“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

I agree. We as conservatives are better than that. We have morals and believe in the Constitution. But, with that said, we are also tired of the double standard we see. We are tired of all the lockdowns. We are tired of Democrat run cities being overtaken by riots, looting and homelessness, and the incompetent leadership doing nothing. No matter how this goes, I have grave concerns for this country and don’t know how we get back to civility. Thanks that God is in control.

I watched the protests the entire day and found that 99% of the participants in the protest were PEACEFUL just expressing concern about what is happening in this country. If these issues are not addressed, I fear this will just be the beginning. I do not for one moment condone the violence. It destroys the credibility of the group’s mission.

My heart broke today. I was in tears, as I saw our Republic crumble. I am a 100% P&T Disabled Veteran! So many of us gave so much and some gave all to preserve our nation and all its freedoms. Today, I saw that all crumbling. I agree with President Trump. I read what Lin Wood said about our VP, was really surprised and shocked by it and thought "time will soon tell." Sadly, that seemed to be what was happening today, but I am hoping that he will still prove Lin wrong.

Is it any coincidence that the people peacefully waving American & Trump flags outside the capital, looked nothing like the people on the inside with their faces covered. carrying backpacks, smashing windows etc. ? If I had seen the footage of inside the Capital (minus the Trump flags) I would have guessed they were Antifa and the crew that ruined Portland for many months. PS: I guess they could get the flags anywhere. They were probably handed out for free at the morning rally. PLEASE DON"T USE MY NAME, THANK YOU!

Please don’t blame our president for not issuing a stronger statement. He said, “NO VIOLENCE” - His supporters understand that he is ABSOLUTELY AGAINST VIOLENCE. Every single rally has been peaceful & respectful. It leads me to wonder who these people are who breached the capital building.

Congress woman Michelle Bauchmann was in the capital the whole time. She feels like it is a coup! Political theater! There was a huge momentum shift against Pres. Trump! Must pray!

    Dear Governor Huckabee,
Like you I am an American who deeply cares for our country. I am a medically retired (from injuries incurred during an on the job shooting) California Highway Patrolman. I am proud of our nation and my President and looked forward to what should have been a historic day.
Sadly, today's events will forever be burned into American history. We started the day watching our President give a very powerful speech which by itself would have been monumental had it not been diminished by the animalistic actions of a few individuals.
Like most of our country, I watched the unfolding events in silence and disbelief. While stunned, my powers of observation came into play. Those fiends that invaded our capitol and physically confronted my fellow brothers in Law Enforcement were there solely to make our President look guilty of insurrection. I believe that this is without debate. However, there are a few other critical viewpoints that I would like to touch on.
First, how did that group get to the capitol building wearing "antifa style" helmets and using professional plastic shields so quickly after the speech?
Secondly, the initial mob attack outside was a classic attack straight out of antifa's playbook as was their technique of breaching the building.
Thirdly, why did the capitol police, as well as the capitol security, appear totally unprepared for the assault and then roll over and play dead during the first hour of the attack?
And, sadly number four. Was lethal force truly justified as no weapons were observed on or used by the invaders?
I strongly believe that “IF” a full impartial investigation is conducted and the attacker are identified and prosecuted, it will come out that they were there on behalf and under direction of antifa. Whatever the outcome of today’s events, I grieve for our nation and the other God fearing Americans.
Stay safe Sir and please continue the good fight to save our nation.
    Sincerely,
    Paul Bristow

    Good Evening Gov. H.
Respectfully disagree with you on Mr. Pence's actions. Think it is beyond doubt that there was fraud in at least six states, PA, MI, WI, AZ, NV and GA. There is too much information and evidence out there to support it. So, if Mr. Pence has the Constitutional prerogative to send those electoral votes back to the states involved, that should be the course of action.
Depending upon the poll consulted, anywhere from 39 to 50% (or more) of the electorate, including up to 30% of the Democrats, believe the election at the Presidential and possibly including some senate seats were, in fact stolen.
What dismays and upsets millions of people is the realization that government at all levels has failed them in that all the evidence has never been given a fair hearing. This is not the recipe for civil unity.
If the people have no or very little faith in government institutions that should exist to serve the people, what recourse do to have??
The Republicans, in the minds of many, are more upsetting then the Democrats, because they are also going along with and accepting illegitimate election and are also part of the problem.
So, what can all of those who see this as a crime against the American People do? Please, someone tell me.
Unless all the evidence is presented, the country will remain in turmoil.

Antifa was responsible for violence. The Media did not say that Antifa was there. There were other references to them, and that the woman who was shot and died was with Antifa.

Don't think it was all Trump supporters that got into the Capital, I was watching those guys breaking the windows dressed an awful lot like Antifa. And that picture of the guys in the Capital one with the horns if you go to video of the Marines that were attacked in Philly few years ago the white guy with beard and yellow shirt looks alot like Philly Antifa. Also I was thinking if that was Antifa we are all in trouble and the Democrats need to wise up. Antifa is coming for all of us.

The people who stormed the Capitol today we're not Trump supporters! They were members of antifa and blm! They were told to dress as Trump supporters and do this so that Trump supporters would be blamed. They were told if they wore MAGA hats to wear them backwards so they wouldn't be mistaken for Trump supporters. Ididnt see any MAGA hats. Did you? Don't you know if these people had been Trump supporters they would have been wearing MAGA hats? I find it hilarious that joe biden, a democrap, wants President Trump to "uphold the Constitution" and is calling what happened at the Capitol building "insurrection". What did he call the looting, burning, and killing by antifa and blm for the past 12 years? I believe that would be "peaceful protests".

What a sad day. I thought The GA senate going Democrat was upsetting, little did I know the rest of the day would only be getting worse.
Sadly, ( in my opinion) President Trump cooked his own goose.I listened to part of his noon speech. It was incendiary enough to get the crazies riled up to destroy his credibility. Sadly, for the country, Mr. Trump will never be able to hold office again. His legacy of remarkable works has been tarnished by his own actions.
I know we can weather the next 4 years because of my faith in God and a lot of prayer.
    Thank you for listening.

Bad day BUT it’s obvious Republicans have had it big time. We are fed up with the antics of the other side and those thousands that showed up and peacefully protested will do it over and over again. The few who broke into the capital building took away from the peaceful protests and the message was lost. The D’s have taught us well on how to act when we are upset!!!!

I am sick of the double standard of condemning Republicans and not BLM, Antifa or the lunatic left in our government! A republican was shot! Who assaulted and killed that woman? It was not another Republican! Answer that and you will know who started the violence! Republicans have the right to answers from our elected officials. Local and state governments and courts have refused to listen. Peaceful protest is what was happening until someone shot a Republican! Do not pretend that the congress was going to do anything to repair the damage that has been done to our election process. They say it is not their duty! What recourse does that leave Americans who know beyond a doubt that this election was given to a man that is a criminal! America is headed for a civil war if congress does not fix the criminal element among them!

I agree it’s a terrible situation that took place today. But I’m not convinced that the Presidents supporters were the ones “storming the capital”. It needs to be investigated by reputable people and quickly and thoroughly.

I'm sorry but the far right took over & damaged property , A woman was killed & ,it may be the peoples house but that is not how you take care of your house , in doing this the Trump followers are lowering themselves down to the Democrats level . Now we have lost the senate . I truly do not look forward to the next 4 yrs & now we will never see Voter ID for everyone , open borders & who knows what , I just hope GOD has something for AMERICA . From my view , it looks bleak

Yes he should have been much more forceful! But I believe he has finally had enough, he has been forsaken by all that should have been with him, he has been through hell for 4 years! and you can not tell me that Joe Biden won, it has been plain from the beginning he was the only democrat running that had so much dementia He would do whatever his handlers told him to do. It has been a conspiracy in the making since Clinton lost! And I believe tonight’s violence was antifa or blm plants In the crowd to make the republicans look bad. If the schools hadn’t stopped teaching history, people might realize this is how the Nazi party got its start and Adolfo Hitler was much loved in the beginning. Sorry for the rant I’m just so disappointed in the American people and I’m truly wondering if God is starting the beginning of the rapture ??

I feel what has happened today is a complete shame to our democracy. By storming the capital like these protesters did makes The Republicans look really bad in the eyes of not only the media but as to the democratic party organization. Trump could have managed better if he would have said that there is election Fraud being investigated but we need to be peaceful in our demonstrations. He needs to be more forceful as to law and order. Bad timing of his statement about the demonstrations After the storm the capital he waited too long to come out front and show displeasure. I think part of it is to blame I hate to say this is President Trump should have lead by example. I am afraid he has lost a lot of his faithful followers after this example of him showing up for this protest and setting a bad example. I will still stay as a devout Republican. But I have to say this is the first time I have looked negative on Trump and his actions today were poorly done.

I do agree that the actions of whoever was intolerable. However I believe it wasn’t the supporters. I believe it was ANTIFA posing as his supporters to but more blame on the President.
As a voter, the person organizing protests, the voter fraud, and much more needs to be uncovered and actions taken.
Please Mike, expose this so we can have a life again!

I would have hoped that Pence would have advised Trump on what he was going to do about certifying the Electoral College vote but apparently he didn't. That is not what I would've expected from Pence.
I also would've expected Trump to be much more forceful in his condemnation of what took place in DC today. There is no excuse for any TRUE Trump supporter to have acted without respect to law & order. Those despicable acts played right into the hands of the demos.

I believe the people of the United States have had enough of the corruption . wish this could have been handled without the violence. enough is enough. they could have proven there was no fraud in the election, they did not. so yes the Democrats are greedy and do not care for the people, and I believe they did commit fraud. and the press is just as corrupt. when will Obama, Hillary, Biden be held accountable. I continue to Pray. God Bless America.. we need many prayers

I am appalled at what happened today in Washington. I do think the President should have been more stern in his appeal to them to go home and stop this destruction. But I am concerned at the number of guns I see in pictures inside the chamber. Are these security people or congressional members? Either way, why so many guns in the hands of what look like people that belonged there?

Mike, do we even know if these "Trump supporters" were, truly, that? I had read that Antifa were planning on dressing in Trump supporting clothing to be able to more easily infiltrate the crowd. Of course, what I read could have been totally FAKE NEWS. I just find it hard to swallow that REAL Trump supporters would've behaved in this way.
    God help us all.
