Today will mark the final meeting of the House January 6^th Kangaroo Kommittee. They’re expected to issue their final (1,000-page!) report and call on the DOJ to file criminal charges against former President Trump and some of his allies, despite having met for months and not produced a scrap of their long-promised ironclad evidence that anyone actually did anything illegal. 

Of course, as Bonchie at Redstate.com points out, lack of evidence doesn’t matter to the Biden DOJ. This has all been a long, coordinated effort to indict Trump for something to try to stop him from running for President again, and it’s virtually a certainty that they’re going to do it.

Rep. Andy Biggs, who refused to cooperate with the Kommittee, said that it “operates with the same kind of bias present at the Salem witch trials. Everyone is guilty and must demonstrate their innocence."

As if that weren’t obvious from the get-go, the advance release of the report’s Table of Contents suggests that despite their alleged mission of identifying security problems that led to the riot and preventing future security breaches, it appears that almost no space is given to those issues. Every chapter heading except the last focuses on Trump.

Of far more interest to me is the news that House Republicans will be releasing their own alternative report, partly written by the GOP members selected by Minority Leader McCarthy for the January 6^th Kommittee but barred by Speaker Pelosi.

Liberal media outlets are already trying to dismiss the GOP report before it even appears (“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!!”), with Axios sniffing that its writers are just a “shadow committee” and not a legitimate committee. News flash: Pelosi’s Kangaroo Kommittee gave up any pretense of legitimacy from the moment she rejected the members that its founding legislation required be chosen by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and replaced them with two of her own hand-picked quislings. As McCarthy said, "It’s the most political and least legitimate committee in American history. It has used congressional subpoenas to attack Republicans, violate due process and infringe on the political speech of private citizens."

This alternative report is said to include many of the things that Pelosi’s Kommittee was supposed to investigate and ignored, including her own role in failing to provide proper security, the inadequate training of the Capitol Police, and the FBI’s intelligence-gathering operations.

It’s assumed that with the GOP taking power next month, today will mark the blessed end of this two-year great white whale hunt. However, it’s possible that the new Congress will create a new, and legitimate, committee that will dig further into issues such as FBI involvement and the killing of unarmed protester Ashli Babbitt by a Capitol cop. If so, then watch for refusing to comply with House Committee subpoenas to switch overnight from a prison-level federal offense to a courageous act of principle.
