“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

I’m truly sorry that the behavior attributed to Trump followers occurred. Just as the rioting we had all summer and fall was unjustified, this too is insupportable. I understand the disappointment, but this isn’t the way to manage it.

I'm a GA resident, and I'm very disappointed how all this is turning out. Officials used the same machines here in GA and reported they went down in Republican districts. With violence in DC, I'm very concerned Trump followers will become scape goats. I'm praying and clinging to God's promises: His mercies are new every morning.

Antifa was responsible for violence. The Media did not say that Antifa was there. There were other references to them, and that the woman who was shot and died was with Antifa.

Good evening sir. I first want to say how much I love and appreciate you for all you have done and do for America... And Home of Grace. I personally have mixed feelings about this. I'm not a lawyer or politician and I don't know the details of our constitution. However, I agree with our president and the majority of Americans when it comes to the election being stolen. My question is this... Considering that " we the people" have played by the rules and held back all the way to the bitter end, without lawlessness and violence. But at this point, what DO we do!? With all respect, do we draw up another petition and get signatures? Do we write letters? I could name off many other things that we have already done with no results. I certainly do not condone violence, but at this point, what's left? It's clear that whatever we do, we must do NOW, before our country is completely destroyed! Before we are living in a communist nation! Even God sent troops in to places to use force and violence in order to conquer. Our forefathers killed and died for us to have and protect our beloved country. It took bloodshed! Again, I do not condone violence, but at the same time, like many others, I will kill and or die for my country! Absolutely NOTHING else has that we've done yet has brought results! What else can we do NOW!?! God bless you and God bless America!

I am worried, confused, afraid of what our future will be. I am deflated and just plain tired of it all. How bad my president must feel right now. He tried so hard to fix this country, all will be undone now. Sickening!

What you saw today was people finally getting a backbone! We are tired of this and have been quiet long enough! The violence inside the Capitol was caused by an infiltration of ANTIFA.

You should know by now not to trust those telling you what Trump supporters are doing. There was intelligence that Anitifa was planning to infiltrate the protest, and apparently they did. Who would gain by storming the Capital? Who would gain by disrupting the hearings? Do you remember the Tea Party protest during the Obamacare vote in Congress? How many representatives were assaulted during their walk through that crowd? Did you consider what happened to Rand Paul and his wife after Trump's campaign speech and who did it?

Of course the media, Pelosi etc. say it is all Trump's fault and he has been silenced by Twitter, Facebook and Youtube and of course by fake news. Have you heard the rumor that they want to force Pres. Trump out now and have VP Pence remain until the 20th? I hope that is wrong.
Thank you that you can speak about DC and what goes on there with humor - we could use some of that right now.

Mike, I follow your emails because I generally agree with your perspective.
But I totally disagree with your take on Pences actions today. He behaved like a coward and betrayed the American people. He had the only remedy, as afforded by the constitution, to send the matter back to the states for review.
Bad call Mike Pence, bad advice for President Trump to bow down to the left and walk away; knowing full well that this election was a
Result of criminal activity and China scored a huge win.

I think we as Trump supporters should be allowed to protest. Until we know who the bad ppl are..why condemn Trump. President Trump has been to hell in a hand basket after what the evil Democrats have put him through. He told ppl to go home in peace. I am appalled at the violence today! I also know that I recognized at least 2 Antifa members in that group and I know that they do NOT support Trump and hate Trump supports as well! We The People are DONE with the failure to investigate the election and voter fraud that happened. We are DONE with using the machines on the recount. We are done with the breaking of Our Constitution.
The fight does NOT belong at the Capitol. The fight no longer belongs at the ballot box either since they both Republican and Democrats (which I prefer to refer to as demonrats) refuse to launch a legitimate investigation with all of the evidence that was supposed to be preserved. If the evidence has been destroyed, then that is evidence they CHEATED. If this is NOT fixed here and now, I will NEVER vote in another election. It would do me NO GOOD. My opinion doesn't count if the other side hands out enough money to buy people to cheat and steal. There are several things that I will NOT tolerate. Thieves and Liars are at the top of my list. I don't hate the person but I do hate the behaviors. I am a registered Independent that strongly supports President Trump. I lost an election for City Council in Dermott, AR because of my support. I am OK with losing because I will NOT change my mind or LIE to get votes. Wish all of those running for office would have the same standards!

Mike, I urge you to investigate the origins of the rioters. Many appear to be Antifa. If so, then this appears to be a planned rioters feom the left. Mr. Trump did not incite violence and putting this all on him is not fair.

Pres Trump has finally lost his perspective and has made grave errors. it's too bad he did not run a decent campaign this last summer and that he could not have been satisfied with keeping his legacy in tact most recently. im so sad for him because of all he has accomplished is now tarnished. Im still grateful to him, but .... Mike Pence is a man of character and Trump's pressuring of him was REALLY wrong and self dealing only. The President has finally made me sad.

I have lived in relative peace for 77 years. It is very sad to know that in a twindle of the eye it is all gone. I am conservative. I worked all my life, paid my bills, saved for my retirement years and now this. I have eyes and ears a mind that still learns and understands. I have seen the most horrible situations for the past four years. I have seen pure evil hate towards people that are not know personally. Truth does not exist. Has it died away? Cheating is rampant. We have a "class system" in our United States of America. The rich can literally get away with almost anything. President elect Biden hardly gets out to campaign, he has a hard time completing a sentence. No body in the MSM notices! Really? His son Hunter is under scrunity for using the Biden name and position to get millions of dollars. A man with a good background testifies about Joe Biden being involved with Hunter and the Chinese government. Nobody wanted to investigate. Many other situations are happening that no one wants to address. Where is TRUTH? Who is willing to stand and insist that TRUTH will set us free. I feel very "not listened to" and basically it seems that I should "shut up and go away". I feel that these states did not follow their own laws. This has caused us to have an election that is flawed at best and stolen at worst. But, we are suppose to shut up and go away and live with it. Well, I do not have much time left on this earth and I do not wish to sit back, offer my other cheek and shut up and go away and just live with it. I wish I could have been in Washington DC today. Why will no one investigate? If you are not guilty then what would giving everyone this knowledge not be a good thing? Our Supreme Court is a joke. If they do not have the "guts" for the job then resign. Read the constitution again. Maybe just maybe you will learn that you have the job of hearing disputes that involve one states actions that cause other states damage when state number one has broken the laws set out in the constitution. I want to do something. I have prayed. I have written letters. I have donated money. I have made phone calls. What more can an elderly lady do? Please help. I am so frustrated with this.

The disruption of the Senate due to violence was an easy way to stop the explanation of the fraud. This appears to be orchestrated, not helpful to Trump supporters.

My wife and I could not believe what was happening when those people confronted the police and broke into the House Chamber. That was uncalled for and without justification. It should never have happened. Until we know for certain that Antifa and BLM people weren't involved in this, I won't cast blame. However, I saw one Antifa individual in the House Chamber or Senate, that goes by the name of Jake the Viking. He has been identified. This may be something that was orchestrated by radicals to make the Republicans look bad. We agree with you that the President should have condemned this in the strongest terms. He appears to be a desperate man who is willing to cast aside his friends to retain his position. We are appalled at his actions and those of the rioters today. I fear for my grandchildren and what they are going to have to face in the future.

Just heartbroken over this day. Proud of VP Pence. Proud of Langford and Loeffler and McConnell too. Couldn’t watch any more. Also if Biden won fairly, then so be it but if there truly was the election fraud we have been told, then those in power need to fix that. Please tell me how I can help make a stand for wanting the truth! Doesn’t everyone want to know if those voting machines really are vulnerable? Makes no sense to live in this incredible country and yet cannot get a fair and honest election. Praying for President Trump as always and starting to pray for soon-to-be President Biden.

By allowing all the Democrat violence against Trump supporters, which actually can be backed up all the way to the 2015 campaign, and forward to the present, where no forceful action was taken to stop the attacks and looting, the only natural result was the continuation which occurred at Washington. It should have stopped in Portland, Minneapolis, and everywhere else over the campaign. Having said this, I do not approve of the tweet against Pence by the president, nor do I agree with his constant "stealing the election" comments, which should have been investigated weeks ago, since there was obviously ample evidence! He needs to stop, as he has made his point!

Mr Huckabee how dare you. We all knew Antifa was coming to try and cause trouble. Trump people do not dress like that and do what they did. They did accomplished exactly what you have done. Blame us for Anfifa. Plus it was staged. They were allowed in. I no longer consider myself a republican after what you and Pence have done today. No longer will us silent majority stay silent a d get walked all o er but we are not criminals like who you think we are. Time for third party.
