San Francisco School Board Recalled

There’s plenty of bad news to get to, but I want to start your day off with something positive: Tuesday, voters in San Francisco turned out in force and overwhelmingly voted to recall three school board members -- school board President Gabriela López, Vice President Faauuga Moliga and Commissioner Alison Collins – who have been pushing divisive leftist politics, like renaming schools named after George Washington and Abe Lincoln (because they’re RACIST!), and keeping schools shut down endlessly over COVID.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/san-francisco-recalls-school-board-members-clear-message

The bad news is that Mayor London Breed gets to appoint their replacements, and who knows what kind of leftist wingnuts she’ll come up with. But maybe she got the message. She praised the parents for standing up for their children and said, "The voters of this city have delivered a clear message that the school board must focus on the essentials of delivering a well-run school system above all else." Besides, whoever she appoints will have to run for election in November, so they will face quick judgement by the voters if they don’t turn the schools around fast.

I hope everyone is inspired by this story to double down and work extra hard for change in the November elections. Many Democrats dismissed the recall effort, calling it a waste of time and money (“How dare you challenge our power, peasants?!”) But the people had the last word, and they shouted it from the rooftops. This might just be a local school board election, but it should throw a bolt of terror into so-called “progressives” across the nation to see that they’re so unpopular that they just got kicked to the curb in one of the most leftwing cities in America. Imagine how the elections in swing districts could go.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/stacey-lennox/2022/02/15/republicans-hold-a-massive-13-point-lead-on-a-generic-ballot-dont-underestimate-their-ability-to-blow-it-n1559421

But don't get complacent, get fired up. And Republicans who do get elected had better listen to the people and deliver, or they might find themselves sitting in the needle-filled gutter with those former San Francisco school board members.

One "connected" law firm represents most Durham targets

Yesterday, we promised to delve deeper into the law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, which represents Michael Sussmann and was the reason for Special Counsel John Durham’s filing last week. The matter of Sussmann’s representation hasn’t received much attention yet, but needs to.

Durham was notifying the judge of potential conflicts of interest generated by Latham, as the firm represents an amazing array of others who might be called as witnesses or possibly indicted. This firm happens to have previously represented both Perkins Coie and Marc Elias in the Durham investigation. As Durham alleges, Latham “likely possesses confidential knowledge about Perkins Coie’s role in, and views concerning, Sussmann’s past activities.”

Latham also represents both the Clinton campaign and Hillary for America. What are the odds?

Interestingly, one of the partners at Latham is...(drum roll, please)...Liz Cheney’s husband, Philip Perry.

https://newarkdailytimes.com/2022/02/13/liz-cheneys-husband-is-partner-at-latham-watkins-which-works-on-behalf-of-companies/

Jake Sullivan, who appears to be the odd man out –- not represented by Latham but by attorney Brian Stekloff of Wilkinson Stekloff in DC –- is not currently under indictment but might have lied under oath to the House Intel Committee, at the very least.

https://justthenews.com/accountability/russia-and-ukraine-scandals/latest-durham-revelations-put-bidens-national-security

Let’s look back at what Latham was doing for the Democrat Party in December of 2020. As Jerry Dunleavy reported for the Washington Examiner, “The Democratic National Committee’s legal team, bolstered by Obama’s White House lawyers, moved to dismiss a lawsuit from onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, arguing the ‘gist’ of British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s controversial dossier was true.”

The attorneys argued that the “allegedly defamatory statements” against Page were “substantially true” and “are capable of an innocent construction.” I have a question: do attorneys really get to lie with such impunity and still not get disbarred? Answer: Yes! At least these lawyers do.

But here’s where it gets more interesting. Quoting from Dunleavy’s piece: “The DNC legal team, comprised of five lawyers from Latham & Watkins, including lead counsel Terra Reynolds, former Obama deputy White House counsel Nicholas McQuaid, and former Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler, claimed, “The statements at issue in this case are not merely susceptible of an innocent construction –- they relate to business and political contacts that Page himself indisputably cultivated in Russia.”

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/obama-white-house-lawyers-fight-carter-pages-dnc-lawsuit-by-defending-gist-of-steele-dossier

Aside from the fact that Page’s lawsuit states that he had never met with those contacts and that IG Horowitz had already noted the lack of evidence that he did, do you notice anything in particular about the above paragraph? The legal team from Latham & Watkins defending the DNC includes two big-time members of Obama’s own team.

In fact, Kathryn Ruemmler was Obama’s longest-serving White House counsel and has been known for years in DC circles as his “fixer.” She’s the one Obama praised for her ability to “see around corners.”

So, now we’ve got Hillary Clinton and her machine being investigated by the special counsel, and most are being represented by the law firm that employed Obama’s “fixer” as a top attorney. Ruemmler had even been mentioned as a possible successor to Eric Holder when he stepped down as Obama’s attorney general, but she withdrew her name from consideration, saying her close friendship with Obama might make the confirmation process “difficult.”

Here’s a look back at Ruemmler from 2014, as profiled by Latham & Watkins. She has a long history with the Clintons, too, serving as associate White House counsel to Bill Clinton, where she was busy “defending the White House against independent counsel and congressional investigations.”

https://www.lw.com/news/kathryn-ruemmler-to-rejoin-latham-05202014

Sidney Powell has had her eye on Ruemmler for a long time. This piece from 2018 places Obama’s “fixer” among the female “triumverate” surrounding him: Ruemmler, Lisa Monaco and Susan Rice.

https://dailycaller.com/2018/03/01/reunited-and-it-feels-so-swampy-obamas-three-muses-reappear-in-muellers-trump-investigation/

Ruemmler and Monaco go back to the Enron case, working under Andrew Weissmann, all three of whom were implicated in prosecutorial misconduct, as Powell detailed in her book LICENSE TO LIE. Ruemmler hid exculpatory evidence in that case, and almost all the convictions were overturned.

By the way, guess where Lisa Monaco is now? No, she’s not at Latham. But she’s got the DOJ covered, as she is second in command there. Since April 21, 2021, she’s been Merrick Garland’s deputy attorney general. And we wonder why only Republicans are ever held accountable.

Also, guess who Nicholas McQuaid is? This colleague of Hunter Biden's defense attorney Christopher Clark moved from Latham to the DOJ the day Biden took office, named as acting Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division. Sen. Chuck Grassley noticed...

https://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/news-releases/on-day-one-biden-installed-law-partner-of-sons-defense-lawyer-at-doj-criminal-division

As for Ruemmler, she’s been back and forth over the years between the White House and Latham. After just weeks of being back at Latham, she was defending...(another drum roll, please)...the Clinton Foundation.

She’s not currently at Latham or the White House. She’s Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Goldman Sachs, after joining in 2020 as a partner. It's not known if she’s taking any role in the defense of Durham’s targets.

On Monday, Sussmann’s defense filed a six-page response to Durham’s filing of last Friday, formally waiving Sussmann’s potential conflicts of interest. (No doubt the others being represented by Latham will do this same.) It complains loudly about Durham’s tactic of using “speaking indictments” to include allegations they don’t consider relevant to the charged offense (that is, lying to the FBI), saying the media coverage he’s generating might “taint the jury pool.”

Considering most media are hardly even covering the story, at least so far, that concern might be a tad overblown. But Margot Cleveland does see that changing as the media gradually start covering it. Her analysis of this new filing by Sussmann’s attorneys is a must-read.

https://thefederalist.com/2022/02/15/what-we-learned-from-michael-sussmanns-response-to-the-spygate-special-counsel/

Attorneys' characterization of Durham’s filing as “inflammatory” and “political” gives Democrats all the excuse they need not to even look at his allegations.

Cleveland’s previous analysis, made after Durham’s filing but before Sussmann’s attorneys responded, asks some good questions. In light of our general topic today, legal representation, note in particular #5-8. Especially #8: “Why the swamp is so swampy.”

https://thefederalist.com/2022/02/14/8-more-intrigues-inside-the-latest-special-counsel-filings/

You can bet the various defendants represented by Latham will, like Sussmann, waive any concerns about conflict of interest. If one does, they all will. Then the court has the option of accepting those waivers or not.

When a real reporter for the U.K. Daily Mail actually did a journalist’s job and dared to ask Hillary about Durham’s filing, she walked by saying nothing. I assume her attorneys have advised her not to comment.

Finally...

LAUGH OF THE DAY

Here’s an especially hilarious excerpt from the piece by The New York Times’ national security and legal policy correspondent Charlie Savage on why not to bother covering the Durham story:

“[Durham’s narratives] tend to involve dense and obscure issues, so dissecting them requires asking readers to expend significant mental energy and time --- raising the question of whether news outlets should even cover such claims.”

Duh, we’re just too stooo-pid, and it’s haaaaaard! We’d love to ask Margot Cleveland what she thinks about this! Here’s what Spencer Brown at Townhall had to say…

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/spencerbrown/2022/02/15/oh-so-this-is-why-the-new-york-times-didnt-cover-this-weeks-durham-bombshell-n2603300

Russia-Ukraine Invasion Story

The Russia-Ukraine invasion story still involves more “Will he or won’t he?” than stories about Trump’s presidential plans. Russia is putting out stories about Putin sending troops home and pulling out tanks, but the leader of NATO says they’ve seen no withdrawal of Russian forces. Those stories could just be propaganda to throw Putin’s adversaries off-guard. If so, then congratulations: they’ve finally found an actual, verifiable example of “Russian disinformation.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/russia-withdraws-troops-ukraine-border-scoffs-bidens-hysteria-potential-invasion/

Often-conflicting reports are coming in regularly, so Fox News has set up a page with continually-updated news. You can check it out here:

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/russia-ukraine-biden-putin

While it’s not clear whether Putin will invade Ukraine or not, one thing that is certain is that he’s in the driver’s seat. He obviously has no fear of the US. He knows we have a weak leader who announced in advance that he won’t send troops to fight or protect Americans. He’s not afraid of sanctions because so many of the nations that oppose him need Russian oil (thanks, Joe!) All he has to do is decide whether he could gain more with less sacrifice by invading or withdrawing.

To understand his thinking, you have to remember that he’s a former KGB leader who admired Stalin and believed in the old Soviet Union. He also believes it will be rebuilt, hence his designs on Ukraine. Stalin’s philosophy was that you push your bayonet forward. As long as you encounter mush, you keep pushing. If you hit steel, you stop and pull back. So far, all Putin has encountered is a sea of mush.

Just like any bully, he’s spotted in Biden a target that’s most likely to hand over his lunch money without him even having to swing his fist. Now he’s deciding whether it’s worth the trouble of taking a swing to try to get his dinner money, too. Will he settle for a lot of concessions and pull back, or take Ukraine? But you’ll notice that in all of these stories, the big question is, “What will Putin do?” not “What will the US President do?” Nobody’s looking to Biden as the decisive factor in shaping events. And that’s a dangerous position for the US and all our allies.

CNN Fail

This…is CNN! In the new twist, the New York Times says it's been claimed that Chris Cuomo was actually fired because a female ABC news temp worker accused him of attacking her when she denied his proposition for sex after he invited her to a “lunch” in his office, and she discovered there was no food. She reportedly decided to come forward because she was “disgusted” by the similarities between what allegedly happened to her and the accusations against Cuomo’s brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, that Chris was helping him deal with.

https://nypost.com/2022/02/16/chris-cuomo-fired-after-cnn-learned-of-alleged-sex-attack-during-office-lunch-report/

Also, Allison Golust, the CNN executive with whom former boss Jeff Zucker was having a relationship that he resigned over, has herself resigned from the network. This follows an investigation of violations of corporate policies related to the tangled relationship between CNN, Chris Cuomo and his brother, Andrew.

https://instapundit.com/503795/

Golust reportedly emailed her staff that WarnerMedia’s statement about her leaving was an attempt to retaliate against her to “change the media narrative in the wake of their disastrous handling of the last two weeks.”

Sounds as if she might know even more and be of a mind to spill it. If it’s anything like what’s come out so far, I don’t know if I want to see any more of this piñata of ethical sewage. Apparently, I’m far from the only one who’s had enough of CNN.

https://thepostmillennial.com/cnn-hits-historic-lows

That story reports that CNN’s ratings are hitting historic lows. Fox News is pulling a 385% bigger audience in prime time. And CNN’s highest-rated show, “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” draws fewer viewers than the History Channel’s “Ancient Aliens.” Which is far more believable.

6. Ottawa Police Chief Resigns

One week after claiming he had no plans to resign, Ottawa’s police chief announced his resignation.

https://www.westernjournal.com/breaking-ottawa-police-chief-resigns-canadas-freedom-convoy-protest-persists/

Chief Peter Sloly has been under fire from both sides for being too harsh in dealing with the truckers’ freedom protesters, and for not being harsh enough.

I assume that those who think imposing martial law to crack down on peaceful freedom protesters isn’t harsh enough are in agreement with the latest attempt by the leftwing media to redefine the word “freedom” as a “meaningless” term that has “thrived among far-right groups.” They are absolutely terrified of people demanding their basic human freedoms back from an out-of-control leftist government, so they're trying to tar the very concept of freedom.

https://pjmedia.com/vodkapundit/2022/02/14/experts-freedom-is-fascism-n1559040

While I still have the freedom to laugh at them, I’ll point out how hilarious it is that this fascistic propaganda is described as coming from “experts.” Experts at what, pray tell? Certainly not the writings of George Orwell, or they would realize how much their blather sounds like Big Brother in “1984” declaring that “War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength!”

The only way I want to see 1984 come to life today is in the sense that in 1984, voters in America came to their senses and reelected Ronald Reagan by a historic 49-state landslide.

7. A Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Criminal investigators are still looking into the deadly shooting by Alec Baldwin on the set of the movie “Rust,” but the family of the victim, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has already filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin and others. Baldwin was not only holding the gun but was a producer of the film, sharing responsibility for ensuring the prop guns were safe.

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/alec-baldwin-courtroom-rust-wrongful-death-lawsuit-legal-experts

At the link are more details of the case and opinions from legal experts. The consensus is that it’s unlikely to go to trial. Most such cases are settled out of court, and it would be especially bad for Baldwin if he was hit with criminal charges while this was in court.

Three cheers for the San Francisco voters. What a woke travesty. Nice that it's OK to be George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

Can you also review the NY case and the attorney's defense: "It’s per se invalid,” Habba said of the investigation. “It doesn’t matter if they find all sorts of incriminating evidence.”
“The evidence is irrelevant,” Habba said at another point
Habba pointed to repeated negative comments James made about Trump while campaigning for attorney general, which included vowing to investigate him for things such as money laundering.

Governor Huckabee, thanks for your honest and enlightening reports. What I do not understand is why the Biden administration is allowing the Durham investigation to continue and result in indictments. Surely since they run everything, they can stop this investigation. Why are they throwing Hillary Clinton under the bus?

Putin is a bully? As in Vladimir Putin, over in Russia? Why the hate on Putin? What's Putin ever done to us? Despite having been maligned for four years it's become pretty obvious that he's got nothing to do with "Election Interference." That would be a certain Stalinist named "Clinton." He didn't unleash a plague on the world, resulting in the ruling elite political class engaging in the unilateral revocation of our God-given human rights in their effort to instituted of the radical globalist crown ushering in their neo-fascist Orwellian New World Order. That would be "White Rage" Miley's BFFs over in the CCP. Putin didn't spend the last two years silencing dissenting opinions and abusing American children to foist a mindset of blind, fear-laden obedience and abject co-dependence on the government on an entire generation. Russia pointing ICBMs at America would be less damaging than what the elites are doing to it from within. Focus on the bayonet-wielding madmen here, and let the Ukraine and Russia manage their own affairs. And get rid of NATO, the UN, the WHO, the WEF, and every other alphabet soup agency comprised of the Unelected Globalist Elite while you're at it.

Very informative stuff on here. I have challenged several RINOs, Jaime Butler here in Washington is one. Dan Crenshaw another. She told Joe the state could take many illegals.
I understand many Republicans want more illegals as they ship them to companies for cheap labor.
Many, like me respect the law and the Constitution. Not the grifters in the capital.
Like a scene out of the old horror movies. The peasants organize the vampire and his castle.

I knew they were evil, but unreal at all the evil they went to. I hope justice is done. What they did to President Trump and his family and staff should put them under.
