“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

Dear Governor, I agree violence is Not acceptable. I am not a confrontational person, but I applaud all those people who went to Washington to protest the election. It’s time the Democrats realize that 75 million people are not going to stand with trashing the constitution, breaking election laws. The leaders on the Democrats side got up on the floor after the violence and did nothing but criticize the President. The Republicans talked about duty, and the law. It is all the Democrats fault and they are responsible what ever happens in this country.

Thank you for being so honest. I'm wondering if some of these people might not have been Republicans
There is enough bad news that they are going to crucify our President. I was sure God would change it but guess he has other plans.

Govener Huckabee, I beleive that our POTUS is under a great deal of pressure that none of us can even fathom...that could very well could have been the reason in that moment for him to put the pressure on Mr.Pence...perhaps out of despair...after all he has never faced anything quite like this...I also believe that it's not only his position as the POTUS that is his concern right now... as much as it is for the people of this country...I also think when he told the crowd to remain peaceful it was for their protection to prevent further outbursts so everyone could leave safely...thinking that was not the time to condem the violence that had taken place...doing so at that time perhaps could have made things worse.

Love reading your morning and evening editions...you are one of the few we can trust in what we are reading...I appreciate you for that.
    Regards ,

Mr . Mike Huckabee those were not President Trump supporters they were BLM and ANTIFA..so please dont blame this on the patriot supporters of President Donald J. Trump.

    Governor,
While I am absolutely livid over all of this, I am reminded God is still in charge, and He hears, and Sees, and there will be a day of reckoning for all of us. We could breathe easier with President Trump,,...and now we have to be subjected to a 'leader' that feels he is supreme over us deplorable poor people and plausible deniability clears him of all that has happened.
While this is all true , Psalms 37(acrostic) tells us the wicked will not get away with the evilness
    that surrounds us [my words].
Thanks for listening to my venting

The unrest and (limited) violence in DC has served its (intended, IMO) purpose: to deflect attention from the airing of legitimate grievances, and instead further denigrate Trump's image - and that of his supporters - in the public eye such that support for contesting the "legitimate" results of the election is politically untenable. I am reasonably sure that those who perpetrated and instigated non-peaceful protest were, at least in the most extreme cases, "plants." There appears to be some evidence - unlikely to be widely proliferated - that a number of participants had also taken part in previous demonstrations - in league with Antifa and BLM - and that their social media postings reflect left wing ideology. See, for example, https://mobile.twitter.com/s_pshipp830/status/1346942311939203074

At this point, even if it were conclusively proved that every member of the mob that invaded the Capitol was a card-carrying Antifa member, it would be too late. Biden is confirmed. Mission accomplished. Like the election, there is nothing that can be done about it now.

Earlier I heard reports that ANTIFA members were handing out money to certain people in the crowd to riot and to cause chaos. That was not Trump supporters...

ANTIFA BROUGHT IN BY THE DEMS STARTED THE TROUBLE, THEY NEEDED SOMETHING TO USE TO MAKE US FORGET ALL THE CHEATING IN THE ELECTION, WE WON'T FORGET.

actually the violence was perpetrated by antifa, not Trump supporters...the people involved were caught on photos which resulted in facebook identification by people working at America Stands, the program I was watching at the time

If the Democrats succeed in gaining control of the House, Senate, and the presidency at this time in our history, I would be most surprised if an originalist constitutional minded Republican ever again gets into the office of president. I don't think I would see it happen. I am almost 73 years old and a military veteran. Biden winning the presidency is clearly fraudulent in my view.

I am very sad and disappointed at our President's reaction to today's crisis. I am sorry to see him leave office with such a stain on his legacy. I believe he has done a splendid job on important issues while in office which may be overshadowed by this current event.
I thank God for you, Mike Huckabee.... You're like the voice of John the Baptist crying

There is no rule of law. The democrats have eliminated it. When do we rise up and say enough? We are ok with killing thousands of babies. I am a fifty year old mom who has never even had a speeding ticket and love Jesus. And I see that either we say enough and split or we will never be free again. If there was rule of law the courts would have heard the cases for election fraud. We keep giving up more and more freedom. Our forefathers of the revolution would be appalled at what we say we should take. I believe if we dont say enough now we will not have christian schools or home schooling in a couple years. There will not be an election where republicans can get elected we have already seen that is the case. Communism is coming it is time to say NO or go to jail for having any different opinion

As a Canadian and a follower of Christ, I have been appalled at the persecution of Donald Trump, jerk that he is. If I were an American, I would have voted for him. As a Canadian, I realize that this new direction the US is heading in will be catastrophic for all of us on both sides of the border. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were "provocateurs" pretending to be Trump supporters heading up the insurgency this afternoon. It certainly would fit their pattern for the last 4 years.

But I must say that President Trump has performed very poorly since the election, especially in the last two weeks or so. The horses have taken advantage of the open barn door, as have the Democrats, and they are long gone. we might say, "God, Help us!" But maybe it is part of God's plan - to finally punish the US and Canada for our descent into deep depravity as nations. So, instead, I will say, God, help us withstand the challenges ahead, and keep our faith strong.

Wow I am so surprised that you are so quick to blame President Trump for what happened today. Did you not see all the supporters behind those people. Do you always think the worse before you get all the facts. I am sadden by the amount of people like you that have so quickly turned you back on our President. It sure is a sad day in the United States today. What is united about this country.

I am disgusted with the riot. I am not sure it was not substantially aided by NTIFA and other left wing agitators. The Dems certainly did absolutely nothing to stem their riotor throughout the US. In fact, by my reckoning the fools were significantly encouraged. Let us take a good honest look at Seattle, Portland, Lost Angeles (sic), Chicago, and the other Marxist-run cities!

And now we see people so angered by all of it that they violate the base anti violence policy of their own ideology by storming the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.. ?? I understand the motivation behind it; but I most deeply regret that people failed to control their frustration and anger, and focus it on legal, peaceful ways to fight back.

How could that be done? How should that be done? It could and should be done at the STATE level. That is the rotten foundation from which this socialist takeover of the US federal government has grown. Democrat mayors and governors have been in place for decades in most of the cities and states where the fraudulent vote counting occurred. That is the root system that must be attacked, with votes, not violence, over the coming years.

It could and should be done in the school systems, from K-12, and at colleges across the country, by parents who believe in and value traditional American values. They need to get heavily involved in the selection of teachers, as well as the design of the curriculum at the educational institutions that are filling the minds of their children with socialist ideology, and anti American propaganda. Simultaneously, they have to get involved in detailed discussions with their children about what is being taught at their schools; and join or create organized protest against the brainwashing that has been taking place in US education system for decades.

It could and should be done by using their hands and feet to turn off and walk away from the socialist themed messages in their "entertainment" venues, which are delivered by the TV and movie producers, writers, directors and actors; as well as by the mostly minority element among professional athletes. Denying those people money is the only weapon to use in that effort. Expose those who push the anti American propaganda, and join or create boycotts against their products, whatever those may be.

Those are the answers. Violence is not. The crude, angry, rabble rousing rhetoric of Donald Trump is not. But I don't see people of influence, people with the ability to deliver that message, and to lead those efforts, rising to do so. Without such voices; without such leadership; the USA will continue to deteriorate under the socialist regime which now controls the federal government. The disenfranchised traditional Americans will continue to lose their tempers. The nation will deteriorate toward a state of anarchy, which will only be controlled by totalitarian force, and the abolishment of laws ensuring individual freedoms. That is the America that lies ahead.

Mike. I like your commentary. This was the result of increasing lack of trust in our elected officials. When elected leaders don't even act like they want to take necessary action or due diligence, how do we continue to cope? Election fraud, 2020 and 2016 (still no one has been held responsible and the DOJ is worthless), corrupt politicians and their families selling out our country, a corrupt FBI and CIA, and state governments taking advantage of citizens and lying to our faces while they do whatever they want. Some people have had enough and it seems we can't take out country back by voting as that institution is now rigged. It's a tough situation. A tiger can only be backed into a corner for so long until it decides to try to fight it's way out.

Violence is unacceptable. Protesters want and need their voice heard. Frustrated intelligent people cannot move forward without an investigation. There will be no unity and they will never follow China Biden. Investigate voter fraud, media’s influence, and pull the reins in on high tech companies. Civil war is coming and 80 million people like myself are watching. Make a move to protect the constitution.
