, the GOP’s already razor-thin majority will be reduced even further by one seat for McCarthy and one seat for George Santos, whom they voted to expel despite the fact that he has yet to be convicted of anything. If the Republicans keep this up, they’re likely to principle themselves right back into the minority before the next election even rolls around.
Unfortunately for them, the Democrats don’t have such suicidally high principles. They’ll even stand by Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and Bob Menendez if it keeps them in power. And the entire time they’re doing it, they’ll be accusing the Republicans of not sharing their high standards of integrity.
Wray once again maintains fiction while testifying under oath
With the avalanche of news that’s come in over the past few days, another frustrating testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee by FBI Director Christopher Wray almost slipped by without notice. Did you even bother to watch it on Tuesday?
All of Wray’s appearances are so predictable, they’re a bit reminiscent of the movie GROUNDHOG DAY. Every time, Wray goes into chambers to face well-deserved diatribes about his dismal performance in office --- almost as if he were a fellow member enduring the traditional but toothless ritual of censure --- and manages to squeak through by preposterously denying every confirmed allegation of abuse of power and praising the fine work of the good people under his command. Never mind what really has been going on under his command. And afterwards, things continue day-to-day exactly as before.
(We figure it’s Obama operative Lisa Monaco, the deputy director, who’s really in charge of the operation, anyway. Why don’t they ever get HER in there?)
But leave it to Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana to at least throw a big bucket of cold water on Wray. Kennedy pressed him on the issue of the Hunter Biden laptop, asking why the FBI refused to acknowledge that it was real. As you’re aware, they’d known this since acquiring it in late 2019 and yet kept it hidden away, arguably altering the course of history and not for the better. Throughout 2020, with the Trump impeachment involving Ukraine and continuing through the Trump-Biden election and beyond, they kept this knowledge to themselves.
During Wray's testimony, Kennedy asked him, "Why didn't the FBI just say, hey, the laptop's real? Why didn't you just tell everybody, 'The laptop's real. We're not vouching for what's on it, but it's real. This isn't a fiction.'"
Wray answered in his usual way --- so formulaic now that it has become a joke --- that the FBI has to be “careful” and can never comment on an ongoing investigation. He also denied that the FBI had worked with Twitter to suppress information about it, even though, thanks to the “Twitter Files,” we all have seen internal Twitter email evidence to the contrary and even have a good idea of how they went about their business skirting the Constitution.
“You’re the FBI,” Kennedy said to Wray. “You’re not part of the White House and part of Homeland Security. You’re not supposed to be political. You see all this controversy going on? Why didn’t the FBI say, ‘Time out, folks. We’re not getting to the middle of this, but the laptop’s real’”?
Wray answered: “Again, we have to be very careful about what we can say, especially in the middle of an election season, because that's precisely some of the problems that led to my predecessor's [James Comey’s] negative findings from the Inspector General.”
Ah, so the FBI kept quiet about the laptop because he didn’t want the Bureau to be accused of election interference.
But they did much more than keep quiet, which would have been bad enough. The intelligence committee took action. We would like to echo the opinion of Jim Hoft at the GATEWAY PUNDIT, who said back in July, after the House Ways and Means Committee issued a report on it, that the FBI had LIED to the American people about the laptop. If you’d like a memory refresher, here it is…

The FBI knew in November 2019 that not only was the laptop real, but it contained evidence of hundreds of crimes. A few months later, during a presidential debate between Biden and Trump, Biden used that sham letter signed by 51 ex-intelligence officials to continue the lie about the laptop, saying it was “Russian propaganda.”
The letter was organized by Antony Blinken, who later was appointed by Biden to be Secretary of State, and the Biden campaign, with the cooperation of 60 ex-intel officials. (Nine others gave their support anonymously.)
Now, THAT is election interference, my friends. Everyone involved in producing and signing the letter is guilty of it. And Wray still has the nerve to say the FBI was trying to AVOID interfering with the election. Current employees of the FBI did not sign, as that ironically might have been construed as electioneering (!), but they certainly knew that it was a lie and let that lie be told, no doubt to help ensure a particular election outcome.
Six months later, Hoft watched as Wray was sworn in and gave his testimony Wednesday. In Hoft’s words, “Wray just admitted under oath that the FBI deliberately allowed the ‘laptop is fake’ hoax to perpetuate during the first Trump impeachment on a Ukrainian phone call that mentioned Hunter Biden and then in the 2020 election cycle by remaining silent!
“Chris Wray and the FBI said NOTHING! How is that not interfering in an election?
“Yet, it appears that there was no objection from these officials when 50 intelligence experts labeled the situation as Russian propaganda and failed to correct that.”

So, there you have it. Wray, under oath, manages to twist a vivid example of election interference into an attempt NOT to commit election interference. Does he really think anyone’s going to buy this?
But it doesn’t matter. He lies, we know he lies, and he knows we know he lies. In the end, Wray goes back to his office, and once again, things continue day-to-day exactly as before. With the scope of officially-sanctioned election interference that took place in 2016 and 2020, can we even contemplate what’s in the works for 2024? It’s already started, with the apparently coordinated lawfare against candidate Trump during the upcoming election year. What else have they got up their sleeves? If that sounds paranoid, remember the words of science fiction writer Philip K. Dick: “Strange how paranoia can link up with reality now and then.”
RELATED: Speaking of coordinated lawfare against Trump, on Tuesday House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia launched an investigation into Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis’ alleged collusion with Nancy Pelosi’s “select” J6 Kangaroo Kommittee. Their letter to Willis starts out this way:
"The Committee on the Judiciary continues to conduct oversight of politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials. Although we were aware that your office had coordinated its politically motivated prosecutions with the Office of Special Counsel Jack Smith, we recently learned that your office also coordinated its investigative actions with the partisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol ('January 6 Select Committee'). Accordingly, we write to request documents relating to the investigative coordination between your office and the partisan January 6 Select Committee.”
These legislators decided to investigate after acquiring a letter from Willis dated December 17, 2021, to Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, making an “official request” for “congressional records that might be relevant to our criminal investigation,” including but “not limited to recordings and transcripts of witness interviews and depositions, electronic and print records of communications, and records of travel.'” It even offered that Willis and her staff “were eager to travel to Washington, D.C, to 'meet with investigators in person' and to receive these records 'any time' between January 31, 2022, and February 25, 2022.”
Recall that the J6 committee’s “investigation” was a totally one-sided partisan presentation full of cherry-picked, professionally edited and even fabricated evidence and rife with procedural abuses and due process violations, as the Judiciary Committee notes. Accordingly, the committee wrote to Chairman Thompson as well, seeking information pertaining to what he supplied DA Willis to aid her in what we all know this is, a blatantly partisan abuse of the legal system to take out Trump before the 2024 election.
The Judiciary Committee’s press release on this is recommended reading; it contains links to the full letters to both Willis and Thompson. This is just one more effort by the GOP-led committees to get us a better look behind the curtain, although I think by now, we all have a pretty good idea of what’s back there.

Gold bars from a "friend"
Gold bars found during a search of the home of New Jersey Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez have been confirmed as the property of a co-defendant accused of bribing Menendez with them. Authorities used records identifying the gold bars from when they were stolen during an armed robbery and later recovered.
But again, to repeat Sen. John Fetterman’s point: This guy is still in the Senate, but George Santos had to be expelled?
The Babylon Bee also noticed that Fetterman seems to be the only Democrat in DC who sees the hypocrisy...

A "slimy" lie
California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s father-in-law Kenneth Siebel is accusing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis of telling a “slimy” lie during their debate, when he recounted their conversation about Siebel moving to Florida from California to escape the crime, high taxes and all the other things so many people are moving out of California to escape. Siebel said he lived in California for decades, but then he moved to Montana, and he’d actually moved to Florida from Montana.
Siebel said, “I don’t tolerate liars, and he lied. I found it despicable that he knew he was lying to make a point.”

I don’t know if he was lying or just got bad information. It is unfortunate if he got it wrong, but that still doesn’t answer two key questions:
1. Why did Siebel move out of California for Montana?
2. If he can’t tolerate liars, particularly people who lie to score a point during a debate, did he not listen to ANYTHING his son-in-law said?
Funding "misinformation" research
Sen. Ted Cruz is demanding information from the State Department, FBI, CISA and the National Science Foundation about a reported $66 million they funneled to “nonprofits” and academic institutions for “misinformation research.” Or as the rest of us know that, a backhanded attempt to get around the First Amendment by farming out censorship of Americans’ free speech to non-governmental entities.
Related good news: House Speaker Mike Johnson blocked an attempt to slip an extension of FISA’s government surveillance law into the National Defense Authorization Act. It’s bad enough that taxpayers unknowingly funded deep state spying on citizens, we don’t need to keep doing it and call it “defense spending.”
A Bad News for EVs Round-up
I haven’t run a round-up of bad news about electric vehicles since Monday, and it’s Wednesday, so the stories are already backing up like traffic behind an EV with a dead (or flaming) battery. Just to clear it out, here are a couple of them…
China’s GWM (Great Wall Motors) is recalling its Ora EVs due to what they call a “programming issue.” If the user disconnects the charging cable before shutting down the charging system, it could create a powerful electrical arc that could fry him like a shrimp. Yeah, I’d say that’s an “issue.”
Hertz is scaling back its inventory of Tesla EVs and the European rental giant Sixt SE is getting rid of them entirely. They cite high repair costs and lower resale values.
I suspect the real problem is lack of customer interest in renting an EV. Think about it: most car rentals are because you’re traveling. You’re in an unfamiliar city and don’t know where any charging stations are. Then you have to return it fully charged or be charged yourself. You have two hours before your plane’s departure, and you’re going to use it searching for a charging station and maybe finding there’s an hour’s wait to get to a charger and another hour to charge it up? You don’t have time to sit around for hours, reading the profound thoughts of Greta Thunberg; you’ve got a plane to catch!
I don’t think EV advocates who are baffled by consumer resistance take into account just how bad long charging times are. Most Americans rely on their cars because they need to be places as soon as possible (the same reason there’s also little demand for passenger trains.) We have jobs and commitments, and we need to fill up the tank in five minutes and get to them. That’s easy to miss if you’re a leftist politician or eco-activist, because, trust me: nobody’s hoping you’ll hurry up and arrive.
